- 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 - 2.5" Eibach Pro Truck Coilover Stage 2 Lift Kit (front adjustable coilover shocks & rear shocks) and Toytec 1" Rear Lift Block Kit
In this video, I will show you how to lift the 3rd Gen Tacoma. I will be installing the Eibach Pro-Truck Coilover Stage 2 Kit and the Toytec 1" Rear Lift Block Kit. The installation process takes some time to install, so it would definitely be easier if you have a 2nd set of hands to help you out throughout the process.
In the end, this suspension upgrade will lift the front of the Tacoma by 2.5" and 1" in the rear. Please note that any lift above 3" on a 3rd Gen Tacoma will most-likely require additional suspension components (in addition to possible drivetrain modification requirements).
One of the great benefits of this suspension setup is that I am still able to align the vehicle to meet factory specifications! I highly recommend Eibach as a terrific option to choose from when it comes to lifting your Tacoma!

The best tutorial on a Tacoma lift install I've seen!
Thanks! I try 🤣. I appreciate the support and thanks for watching!
@LevelUpMechanics what size tires you hvae have on the taco
@tonyvega7268 they are 265/70/R17's 👍
I like how you did without disconnecting UCA or LCA method. Saved a lot of time with just pry bar and moving sway bar. Well done thanks for the tips. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful 👍 . Just remember, the longer the pry bar, the easier the job will be 🤣.
Ha! I just finished reading The Shining and am looking into a lift kit for my Tacoma. Seeing REDRUM in the headlights had me spitting out my coffee and wondering if I lost it. Nice work!
Thanks lmao 🤣 I also added an Axe 🪓 in my "bed accessories" video just so I could continue with the theme for my tacoma...
Now I just need to think of some more ideas 💡 🤔
Thanks for posting this video. Just installed my kit. Man, it feels way better in the front now. Love the stance now as I have the same size tires as you.
That's awesome! I'm glad I was able to steer you in the right direction 🤣.
Eibach is one of the best affordable & reliable performance options out there for the Tacoma right now. Thanks again for the UA-cam support!
@@LevelUpMechanics the ride is so much better than stock and the level is perfect. What else are we upgrading @Level Up Mechanics? 😆
Led light bulbs, a flat tailgate panel, and ditch lights are currently on the docket (while I save up for some rock sliders) 😁
@@LevelUpMechanics awww yea. I’m looking into LED light bulbs next too
i just got my Taco and you are an underrated channel sir i can't believe you are under 1k ,
Thank you very much for your kind words! I really appreciate the support and I am looking forward towards reaching that 1k milestone (hopefully at some point in August)...
But until then, I will just keep pushing forward. Thanks again! Comments like yours are the best!
Not necessarily a Tacoma guy, but dam, you've set yours up looking great! Beautiful truck man
Thanks 👊👍. I appreciate the support! I still have more upgrades planned for 2023 😁
@Level Up Mechanics nice nice. I actually just received this same stage 2 kit for my f150 today🤙🏼🤙🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
That's awesome 👊👍. I've been using eibach suspension on my vehicles for over 20 years, and I'm always impressed with their quality & performance.
I hope that you have the same experience with your F150 😁👍
just finished doing this stage 2 on my 2021 TRD Off-Road , thanks for the great tutorial !
I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful 👍. I'm pretty happy with this setup so far. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it as you break it in 🤔 😁
🍻 Cheers! 🍻
Great Tacoma videos as always. Thanks again for linking all the products you use in the description!
No problem! I'm glad the video & info was useful. 👊👍
Beautiful truck, love those headlights! Whenever I see one in this color I wonder why it's not more popular, the red and black looks fantastic.
Thanks! I am definitely a fan of the Barcelona Red 🤣. I really want to see an electric lime tacoma someday (in real life).
Looks nice and level. Also, love that you switched to the black lower valance. The color matched valances on the Sports always looked off to me.
I agree. I like the matching black valance look on tacomas too. Eventually, it will be replaced with a CBI Covert Series front bumper... I like this option because it still has the same look as a stock bumper.
2” front 1”. Rear is a good setup for everyday driving and looks good as well.
Agreed 👍👍 It's a mild lift that is great for a daily driver. Thanks!
Damn that lift sure made the truck look good. Nice video!
