What you revered to as a field goal at about 11:35 is called a drop goal attempt, which gives you 3 points if successful. It is a successful way to get more points on the scoreboard and wins games when you struggle to break through the opponents defense to score a try. We won the 1995 World Cup with almost just drop goal attempts, scored by Joel Stansky! It was epic!
South Africa has won 3 world cups thus far, tied with New Zealand for the most world cups in the world. However, South Africa is the most successful World Rugby Cup team, since the Bokke have only participated in 7 of the 9 World Cups, but won 3 of them, whereas the All Blacks(New Zealand) have played all 9 World Cups and won 3, which mean SA has a 43% win rate and the ABs a 33% win rate. If we win the Currently ongoing world cup, South Africa will have participated in 8 World Cups and won 4 of them, giving us a 50% Win Rate Edit: Also, there are a variety of Rugby clubs and the like in South Africa, you can just basically google a local one and join one when y'all move to SA
Yeah! That's just I wanted to say! You can choose to be a Stormers, fan or a Sharks fan, or one of the others, the Golden Lions, and so on, wherever you decide to live and enjoy the passionate vibe!
Unless the All Blacks have lost every single test since 2021 that is false. In 2021 the All Blacks win percentage was 77.12% our if 612 tests between 1903-2021. The women's team, the Black Ferns, is even more successful at nearly 90% win percentage.
Got to love our team the Springboks, they play with passion & pride. Want to note; in American football you are allowed to pass forward but not kick forward during the match but for Rugby you are not allowed to pass forward but you can kick forward at any time. Great content & enjoyed getting your reaction to a sport we South Africans hold dear to our hearts.

@3:01 Top paid rugby players do not even get paid close to what the league minimum is for NFL. The minimum is apparently higher than what 99.9% of rugby players make. Our top earner, Handre Pollard, earns R31 million annually, which is about $1.6 million US.
Number 14 is Kurt-Lee Arendse and some footage shows Cheslin Colby. Field Goal is 3 from a penalty and 2points for converting a "try". A try is 5 points, in line with where you scored a try when the kicking tee is placed at any distance from the goal line. On a penalty kick you get a chance to kick from when the penalty was rewarded, You can take space backwards for a better angle at the kicking post, but not forward or closer to the Opp goal line
I am a South African and we love our boys and they are tough man. Get cut, bleeding, no problem, just keep going. Our boys are some of the best in the world and we are super proud of them. I can tell you, they don't earn as much as they should and no wher near what American Football players earn. I recon our boys are so tough, if 1 leg got lost at the knee, they would cutr the other leg to the same length and carry on playing, just kidding, but they are super tough. Rugby is so exciting to watch and is bringing our country together, no matter what the race or gender, Rugby brings us a together, as our poster says, "Stronger Together"
As an Aussie who grew up playing and watching rugby, but who has been following the NFL now for a number of years, I'd say your observations are largely correct. In general, NFL players are probably more skillful, but very specialised. You cannot take a linesman and make them a wide receiver etc .. each player has a very specific role. In rugby, players have positions and general roles, but everyone has to multitask. Another key point is that although a team may substitute a few players at certain times, in general the whole team stays on the field for the whole match, and if you leave the game you cannot come back again. Also the game does not stop unless the ball goes out, points are scored or there is an infraction of the rules. Thus the players have to be fit enough to be able to run 80 minutes without stopping often. Rugby and NFL both great games, but NFL is more tactical chess, running set pieces and being advised from the coaches on what to do, rugby players make it all up as they go along. I love both codes for their different skills and styles.
NFL is 3d chess. Rugby is 4d chess. You have to be skillful, tactical, spacially aware, hard, fast, strong, adjile, tough, calculated to be a NFL player when you get a play. With rugby every player has to have most of that while using critical thinking skills while being live in the action. No stops to discuss plays just fast decisionmaking and intuition of reading flow not only in the players but the environment (stadium), the weather and the equipment all while being the team managwr live in play also. Yes there is coaching staff and the give instruction to players during the game but 80% of the decisions are made by the players on the field in the moment. Both are great games though and I've been an Eagles fan in South Africa since my pre-teens.
🇿🇦 Watch the Springboks on Sunday, 15 October play France in the quarter finals of the Rugby World Cup! Rugby is a sport that unites a country and we always welcome more supporters! Go Bokkeeeeeeeee!

