Actually found another companion while I was playing during the editing process!
Really enjoyed this one, and am very excited to see if it gets updates down the road.
Post-Release Edit: Also, I never mentioned this game was developed by Yahtzee Croshaw (of Zero Punctuation/Jacques McKeown books, now doing Fully Ramblomatic over on Second Wind) due to time constraints, but just so it's said. I've been watching his stuff since I was 12, and following the development of this game from his Dev Diary series, which gives a great insight into just how much work creating games takes, was a delight.
All that to say, it's possible reviewing a game by one of my favorite writers lends itself to some bias. That said, I genuinely enjoyed my time with this game and am going back for more post-video, so I do recommend giving it a go if anything in this video caught your eye.
Captain Conan O'Brien, out.
The algorithm gods have blessed you, see well with this boon. You've got some serious production value for less than 1k subscribers, keep at it! People complain of the audio balancing but I found no issue personally. After watching your FELVIDEK review, you've got some good scripts with some genuine wit and humour to them, even if this one felt a little bit more serious and focused on touting it. Take my subscription, I will follow your progress.
I've already seen a few comments complaining about audio balancing, but they're missing the fact that your script and flow is really good! I've yet to hear a video essayist this small who sounds so audible and well-spoken. Subscribed!
Thank you! I appreciate the comments on audio balancing though, always something to improve on. If anything, I take it as a sign folks care enough to comment on the stuff I need to improve on, because the writing/presentation caught their attention in the first place.
LOL, the whole time I was thinking "This person's voice sounds just like Jack Packard"
All I need to do is shave my head and they'll surely let me on Red Letter Media.
So....death stranding in pixel art in space?
How did it take me until now to see the package delivery connection.
sam houghton and joe collison from "bullets per minute" ? Nice and unexpected :)
the music during your conclusion was so loud i literally couldnt hear what you said
Thank you for the feedback, going to get my audio balanced better in the future.
You need to improve audio balance. Can barely hear you
Thank goodness for auto captioning!
So, kinda like Sundog, but with better writing.
And now I know what Sundog for the Apple II is! I can see some similarities, but for sure the writing in Starstruck is a big selling point. A review for Sundog (that I just now looked up) stated "playing Sundog is so enjoyable that it's easy to forget about the mission" and that rings true for Starstruck, but it does a really good job of making the main plot/companion quests be a welcome and natural extension of the primary gameplay loop.
It was made by someone who takes their comedy writing very seriously 😂
