- Alan ( Gamekeeper ) and my son Simon go out onto fresh Barley stubble to shoot a few crows. ( Keeps the Farmer Happy ) N.West UK..Carrion Crows show no mercy on the new born Lambs taking out the eyes and tounge.We try to keep the numbers down on our shoot
Blade, we just stick them out at about 30 yards, facing into the wind. We always make a pattern with a space so any birds coming in the the decoys have room to land.
Keep up the good work on the carrions!
great shooting, i made myself a pigeon magnet but never thought to use it for crows!!
@ratreaper07 we do use a rifle sometimes for shooting the Carions. But leave that mainly for the longer shots when they are sat amongst the sheep. and of course its fitted with a silencer. Cheers for your remarks
@stickcreator528 That sounds easy enough. Come to think of it, I have some old crow Halloween props in storage. They're smaller but they'll do the trick. Might be a good idea to grab a few on clearance after next Halloween is over! Thanks for the tips!
Great clip lads really nice shooting. How many yards was the hide away from the decoys and what nunber shels were you using?
Thanks and keep them coming.
Never thought of using a whirly to draw crows and rooks, but the pattern obviously worked well, despite the superb eyesight of the corvids. Do you ever take them with a rifle while feeding? Another way and helps get to those that just aren't confident enough to decoy. Plus 200yd corvid culling always raises a lilltle smile in me.
Another call from a Farmer. He has lost 6 Lambs to Carrion Crows so far this Spring. A team of guns went out at dusk to get the birds coming into roost in nearby woods. 12 Carrions were shot. another good job done by Alan and the team.
@315Rosi Look on ebay for a pigeon magnet, thats what we were using but with carrion crows on it. We dont have the need to call much as they come right in anyway.. Cheers for your coments..Mike
ty tommy. we were about 25/30yds off the decoys using no 6 x 28grms
@DUXBEWARE its called a Pigeon Magnet. You can use for Crows also. Look on ebay there always on it somewhere.
U can get these rotaries from loads of places now..look on ebay for pigeon magnet..good shooting
To be honest its difficult to tell but lets hope most if not all are Carrion Crows!
these birds kill and eat new born Lambs or maybe remove the eye from the mother while she's in labour.So... YES, there VERMIN and need to be controlled.We never hesitate to assist the Farmers while their Lambing is happening. Simple Fact..Lamb would go up so much in price, but behind the scene is people like us..helping control these killers. and ty for your comments.
@dbakerhunter84 it was bought. You can make your own though. Its called a pigeon magnet.
@tewka2003..thanks for the info, keep up the good work. Without chaps such as yourselves there would be little in the country side for the "others" to see and drool over, such as song birds and "bunnywunnies". Long may you, your son and other sensible people continue to do their bit.
Nice vid, that's some good crow huntin.
@skittification I have just been out after a local farmer called me, has now lost 5 Lambs to Carrion Crows.We got the culprits.JOB DONE.
Good luck..hope you get good bags..
Been out amongst the Carrions today..Couldnt get a decent vid, but shot over 60..Very Pleased.. Regards Mike
@skittification Excellent words..Cheers.
What brand is that motorized rotary decoy? It looks like it's just what I need for my decoy setup haha
Give em' hell and keep up the good work fellas!
did you guys buy the spinning crow decoy or make it??? I would like to make one!!
were can I get one of those motion decoys? Also I didnt hear any calling, did you call at all on this particular hunt?
@turfguy87 not far.depends on the speed of your swing...a slower swing..a longer lead.
@JODIMAR45
Hi Jodi.... I am prepared to be corrected... but aint these Rooks??????
About how many decoys do you have? And how do you know what location to pick for the crow hunt?
Eat them..ewwww no thanks.lol.lol We do a service for the farmers.Lambing season is just about to start here and the Carrions will be about waiting to take the eyes out of the new born Lambs etc so we keep numbers down as much as possible.
NICE SHOOTING!
how far ahead do you lead them before you shoot?
