You have arrived at the sounds of best Motown artists in their greatest era. Besides being a fabulous singer, Smokey is the composer of many Motown hits performed by other artists, including Mary Wells, The Temptations, The Marvelettes, and Marvin Gaye.
Listen to Smokey's "Ooo Baby Baby" or "The Tracks of My Tears".
Then listen to Mary Wells sing the big hits he penned for her: "My Guy", "The One Who Really Loves You", "Two Lovers", and "You Beat Me to the Punch".
Another rabbit hole Worth going down. Tons & tons of great music from this group.with & without smokey. Smokey wrote & produced most of the songs not only for the miracles, but for most of groups/ singers on motown
yep follow that bunny
Smokey wrote this song. What's amazing is, Bob Dylan who is perhaps The Greatest Songwriter Of All Time, actually commented once that Smokey was the best lyricist ever. When Smokey heard that comment from Bob, he was dumbfounded, he couldn't believe it. But he was very appreciative. By the way, Roy Orbison wasn't blind, he just started wearing dark glasses and it became a trademark of his.
This song started my love for Smokey Robinson; it hit the airwaves when I was eleven and I was hooked!! I've loved him through all these years. 💖 edit: You two are so funny! 😆 My request is their 1965 son Ooo Baby Baby, please and thank you.👍
3 ABSOLUTE MUST HEAR SOUL CLASSICS,, JUNIOR WALKER & THE ALL STARS "WHAT DOES IT TAKE"...ARCHIE BELL & THE DRELLS "TIGHTEN UP"..BILLY STEWART "I DO LOVE YOU"..TRUST ME!!
"Shop Around", "Tears of A Clown", "The Tracks of My Tears", I Second That Emotion", "Mickey's Monkey", you just can't go wrong with some Miracles :)
I love I'll Try Something New. such wonderful lyrics
I'll Try Something New is my fav
Also, " Ooh Baby Baby" ✌🏼😎👍🏼
Mickey's Monkey was one of the few songs not written by Smokey Robinson. Holland-Dozier-Holland wrote it
I love you two. Y'all's relationship is the best. Beautiful couple!!
Glad you liked this song! My father was one of The Miracles. Love and Millions of Blessings to you both ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤ ❤ ❤
You look at Music 50’s, 60’s and 70’s as a whole are the best music ever. 🎤🎵🎶👍🏼😎
"You Really Got a Hold on Me" (1964). Was written by singer/songwriter Smokey Robinson. He was one of the most prolific songwriters in the history of music. Besides writing and singing most of the songs for the Imperials. He also wrote songs for other artist on the Motown label. Glad to see your going down the Motown rabbit hole. Great reaction as always.
That was recorded November 1962.
Tracks of My Tears by Smoky. You'll love it.
Smokey, or Johnny Rivers did a version of that song too. Both are worth listening to 👍
please react to “ooh baby baby” by smokey robinson and the miracles live from 1965!! i love your guy’s channel so much, it has become my favorite reaction channel and i really hope to see you guys react to that song live ❤️
YES!!!
Absolutely must do it!
Or the random street cover
Facts!
My favorite Smokey song! Illustrates emotional abuse with awesome harmonies.
Smokey is one of the all time greats! He writes, sings (voice so sweet you get diabetes just listening to him), produces. Was a good looking young man and grew old with grace still looking good. I heard him on the radio and someone requested one of his songs and he said thanks but no: I'm here to play others music and help them out (dude is humble too)! Gotta love Smokey!
I love seeing the next generation listen some really good old music. This was playing on the radio when I was a little girl. WOW.
Love this one! And yes you can love someone whitout liking them!
Watch the live black and white version of Smokey doing "Ooh Baby Baby" from the middle 60's. You need to see how this guy performed his music. Smokey Robinson, the sweetest voice ever put on record.
Gotta react to "Ooh Baby Baby," and "Tracks of My Tears" by them!!!!
LOL-When my husband and I first met we couldn't stand each other. We'll be married 50 years this coming March. I understand what he is saying.
