@Michael Bolton Not from what I read today, a guy was walking in Guadalajara, tourist going to the store from his Airbnb, they grabbed him, without giving him the Opportunity to Show them his Visa, that was NOT expired, they took him to a place where they Beat him up, and then took him to PRISON, and put him in a small cell with about 20 people, and he even witnessed some of those people being Tortured. They did Not allow him to Get his belongings from the Airbnb or make that One Phone Call. SO PLEASE STOP with the BULLSHIT. They Act like Savages here and they like SAVAGES THERE TOO.

Absolutely agree with the "over kill" of documents to have when traveling int'l. I was returning from a volunteer assignment in Thailand years ago and was dress like a "bum" even though I was traveling business class. The airline attendant noticed my "casual attire and must have called someone because before I was took my seat an airline rep. approached me asking for a receipt. I thought he meant the boarding pass (which I had a copy of).
He said that he wanted to see the receipt of payment for the ticket !! I don't usually have this but for reasons I cannot explain, at the time I made copies of documents I thought I'd need, I made copies of the credit card receipt when I purchased my airfare.
He took the document, left and returned saying that everything was in order. I don't know what to say to this. Maybe dress nicer if traveling business class ? Or if you think you're going to need certain paperwork....go ahead and do it.
Man. that would have completely ruined my return trip home after months volunteering in southern Thailand after the '04 tsunami. If you think you need it get....even if it seems like over kill sat the time.
Luv your vids................keep it up.......learn something all the time from you!!!

They have forms in English at the airport. You don´t need proof of accomodation, there is no such requirement. An onward ticket is not required either (for most nationalities), and also no need for an invitation letter. You fill out FMM and custom form, that´s is (and the health questionaire). Don´t need anything else.

If you have all documents you will never go wrong. Mexico loves asking for paper, keep all receipts. Another thing is if you rent a car and go on a toll road keep the receipt there. It is needed if you get in an accident.

I'm interested in hearing how you got your apartment. In the last three months in Ecuador and Mexico I've had to get SIX refunds from Airbnb out of eight properties. I'm a long-time user of Airbnb, both as a guest and a host, and I don't think I've ever needed to ask for a refund before, but I've just stayed in Europe, SE Asia, and N America. Things are different here. One property where I stayed in Cuenca, Ecuador was excellent and very reasonably priced. The place I'm currently in is substandard and I'm paying way too much for it. Never again. I'm still here because I know I can't do any better in Merida/Progreso and I don't want to travel because of Omicron. Airbnb really needs to educate/crack down on some of these hosts. Most of them in fact. I wish they'd kicked me out at the border.

One thing wrong that most foreigners get wrong is that _something_ with immigration law changed and Mexico is being very mean and not announcing the changes. The truth is that the law has ALWAYS been like this. A tourist's stay has ALWAYS legally been at the discretion of the interviewing official. It's just that for many years, officials were relaxed and gave anybody who looked somewhat trustworthy the 180-day stay that is the legal maximum. Now because of several things (pandemic, recession, Central American and Caribbean migrants, and now Russian, Belarussian, and Ukrainian migrants) INM has instructed officials to be more stringent and judicious with the visa lengths they award.

Wow. It really sounds like they want to discourage American tourism. I had planned to go to Mexico sometime between October and February and wanted to arrive without a return flight booked, then take my time and travel from Mazatlán to Puerto Vallarta, Gudalajara, Ajijic, San Miguel, Guanajuato, and Querétaro in that order, spending some indeterminate number of days at each place before moving on the next. Then MAYBE visit Mexico city before booking a flight back. Based on what I've been hearing lately, looks like maybe none of that will actually happen. I mean, if you want 1 or 2 months to explore for purposes of a possible future temporary residency app and they give you only 7 days, that will mess things up considerably. There are countries further south that are worth exploring, so maybe I'll focus on them. Panama? Equador? Colombia? Costa Rica?

Mexican migration law have been changed in the last years due in part because of the thousands of migrants from Central America, South America and Caribbean that are seeking entry in the USA and because the government wants to implement more ways to filter tourist from other countries, I do not see this as a bad idea countries like USA or Canada allow tourist only the time the immigration officer think it is necessary not six months.

Unfortunately things in mexico arent that clear cut. Ive known at least a dozen travelers who presented all sorts of proof explaining what they would be doing in Mexico for the requested time and the officer still only issue less time. Some immigration officers are on some sort of power trip and with a huge smirk will write 19 days when you clearly demonstrated plans for 21. One poor Israeli Gal was interviewed, was very well prepared with 5 months of documented activities. Some which she had spent lots of $$$ booking, to have the really mean officer say "Interesting, but Im only going to give you permission for 9 days" consider yourself lucky. i only give 3 day stays. Then you have a whole bunch of travelers who truly have no set plans, are planning to work in exchange for food, no return flight yet they were issued 180 days in 30 seconds. Officers tend to care. The worse airports are usually Cancun, Mexico city, Cabo. The easiest and friendliest have been Guadalajara, Cozumel, La Paz, Guanajuato and Oaxaca.
    Happy Travels!!!

  • @jgoodygoods512

Everyone needs to write their respective embassies. There are bilateral agreements in place and Mexico cannot just place random “at will” restrictions - well they can - but this would be a violation of what they have declared. Everyone must take action against this policy as it is not in line with international norms either. No person arriving into a country is not told they get a limited number of days in a tourist Visa - THEY ARE TOLD if they are not granted the entire visa…otherwise this would be considered a corrupt practice and travel advisory or alert would be in place. Then the government of say the US would work to make conditions more favorable for its citizens. It’s not a matter of entitlement, it’s a bilateral agreement.

So please if you don't have anything good to say don't say it, or stay in Canada for the winter. By the way I defend the same way Canada from people who talks bad things about it.

DAYS granted at ENTRY for tourists depends entirely on the immigration officer you get. Entry doesn't require a visa for Americans and unless you look like a slob and/or talk like a jerk, or exude suspicious character, you'll always get 6 months.

    • @sherunswithscissors
      @sherunswithscissors 2 роки тому

It does require a visa - you get it when you arrive. Entry in any country depends on the immigration officer but people shouldn’t be surprised to be asked the exact questions someone would get trying to enter the US or Canada.
