- While the world is in disarray and I look on from afar, like everyone else, I've been at home looking back, trying to look forward. I recognise the privilege I have to even have room to reflect on how far I’ve come - so hello, welcome to my glorified home video that I hope you enjoy and maybe get something from. Also happy 27 years to me ha.

Ah your storytelling with narration and old footage is so so good! So genuine and grounded.
AH thanks Hannah :')
I see in the future you Will be silent hiker, just like what Hannah and Kraig doing. Love it
Agreed. So good...
Yeah, I mastered a number of things to my personal satisfaction on my obscure UA-cam journey but this sort of narrative from collected footage or a framed narrative was something I never got to.
Still bugs me 🤔😁
"While the world is in disarray and I look on from afar, like everyone else, I've been at home looking back, trying to look forward." This is so strong and relatable.
This was a really, really, great video. You've got a great storytelling ability.
I'm so hungover and have zero energy to do anything therefore I've spent the past few hours refreshing my UA-cam home page desperately hoping to land on a great piece of content that would hopefully make me feel better and dare I say maybe even make me feel inspired! Ladies, gents and everyone in between, I have finally done just that ✨
How dare you make me cry, this was absolutely beautiful I can't tell you how much you've inspired me.
You are one of the best visual story tellers on the world! Love everything you make 🥰🥰
This is not just a compliment...it is the truth. She is not only mechanically good at her craft, she also pulls from her human experiences and uses the entire world as her story board. It's a gift not just to her, but to all who are fortunate enough to experience her creativity.
Just learned a new word. Aotearoa. What the native Maori called their island, New Zealand. Great video. Come back and visit us. California.
Yeah that’s what us Māori and also some Kiwis call our home country. Which in English translates into ‘Land of the long white cloud’. Our people are very spiritual, like most other natives around the world.
I’m an Australian who fell in love with Denver and Colorado as well. Lived there 2006-2009. Consolidated my love of hiking ❤️. Will always have a piece of my heart. I came home to Oz because of the GFC, met and married my kiwi husband.
Had a little cry, I miss home so much. I'll be back eventually Aotearoa 🇳🇿🇳🇿
When it comes down to it, leaving home and experiencing all these new things just allows us a new perspective into what we took for granted - sometimes it's just what you need to break apart and stay away, sometimes it helps you appreciate what you had even more, enough to come back with a fresh mind.
Why am I in tears at the end? God, you're good. Glad you popped back up!!
More than anything, your love of life and joyful energy to go where your heart calls you to go shouts to our soul! You remind us of what being fully human looks and feels like. Much love to you, Elina.
Only those who wander know the true meaning of home.
It's not always a place, it's not always the people, it's not always the same, but the feeling you get when you are there, or when you know you are finally going home, is unlike any other.
I hope you get a chance to wander far and wide again (and I hope I do too ;-) ) so that you can once again experience the feeling of going home.
One of my favourite songs is by Dire Straits, called Going Home. It was played on the aircraft as we boarded - 2 days after my release from hospital - the memory of it can still make me cry. I arrived in the middle of winter wearing just a t-shirt. I didn't feel the cold or the wind or the rain. All I felt was the joy of finally being home.
I'm glad you're back here, safe and sound, and telling your stories. I look forward to some more of your adventures ;-)
I am so glad I found your channel. Your cinematography, narration and editing are just phenomenonal. Never seen anything quite as special as your stories. Thanks for sharing
Dammit Elina i love and hate your videos! it's not right to feel this nostalgic on a monday. and never before have i felt more grateful to be living in this beautiful country, and more home sick for my own place of birth. Bloody good job! Keep it up!
Every time I watch one your of UA-cam videos I am just so inspired. Elina you really have a talent for what you do. I hope you never stop!
Fifty years ago in NYC I the best man at the wedding of Jim & Vi Turnbull from Wellington. There were working and traveling their way around the world. This wanderlust is a glorious Kiwi affliction. NZ is the most glorious place in the world. Make your home base there and travel too. Your openness is why you meet such great people everywhere and keep talking about it and what you are feeling and how you are growing. Many happy returns...... Michel Pariseau Haddam Neck CT
Crying. Just a beautiful video. So heartfelt and true.
