I was a skeptic when t started seeing Canik reviews pop up on UA-cam. I bought a TP9SA and got bit by the Canik bug. Now I have the Elite and the Elite SC. I love these guns!
I held out until just last night. Got the blackout edition and have to say I am impressed. Haven't shot it yet but from everything I hear and read I don't expect any problems.
Bro your channel is on fire what a pro you are I really liked how you went in full detail while you had the weapon on that grip it looks so professional and you covered two of my favorite guns.you rock
Every time i saw the dimensions and that 1.4 inch width i KNEW those slide stops were the reason. Glad to have it confirmed and it’s funny that i actually figured it was close to the width of a g2c. My former carry weapon.
I just got an Elite SC from a trade. It is brand new and never fired. The only thing I don't really like is I have the bronze slide model. I'd rather have the tungston. But honestly I like the feel of it. Can't wait to try it out.
Thanks a lot, that’s the best review I’ve seen for a Handgun, ever. I carried a Walther CCP, loved it, but it was stole from my truck and I’m pondering a Canik SC to replace it. Keep up the good reviews.
Walther ccp m2 is the best edc I've ever owned. Traded mine for the tp9sf elite and wished I would of just kept the walther and bought the canik. Traded the canik for a ruger american compact 9mm but the canik is a wonderful pistol and the model elite with 4.19 barrel is on my list again.
Bought the Blackout version last summer and to be honest had no clue it was the Blackout version till I got it home an saw it on the box. It was the only one they had at the base exchange an she followed me home. I have owned the Tp9 V2 since 2016 and the gun is amazing. I wouldn't say it is better than Glock , Sig or H&K. These Caniks are great value for new shooters an those on a budget. These pistols haven't stood the test of time yet ( no slap towards the pistol) the other ones have proven themselves many times. My weapons ownership has changed as I have gotten a little older. I bought the Elite ( SC) to prepare for transition from .45 scp to 9mm for EDC. I am no fan of Red Dots on pistols but can see them as my eye sight deteriorates. I have a smaller double stacked pistol to carry me into my senior years. Giving up my Glock 30 FS will be hard but so was giving up my 1911 when transitioned to Glock 8 years ago. Great Review ! That explaining the issue of the Loaded Chamber Indicator affecting the type of Red Dots was spot on by you. Know Canik like I do, I'd bet they'd adjust to the American market. Same as they did with the " decocker drama from some earlier TP9 models. My only issue with this pistol ( doesn't bother me I like it's size) the pistol is on between a Sub Compact and Dirty Pistol. It is very close to the size of a Glock 19. That isn't Sub Compact. I had my share of issue with Sub Compact from the Detonic .45 days. Between the fireballs an muzzle flip, I have never been a fan of SC. Exspecially for use people with Big hands. Those grips just get lossed in our hands. Plus I like to have that pistol " butt" as an attitude adjustment tool LOL. Great work again on the video. Semper Fi
Stopped at my LGS today; they had an SC in the case. The short grip was very uncomfortable in my hand, the bottom of the grip hitting right in the middle of my palm. The "extended" mag base plate did allow a full 3 finger grip, but I couldn't get over how uncomfortable the short grip was. And the higher capacity mag does nothing to ameliorate the situation. I then handled an M&P single stack and though that grip was too narrow the length was slightly longer and much more comfortable. I don't have big hands so I can't imagine larger hands finding this gun to be comfortable to shoot.
Good review. This is my next purchase. I own several of the TP9 series guns. I have used the TP9SFX mags with my Elite Combat in USPSA & IDPA matches & have had never had any double feeds or jams in over 20K rounds. However for some reason 2 of the 8 mags with the Plus 2 base , the slide does not lock back on empty, all other mags are no problem. These Caniks just run & for the money, I feel they are one of the best values out there.
Thanks for watching Tony, these Jan-iks are some of the best out there for the money. I'm thinking the feed problem has to do with stock 18rd springs being used with extended base pads. I keep having the problem no matter what with white box ammo and my hand reloads using blue bullets...I'm still testing some ammo with stock 18rd flat basepad mags, so far those are working well.
