    You can also use the forage wagon to pick up the silage from the bunker if you driver over it, probably the quickest method

      Yeah, but if you have a lot of silage you get massive divots in the silage and the forage wagon just gets stuck, especially when your wagon holds 200,000 liters and you have 2,000,000 liters of silage in your bunker

    In the video with the loading wagon bunker, you showed a potential bad problem many people have. You covered the silo with all the grass not in the bunker. That chaff strip sticking out which did not get covered with screw you. You go to scoop up the silage and you pick up the chaff first, and it turns your entire pit back into chaff - well, this atleast happened to me in 1.1.0.0 - not sure if they fixed it or not in 1.2.0.0. ALWAYS push you chaff all the way into the bunker...be prepared to push it a 1m inside, so you when your vehicle exits and causes the chaff to flatten and spread, it still won't be out of the bunker. Shortcuts lead to bad cuts!

      Man I didn't either and made myself do animals. Making TMR and going all dairy cattle, and buying the dairy point is a lot of fun. Especially building enough slurry and manure to fertilize with that as well. Cows actually make the game more enjoyable than just driving harvesters and chaser bins all day.

    The one nice thing about the Anderson sausage press wrappers, is that the larger one is the ONLY one in the game that can wrap large 180cm round and 240cm square bales. Unfortunately you have to hand feed it (too bad, I've seen a conveyor mod for small bales on the unofficial sites) - however, unless you have sheep, there is no use for grass bales other than selling at horrible prices compared to hay and silage - and there is no mod even atm, with will shred grass to you can silage wrap it again - animal mixes take hay, straw, silage, not grass as well - I have made a handful of grass bales by accident, where I changed the bale size accidently to the largest, and my round wapper would not wrap it, so it dumped grass. Also, if you use your round wrapping baler that can make 180cm round straw/hale bales, sometimes I get the wrong bale I expect, when I switch between 150cm silage and 180cm straw. Depending on how many you have (I have 9 7500l 180cm round grass bales), it is worth leasing the sausage press to make silage out of them. $1800 to lease, but my $2500 in grass bales will be worth ~$17k as silage, so well worth it.

    • @Luuk-ur3sp
      @Luuk-ur3sp 2 роки тому

      The Kuhn SW4014 can wrap bales up to 220cm so thats not a big difference compared to the Anderson wrapper.

    • @dansiegel995
      @dansiegel995 2 роки тому

      @@Luuk-ur3sp My point to use it, was at times you get grass bales instead of straw bales, if using your baler for both. And large grass bales are useless unless you have sheep...and more useless if you demand it be hay for long term storage. Therefore, you can have the sausage press to wrap those large grass bales you may get once in a while, and it will indeed pay for itself. If you have spare space to make long sausages, they are perfect to easily pick up during sell time with the Anderson and Arcusin real autoloaders...if you used modded fake bale autoloaders, dont bother. If selling silage, and not using fake autoloaders, logistics in picking up bales during sell time becomes a problem, but IMO still much better than loose, as bales have a huge density advantage over loose...with loose, trucking and trailer maintenance costs will eat a lot of profits, and your most valuable resource....TIME. With maintenance and fuel, loose is far more inefficient than bales in FS22...needed only for corn silage, until someone makes a corn silage baler...and those do exist IRL and should now be possible as a mod in FS22.

  • @theBushidoGhost

    For anyone who was curious
    One of the faster ways to compress inside the bunker is to drive the largest rollers over it. Weight plays 100% of the factoring into compacting and the largest roller is by far the fastest way i have got it to 100% after about 2-4 passes! just be mindful for uneven driving as you can get stuck 👍

    Grass silage has a 25% higher yield (and I wasn't using a baler with silage additive, but the forage harvester did). Overall maintenance is probably similar. Grass will not require plowing or planting annually but does require 3 harvests to Corn silage's 1. However, grass should be rolled right after harvest for an extra layer of fertilization. Rolling versus fertilizing has a trade-off. This trade-off with time vs. money as fertilizer can be thrown out at great width, where-as the rollers aren't even close to that width but cost nothing over ground except maintenance costs. Handling may be the same between the two sileage types as corn requires hauling and a silage bin, then it needs to be picked up out of the silage bin and hauled in a trailer. This can take at least a full trailer for a small field, let alone multiple trailer loads for a size-able field. With grass baling it needs to be mowed, then baled and wrapped, then gathered and stored. Depending on the bale type or baler this can be a multi-step process. Once it ferments then it needs to be moved in bales. The bale loader can carry 24, which even with the smallest bales (3500L) is 84,000L of Silage. There aren't any trailers that can carry 84,000L of silage.

    Silage... yogurt for cattle.
    Curious why IRL someone would go through the trouble of planting corn, just to harvest it early for chaff. If you were creating silage, grass is easier because... it regrows itself without a new seeding process. If these machines are this expensive compared to grain harvesters, then economically seems dumb combined with the fact that grass is dirt cheap. Maybe if the crop dies from disease or drought, this is an alternative to just burning or cutting down the stalks of the wasted crop and getting absolutely nothing in return.
    Concerning TMR, nobody I know feeds their cattle anything more than hay and grazing grass. This has to be a tight acre or cow barn farm thing, or with dairy cattle. Anyone familiar with it?
    Also the first setup with the baler and then get the round baler pickup and buy lot 71 every time it's ready to go on Elm Creek. Get you a plot of land and just have a mountain of silage bales and wait until January. You can easily pick them up again with the trailer. You will rival Bezos and your TMR supply can feed all the cattle in Texas for about 2 years. Round Silage bales is where it's at. Also make some smaller ones when starting out to easily mix your TMR so you don't want too much silage in the mix. Hay and straw are easier to come by so you want the least amount possible to suffice "TMR" and not turn it into forage.

      Corn has a much higher yield than grass does so you get a lot more from it but the equipment costs more :)

    • @kayokayo7917
      @kayokayo7917 2 роки тому +2

      If playing seasons you can only grow corn once a year. Corn gives a little over twice as much as grass per harvest but grass can be harvested 3-4 times a year. Corn does require much less work for what you get but is also more expensive to upkeep since you can't fertilize with rolling and much more with reseeding.
      I'd say corn silage would work best for a more advanced farm that can afford the equipment, or just wants silage to upkeep animals/production rather than selling as much of it as possible. Also if player isnt using seasons and doesn't want or have time to harvest grass every three days.

      @@seeker7533 Depends what you're doing with it really. For max silage with seasons, yes, grass will get you 50-100% more per year. It's more work though, but also cheaper equipment-wise, though eventually you'll pay more over time for seed/fertilizer. It's pretty balanced between work, cost, and overall yield imo.

    So, from your video, the bunker takes a month, and bales 2 months? Strange. In my game, it takes 2 days...and I am running 2 day months. I am on normal difficulty. You might want to try different combinations to see if you get anything different - I wouldn't be surprised if Giants based it on difficulty...and for the days/month thing, hopefully it shouldn't matter, but who knows, maybe there is a bug. The fact though that your silage is taking 2x as long in bales is not a good sign things are working right or as expected.
