As a retired radiographer who spent a career perfecting positioning and minimising dose through collimation, the first set shown had an inadequate radiograph for the lateral. The radiographer probably tried to get the spine parallel to the table top which would ensure a failed projection due to not producing the vertebrae and disc spaces in profile. Admittedly, the patient doesn't have a straight back, but that can be dealt with. Here is my video on how to perfect the series for lumbar spine. ua-cam.com/video/4W1g0UVOGq0/v-deo.html

What does Dr. Su think of the MILD procedure as a pre-surgical treatment for LSS?

I do not think it gives as adequate of a decompression as a formal decompression

The first X-ray, the spine looks leaning to the left, is that normal?

I’ve already had an MRI. Would getting the flexion-extension X-ray be helpful at this point? I have never had that done.

Some patients have what we call listing of the spine to one side secondary to pain. It can also be scoliosis. As a disclaimer you should always contact your spine surgeon.

I have X-rays and MRIs (more than one) and need lumbar fusion surgery. Is there any good reason for getting CT also?

It depends on what the surgery is for. You can make a virtual appointment with me by calling California orthopedics and spine
