I definitely believe it’s a great thing to have especially if you live in an environment with snow. It also helps when you want to go off-road to hiking trails and things. Plus it looks good.
Thanks for the video. I always wanted to do the same but not for the snow. The front end always seems to scrape driveway curbs and other nonsense (In NJ, right outside NYC. A lot of concrete and potholes!). I also have a 2008 but with only 110K so I don't mind putting the time and money since it will last.
It was a great investment for sure. I didn’t notice any loss in mpg or handling issues. My buddy currently is driving it since he needed a vehicle. I’m driving my lifted Prius. Both always scraped driveways before. Not anymore.
You didn't mention this video is featuring Phyllis! Haha. Great video! I'm sure this car feels great with fresh suspension, especially at 400,000 miles! The added suspension height is a great bonus.
Great video ! I'm considering getting the kit but not sure about the springs. Would you recommend the HD springs or are the stock ones okay for you so far ?
What are you doing for tire size when you upgrade? I’m going to use this kit as well and then upgrade my tires, I was thinking AT as I have a little commute, but I’m curious on your thoughts. Great video, been looking for a kit for awhile and their is nothing on YT until you posted.
I plan to run a AT tire. I was looking into the Yokohama Geolander. I believe I can run a 14” wheel as well and there are a few other more aggressive options I can go with in that rim/wheel size.
I have a 2009 sedan model. Had to do the front shocks and rods few months ago. Not only that, had to do the rear hub assembly and front wheel speed sensor because the abs and brake light came on. Guess these cars are prone to having abs wheel speed sensor issues. I live in Illinois but was born in Michigan. You understand how bad these winters are, it’s terrible. Can’t believe you have that many miles on ur Yaris. I got the car 5 years ago and it had 65 thousand miles on it. I’m at 99,236 miles right now. Transmission shifts amazingly and the engine doesn’t burn a drop of oil. Scotty Kilmer made a few videos on this gen Yaris. These cars are amazing but living in the rust belt sucks. Things rust and corrode away. I hope to get 5 more years out of this car the frame is solid underneath just a small bit of surface rust here and there
@@hughbertsprojects correct I agree to be honest. The only weird thing I’m experiencing right now, is that the car shakes like crazy sometimes when I’m at idle. Like when the ac is on, and I’m at a red light or stop sign. The only thing that helps is turning the ac off or putting the car in neutral. My dealership thought it was the engine mount but I replaced that and it didn’t help. I’ve read tons of Yaris forums online about people experiencing the same exact issue and they couldn’t figure it out either.
@@hughbertsprojects something else mentioned was that the engine shakes if you lift the hood up and look, mine does pretty bad . Common issue on this car yet no idea how to fix it. Engine is strong and burns no oil at all. The air filter box will shake, engine, and everything all around shakes. I’m sure yours does too if you take a 10 minute trip, park somewhere with the car on pop the hood and look. I guess no car is perfect but I’ve learned to just live with things like this. @jonathanmacdonald9276 it could be the transmission mount. I normally replace all my motor and transmission mounts at the same time. It’s extra money but if I’m already working on it i just do the extras.
Currently working on a rally style bash bar in the front. My buddy has the car right now since he needed something to drive. He’s 3 hrs from me so haven’t had much time to finish it.
Other than the suspension, what else would you say it's recommended to change if we want to install this kind of kit. I know nothing about cars I appreciate the feedback.
I’m a fan of replacing struts when lifting a vehicle. That way the parts are new. Also making sure the sway bar endlinks, ball joints, tierods and bushings are in good shape is a good idea.
Hello, good content. I believe I missed the location of front spacer. Also I'm interested in sway bars for mines. Any idea where I can find some at a affordable price? Thank you in advance.
I got mixed up when I was doing filming on the correct location of the front spacer. It goes underneath the top strut plate. I purchased this kit from Prius off-road out of California. It was a very affordable kit. The kit I used on my car is from a Prius C.
I’m going to be installing snow tire in the next few weeks. I need to get another set of wheels. I’m also planning to put some fender flares on as well.
Here is a link to the company that made this lift kit. They are mostly a Prius lift kit company but their products do fit across the Toyota line of vehicles. Tire size fitment is mentioned on some kits but their customer service department can definitely answer other questions you may have. priusoffroad.com/
Without changing the tire size I didn’t notice any difference. If I would have gone with a larger tire the style of tire and size would play a factor. My Prius I also lifted got about 3-5 mpg less with the 2” taller tires I ran on it.
Here is a link to the kit. It was designed for a Prius C but fits the Yaris. At the end of the information it shows other models it fits. priusoffroad.com/products/ols/products/prius-yaris-xd
It could be a few different things. If it’s under acceleration that you hear it look for loose bolts, a worn sway bar link, or a motor mount. A cv should be more of a clicking sound.
Hi I have a question I have a 09 Toyota Yaris sedan and I plan to get a life kit the same one u have do u think 205/75/15 off road tires can fit with that size??
That size tire should fit. The only issue is the bottom of the strut spring perch. The Prius cleared with the stock offset wheels. Only had a little rub at full lock. I know the yaris has a larger open in the wheel well. I unfortunately haven’t upgraded tires yet since the ones on it are still good.
You should be able to measure the distance between the top of the tire and the spring perch. The tire size you want to run is 3.4” taller than stock. As long as you have about 1.25 of clearance now with stock tires you should be good.
Here is the link from Prius Off-road the maker of this lift. Have put 30k on the lift kit so far and it’s still working great. priusoffroad.com/products/ols/products/prius-yaris-xd

General makes a nice AT for a 14" wheel. Not sure if Maxis still makes the smaller Big Horns, but that was another option
Good to know. I’ll look into it. I’m looking at the Forceum Mt08 for my 1984 Toyota Tercel wagon.

It is the kit for the Prius C.

Hopefully I can. A friend of mine currently is driving the car on the tires it had. The larger tires are on the list of things to do this summer.
