very good video , it remind's me of all the good day's i had year's ago pigeon shooting, in somerset . i now live in australia and duck and quail season is just in a few day's time,i nor'mally decoy the duck's, the quail have to be walked up very fast difficult shooting but also enjoyable. many thank's and good shooting. from dave.
The crows decoys are set up, in this field to the right of the hide. They where about 30 yards out. The pigeon decoys to the left. This allows the pigeons to fly around the crow decoys and land in the pattern. It not a question of where the decoys are, its where the bird fly. @guineapig479 AYA Yeoman. Bought one years ago and sold it, needed the money at the time. Got this one from auction for £50, cleaned up the stock and blacked the barrels, 26" barrel taken chokes out to imp and 1/4 and its just the thing for decoying. You do not want long barrel in a hide.
I hope to help you out in later videos. I use a AYA Yeoman had it for 30 years. I use to shoot around 3000 pigeons a year but have not got the time today. Chokes improved and 1/4. i'll cover patterns in another video.
I some times take an air rifle with me, if I get a winged bird I can use the air rifle from the hide so I do not need to go out. There may be birds trying to get onto the field?
The video was taken in Wales. live and shooting in and around Clevedon, North Somerset. 200 pigeons on field on Friday, when out Saturday and shot the great total of 5.
@headphones222 imp and 1/4 in the old days thats the seventy for me, the 19-70's. We would buy a cheep gun Belgium with 27-28 inch barrels and cut they off to 24 1/2 inches, almost no choke at all, they make a great pigeon hide gun.
@henerz564 I like to let them have the first feed, I hope that you will come back to where they know there is food. Let the first one land. "But don't tell anyone". PS do not shoot them to fare out.
Really good shooting, but unfortunately we missed a lot of hits because the camera would stand still. You should think about a cameraman in the tent. Magnificent video nontheless!
Of the birds shot that you did manage to catch on camera I can see why they call you Ian The Gun. I particularly liked what I thoguht was two birds with one shot. lol

@weaponmakable the range is the same for .410 to 10 bore if the shot is the same size and going the same speed.

@Tux3d0 I'm using a 12 bore but you can using anything for .410 to 10 bore if you wish.
All the birds are sold to the game dealer, helps pay for the cartridges.

Going to try it out at the weekend on some birds and rabbits hopefully.
NO, all birds shot are sold to a game dealer. Helps to pay for the cartridges. I can get anything from 30p-60p per pigeon.

i'm using a side by side AYA Yeoman 12 bore shotgun with improved & 1/4 chokes.
7 and 7 1/2 shot cartridges. used for both pigeon and crow.

I've only got a cheat JVC video camcorder, the only thing I can think of that might help is work off of tribod.
@111MadMan111 26" you do not need a long barreled gun in a hide.
@soadilias LEAD. 7's 1oz(28gms) plus a mix of alsorts what is every in the bag.

@ethan012340 about one a year. i use to shot around 2000 to 3000 birds a year. I'm only shooting around 1000 last years.
What Gauge do you use for pigeon and crow shooting 4/10? 20 G? or 16G?

I think the video recorder cuts the sound down, I use a 26" AYA Yeoman with SMI 6's.