I think so too 😆. Hopefully some day I'll get to supercharge the 🌮 like you did with your ⚡
@@LevelUpMechanics superchargering the 🌮 would really be cool. 😎
Truck looks awesome buddy! I had a 3/2 Readylift Bilstein kit but they kept back ordering it so I decided to not get it. Stuck some new wheels and 265-75-16 Toyo’s and truck looks totally different now. Great video my Barcelona Red Brother.
Thanks! I am really liking the stage 2 kit so far... I think it's pretty safe to say that the Tacoma is the best vehicle I've ever owned.
Great look. Just got my Eibach Stage 2 Suspension Kit today. Can't wait to install it. Your video is definitely going to help others install it. Thanks.
Awesome! Congrats on the new suspension! Eibach is a great choice when it comes to a quality suspension upgrade @ a fair price. I hope your install goes smoothly!
Thanks for watching!
Another great video with lots of details. You make it look easy. Man, the rust already. You need a headlamp! Lol… Did you get any vibration from the OEM needle bearings yet? End results look fantastic. The lift combined with the upgraded wheels & tires are fabulous! Oh I noticed you still don’t have a bed mat yet. I highly recommend the Toyota OEM rubber bed mat. Stops things from sliding around.
No needle bearing vibrations yet (no vibrations at all so far) lol. I actually have the Toyota OEM bed mat sitting in my living room lmao 🤣 (waiting to film another accessory video).
I am really liking the suspension upgrade! The stage 2 kit really absorbs a lot of the bumps from various terrain. I love it.
Thanks for the bed mat recommendation lol 😆. I'm starting to think we have very similar tastes lol.
Hey man, great video! Super informative!! I bought and installed the exact lift. Front coil overs came pre set at 3 1/8” from collar ( I’m guessing for easier install?) but after I put the wheels and lowered the front was way higher than the rear, so I lowered the front to 2.75” to level out. Do you remember what you set your coil overs to? Assuming you went level?
I adjusted my coilover setup so that the front would have a 2.5" lift, and I installed a 1" block in the rear. With this setup, I still have a slight rake (where the front end sits slightly lower than the rear end), but it's not as much as the stock suspension setup.
Thanks for checking out the video! I appreciate the support. I hope this info helps! 😁👍
The perfect amount of lift
I agree 👍. You can still get the Tacoma dialed in to factory alignment specs without buying additional suspension components.
And it won't create any annoying drivetrain / drivability issues from being lifted over 3".
So far, I'm absolutely 💯 thrilled with this setup! Thanks for watching!
Those are some good looking stands.
Hell yeah they are! I know a guy at work who has all the best tools & equipment lmao 🤣
Excellent tutorial! I plan on doing this eventually. Did you have any of the needle bearing vibrations so many people are getting?
No abnormal vibrations to date. I was still able to dial the alignment to factory specifications without any issues too.
So far the eibach suspension is performing very well!
Keep in mind, a lot of people do not notice the vibration in the gas pedal and floorboard
Awesome, you convinced me to get this lift kit. Buuuut, where you get those headlights though 👀
I retrofitted the stock headlamps myself 😁. Here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/Bkv5o96GRVg/v-deo.html
Great video. During the install of the rear blocks it looked like the bed had a body lift. Does your truck have a body lift? Thank you
Nope, no body lift. Thanks for checking out the video 😁👍.
sir.how's the wheel alignment goes with the factory upper control arm? planning to buy this eibach 2r for my truck but i dont want to changes mY upper control arm.thanks
I was able to dial in the alignment to the factory specifications without needing aftermarket upper control arms.
I've been running with this setup for a while now with no alignment issues whatsoever 😁👍.
You should be just fine using the stock upper control arms with this setup 😁 👌.
SUPER NICE COILOVER kit. 👌
They're not too bad lol 😆
Could you please tell me how the ride quality changed vs stock? Thanks in advance. Great video!!!
The ride quality is excellent! The suspension does an excellent job at absorbing bumps & uneven terrain when compared to the stock suspension.
The ride quality is smooth and responsive. I would highly recommend eibach suspension. I can definitely feel a major improvement overall...
Thanks for checking out the video! 😁👍
How did you get your paint to look so good? Wax? Ceramic coat? It looks great.
Honestly, it's time for another detailing video to show what I use 😆. I use a lot of chemical guys products.
Wash, clay bar, polish, and wax. For the wax, I use chemical guys hydro slick ceramic coating hyperwax.
