Comp out of the Box - Vanquish VRD Stance RTR Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Here's my review and real-time test of the Vanquish VRD Stance RTR. I drive it (one-handed) through many familiar obstacles to see how it stacks up to the competition. How does it do? What do I think about it? Are birds real? Watch to find out!

I shoot all my videos on the Sony a7c and a6500 in 4K, with Sigma 16mm, Tamron 28-70 and 55-210mm f1.4 lenses and the Zhiyun Crane V2.
I'm not a huge fan of the comp-style trucks mostly from a looks perspective, but it's really hard to argue with the results. Honestly, for being an RTR I'm frankly amazed at how the truck did, since it's very clear that this could be easily improved with a better servo. It also looked like a sensored brushless with better low speed control would also have made a huge difference for this truck, but for an RTR this is seriously impressive.
I was very impressed! Thanks for watching!
Great video man.
I love these run amd talk videos
Vanquish is really owning the rtr market in my opinion.
No one really.comes close to what vanquish gives you out of the box.
My opinion.
😎👍👍
Totally agree, just don't tell Josh...his ego is big enough as it is 😂.
@@scalebuildersguild 🤣🤣🤣😎
Excellent review. I think these comp RTR’s are a great idea. There are a lot of people out there who don’t know where to start building a comp rig. This provides an easy entry to that world. I’ve always thought there was a gap in the market for this sort of car. Vanquish delivers again 👍🏼
Agreed! Hopefully it will get more people out to comps!
Never comped , always hated the look of comp trucks and I bought a vrd carbon and I'm in love. The damn thing has so much performance that it became beautiful in my eyes. Honestly the chassis itself is pretty. Amazing rig
It's a shame that there aren't any Vanquish suppliers in the UK. This would be an awesome addition to my collection. More real time tests in the woods would be great.
Modeltune are the vanquish UK supplier I believe.
This test was exactly what I needed to see. Not planning on doing any competitions, but good to know that I could if I wanted to. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great video.
Thanks for watching!
Love the outdoor walk and talk. The desk is cool but the short days its too late to get outside after work. This is nice
Short days is right! Although, it's been slowly getting lighter in the evenings this week.
Great job on this video, fav of all the releases 👍
Thanks for watching!
I really like the fordyce, still don’t have one yet. This thing is crazy capable, fun to watch. I tend to lean towards trail trucks , because of scale looks etc. but having something that capable out of the box is very tempting……. And to answer your question, yes I like the format of walking and talking while driving truck , much better than reviewing a truck in studio , keep up the great work 👍
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
I like that review, you showed how it came in the box, and with a great driver it can pull some nice lines, outstanding driving,!!!!!
Glad you liked it!
Well, that was pretty undeniable! Also, yes, more videos like this please
Man what a great review Matt!!! This is the best format I think. Real thoughts, real time while running… makes that much more fun to watch. These types are some of my favorites from you! Keep this up. And dam I wish I had the cash to buy this!!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
love the real world videos. Looks like you a Devil of a time with the Vanquish Stance RTR.
Thanks for watching!
Omg that killed the most of the obstacles! Love that Vanquish came out with a rtr version, awesome video!
I like your videos. Your format themes are great. The effort you put into them is appreciated.
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Great review mate, can't wait to get my hands on one of these.
Great video and a great truck! Excellent one hand driving and filming. That takes a lot of practice to do well. You did well!!😂 Good terrain... had it all!! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
I want one
yes , walk and talk , very enjoyable video .
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wasn’t able to see the SBG sticker you usually put on. Outrageous. Fantastic footage! I enjoy all the “foot”age you provide!
Yes, this style video is great. I've been waiting/watching for you to review something that seems very competent out of the box. Could you do a follow up video for newbies on what you would add if buying one for fun and or local competition? Keep the humor coming! Thank you!
I wouldn’t change anything, run it as-is and upgrade things like motor/esc/servo over time. Enjoy!
Oh man, vanquish killing it with the RTR releases. Great video! Cheers and all the best in the new year!!
Thanks for watching and Happy New Year to you too!
You need to do more videos like this! Such a killer spot
Will Do! Thanks for watching!
Happy new year! Another great vid. It would be cool to see a video of one of these comp trucks vs a trail truck like the cj7 or trx4 sport to really show off what a comp truck can do
Wow, yeah, great idea!
Nice video that looks like my forests here in Sweden.
A future video could be how to build a nice simple interior for this Stance body in plasticard. And say the Tamiya Wild Willy figure as a driver. As well as not needing a 3D printer.
🇸🇪 🤘😎🤘🏁
I think there are a lot of similarities to the geography of Canada and Sweden! Thanks for the idea and Happy New Year!
Impressive truck out of the box, more impressive is the camera work while driving these obstacles one-handed
Wow, thanks!
Excellent review. I've never done comp
You should! It's a great chance to meet people and be part of the community.
I love the walk and talk video.