12:25 - scrum caps. Usually utilized by the forwards as they clash heads in the scrums often causing cauliflower ear and other injuries. However, it can be worn by any player. You'll find back line players wearing them as they have probably had a previous concussion (remembering there's no helmets like NFL, head injuries do occur). The scrum caps offer minimal protection but more than they would have otherwise
I am from South African ❤❤🎉really proud to be one we take our rugby really serious bro u should come check South Africa out only true south Africans will know what loadseding is😂😂😂 If u are proud to be a South African like this comment 👇❤❤🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
7:15 you can kick the ball to your player as long as they are behind the kicker when the ball is kicked (on side). It can either be a high ball like that kick, or a grubber which is when the ball is kicked low and rolls on the ground to the receiving player
🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 Thats Ourrrrrrr Booiiiiiiiiiiis... Rugby and don't forget the braais ouens😂 Rugby really brings all South Africans from all sorts of life together. Once the Bokke go on, for that time of play and throughout we just become who we all are and that's South Africans
11:20 - similar to field goals. You may score 3 points at any stage of the game by dropkicking the ball between the poles. If you are awarded a penalty for an offense, you may too kick it over for 3 points but this kick is generally where the ball is placed on a kicking tee. For every try scored (ball placed down over opponents try line, you get a chance to kick at goals for 2 points, this is usually also kicked off a tee.
The head protection is like in wrestling. It just protects from cauliflower ears. I played rugby for a long time. I'm glad you're liking it. Go Bokke! A try is 5 points, then a conversion just like nfl does is 2 points. a drop goal or penalty is 3 points. I hope that helps abit.
Well done! The first basic rules are much defined by. A) what is called the offside line rule. ( not to cross depending if you are part of a scrum or lineout) and b) the fact that you can never pass forward! C ) a score("try") is 5 points and 2 bonus point if you kick it over aferwards. ( hence trying to score close to poles). A penalty can be kicked to rhe poles and that is worth 3 points.. Penalties are in most cases given when you unlawfully cross the offside line or holding on to a ball that you should have released when tackled...there are a number of rules that makes the game very interesting. Just for your information. Each team have 15 players with 8 substitutes. Of the 15 players 8 are forwards and 7 are backline players. There is on average 1.5 serious injuries per game ! And yes... people have died on the field before..but lately they enforce lawfull playing very strictly.
11:39 different types of kicks (when wanting to get points). 1) after a try, you get an uncontested (kinda) kick for poles off a tee, worth 2 points 2) a penalty for certain foul play during game. this is also semi-uncontested off a tee, worth 3 points 3) a drop kick (can't be a direct out of hands kick) that happens during open play, worth 3 points
Number 14 is the position, not the player. In this video 2 number 14's are featured, and both of them are exceptional. Kurt-Lee Arendse and Cheslin Kolbe. There plenty of tribute reels for both of them and other individual Springbok players as well like Eben Ethsebeth, Lukhanyo Am, Faf se Klerk and others. Another one to watch out for is Makazole Mapimpi's tough climb to reach this level of the game from rural beginnings to the most inspirational number 11 and prolific scorer. There's is also a good little British video lots of guys have reacted to about the rules of rugby that will give you the fundamentals of the game. I am sure wherever you guys settle, you will find a social rugby club that will be happy to give you a shot at the game
14 - Cheslin Kolbe 06:10 - Scrum (Can occur when a player fails to release the ball after being tackled or in case of a forwarded pass) - In Rugby you don't pass forward, only backwards. - The ball kicking (Drop goal) is allowed and come in both open play & a penalty
Hey man. Love your enthusiasm for our most favorite game is SA. Go check the game we played against France. It was not our best work and we were all over the place. But we brought it back in 2nd half and just did what needed to be done.
In Rugby you always pass backwards, a kick is the only quick way do win some field when done right, but you do risk ball posession. (some teams tend to run the ball more ,others kick, the trick is balance) The forwards are also the strength positions, the backs are fast.
11:20 Yup you're 100% correct, it's like a field goal :) We call it a "Drop" or a "Drop Goal" because you have to let the ball hop on the ground just before you kick it, you can't kick it directly over the posts. So after a "Try" which is Rugby's "Touch down", you also get a field goal opportunity which is called a "Place" or "Place Goal" which is placed stationary on the ground. You get 2 points for the "Place goal" and if the play is still live, you can do a "drop Goal" and you get 3 points for that. The "Place Goal" can be seen at 14:33.
Rugby has always been a hooligans game, played by gentlemen. Outside of passing the ball forward, you can do whatever you want as long as your intentions are honourable. I think it's the reason so many fellow South Africans can rally behind it. That and THE '95 WORLD CUP!!!!!!!
@@erichjacobs809That game was so epic I don't even care that we lost... it could have gone either way, the action was non-stop, and there were so many passages of play where my neighbour and I didn't find the time to sit back down on the sofa; Just standing there shouting into the TV lol.