@@LevelUpMechanics thanks. I've always used basically the same process with mgwire's products. I've never used anything with ceramic in it. I'll have to give chemical guys a try. I'll be looking for your vid. You've got the best looking truck on you tube.
Great video, one of the best that I have seen on the Eibach shock installation.
1. I own a 2009 4-wheel drive Tacoma and I have the Eibach Pro-Truck 2R (2.0) front shocks and the Eibach Rear Reservoir shocks. So my front shocks are identical to yours. I am going to install them tomorrow and I am concerned that the ride might be too stiff compared to OEM shocks or softer shocks like Icon or Fox. What is your opinion? I am not installing a block lift in the rear like you did. I am installing new Eibach reservoir rear shocks. They lift the rear around an inch or so according to their specs.
2. You marked something on the front suspension in order to get it back close to the original alignment. What exactly did you mark and why did you mark it? You still have to get the truck aligned after you install the new shocks, so does it matter if you mark this as you did?
Thanks! I appreciate it 😁👍
1. As far as the ride & handling are concerned, my eibach suspension sill feels like the oem trd sport suspension that was on my tacoma, with one exception... the eibach suspension is more responsive to absorbing bumps in the road. Before, if I went over a speed bump (for example), the whole body of the truck would bounce up and down as the oem shocks tried to absorb the movement. With the eibach suspension, my tacoma feels so much another as this setup is far more capable.
The ride is smooth and responsive, so I'd imagine that you will feel a major improvement on your older Tacoma 😁👍.
2. I'm not sure exactly what I marked on the front suspension (it's been a while since I made this video). On my tacoma, you can adjust the camber & caster with the 2 eccentric bolts for the front lower control arm bushings.
I would mark the position of these bolts on the eccentric washers and the subframe so that I could loosen these bolts (which will allow more movement to get the old shocks out and install the new shocks).
Once installed, I could then line up those bolts back to their original position. That way, the alignment would still be as close as possible to its original settings (enough for me to drive the Tacoma and get to the alignment shop).
Also, just FYI, your eibach rear shocks are designed to allow an extra 1" lift in the rear, but they won't actually lift the rear. Shocks do not control ride height (the front coilover springs and the rear leaf springs are what controls the ride height). You can still install the rear eibach shocks on your Tacoma, but in order to change the ride height, you would need blocks, an add-a-leaf, or a new leaf spring setup to change the ride height.
Let me know how it goes! I'm interested to hear what you think about your suspension once it's installed.
I hope this info helps 👍.
@@LevelUpMechanics Thank you so much for your quick and thorough response. I am just starting the shock replacement on my truck right now, So your advice comes at a very timely manner.
Yes, I think I understand what you marked in the video and why. When you loosen the lower control arm, the two "eccentric" bolts adjust the pitch of the front wheels. I think by eccentric, you mean that these bolts slide to adjust the alignment. So marking them allows you to get the truck back to its closer alignment. Thank you for clearing that up.
I have done a significant amount of mechanical work on my truck, but I am not a professional mechanic. I am an engineer, so most of the time, I can study repair manuals and/or watch UA-cam DIY videos and figure out complex repairs. This is the first time I have replaced shock absorbers on my truck (it has over 200,000 miles on it) and so I am a complete rookie with this repair.
If you have time, I have another question. I am only going to lift the front end of the truck 2". It is my understanding that I do not need to replace the upper control arms for a 2" lift. The Icon upper control arm is constantly raved about, but it is over $800.00 without tax. I am not going to be racing this truck and only take it off-road occasionally. Do you think I should replace the upper control arms? If you do think I should replace the upper control arms, what replacement brand would you recommend? Icon is great for desert racers, but I don't need that level of strength.
Another question, Eibach sent two plastic zip ties with my repair kit. I think they are for the upper (top) part of the shock boot, to hold it in place. Did you put zip ties on your rear shock boots when you replaced your shocks?
Thanks again for all of your help.
@franklong6269 you shouldn't need to replace your upper control arms for a 2" lift up front. I still have my oem upper control arms, and they are doing just fine. I would only recommend replacing the upper control arms if you go past a 3"+ lift in the front...
You are correct. The plastic zip ties are to hold the shock boots in place. I used them for mine too.
