RD as stock had a beast of an alternator (360W) I seem to remember. I used to run a 100/90W Cibie spot for a headlight on mine in Scotland and never had a problem with the (tiny) battery going flat.
I'm running the slipstream cycle works rear sets. I did find that i had to make tiny brackets that drop the exhaust mounting points about 1/2 an inch down to clear properly, but apparently, that's uncommon. I'm very happy with them and they have a really sweet solution for the rear brake. I do want to add a rubber boot to the shifter as it keeps rubbing through my shoe laces since the shifter is just knurled aluminum.
I did the same (Rick’s Motorsports VR) conversion on mine and it blew my inline power fuse and meted the fuse holder before I could even fire it up. Did you find a fix?
Sounds to me like you maybe had a faulty unit or had some wires connected incorrectly? I haven't had any issues with mine. Got it from Economy cycle, been putting miles on the bike with no issues.
I have a RD250 and im looking for a clean single guage setup like that. How is it getting mph? doesnt that come from the speedo cable thats usually on the left side front axle? Also what key ignition is that?
So its a motogadget chrono classic gauge. It comes with a hall effect sensor and 2 tiny magnets. I jb welded one of the magnets to the brake rotor. When designing the brake caliper bracket, I made a perch to insert the sensor into so that the magnet can pass the sensor with each wheel rotation. Pretty simple setup, you just need to make a bracket for the sensor for your application. You set up the wheel diameter, number of magnets, etc in the gauge settings and it calculates the speed. The gauge/key ignition bracket is something i designed as well and had machined. I used Solidworks and sent the files to a machine shop. A fair amount of custom adapter pieces to the front end swap i did!
If your regulator/rectifier is going bad then definitely! A nice compact unit, had to do a little massaging to the battery tray to fit this regulator, but other than that no complaints.
@@chillhomebody2958 pull apart your weed eater and your chain saw after doing that , and you’ll see scoring on cylinder wall at exhaust ports , it’s not going to hurt a thing to let it warm up . imho and if you don’t believe me just start it up cold and start reving the shit out of it , note what happens, then repeat on cold engine start and warm up touch head then rev the shit out of sitting there … note results & note this abuse of the little engine crying noooooo
When you let a 2stroke sit idled, it's gonna load up the plug, when you race 2strokes you'll see professional racers at the line tweaking on the throttle, getting thst 2stroke off the plugs.
Martha got it right, I always let it warm up a bit and cruise on it for a few minutes before warming it up. Just editing the boring parts out. Good catch!
I own a baby version of this beast that is Rx 135 ( 2 stroke )
Love from India 🇮🇳 ♥

Hi.
Which rearsets are you running?
I myself has a RD350 with the same JL exhaust.

@@Enginerded I had the same thing happen today on my R5
narrowed it down to regulator plugged in ...didn't blow with rest of connectors plugged in!
my R5 did the same thing
Fixed it! previous owner or someone had the wire going to the brush grounded!!! green wire coming from regulator....working fine now

I miss my cafe racer :(
Would you recommend this mod? Is it worth it?

Mzb cdi ?
Nope, stock points ignition for now
Yamaha 2 strokers
Dude, let it warm up a bit before.....
You don't wanna let 2strokes build fluid and gas to the plugs. Soon as it starts, get on that powerband...

He always warms it up. Edited it out.

First
If you ain't first you're last!
That's a banshee, your switching the gears too fast. Try to stay in your powerband..