6:16 The scrum is a means of restarting play after a stoppage which has been caused by a minor infringement of the Laws (for example, a forward pass or knock-on) or the ball becoming unplayable in a ruck or maul.
Rugby is amazing love it. All the physical brute force. And then later they shaking hands again. I'd prefer rugby over other sports anyday. Locally I'm a Western Province/stormers person ...and definitely a Springbok 🇿🇦 fan internationally! RSA for the RWC2023 win. 🎉 🏆
The tactics of rugby and American football are completely different. In rugby you can only pass the ball backwards, but can kick forward. American football is based on plays, however rugby is a continuous flow of play without many interruptions, unless it's a penalty.
The two current best nations in rugby are clashing tonight, if you want to watch an absolute masterclass, please turn on your TV and sit back and enjoy :D
Was hard to watch. Everyone in my house closed their doors and begged me from screaming too loud. Ref swallowed the whistle and blew it through his ass in the play of the game. Never in the right place. How was picking Eben up by 2 players be ok? Ref shout, bring him down to the ground safely, and we get blown up like seriously
6:15 is called a scrum. Both teams forward players push against each other. The ball gets pushed into the scrum and you have to push over the ball and you can either hurdle the ball further if the scrum doesn't collapse, or you can take the ball out and continue the play. You normally scrum because the other team got a penalty.
Only 4 Nations I have respect for (Other than all 4 nations who play from mine, im British) In order, Bokks, Kiwis, Wallabies and the Argentinians. Anyone else is fifth best impo.... Peace and love from Wales 🏴🏴
I always loved american football and used to be a fan of Reggie Bush way back then..But Rugby is more brutal..Im hoping for a great outcome with tonights game crossing my fingers for the Springboks ...😊
7:20 - kicks can happen literally at any stage of the game. Players chasing after the ball have only one condition, they must be behind the kicker when the ball is kicked, or be passed by a chaser that was behind the kicker

I do like rugby but what I really like even more is NFL football. I gotta admit, in terms of minute to minute/ (second to second 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th down) drama nothin comes close to the NFL.
Damn!!! Colorado 😢. Coach Prime😢. The 3-0 streak 😭. This effin sucks.
Not a foul brother. A stoppage, you right it results in a scrum.
In South Africa we take our Rugby serious we are the word champions for a reason....Hope you enjoyed your experience in our beautiful diverse country. Go Bokke!!!!

WE WON!!! CONGRATULATIONS to the entire 33 person team. You did us proud. Our great captain gave a brilliant after match speach. What he said was true. We have many problems in our county but we have great people who stick together when needed. We were all behind our team.
These guys don't play for themselves but for + - 70 million south Africans and they are the best in the world and that makes me proud to be a South African Goooooooooooo Bokke !!!!!!!!!
SA might be going down the toilet, but the Boks spark an incredible sense of unity and pride to every Saffa. I dont even understand rugby, no interest in watching, but following their journey to yet another world cup. GO BOKKE! Bring it home again boys!
There are actually two players who played 14 in this video, both equally small but lots of speed, technique and both world class players. One is Cheslin Kolbe in 5:20 , 9:48 and 12:50 ,etc the other one is Kurtley Arendse in 13:05. Kurtley Arendse also wore number 11 in 7:58 and number 23 in 12:13
moody is also in the video as a 14
Cheslin is GOAT