Good luck with the install! 😁👍
Would you recommend the Eibach stage 2. In the process of selecting
Eibach has two "stage 2" options. The "stage 2R" comes with better rear shocks that include external reservoirs. Both "stage 2" options have the same ride height specs. 😁👍
Great video, are you thinking to put bigger tires now?
Thanks! 😁 Eventually, I will upgrade to some 285/70/R17's (or bigger if I decide to get a set of aftermarket wheels & make some body modifications) 🔥🔥🔥.
I still have a lot of life left on my current Falkens though, so it may be a while.
Hi, awesome look, love the red! Can you tell me what size are your tires please? I recently installed a Dobinsons lift kit and I'm undecided about the tire size but I definitely love the look of yours.
The tire size is 265/70/R17 - Falken Wildpeak All-Terrains
Thanks for checking out the video! I hope this info helps! 😁
What is your measurements from the ground to the fender for fronts and rears?
I'm not quite sure of the exact measurements at the moment. But I know that the suspension setup LITERALLY lifts the front end by 2.5" (front) and 1" (rear blocks).
I'll try to take some measurements here soon and get back to you 😁👍.
Perfect tutorial my friend!
Thanks! Hopefully there was some useful info in the video!
Do you absolutely have to install the new relocation sway bar link brackets? And if so, does that come with the kit? Your truck looks legit bro thanks.👍
The sway bar relocation brackets do come with the kit. I do believe that it is required to be installed, or else you run the risk of the front sway bar contacting the front suspension while driving (which could cause potential ride & handling problems).
I appreciate the positive comment! Hopefully this information helps!
@@LevelUpMechanics yes this info helps out greatly, appreciate the response.
so did you adjust the front at all? or just left them they height they came in at
I had to adjust the left front coilover a couple of turns. There was about a 1/4" difference in height between the left front and right front.
The front coilovers came pre-assembled for a 2.5" lift. Only one minor adjustment was needed 😁👍.
@@LevelUpMechanics sounds good. thanks! have this kit sitting in the garage just waiting on some tires to come in👌🏼
Great video on installing a lift, thanks for sharing. I Really like the grille with LED lights, but couldn’t find video on it, please share. Thank you!
The front grille was actually my very first UA-cam video lol 😆
ua-cam.com/video/UQaCbtNJUcM/v-deo.html
best video ! made me want to buy the stage 2 and blocks..... I am on it!
any issues with the kit or blocks? regrets?
No issues and no regrets! The eibach suspension upgrades have been a major improvement (when compared to stock TRD Sport suspension).
I've always used eibach for every car I've modified and I am never disappointed. I would highly recommend this setup for anyone looking for a modest lift (and improved ride & handling) for their Tacoma. 👍👍
@@LevelUpMechanics have you had to replace the needle bearing ?
Nope. No needle bearing issues so far... I've heard that this issue is pretty "hit & miss" on lifted Tacomas... but since this is a mild lift setup, I am pretty sure I've dodged a bullet in regards to this issue.
@@LevelUpMechanics good to know ! I am waiting for inventory so I can buy my stage 2… that and Ray 10s
Nice 👊👍! Definitely an awesome suspension & wheel combo!

I would definitely recommend spending a couple extra $$ for the GEOMET rotors from R1Concepts. Less brake dust & iron deposits.
@@LevelUpMechanics I’m doing the eibach stage 2 as you did . I figured to to the brakes at the same time. Thx for you awesome videos
No problem 👍
Since the installation, have you ever adjusted your coilovers? And has it gave you a true 2" lift up front since installation?
Has the suspension settled in yet? If so, did it sag tremendously or?
After the installation, I drove around for 2 days before I did the alignment, just to give the suspension a little bit of time to "settle in".
Right before the alignment, I measured the left front and right front body height and found that the left front was 3/4" lower. I made a couple quarter-turns on the left front coilover to raise the left front corner and re-measured to verify that I was now "leveled" on both sides of the front end. Once I was happy with the results, I then proceeded in performing the alignment.
I still have a true 2" lift up front with no sagging issues, alignment issues, or abnormal tire wear. The Eibach suspension is still performing wonderfully and I have 0 complaints.
I hope this info helps! 👍
Any clunking issues? Been reading on the forums about noise from this kit coming from the front end
Absolutely ZERO issues since the first day it was installed. It's been a while now, and the eibach suspension is still performing like it was brand new 😁.