Hi there. I am losing ewes that get on their backs and the the Carion crows peck their intestines out before I have a chance to get the ewe back on her feet as I cant be in the fields 24/7. Is this definitely carrion crows and not rooks. Also where did u get the decoys.... desperately needing to reduce their numbers drastically asap. Many thanks from rainy Scotland
Looks like an expensive spread of crow decoys. Must be a rich man's sport. I have a 10 dollar mouth crow call and only two decoys. I don't want to get into hundreds of dollars to put meat on the table, which is my main purpose in hunting. I know it's good wingshooting practice and they are vermin that need thinning out, but I don't wanna break the bank. Anybody have any tips for crow hunting on a shoestring? You guys are super accurate, btw!!!
Where have you been for the last year,sucking windows and got stuck?
great vid.. good shooting! Wish it was legal to shoot crows in Australia!
@JODIMAR45 Most were Carrions with a few others.
what guns are u using
what are you using?
we bought ours a few years ago.
what carts were you using ??
@NiiTROGAMIN we use 32grams number 6's through over and unders.
Nice shooting
I bet it's difficult to shoot a flying crow!
Good job keep there numbers down.
@EternalSearcher yes yes it is
Are you not shoo(BANG BANG)ting?
@IITZzCOOK13 we were using number 6 and 28 grams.
So what do u guys do with them? Eat them? Or do u just hate crows lol!!??
@JODIMAR45 ..Cheers we will do our best.lol.lol
@poliser0 Number 6 shells..28 grams.
@Nirvana1923 Then why watch.?
@tewka2003 your welcome. Who ARE these "plastic people" and what do they expect to see when they watch a video entitled "crow shooting"? They ought to stick to clutching crystals and smoking ganja, and leave "Real people" alone.
Good to see your son carrying on country sport traditions.
All the best
skeetlars
I love crow hunting.
i hate crows...wish i was there with ya!
word
three if you please..
sono stati fatti dei tiri eccezzionali
hunting has happened ever since animals have inhabited this earth
number 6, 28 grams.
@skittification brother, i'm not a vegetarian, I eat meat but very limited, I'm just saying i do not approve of hunting as fun, you should not do
and why shoot them? are living beings. I'll tell you one thing: a warm summer evening I saw a dog walking in my yard, I brought water and food, the day after he came near me and licked my hand as if to tell me "thank you". I'm sorry when they kill the animals. are some animals are annoying and provoke fear, but killing is not a human action
@ruckaruckaaliable 12 guage, over and unders.
ok really y do ppl watch videos that clearly are about hunting, just to flame the publisher about lack of morals and stuff. if some1 is against it and is watching the video doesnt that mean they have no morals or somethin? i love to hunt and while i dont kill stuff i wont eat i really dont give a damn about killing some old crows.
I DRINK TO THAT
@spacecowboy95 just shows how little you do know about Carrion Crows.Suggest that you do some research before gobbing off on here.
@nirvana..Have you actually seen the aftermath of pigeons feeding unchecked in farmers fields? Or blind lambs after crows have plucked their eyes out? Or foxes tearing partly born lambs from their mothers bodies? I have. Do not presume the right to tell me what to do. How you amuse yourself is of no consequence to me until you interfere with my life. I am not your brother nor do I desire to be. Go back to your world of "peace and love" and let the real world get on with it.
@stickcreator528 "woman" ;) Hunting is a man's sport, no doubt about it. It's tough to get the help and advice you need to get started...especially when you have no men in your family who are knowledgeable about it. I guess I can only turn to youtube!!!! But beggars can't be choosers can they? LOL!
Find a job on a farm for a while and see how crows and pigeons will massacre a field of barley if you leave them to it. I have seen it, why don't you? Otherwise please do not comment on things without finding out first.
@Steph8368 You didnt have to watch it. shows you know nothing about Carrion Crows.Now get back in your pram and stop throwing your toys out.
unpleasant
@spacecowboy95
Please stop using bad language and show some manners.
Yes, I am sure it was unpleasant for you. Maybe you should move on to hugging trees and talking to plants. More your "scene".
Dont think ud like it on your nose you would go blind.lol.lol..Grow up..learn about what happens out there in the countryside..see it for yourself.. Then judge me.. untill then dont watch these clips..your choice..