When I was a kid back in 64 (5 years old) I heard the Beatles version and fell in love with the song. Later on I appreciated what Smokey Robinson and the Miracles did for music and how other musicians loved their music too.
My first Smokey Robinson song was in the early 80s, Cruzin... I Love it When We Cruzin Together... yeah, Such a great song and it was a new song for him.
My very first celebrity crush was Smokey Robinson and those beautiful 👀❤️
"Going Out Of My Head" by Little Anthony will make both of you go out of your heads!
I love you two!
I’m 73 yrs old and this is the music that I grew up with. You give me SO much joy watching your reactions! ❤️❤️
Early soul Motown rock what ever you call it is timeless classics.
My most favorite episode. You two have the most wonderful chemistry! God bless you both Shawn and Mel.
Love it!! Y`all are the BEST! Keep On Rockin'
Smokey wrote many of the standards of the genre
You guys are hitting on true gold. The power of love.
I see Smokey and here I am
The Miracles are GREAT to explore!!!
The Beatles loved this n covered it on an early album
You really opened the door wide to all this great music. It's so fun to watch you two appreciate what you are hearing. It's a sweet spot, an amazing treasure to so many of us. Just for the two of you, i think you would really enjoy "Dance With Me" by The Drifters. S&M you rock.
This is an iconic song from an iconic group with an iconic singer..
Even The Beatles covered this song on their first album
Please react to Tears of a Clown by Smokey!
Smokey makes every woman melt. Someone else had to have written these lyrics.
Grew up on this, Smokey Robinson, voice of an angel
I know this because the Beatles did a cover on one of their early albums before they started writing their own songs
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles were pretty fabulous. They inspired The Beatles among many others. Smokey also mentored Michael Jackson when he was a child star too. When you're ready for more hits from Smokey Robinson & The Miracles check out "I Second That Emotion", "The Tracks Of My Tears", "The Tears Of A Clown", "Shop Around", "Going to a Go-Go", and "I Like It Like That" among many others. And be sure to check out some of the songs Robinson wrote and produced: Mary Wells "My Guy", The Temptations "My Girl", "The Way You Do The Things You Do", and "Get Ready", The Four Tops "Stillwater", and Marvin Gaye "Ain't That Peculiar" among others.
The great Smokey Robinson.
Definitely one of my favorite songs!!!❤
Great song by the great Smokey🥰😘
Ooh baby baby Smokey Robinson and the miracles
How are they not getting this !!!!!!
Smokey is the ultimate poet lyricist. Check out just about any song, particularly from the mid '60's to the early 70's. I highly recommend Darling Dear, Swept For You, and More Love. Another great classic that Smokey and the Miracles did was a song called Give Her Up. I was surprised to find out that Smokey didn't write it but it sure sounds like he did. I am sure you won't regret reviewing any or all of them.
If you want to keep up this trend of relationships gone bad in the early 1960s try “You Don’t Own Me” by Leslie Gore.
This is from the Spring of '63. I was a junior in HS, & LOVED this song !!
Now, Smokey Robinson, was my favorite singer, he was in a group called the “Miracles.” He saying not I don’t like, not like, I don’t like you. Meaning, I like you, & I love you at the same time. You act crazy, but I love you, anyway!!! Now, 2 things, 1. he was married 1nc. 2. he not only wrote for other people & himself but he sung solo himself! Love y’all’s!!!
I love Smokey Robinson and the miracles this is good Motown music they don't make music like this anymore
Y'all are so cute!! I love seeing a couple in love.
He loves her but he can’t let go of her even though she treats him bad because his heart is involved. Unrequited love.
I used to play this song in my room so loud that my dad used to bang on the walls. That's when I would respond to him and say, but Dad it's Smokey. Smokey Robinson wrote a lot of music for a lot of artists. For example, Mary Wells, The Temptations, Rick James and so on.
Brilliant lyrics. And Smokey follows me on Twitter, which is my claim to fame.
Way To Go! Your Famous in my Book! Thanks for that!
You guys are funny. This is SMOKEY ROBINSON & THE MIRACLES!!!