I have not experienced any clunking issues at all. I do know that some people accidentally install the front sway bar brackets (which are included) incorrectly, which causes clunking noise in the front end.
As long as you follow the instructions carefully and install the components correctly, you should be very happy with this setup.
I've been using eibach suspension on all of my vehicles for over 20 years now, and I'm always pleased with their quality and performance.
I hope this info helps! 😁 👍
Didn't like the ride or view out the windshield. Adjusted coilovers to bottom and ride is much better and the fun drive returned.
I'm glad it worked out for you 😁👍
Great setup all around. Just purchased my Stage 2 kit but I'm on the fence with a 1" block or 1.5 " add a leaf? Any suggestions? I have a long bed and will be adding a Leer cap to the truck shortly.. Not sure if the add-a leaf will make the truck too high and ride a bit rough.. Thanks again for sharing !
Since you will be adding a Leer Cap in the future, an add-a-leaf might be the better way to go. It may help to offset the extra weight.
Technically, when done correctly, leaf spring upgrades will give you better ride quality than blocks. The eibach rear shocks are designed to operate well with a 0" to 1" lift... so an add-a-leaf combined with a Leer Cap should put you in a good position in terms of ride quality 👍
Thanks for checking out the video! I appreciate the support 😁
Looks good, i got my westcott installed too.
That's awesome! Westcott upgrades for TRD Pros are awesome 👌
Did you install straight out the box or did you adjust to achieve a 2.5in lift? Thanks
I installed straight out of the box, and then measured both sides... I found the driver front was lower than the passenger front by 1/2", so I made a minor adjustment to the front left to make up for the 1/2" difference.
Once both sides were equal, I took the Tacoma in for an alignment. I highly recommend measuring both sides once installed to see if you may need to make any slight adjustments.
I hope this info helps 😁
That looks good, could you fit 285s with that lift? Just found your channel and been watching your videos all night.
It would be a tight fit, but you could fit 285s. If I put 285s on, I would definitely want to modify the fender liners & body to make the fender liners tuck into the body more for added clearance (just to be safe).
I hope this info helps and thanks for checking out my videos!
2023 Tacoma trd here, added this kit and did 2” on driver side coilover and 1- 5/8 on passenger side and run 285/70/17 K02’s with no rub whatsoever no matter what I do daily driving, not sure about off-road though. Looks great and rides good!
So I just got this kit for my 3rd gen. I noticed on the sway bar relocation, the instructions say for 05-16. So does that mean on the 3rd gen it doesn’t get installed ?
No, you still need to install the sway bar relocation kit. I don't think eibach updated the model years on their pdf files for the instructions.
Awesome thanks for replying!
Another question, what height are the coils set to out the box? Is adjusting recommended? I want to get as much out of the coils without compromising the comfortability. I’ll be installing these today. & will most likely SLIGHTLY adjust the drivers side to compensate for that “Tacoma lean” lol
The coils are set at about 2.5" right out of the box. After installing them, I made some quick measurements to compare the driver side & passenger side. I ended up having to adjust the driver side (just a couple 1/2 turns) to even everything out. 😁👍
Hey bud, would a 2” rear block be to much for that shock? I’m just asking because I have a topper, and it’s a little heavy?
I would think that you'd be maxing out the travel of the rear eibach shocks with a 2" rear block. Eibach states that the rear shocks are designed for a 0" to 1.5" lift in the rear.
Eibach is actually supposed to be releasing a new rear shock for the Tacoma in the near future. Fingers crossed 🤞 that it will allow extra travel...
Question is it level or is it more higher in the back with the blocks ?
The eibach suspension (with the rear blocks) makes the Tacoma leveled (about 90% more than the stock suspension setup). 😁👍
@@LevelUpMechanics I order the same lift how ever I called 4wheel parts and they said they don’t recommend adding the block in the back because it’s going look taller in the back then the front so I’m confused at this point hahah
@@LevelUpMechanics in the front did you do the 2-1/2 or 3 inches and blocks in the rear
So all trucks (including the Tacoma) have a natural "rake" to the suspension (the front end is lower than the rear end).
With my suspension setup, the front end is lifted by 2.5", and the rear block lifts the rear end by 1". As a result, my tacoma still has a "rake" to it, but it's a lot less than normal.
I am very happy with the performance of my eibach suspension & rear block combo. It has a very aggressive appearance, and the ride & handling feels 10x better than the stock TRD Sport suspension.
