- The pyramids of Egypt remain difficult to study because the documentation for them is inconsistent and incomplete. Many brave explorers sacrificed much to gather data hundreds of years ago, but the modern research is not so selfless.
This video examines studies conducted on pyramids with modern technology and highlights the problem of for-profit enterprises claiming our common cultural heritage.
There remains invisible evidence in the pyramids that can be seen in old photographs, and these clues may have profound implications for the history of the Great Pyramid and all of Old Kingdom Egypt.

As you may have noticed, this video was originally removed with a copy-strike. I suppose it is inevitable on UA-cam at some point. The fact that the video was falsely (or otherwise) striked lets us know one thing: your content is making an impact in the circles we can't see. Your channel always hit me as having a counter-institutional position from the get-go, on account of your excellent research, attention to detail, and most importantly your care and passion for the field and of archaeology as science merely for its own sake, in the spirit of its great names in history. It's made the for-profit entrenched academia mad that someone without the limitless resources and connections they have is adding so much to conversations and mysteries that are centuries old. They aren't happy that someone else is capturing the minds of the public with material that is made for science and the pursuit of knowledge instead of for money and narcissism. Keep doing what you're doing, I hope one day your name goes in papers and journals and takes their place, and helps fix the tarnished reputation of Egyptology.

How fascinating looking up that corridor. 17:57 The ochre lines indicating rope paths (as per your narration) would need to travel over a pulley of some sort if they were to drag blocks up the incline (wear marks are in evidence), the spaced slots along the parallel edges may have held wooden blocks with a hole in each, through which axles were placed from one side to the opposite side and the ropes travelled over the axles (they’re low friction), blocks were then hauled up the incline. Just my wild and crazy guess.
the more probably reason is they just dont like people taking their content (even if its legal)... funny how people instantly go for "secret society which attacks us" instead of the more logically solution...

That almost goes to prove the point of the video even more. Personally, I think more blame rests with the Egyptian government than anywhere else, but the copyright strike is ridiculous. If anything people might be more likely go and watch these documentaries to see some "data" no matter how twisted
Egypt scores 35/100 on the Transparency International Corruption Perception index making it a bit more corrupt then Ukraine. This might be part of the problem considering the government is responsible for these historical sights.
exactly. it seems completely counterintuitive... not to mention, how could a legitimate scientist involved with these documentaries feels themselves with a clear conscience? it goes against everything you are indoctrinated with as a scientist.

@@paulwollenzein-zn1lh I think it is a multi leveled issue. The scientific endeavour itself has been monetized to a certain degree, even if somebody starts off with noble intentions, they get swallowed up by corporate interests or bloated bureaucracies if they want to make a living researching anything. Add levels of government corruption and personal greed then nobody outside of the system has a chance to find out anything and anybody in the system is beholden to it.
The intersection of academia and commerce is a very shady place…😒
People with integrity can still show information while financially benefiting from sale of helpful videos and books. Seems most just want to control the information to force people to buy their next video.

@@testboga5991We'd know so much more if they'd close the site down for a year, let the researchers alone, get the research published and open it back up, but I suspect the value from tourism to the pyramids is so great to the Egyptian economy, there will never be proper research done and the pyramids will be turned into a marketing gimmick more and more

Some lesser known information on Mark Lehner is that in his youth he went to Virginia Beach, where the Edgar Cayce foundation is (A.R.E.) and he was befriended by Cayce's son, Hugh Lynn Cayce. After sharing with Lehrner the readings on ancient Egypt and giving Lehrner direction in his life, Lehrner repaid Cayce's kindness with a repudiation of the Cayce readings. Lehrner went on to establish himself in the field of Egyptology and joined in Zahi Hawass's plan to control access and limit access to Egyptian artifacts, pyramids etc, going as far as banishing geologists from the Sphinx. Why? Because they have found erosion evidence that the Sphinx had to have been around for at least 12,000 years when there was water there to make water erosion marks. This is what I have learned and it is my POV. Keep an open mind and see where it takes you.
As I recall, some of Lehners college education was paid for by the Cayce organization.

This is hands down the best content for education of the ancient Egyptian structures. Being presented with multiple sometimes conflicting sources and common sense analysis of the history and archeology, that doesn't involve fkn aliens, is content that is desperately needed. Thank you so much.
Something I always respected about the show Time Team was that they published almost all of their digs (something like 90something% of them). Around the time the show ended a decade ago I remember coming across estimates that said only half or less of all digs are published (talking strictly about modern archaeology, not including the stuff done by antiquarians or whatnot).
Nothing is perfect and there are criticisms to launch against Time Team. But at the very least, in that realm that is the merger of research and entertainment (note: not infotainment or whatever you want to call it where the show is the most important thing), they did a really good job. Yeah they cared about making a good show, but they also cared about the archaeology (most of the time).
They're back, patreon and youtube supported instead of TV channel supported.
@@tgd2 I'm well aware. Being released from the constriction of making hour long episodes was a good thing, but something has felt off with them. Specifically the hosting. It doesn't _need_ Tony Robinson, but it does need someone to play the everyman and they haven't done that well.
In short, the new episodes are good for people who are familiar with archaeology, but I don't think they are as welcoming of newcomers as the tv show was. Which was a big part of what made the show great.
I suspect that a lot of documentation for TT digs was done by local organizations. It was very common for TT to be brought in to assist with a dig. TT didn't show much other than local museums that I recall. Hmmmmm. I wish upon a star that we could continue to have good TT.
Time Team is a different kettle of fish. They weren’t holding back data so only they could profit from it. They only profited if it was published BUT there are only so many episodes than can be bought and aired by a TV channel. Not seeing episodes was more to do with gaining air time than hiding data.

It's right here at 6:30. This used to be the actual clip of Mark Lehner plugging the paid data. Now it's just History for Granite quoting the clip. In other words, either Mark Lehner or the company who paid him to mouthpiece their product called the strike.

What’s interesting about the source material from ancient Egypt, though, is those rags and tatters are of a more numerous and a more varied kind than almost any other civilization on the face of the Earth. You name it, every kind of material imaginable has come down to us; not complete, but tantalizing rags and tatters. And it’s a wonderful thing to have all of this material, but it’s also extremely frustrating because it means there’s that much more room for argument and doubt.”