❤️❤️🥰🥰❤️❤️ Hi Shawn and Mel!!! I hope you’re ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Smokey Robinson came out with an album in 1975-ish, titled “QUIET STORM” with the mail song having the same name!!! I would love to request this song, along with two (2) others from the album, “THE AGONY & THE ECSTASY” &. “LOVE LETTERS”. I hope you give any of these thee songs a try. Smokey is an AMAZING singer, and he wrote all three songs as well, and his voice is just WOW!!! ⭐️ Thank you kindly for your consideration!! ❤️❤️🥰🥰❤️❤️ With love to you both always, ~ Laura 💞
When Smokey sings, you forget everything!
I Second That Emotion pleeze!
*I randomly came across this video. You guys are awesome. I really like your genuine reaction to the music and also, your love for each other. It's noticed. We love to see it
PS: Mel’s vocals in the beginning.... Okayyyy! 👏🏾*
Love this group❤❤🌷
You two are adorable.
That’s why it’s called the blues, I love R&B❤️
I first heard this song as The Beatles cover. Later learned where it came from. A very different song but similar in subject is the Bill Withers funk classic- Use Me.
Yes, the live version where’s he’s in an orange-looking sweater.
This is exactly how I feel about my whole relationship
I was totally knocked out by this song as a kid. So were the Beatles. They did a great version that Smokey himself liked.
You two are too funny , great to laugh
The Beatles did a cover of this song (John Lennon singing) and did a great job. Love both Smokie's version, and The Beatles.
Lennon did such a FABULOUS job when the Beatles covered this, I actually like it better than Smokey's. John Lennon put so much emotion in his voice when the Beatles did it.
theirs was the first version of this I ever heard and for some reason I like that version better
@@patticrichton1135 The piano on the Beatles cover version sounded better than the Miracles original Motown version . But I like both versions equally .
The Beatles do a great version of this on one of their earlier albums!
That's a rollercoaster relationship. In a romantic way 😂😂
Mr Motown himself, Smokey Robinson.😊👍
It just sounds like no matter how badly she treats him....he can't see himself with anybody else but her
Ooh I love this song
That was awesome
I LOVE Black LOVE! Smokey was actually married to the female singer in this group for 20+ years. I LOVE how you make Mel blush! Much love and blessings to you both🥰🤎🙏
RIP The Funk Brothers the Motown House Band. I am currently working on Smokey Robinson and the Miracles " You Really Got A Hold On Me " James Jamerson RIP Motown Bassist. I relate to this more than you know 😞.
Back in the day lyrics were actually talking about something.
Smokey STILL making great music with Uncle Charlie Wilson on All of my Love 🎶🎵 check it out
My favorite Smokey Robinson and The Miracles song, hands down! lol
Sometimes the heart wants what it wants...even if you don't like it.
The melody and rhythm of this song is the thing I like most even more than the lyrics.
Early Smokey is soooo good!
You two are so cute!😍
Yesssss! Motown!!
First!!! I love this song!! I sung it the entire time lol
Cruisin' by Smokey Robinson is a must listen to!
There's three riders of songs that you just can't mess with and I Smokey Robinson Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder Smokey the poetic one of of the three you got to hear the man is a master of lyrics
Yes indeed totally relatable love hate relationship Smokey Robinson referred as the quiet poet check out Smokey's " The Agony and The Ecasty".

Goin' to a go-go... Come 'round here.... etc etc etc etc 👍👍👍💥💫 Saw them In Atlantic City at the old Steele Pier Ballroom. I think I paid about $3.00 and change to get in to see them sing and later went outside on the pier to watch the famous diving horse dive into a water tank.... Lol... what days😊
I'm in my early 40s and grew up with my Mom listening to this music. This is Sunday morning Motown in Mama's kitchen. She passed a few years back and , your videos have me missing her so bad right now. LOVIN your reactions!
This is so gooooood! I absolutely LOVE Smokey Robinson ❤️❤️❤️
" Ooh Baby Baby"
The Beatles did a cover of this, on one of their early albums. Good bluesy song.
Just a thought but what if a drug addiction is the factor of this song? Love you video reactions much love ❤️