0:44 pocket screwdriver gang represent
Hahaha! Absolutely lmao 🤣
Great video.
Thanks! 👊👍
So the kit out the box doesn't lift the rear? You need to add a block to it? And why did you go with toytec block and not eibach?
The rear shocks that are included with the kit allow +1" of travel in the rear, but the shocks themselves do not add any lift. The rear leaf springs determine the height of the rear suspension.
So with that in mind, you can either install blocks or you can install an add-a-leaf to the rear leaf springs to raise the height of the rear suspension.
The only reason I went with toytec vs eibach was for the simple fact that eibach was out of stock at the time of ordering the suspension parts.
The stage 1 & stage 2 eibach suspension kit options are designed to be a more "conservative" lift option that will improve overall suspension & steering capabilities without adding unnecessary strain on the other factory parts that an aggressive lift would affect on the Tacoma (ball joints, driveshaft, axleshafts, etc).
The eibach lift kits are also designed to give the Tacoma a more "leveled" setup by raising the front end slightly more than the rear. All trucks have a natural "rake" where the front end sits lower than the rear with the stock suspension. This setup just helps to minimize that downward slope.
I hope this info helps to answer your questions! 😁
@@LevelUpMechanics gotcha! I was heavily leaning towards these but there’s a thread on tacomaworld where several people are reporting topping out over speed bumps causing loud noises. Did you experience any of this?
No issues over here. The suspension works even better than the stock TRD Sport setup. The ride & handling is much more responsive. Less wheel hop when going over bumps and less body roll when turning into a corner.
So far, my experience with eibach suspension has been great 👍
Did the sway bar relocation brackets come with the kit or did you buy separate?
The sway bar relocation brackets are included with the kit 👍👍
@@LevelUpMechanics sweeet. Thanks for the info
Anytime! 😁
Great installation
Thanks!
I think I missed it. Why did you use the Toytec instead of the Eibach rear lift block?
Because Eibach was out-of-stock when I ordered my suspension for the Tacoma 🤣.
Otherwise, I would have ordered the eibach rear lift block.
@@LevelUpMechanics awesome thanks for the info! Your truck is looking nice!
No problem! Thanks for checking out the video and the support!
How's the ride so far? Is it much stiffer than stock? I have dc trd sport with long bed and putting ko2's that are not the softest tires. I like stage 2 but might be too stiff, no idea... what are your thoughts?
The stage 2 lift kit is still absolutely 💯 worth every penny! The ride is terrific and performs 10x better than stock. The ride quality does not feel stiff at all.
As a daily driver, this setup improves overall ride quality. With the stock suspension, I could feel a good amount of "wheel hop" when driving over bumpy roads (potholes and whatnot). With the stage 2 lift kit, the "wheel hop" is virtually non-existent and the Tacoma feels much more responsive as a result.
Tires with a higher load rating (like an E-rated tire) will definitely make ride quality a little more harsh on their own. But as far as the eibach stage 2 suspension is concerned, it should help to improve the overall feel of the Tacoma.
In the end, I would highly recommend this setup (even with stiffer tires). The ride quality is perfect for daily driving & will perform well off-road.
@@LevelUpMechanics Thank you much!
Any time 👍
@@LevelUpMechanics forgot to ask, why you picked Toytec 1" Rear Lift Block Kit instead of Eibach ?
At the time I ordered the suspension, the eibach rear lift block was out of stock. That's all 😁
I got the same lift kit but I like how you said it’s better than mine 😢
I said it was better than yours? I'm confused lol 🤪
Do you have wheels spacers in the front?
No wheel spacers installed...
Did these come with new bolts?
Some new hardware (including nuts & bolts) comes included with the lift kit.
However, you will reuse a majority of the oem bolts / hardware from the Tacoma.
Is it out the box 2.5” ?
It should be, yes 😁👍
She's a beauty
Thanks! I have a lot more in the works for her...
Love ur setup!! Do you mind to share the reasons that you chose this lift kit ?
Sure!
1. Eibach is a reputable company. I've used their products in the past and I have first-hand experience with the quality that comes with their suspension components.
2. I wanted only a minor lift. If you try to lift the 3rd Gen Tacoma 3" or more, it can get rather expensive (additional / custom parts needed) and create all sorts of new problems (vibrations, ride & handling, drivability, etc). I still want my Tacoma to be reliable without going into massive debt lol 😆.