Kurt-Lee Arendse is 14. 3 pts for drop goals but the ball must touch the ground before your foot connects. Also 3pts for penalty kick

Heyy man yeah this is from my country we just got in the finals for the worl cup number 14 and 22 is my favourite player 14 is Chelsin Kolbe
If we win the Currently ongoing world cup, South Africa will have participated in 8 World Cups and won 4 of them, giving us a 50% Win Rate
Edit: Also, there are a variety of Rugby clubs and the like in South Africa, you can just basically google a local one and join one when y'all move to SA
That’s impressive
Yeah! That's just I wanted to say! You can choose to be a Stormers, fan or a Sharks fan, or one of the others, the Golden Lions, and so on, wherever you decide to live and enjoy the passionate vibe!
Go to your local sports grounds to find a local team
Unless the All Blacks have lost every single test since 2021 that is false. In 2021 the All Blacks win percentage was 77.12% our if 612 tests between 1903-2021. The women's team, the Black Ferns, is even more successful at nearly 90% win percentage.

😂 I enjoy your facial expressions and all your commentary. It's time for you to come and visit South Africa!

And now, the 2023 world champions!!!!
South Africa need to to adopt you, your whole heart is hear and thank you for all the videos, displaying our beautiful united country
As a South. African I support my southern hemisphere people , if we loose I'd rather Australia or New Zealand take the cup, others Fuk it

7:15 you can kick the ball to your player as long as they are behind the kicker when the ball is kicked (on side). It can either be a high ball like that kick, or a grubber which is when the ball is kicked low and rolls on the ground to the receiving player

I’be always appreciated the athleticism of Rugby! The passing and running game, especially without the restrictive padding…fire!!! 💯
I love the puzzled look at around 6:05 at the scrum.. lol
Thanks for educating me
My fault I meant to say a conversion makes it a total of 7 points. I know it's a point in NFL other than a 2pt conversion@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE
American has its own Rugby team..go join and learn more about the game..should have club's
Proud South African here 🇿🇦🏉👏🏼 Not to sure how much the make but I love watching the Springboks play. 🤗
We're not allowed to throw/pass the ball forward. 🏉
You are awesome, you have passion for the game!!!!
11:39 different types of kicks (when wanting to get points).
1) after a try, you get an uncontested (kinda) kick for poles off a tee, worth 2 points
2) a penalty for certain foul play during game. this is also semi-uncontested off a tee, worth 3 points
3) a drop kick (can't be a direct out of hands kick) that happens during open play, worth 3 points
Thanks for educating me

14 - Cheslin Kolbe
06:10 - Scrum (Can occur when a player fails to release the ball after being tackled or in case of a forwarded pass)
- In Rugby you don't pass forward, only backwards.
2:37 I am proudly South African. The Springboks are the best!
It was really interesting hearing your comments on the differences between Rugby and American Football
👍🏾
Rugby has always been a hooligans game, played by gentlemen. Outside of passing the ball forward, you can do whatever you want as long as your intentions are honourable. I think it's the reason so many fellow South Africans can rally behind it. That and THE '95 WORLD CUP!!!!!!!

6:16 The scrum is a means of restarting play after a stoppage which has been caused by a minor infringement of the Laws (for example, a forward pass or knock-on) or the ball becoming unplayable in a ruck or maul.

06:12 - It's called a 'SCRUM' used to either get the ball over for a point or prevent one
6:43 is a scrum. Our forwards are beasts and that’s why our couch uses a 7 - 1 split. So he can bring on fresh forwards for scrums it’s genius.
The tactics of rugby and American football are completely different. In rugby you can only pass the ball backwards, but can kick forward. American football is based on plays, however rugby is a continuous flow of play without many interruptions, unless it's a penalty.
The number 14's are actually different people.😂 Kurt Lee Arendse and Cheslin Kolbe
