I could not believe that so many people had the exact same problem with their microwave. Lolol. And it's the exact same model and everything. Many many thanks. The repair costed me a whopping $0.19 with a washer from home depot.
WARNING- the top flashing has 2 screws (on mine) that should be removed BEFORE pulling it off. I just made the mistake of pulling it off thinking it was a snap off/on and broke the tabs. Also, the stainless face scratches VERY easily. Lay down a thick towel before you start. I put down rags and still scratched the flashing and the door a bit. Some Flitz metal polish helped but it starts to remove the brushed finish. You could go back with 1500 grit (or finer) carefully/lightly in the direction of the brushed lines. I appreciate the video, it helped.
Yes, I also learned the hard and broke one of the two tabs. Nothing like leaving out step number 1 in the process. 1) Remove the two screws holding the upper bezel above the door from the top and lift out from the lower edge of the bezel. Set side carefully. Take the time to clean the filter and area behind the bezel.
I Have the LM1760ST and the only difference is there are two screws on top of the blower vent to get the plastic blower vent off. Great Video lots of help. Thank you
Useful and clear. Many thanks. Fixed my door. The clip that depresses the microswitches had broken, but I was able to insert a small self tapping screw into the broken part and reattach the spring. Better than new. And free...thanks to this video.
My handle broke recently too.. it's good to know I'm not the only one. I'll likely never go with LG after this experience - very poor quality! Thank you for sharing this, and sweet pink glasses!
Add a metal washer behind the handle screws to spread out the pressure on the screw head against, the plastics door.. this should help from breaking. 🤞🤫
My handle broke in the exact same spot. I just filed down what was left of the old cheap plastic that broke and replaced it with metal spacers. Works much better so far
Bro, you won't believe how I had. to spend my Xmas morning! Thank you for showing us how to get it done! I didn't replace the door so I had finesse a solution to that problem because just replacing the door would have been so many headaches, I'm sure you follow my meaning! LOL! THANKS AGAIN AND GOD BLESS YOU!
Your video was super useful. I just replaced the door handle on my LG LMV1762ST. Thank you very much. If others have any questions I’d be happy to answer.
Very VERY GREATFUL for your video I followed your instructions to the T from ordering the door from Amazon to using the puddy knife to get the glass out...thanks for sharing💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Thanks for this video. It's still helpful after one year in March 2023 Just one note, I have the identical model number but the top strip over the door did not "pop right out" . Mine is screwed in to the top. I had to get a foot stool and look down on the top of the microwave that protrudes from under the cabinet and remove 2 screws. The top edge then pulled out and the part was lifted off. This may be a difference simply from the year of manufacture, I don't know. And per one of the tips that was posted, I did put a metal washer behind the screws!
Thanks, someone below was asking about the top strip mounting, and I guess it's different on some models. I kinda wish mine were screwed in, since the cheap plastic snaps break easily, and I've had to fix it with duct tape.
LM1760ST here. The lower plastic bits holding the outer glass all broke on mine due to age I guess. JB Quick Welded them back on with help from the vid. Thanks for the video!.
Do you need to replace the whole door frame? If you had access to a 3D printer do you think you could make those plastic tabs and reattach them with adhesive?
@wesmcdowell It will. You have to take out the black screws that are on the top. I did the same thing until I realized that it doesnt just pop out. There are plastic tabs under the cover that helps hold it in place
I agree this is a design flaw. I had the same issue. When reinstalling, I placed washers on the plastic before inserting screw. I think this will make it less likely to break
Thank you. Apparently a common problem with this model because my plastic pieces just broke. I may try using a replacement washer rather than buying a whole new frame
Just got off the phone with LG, I've had three of this same Microwave. Two of them experienced handles breaking and the other one had a failure of the entire control module. I explained to them that although out of warranty LG should stand behind their product if they're going to market something with such a poor design. All I could get a replacement handle and an acknowledgment that they have had many reports/complaints about this issue. FYI the top trim does not just pop off, you have to remove two screws or you will break the tabs they mount in.
I have the same microwave door and what are ridiculous design. But I have a question for you. I am not exactly sure how this is supposed to look when you put back the microwave shield glass. It seems like the tabs are much lower in the front of the door then they are towards the back. However, it was a screw on the bottom, for tabs from the left between the fourth and fifth tab on the left on the bottom that has a piece that the screw goes into, it's about an inch high and it's causing the whole thing not to sit right. Is there any way that I could put a picture in here of that piece? It seems to screw into the base fine without it so where the hell did this piece come from. It seems totally fine without it but that doesn't make any sense. Is there any way to get you a picture of that piece?
Well Damnit you made that look a million times easier than it turned out for me. I managed to shatter the glass window into a million little pieces trying to remove mine. :(
Thank you sooooooooooo much for this. Exact same problem. LG should be sued for this. My microwave is one year old. Is this going to be an annual occurrence? I literally have the same issue, that stupid little plastic piece broke. Is that piece included in this frame/part?
@@ShaneConQueso Yep. Silly to have to buy the whole frame, but it was "only" $20 or so. In the comments someone suggested adding a washer...that sounded like a good idea to me.
Good info, especially T about the fishing needing to come off first. However it would have been nice to actually see you reinstall the door besides saying" just do it in reverse" I can't get my door onto the top hinge hook.
I could not believe that so many people had the exact same problem with their microwave. Lolol. And it's the exact same model and everything. Many many thanks. The repair costed me a whopping $0.19 with a washer from home depot.
I guess LG Appliances aren't engineered very well
My handle broke in the same place. Your video was invaluable! So so so appreciate
Thanks for the video, I ordered a replacement door and found your video while waiting for it to arrive. Excellent walkthrough
Thank you so much, we used a washer too!! With your video we were able to get to the part we needed to fix!!! You guys are awesome !!!