3. This setup still allows me to dial in the alignment to stay with factory specs (without having to buy UCA's and what-not). Plus the front adjustable coilovers can help remedy the infamous "Taco Lean". It may not be a cure-all, but it can help alleviate the problem.
Eventually, I will upgrade the rear leaf springs. But for the time being, I am really happy with this current setup! The new suspension feels much more capable than stock. I can tell that it absorbs harsh terrain far better than the stock suspension.
All in all, I am very happy with this setup 😁
@@LevelUpMechanics all great points!! Thanks so much for sharing 😀
Anytime 😁
I'm getting these install in 2 days. Did you adjust the front to get 2.5in or it was aleready set by Eibach? Maybe a miss that part?!🙄
Nice! The front coilovers were preset to 2.5" by Eibach. However, I did do a before & after measurement in the front (not seen in the video) to check the lift difference.
I did end up adjusting the left front coilovers a couple of turns (since the left front was slightly lower than the right front - probably due to the "Taco Lean").
After the final adjustment, I took my tacoma in to get an alignment.
Do you have a spacer on the rear?
I did install a 1" rear lift block to the rear suspension. As far as wheel spacers are concerned, there are no wheel spacers at all.
Tire size?
265/70/R17
How much lift does the rear shocks give?
The rear shocks do not lift the vehicle, but allow a 1.5" maximum lift for additional shock travel.
You would need to install an add-a-leaf or a "block" to lift the rear. I installed a 1" rear block.
I hope this info helps 😁
@@LevelUpMechanics thanks I was just wondering, so I'll know what to get, gonna go with the aal
No worries. I'm glad I could help 👊👍
How do they feel off-road at like 30 mph on bumpy rocky trails?
Honestly, I haven't had the opportunity to take the Taco 🌮 off-roading as of yet. However, this suspension handles / absorbs potholes and poorly paved roads @ 30 mph like a champ🏆!
It really is a major difference when compared to stock suspension (on a TRD Sport 4x4). The performance of this setup is amazing on the road, so I can only expect similar improvements when off-roading.
@@LevelUpMechanics that is so cool! I have a Ford Ranger and rear leaf springs are soooooo stiff. Looking to change those to the ICON multi leaf and hopefully the same shocks as yours or the Fox 2.0 but I heard I might have to rebuild them every 10 to 50k lol that’s crazy! I’m glad these are working out!
What tire size are those?
👍 265/70/R17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's 👍
How does the rear ride with the block?
Honestly, as a whole, the suspension is terrific! The Tacoma handles / rides 10x better than the stock TRD Sport suspension.
The rear suspension is great 👍. Since the rear block is only 1", it doesn't add too much stress on the stock leaf springs. The rear eibach shocks are designed to accommodate a 0" - 1.5" lift in the rear, so the rear shocks & lift block combo is perfect as far as ride quality is concerned 😁.
Now if you had a 3" block in the rear, then I'd say you might have some stiff suspension issues, as you would be creating excessive stress on the leaf springs and the shocks (in addition to your driveshaft & drivetrain components)...
Overall, I am extremely happy with the front & rear ride quality of this suspension setup and would highly recommend it! 👌
@@LevelUpMechanics Thanks for the detailed review 👍. I just installed the lift on my truck, sans the lift block.
The ride is very nice like you said, but I noticed a pretty dramatic dip in gas mileage, and the truck feels almost like it's being held back. Hard to describe. Thought an alignment might help as I assumed the toe would be out, and it was, but to no avail.
I'm thinking because I didn't lift the rear at all, that the geometry of the drivetrain is off to the point where it's binding up the truck a bit. I think I'm going to go the progressive add-a-leaf route (most ate 1.5 inches of lift I think) to see if I can recover some of the stock geometry. Thoughts?
The add-a-leaf route (1.5") would be a suitable choice, for sure 👍.
As far as mpg's are concerned, it can be normal to notice a dip in fuel efficiency as a result of a change in your suspension setup (since you are changing the angles of your front axleshafts & driveshaft). One thing you can do to help alleviate your driveshaft angles is to install carrier-bearing spacers... though I think it helps more with potential driveshaft vibrations / shudders than it does with mpgs.
Just keep in mind that adding a leaf spring / rear lift block actually modifies the suspension / drivetrain geometry more...
