Could you do a video with a side by side (top-bottom) comparison between GP12 HyperView and MLM 2 HyperView? I think this is the most critical comparison when considering the worth and benefits of MLM 2 for motovloggin.
You’re ignoring the biggest reason to have the MLM: horizon lock. It’s true that “Wide” MLM2 is no wider than Superview without the MLM2, but you can completely rotate the camera and it will stay horizon locked. Obviously your use case of motorcycle riding where you’re (hopefully) always horizon locked anyway wouldn’t take advantage of that. Do you ski? I’m looking forward to getting a 12 and a MLM2 on the slopes. No swishy-swishy side to side video, 4k, no ugly fish eye, and a wider angle than the Linear+Horizon lock of the 11.
@@itsPeculiar I think you’re confusing Horizon Leveling and Horizon Lock. The horizon is locked. You can rotate the camera 360° and the horizon won’t move. The Hero9 has Horizon Leveling and you tip the camera by I don’t know, 20° and the horizon shifts. Hero11 has Horizon Lock but only with Linear mode. Hero12 can do the same, but can also use the Max Lens Mod and get a much, much wider view.
At the moment, given that you can either put this lens or an ND filter on your camera but not both at the same time, I wouldn't buy this lens, especially for the first use case you pointed out, which is motorcycle riding. The hyperview of the hero 12 is already the most extreme angle gopro has released in any action cam, and it comes with the camera. I would put the same amount of money for this lens on ND filter instead, so "sacrifice" a bit of the the wide angle to get a more cinematic effect (and also higher quality) that is worth much more for my use case.
The lens mod looks terrible! Nothing is flat, terrible barrel distortion! Just do superwide. Or even better, get an Osmo which has a wider field of view and corrects barrel distortion.
Problem is superwide has distortion on the edges almost like the pixels get longer towards the edge of the lens? Does not happen to the max lens to my understanding. But gosh these max lens have the barrel distortion I did not see in other reviews?
it works, but it doesn´t have the max lens 2 software which is needed for it to actually work properly. I even tested on the hero 10 and it worked fine, but didn´t get any wider than the superview
I’m so thinking about going with the DJI Action 4 . I have GoPro 11 and want another action cam for B roll and backup on my next trip to the Philippines 🇵🇭. Lol 😂 decisions decisions !!! Action 4 or GoPro 12 😅
@@TimEckel That's what I'm saying. It's essentially a fish-eye lens that acts just like one when using the widest view. Other "lenses" are just crops of the sensor, possibly digitally corrected in camera, that present a narrower, less distorted view. Do you see it diferent?
Your motorcycle video using the Max Lens Mod 2.0 with Hyperview looked great on my 75-inch 4k TV! I wish that it was compatible with my GoPro Hero 11 because I'd do a lot of my future motorcycle rides with the Max Lens 2.0.
Do you have or plan on buying the Max Lens Mod 2.0? Thoughts👇
I purchased it after watching this. Can you share your settings?
"Watch this before you buy"....me watching this literally right after I bought it last night :)
Is it worth it? The mod

A must on pov mtb! 🤙🏻
Watch this before you buy. Me: looking for a new action cam ->watching this 😂
Can you use this with Linear setting? If yes, Does the field of view increase without fish eye effect?
I don't think you can

Do we know what is the max angle we can have with MLM2 horizon lock?

Also maybe consider the Osmo Action 4 camera because the distortion is not as bad.
can you use max lens with nd at the same time?
Unfortunately no
Can you try with the max lens mod super view with 16:9 ratio vertical fliming? Thank you alots for that 😀
Watch my full review, i got some shots there😃
how did you manage dji mic inside helmet?
With a lav mic 😃
Post filming audio dubbing, obviously.
Nice video, also considering to buy it to record my riding. Nice Duke 390 u got!
how does dji a4 at widest compare
to gopro12 mod2 hyperview?
You can see the full detailed comparison here: ua-cam.com/video/6yvdET5p6Xs/v-deo.htmlsi=w9bGTA-IVTuEONZ5
Nice video. I actually did like LM 2 hyperview. Might buy the GP12 + the LM 2. Cheers.
What bike is that?
KTM Duke 250 or 390
Thanks for this. It's a great description of the various "lenses" and I agree that HyperView is the one I would use all of the time.
Thanks mate👍
Great video -- thank you Rob!
Is max lens 2.0 compatible with Hero 11?
No, it isn't compatible with the Hero 11.

Try this with nightlapse. Max Lens 2 nightlapse
WHOA! look at the distortion 🦕
Ikr 😬
Go pro 12 the king!!
The distortion of the Max Lens Mod 2.0 is so bad it will cause your viewers thinking they need glasses after looking at your videos
This isn't just a GoPro thing, you will get the same effect using a fish eye lens on a camera.
@@markwornom1050that's what the lens mod is. It can be digitally corrected as Dji does with the Osmo.

Sweet! Happy to hear that! I was hoping for that myself, so i could just swap between them or use 1 to record the other etc.But sadly no😞
Thanks. If you have X3 you don't need this
Exactly
Mod reduces video quality too much imo :/
These shots have stopped me from buying the Lens Mod 2. Too much distortion at the edge - look at the light poles! This is terrible.
Thanks for sharing. I'll give it a miss.