I traded a walther ccp m2 for a tp9sf elite, the one with the 4.19 inch barrel and it was a beast. That walther was my favorite cc to date and I've owned the shield 9 also and I liked the walther more. But,traded the walther for the canik at night and realised it had a few blemishes and he had spray painted the barrel and my ocd kicked in so I traded it for a ruger american 9 compact which I'm very happy with but that black and bronze slide tp9sf elite is absolutely on my list. The one with the paddle holster and optic sights. The sights were decent but not what I expected for fiber optic sights and do no good in low light and I'd rather have just bright white in low light. But it's a awesome item for sure.
Does the red striker indicator move farther out as the trigger is pulled, like on some walthers? Or does it just disappear back into slide when trigger is pulled. The former helps alert to unwanted trigger movement. Great vid!
Had 3 light primer strikes in the 1st 100 rds thru the gun now have over 500 still has light primer strikes cant trust it so back to my glock 29 for my edc
@@oldfart269 man thanks for the comment but ive ran everything thru it including hp and have a new firing pin and still at least 3 light primer strikes per 50rds
Wow I'm surprised to hear that. I have been carrying this thing every day since this video was made and shooting it in many steel and UPSA matches. I primarily shoot my own ammo I make using RMR bullets with Titewad and Titegroup powders using Federal and S&B primers. I have shot some factory store bought ammo recently, it was the NORMA 9mm 124gr, super power round, but not much other store bought ammo has been though it because of all the reloading I do. I have a minimum of 10k rounds through mine with all the matches and training I do with it at the club....plus I bought those plus 9 extensions from TY, very nice and ammo pours out of my gun like water. Still has original firing pin and recoil spring, I've done no upgrades other than adding the new gold Canik trigger in Feb 2023. I have never had a fail to fire unless it was because I put a primer in backwards, never can figure out how that happens. I would contact Canik and ask if you can send it in with some of your ammo for them to test...only other thing I would suggest that might help is locking back the slide every day or over night when not carrying...I did this for a while, like a month, when I first bought the gun, the stock recoil spring is super stiff when the gun is new. It might help, might not...good luck and thanks for watching.
I recently bought a Canik TP9 combat elite executive, and i was wondering, (with a certain brand of holster), if my gun would fit into an tp9 sa holster or a tp9 sf elite holster. Any feedback would be great!
Fair review. Too much time spent on empty weights. I don’t shoot an empty gun. I shoot a loaded gun. Plus a little more slide weight helps lower recoil and increases accuracy on follow up shots. Also , try your full size TP in the compact holster that came with the SC. I am told it will fit fine. Contact Century Arms customer service for holster recommendations. They have at least 6 or 7. Your magazine problem / feeding problem while using the extended mags is because you are pushing the magazine up in to the gun too hard. Try a gentle insertion and they work fine. I LOVE the loaded chamber indicator. Just learn to shoot with iron sights.
Yo pcpolice, thanks for watching. I'm an iron sight motherlover so slow your roll. Just trying to give people out there the details they want for things like weights, you know for the Canik Fanatiks and whatnot. THe holster is a POS, I take back what I said in the video...it's meant for the trash. Feeding issues because I slammed a magazine....SayWhaaa?? If a gun ever failed to feed because I slammed a mag, it would be also dumped in the trash. I think the problem is the spring with the extended base plate..whats happening is the gun will fire a bunch of rounds and then the round will get jammed right on its tip right on the feed ramp, its strange and I have some photos and video I'll be posting about it at some point, but I do think it has to do with the stock springs with extended base pads...peace
Nailed or Failed Reviews I was trying to remember the videos that show problems using extended magazines without a grip extension. Here is one of them, but there are others out there. ua-cam.com/video/ZXkI6vsuf0I/v-deo.html This explains one problem, but on another video with I believe a Security 9 compact or M&P 9c, you can push the extended magazine up too far without the help of a grip sleeve to stop it and it will slightly bend the mag lips. Then the first half or more of the rounds will feed fine, but when the spring becomes extended and weaker as more rounds are used, the spring will no longer overcome the slight bend in the mag lips and jamb in a double feed.
It's the micro red dots like the Shield and I think a couple others. It will not fit the standard RMR, Vortex, Holosun, Deltapoint Pro. Sad thing is the red dots cost more than the gun...
Caniks are in big box stores all over the US. And century just imports them, so they don’t modify anything like they would with the Wasr series AKs. Most of century’s issues is when they booger up guns themselves but pistols don’t have to be modified at all.