If you're looking to recover your lost mpg's, I would recommend looking into the KDMAX Performance Tune (another video on my channel). It will do wonders for your Tacoma and can improve your fuel efficiency.
If fuel efficiency is your goal, then I'd recommend the KDMAX tune with 87 octane & SLT throttle settings. I personally chose 93 octane & SLT throttle settings on mine because I wanted more performance improvements (as opposed to fuel efficiency).
What jack stand are those? Btw can you still lift your truck with the hydraulic jack after installing the lift?
The jack stands are just regular 6 ton jack stands. I can still lift the Tacoma with the Daytona hydraulic jack, but it would be very useful to purchase an extension in the future to make it easier.
@@LevelUpMechanics thanks man! Btw how's ride till this day? Is it still stiff or does it feel plush? And how's the rear shocks. I'm not sure if I wanna buy them or wait for the piggy back to be release
The ride is still great 👍. The suspension is still absorbing a lot of impacts (much better than stock)! I am very pleased with the performance of this setup.
@@LevelUpMechanics awesome thanks!
@@LevelUpMechanics btw. Have you ever over extend or bottom out yet with this new setup? Atleast trail wise? Bumps etc? If so, are you still on stock bump stops?
What size tires are you running with this kit
Falken Wildpeak AT3W 265/70/R17. I am extremely happy with this setup!
@@LevelUpMechanics Hello waht do you think of doing 265/75r17 with this exact setup?
I think it's definitely possible with the combination of this lift kit and the 4Runner TRD Pro rims that I currently have.
If you are going to use stock rims, then it may be a different story. Stock rims have a +30mm (or is it +35mm? Its one of the two) offset, whereas my 4Runner rims have a +4mm offset (pushing the wheel "out" by about 0.75" to 1"). The more negative wheel offset allows for a bit more wheel clearance.
I hope this info helps! 😁
@@LevelUpMechanics awesome 👌 just subscribed. your channel is amazing! I actually have the same lift and just purchased the same wheels because of you! Now I just have to find some tires, hopefully black friday gives me some hope on decent prices.
Nice! Thanks for the support! Happy hunting for the tires 👍. I'm holding out for some Black Friday purchases as well 😁.
Let me know how it goes with the 265/75/R17's. From what I've seen, you should be able to run this size with no fitment issues... but I'd definitely appreciate hearing back to see how your experience goes 👍
When do you adjust coilover height? Did you go higher?
I actually adjusted the driver front coilover slightly before I started the alignment. It is easier to adjust the coilovers if you jack up the vehicle so the weight is off of the wheels & suspension.
There was a 1/2" difference in height between the left front and right front (left front was slightly lower).
I gave the left front a couple of turns, put the vehicle back down on the ground, and then re-measured to make sure both front sides were at the same height.
@@LevelUpMechanics okay cool. Eibach said to adjust them to the highest position before installing. Running stealth customs ray 10 17x8.5 -10 with 285/70/17 . Just ordered the lift today
@@LevelUpMechanics did you compress the coils while adjusting height or was it simple?
It was simple. No compression needed. You just have to make sure that the wheel is off the ground to take the vehicle weight off of the suspension.
If you still have trouble at that point, you may need to use a metal pipe that can fit on the handle of the spanner wrench to give you more leverage (and spray the coil threads with WD-40).
However, I didn't need to do anything (besides lifting the front end) in order to adjust them.
2.5 inch front, 1 inch rear. Does the truck sit leveled?
Yes. The Tacoma sits leveled with this suspension setup 👍
Never Use a power tool with a wire brush it will melt the coating off the boat
Hand brush only
It will also smooth out your threads where it won’t bite as hard as it should
That's definitely a good point... however, if you think about it, I'm only cleaning the rust off of the "unused" threads of the bolts 🔩...
I've never really had an issue with this technique. But I definitely appreciate the tip! 😁👍 Good to know 👍.
What’s the tire size
265/70/R17 - this size is a great fit for stock suspension & eibach suspension 😎
@@LevelUpMechanics nice bro 😎
Thanks! I hope the video was useful 👍😁
@@LevelUpMechanics yeah man thinking bout this set up or stage 1
From what I've gathered, the stage 2 kit is dialed-in a little better (shock rebound, spring rates, etc) than Stage 1... but if you are on a budget, you can't beat the stage 1 option!
Tire size?
265/70/R17