I just bought my first Vanquish, the Phoenix. I haven’t bought a new crawler since my Trx4. I just didn’t like any of the new Axials.
Thanks for watching and good choice!
I enjoy the more get it out and driving it kind of review or overlook like this video. I do not comp or have any desire too, so I watch just to support the channel.
Very impressive rtr might be in the running for my first 1/10th crawler
Go for it!
Yes I do like the "walk and talk" format.
The Devil's Happy Ending absolutely SENT ME 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great Video Matt! As always
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Im definitely gonna sell a couple trucks and pick this one up. Its got everything you need for an easy ready to run , Im gonna take it to comps for sure
Good choice!
Yes. The walk and real time talk is awesome I like that you have gone to that style for your vids. I’m not a fan of a “music only” vid.
I like to mix it up so you might still see music only in the future, it all depends!
Definitely getting me one soon.
I got a RTR ecto element 1:12 and it did just as good as this. It's surprising how well they handle as RTR packages.
Agreed!
Another great video Matt. Looks like you got a nicer camera. Yes, I also like the walk and talk in the variety of videos you do. Thanks.
Not a new camera, but thanks for the comment!
I like this style of review 👍 (and also your more regular type). Keep it up 😁
Thanks! Will do!
Thanks for another great run and review!!❤
Thanks for watching!
Great video for Walk and talk. I would also love some inner fender wells on these.
I love the channel man. Great work
Much appreciated!
Strong start to title game this year 😆
I feel like 5 slot motor would've really fit better without changing the price point, you then could just upgrade the ESC quite affordably, even if fusion pro isn't very expensive. Nice truck but I'm absolutely not in the target audience for this
Great location man !
Thanks!
Another great review,
Vanquish knocks it out again.
I always thought I was more "trail truck heading to "PreRunner...."
but this hard core rock crawling is growing on me...
this looks great, but I still think I'm going Carbon for the spring...
gotta let the CC cool off after the Holidays...
I hear you about the CC!
As always, Great Video! The truck looks interesting as well.
Thanks for watching!
It’s the new redcat body? 😜
Good to see another vanquish RTR. Hoping to see some new kits this year too!
Thank god you got the silver one! Performance is great and all, but let's face it, you have to look at it while it's performing!
The highlighter color is nicer
So the tires would have to be a little smaller but it looks like a great start. Thanks for the video
Great video Matt, I really like the Vanquish VRD Carbon a lot took mine out this past weekend and it did amazing
Glad to hear it!
I like the walk and talk video. I was not really wanting that truck and now I am somewhat interested.
Matt, Good day, and Happy New Year 🎉. This truck was a real surprise to wake up to. Really enjoyed your running video and review style. Keep up the fantastic work you do.
Happy new year and thanks for watching!
Another awesome demo video!
Thank you!
Great vid Matt! Really impressive rig and sweet location🤘🏻
Thanks for watching!
It was Expert driving! You are a wise, learned man. Capable of overcoming biblical obstacles!
😂 Thanks for watching!
Nice work, Matt! It would be interesting to me to see the Fordyce head-to-head with the Stance.... just to see what the gap exactly is for these RTRs. I know they are different beasts, but, still 😀 Cheers!
Great suggestion!
I saw the panty line!! Great video Matt!! I really like these on the move review videos. Excellent!👍🤙
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was wondering when Vanquish will join the comp crawler RTR segment of the hobby. Great review.
Thanks for watching!
I mean they are only the second company to do it. Redcat is the only other one and that was really recent.
Great video. Like this style of review vids.
Glad you like them!
Awesome truck & awesome video 👍🏼😎
Thanks for watching!
Looks really good for an RTR! I’m a builder, so I’d still pick the kit, also the kit comes with a few upgrades to the transmission that I think are noteworthy. Still, a very impressive rig that, as you said, makes the comp scene easier to jump into. Still not sure about these comp style bodies though…
It looks a lot better than what some people bring to comps.
kinda look like the Redcat Ascent (becoz of that angular design on the front and rear part) but on a little bit of steroids 😅
This outdoor review was great! Is it possible to adjust the drag brake?
I believe so!
チャンネル登録しました👍素晴らしい走破性能👌🚗
For an rtr, that's an impressive truck. Um, may have to checkout the bank balance...
I've been half way around the world and back, and I have to say I would have to argue that 'The Devil's Butt-crack' is nowhere near Eastern Canada 😆😆😆 Happy New Year Matt 🖖
😂
I would add the under axle servo with the holmes revolver v3 /esc and high end 90mm shocks maybe tusks 4.7
Not sure if you’ll see this comment because I’m a little late to the video, but I was wondering what the origin of the stick figure rc sticker? I’ve seen it a bunch of times on the channel before. And I’m pretty sure you mentioned it as well, but I can’t remember. I would love to get one of those stickers!
That graphic is part of Vanquish products logos. That graphic is all about how you stand in a competitive setting when driving your RC Thanks for watching!