You good soul you ... loved this too- Being a Kiwi myself who lived in NY for 16 years & now in Europe for 3 ... it’s easy to see this & have my heart strings get pulled by a national feeling of ‘belonging’.
Once again, I am blown away by your talent for storytelling. Your videos are truly incredible - watching them makes me feel so inspired and hopeful. Thank you for making them, Elina
I'm an import to Colorado, moved here three years ago. And it still feels like a dream and a blessing to wake up in this amazing place and call it home. You perfectly described the excitement, beauty, and joy of this glorious state. Thank you for continuing to story-tell!
Just stumbled across this video and loved it. I'm a kiwi who moved away at 21 with a wandering lust to see the world. Miss NZ like crazy.
You are the best visual storyteller on UA-cam. Amazing video.
Great home movie. I am impressed by how much footage you've saved over the years just to be able to share it. Awesome. Also I love sincerity and not-acted sound of your voice in the nararation.
As with every single one of your videos, amazing amazing amazing!!! You invoke such emotion and raw feeling. Thank you for your this and please keep them coming. Hope you're keeping safe 😁
Elina you are a natural at storytelling and documenting. Thank you for taking us along with you.
Elina, I knew I would love it before watching. I couldn’t help but notice your mother really, really was happy to see you again. You should include her in one of your next projects. I can see a series of shorts “Cooking with me mum”. There’s a lot of meat (veggie meat) on that bone. Just say’n.
Thank you for these wonderful little tidbits.
Haha veggie meat, love it. A series with okaasan would be so great :')
How brave to go to NYC! I don't think I would have been able to do it even back then. I'm 76.
Colorado is nice because of the people. I'm originally from the east coast but after the initial homesickness, I am happy here.
Your videos are thoughtful, introspective, and a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing, and taking us on your adventures.
Wonder full :-) You are aligned in the cosmic flow with all this time spent in reflection, gratitude, and backtracking (current planetary retrogrades) in regards to "home" and your wanderlust. I too have traveled extensively and used to reside in NY- then returned "home" to UK last year, specifically to ride out the rocky road of 2020. I will continue to stay here. Check out the Southwest coastal path in UK about 450 miles along the Jurassic Coastline. It's glorious and ridiculously steep in places! I am soooo tempted to head out myself whilst the world stages more lock downs... Blessings to you Elina
Great video. There is nothing as good as NZ. As a kiwi living in Australia for the last 21 years I still love being back there. You have a great talent at video production and story telling. Keep it up.
Your storytelling and editing is next level. Making me cry onto my pizza Monday evening is a job well done. 👏🏼 👏🏼
You tell stories with a big ❤. Stay well.
That is absolutely beautiful Elina. ❤️
Such a nice home video!
Happy birthday, Elina 😉
so well put together, moved me to tears actually! love it & love your channel!!
Not FIN. ENTRACTE. You are not complacent, you had experienced brief, intense affairs with new places and people. Your memories will fill you with the joy of those days/months/years, but nothing will match your original feelings of "finding home" except experiencing new places and people with whom you can enjoy intense relations. You can never go back without it being a disappointment. You must always move forward to have those intense feelings.
I just finished fourteen years of provisional living. Before that I lived in a different country every two to four years over twenty-five. My experiences with people, places and events paralleled your comments and videos; I embraced the location, dove into the culture, loved the people, fell in love, ached when I left each place, person, lover. But soon I was somewhere new and the beauty of newness filled my head and heart again. Almost forty years of this led me back to family, where no one understands my experiences. But it is home. Eventually, you find home, and you will be happy to have roots.
That very long hug that your mother would not break was an underlined statement that should not be missed. You are the warm hearth in her home and heart. The foreverness of real love. Continue to dream and adventure fearlessly as long as you will. But in your heart, know you have a home, a love, forever. You have only arrived at an intermission.
I couldn't have said it better.
You’re so ridiculously talented. Was so stoaked to see this posted! Beautiful. 💕
Wonderful!
This was so moving. Thank you for sharing your art. You have a gift.♥️
I hope you find many stories to tell. Not sure if there is any limit on your ability to touch us emotionally. I smile, shed a few tears and always feel awed by your camera work and editing. Big screens await you.
Always been a fan of yours and always will be. Keep telling stories.❤️