Where the screws are located? Thanks

Great video! Saved me from buying a new microwave and new door! Thank you 😊
Thank you for this! A divider in an old tackle box works instead of ordering a new piece of plastic..
Great video just what the doctor ordered. thanks
I put a washer and some epoxy for a quick fix till new part arrives.
Add a metal washer behind the handle screws to spread out the pressure on the screw head against, the plastics door.. this should help from breaking. 🤞🤫
Great tip…I bet that would definitely help. Tx!
Same problem! I was so mad. I added a washer and just put some jb weld behind it. Great video man, thanks for the info!
Great video. I had the same problem. Added a fender washer to the inside as suggested. 19 cents at Home Depot.

Fabulous help! Thank you. We have ordered the part on Amazon and waiting. Crappy design indeed!

Very helpful video. Our handle just failed! What is the part number for the replacement inner frame? Thanks
thank you so much for this video. you saved me some money and learned to do it myself. again great video.
This video was very helpful. How do I get the door back on ?
Add me to list of people who found this helpful! Took mine apart added, cleared out the plastic bits, added fender washers, reassembled. Perfect fix!

any tips on how to remove the grill flashing above the door? Mine does not want to come off

Can’t find this part. Not on Amazon or anywhere. Help

Exactly what I needed! Thanks!
Followed, but now getting door error. Spin table spins and light is lit but display says DOOR with no motor engagement. Thoughts?
Sounds like the door didn’t go back on correctly. I’d take it off and put it back on, make sure it seats well.

Oooh, dude that sucks. Hopefully you can get a spare on Amazon...
So if my handle is popping off what part do I need to order? The bottom of the handle is broken.
"LG AGM73812501 Parts Assembly" is what I ordered; like ~$20 at AMZN. Piece of crap microwave when the handle breaks like this after a year...
You're awesome. Thanks brother!!
where did you buy the replacement handle from ?
Check comments below...I had an Amazon link. Cost maybe $20 or so.
Thanks for this video couldn't of done it with out it..
what part # do you use from amazon? thanks

Sorry about that. I recall you want the door in a fully open position, and it just drops in.
garbage design, garbage product. Thanks for your video