Awesome, thank you for the reply. And thank you for the videos!
how would you compare the this performance wise to the redcat ascent with the DSM chassis?
I haven’t driven the RedCat yet, but I’d take a VFD transmission and its metal gears over the RedCat.
Nice beginner for comp, and with some few other tweeks like waigth in the front, it will be a great truck. But oooh man thoes lexans 😅
It has weighted front axle knuckles, I wouldn’t add much more!
@@scalebuildersguild i think i saw them and in silver color. 😊 but no doubt it’s a good truck 👊😎
If you like this video, you should know what to do by now. LOL. Great video man, and great location.
Thanks for watching!
Transmission has sintered gears not the lightweight machined ones.
Light weight steel links, downgraded S8E shocks, Aluminum rails, Plastic motor plate. The kit is the best option for this rig.
Absolutely, I have a couple of them, but for someone not wanting to have $800 or more when the kit is set up it is a good option. @@shaynejenkins446
If you know what you want and plan on spending a ton more, yes, the kit is a better choice. For those that want to start by dipping their feet in, the RTR is a much smarter financial decision.
Wasn’t there a bypass on one of those that went over the devils Canadian moose knuckles, or was it the devils roast beef sandwich? So many devils obstacles…………….eh? I just can’t keep them all straight.
😂
Id love to have one of these can you tell me how to get one???
Would love to know we’re to find the rules for competition
facebook.com/groups/SORRCA
Hmmmm
Looks like a good candidate for a budget build "praise wheel"
Pretty sweet if you want to jump right into comp rigs and you don’t have the time, budget or patience to build one
Agreed!
Thankyou for the video, is this better than the axial iii?thanks in advice
Watch my comparison video to see how it fares against the SCX10Pro.
"ooo darn it" 😂😂
Sick.
Truck looks sick; great videoI just googled the truck but couldn’t find the price. Do you know the price, the truck is next on my list
Another video said $499.
Seems a pretty good deal honestly.
@@jasonbecker4997 thanks and yes a good deal
Great review as always, as far as sorcca competition goes the new changes with there rules leave a lot to be desired, comp 2 trucks aren’t really comp 2, comp 1 really aren’t 1 anymore which really steers me away from sorcca comps, seems like the manufacturers are driving the rules in order to turn a larger profit on there vehicles, let’s face it it cost a lot less to make this LCG crawler than a detailed scale truck that still performs, I would say this vanquish falls at 2.5 classification
The committee is made up of enthusiasts and volunteers, no manufacturers that I know of, so I doubt anybody is steering the rules in any direction to favour sales.
It's a shame it doesn't come with a decent servo like the redcat
200oz/inch isn't terrible, but it isn't top of the pile either. That said, I'd say the sum of the parts here is vastly superior to what comes out of the box with the RedCat.
@@scalebuildersguild what's that in kg 😅 I somewhat agree but from watching the comparison video I'd still choose redcat and spend the saved money where its needed, that's my opinion without an officiate link 😏🤣🤣
@@WoolstyRC ha! No idea, the numbers they list at 35kg doesn’t translate well into oz/inches. We’re entitled to our opinions, but the sheer fact that with the Stance you don’t need to replace tires/wheels/foams, and it’s got a proven, well built, metal geared transmission, better plastics, and exceptional design, means I’d spend my money here and not require any substantial upgrades out of the box.
@@scalebuildersguild ok forgetting you said the servo isn't good enough and I'm sure you said something about the motor 😅 I'm not hating but I'm sure that's what you said
@@WoolstyRC I said “the servo’s a little weak but you shouldn’t expect much from an RTR”. I didn’t say anything about the motor, but did comment that the ESC is well set up.
Did you vent the tires??
No, out of the box, completely stock.
Matt does this body come on clear??
You can get it clear separately.
🤘🍻🤘
🤘
This truck wasn't stock was it?
It is!
@@scalebuildersguild wow I wouldn't have thought it was .. lol
Just went 2 the 1st comp of the year a new rc park we got in the vally wat a spot 2 crawl..will b dropping video soon the winner won a promoto rc bike😊🎉🎉🤟Hello all have a super super 2024🎉🎉🎉
That's great! Whereabouts do you live? Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
I thought this was an 18 scale, fooled me😂😂
I was hoping it was going to be a 24th scale rig.... LOL
A rtr so good Matt can out comp a 10 year old little girl. 😅😂😂😂
😂 Fingers crossed!
@@scalebuildersguild you got this.
A very impressive truck, with some wheels with a bit of weight and maybe a tire change this thing will be a climb killer 🙃
You’ve been watching Logan’s videos by naming all these crawlin spots. Lol
Don't knock comps, they can be a lot of fun, but I get it! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
Thank god it’s not orange.
Was that the devils butt crack? I thought it was the devils front butt cork. I could be wrong.
😂
Like click for the awesome location. I don't like the truck though. I'd never buy an RTR comp style rig. Also hate portals.
Fair enough. Thanks for watching!
…. A little weathering….
