- "No Country for Old Men" is a 2007 American crime thriller film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, based on Cormac McCarthy's 2005 novel of the same name.
Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin, the film is set in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas. The film revisits the themes of fate, conscience and circumstance that the Coen brothers had explored in the films Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987), and Fargo (1996). The film follows three main characters: Llewelyn Moss (Brolin), a Vietnam War veteran and welder who stumbles upon a large sum of money in the desert; Anton Chigurh (Bardem), a hitman who is sent to recover the money; and Ed Tom Bell (Jones), a sheriff investigating the crime. The film also stars Kelly Macdonald as Moss's wife Carla Jean and Woody Harrelson as a bounty hunter seeking Moss and the return of the $2 million.

Lol his look at the end. That was the most emotion of him in the whole movie

Love him❤❤❤❤❤
THATS! ,TRUE
Exactly!
🤨
That man knew he just had a conversation with death.....
The grim reaper was paying a visit and he just didn’t know about it…
@@JorgeRojas21d And the flip side to that coin, is at the end the grim reaper got a visit from God for killing the Godly wife.
he looks like genocidal netanyahu
@@LABallin247can you explain
@@Luis-tz8ktliterally just that. It’s the end of the movie.
You can see it in his eyes he finally understood the situation an there was no way out..
Puts the quarter in a bubblegum machine 😐
@@PSYCHZIEAnton Chigurh: 😑
Anton was so relieved he didn’t have to kill that old dude.
Not!😂
He didn't have to kill him of it turned up tails either. As is said later in the movie, its just a coin, and Chigur is the one doing the killing.
He almost looked happy that the old man chose correctly.
“Or it’ll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin…👹”
“Which it is. 🤗”
This scene is why i don't make smalltalk with people 😅
What business is that of yours? Call it.
Paranoid weenie.
@@ChatGPT1111I need to know what I stand to win
Well, you stand to win or lose everything. But actually just your life. If you win you get to keep your life & everything you have atm. If you lose then you lose your life, plus whatever you have up to this moment.
Not everyone is this guy bro 😂
After such the most intense moment of his life, that shop keeper should put that coin in a separate display on the wall. If Anton just randomly returned, he'd appreciate and totally respect the man.
Or maybe get Anton to autograph it.😂
. . . Unless the shopkeeper placed the coin display "tails" -side out accidentally in which case Mr. Chigurh may have subjected the shopkeeper to another coin toss . . . . .
Maaaaan you cut the bit where he said “mixed with all the other coins and become just another coin…… which it is.” That completes this scene so well
Did you just watch the first 8 seconds then stop it? It's in there lol.
@@durtyred86 Nope. it's missing the "which it is" bit right at the end, but it completes the scene.

The whole film is about inevitability, chance, fate, time, and age and how they intersect with each other. This scene is the perfect illustration of that intersection.
No this movie is just another opportunity for clowns that think they are so advanced and artistically inclined that only they can fully appreciate this terrible and ridiculous movie, with a scuba tank murdering, Latino Willy wonka bad guy.

Legend!!! The last look of Anton 😂
I'm willing to bet that shopkeeper never initiated small talk with anyone ever again.
left the funniest part out ! When he says "but i didn't put anything up" Yes you did you've been putting it up your whole life you Just didn't know it ! 😂
Imagine being told that by Anton.
My hair stands up thinking about it
Classic!!!
@@scotttracy9333 . . . Because it's TRUE! . . . for all of us. That's why it is IMPERATIVE that you make your OWN situation in this life as best you can! We need not be fearful or become paranoid, ONLY prepared! ALWAYS remember - - fate is but a coin toss away . . . . . 😮
@@barbaracabello587 Fate & death are two separate beings. I don't believe in Fate. However, death is inevitable. The only question about death is how long you get to avoid it.
My GrandMa on my Dad's side of the family, her name was Tolly. She went to the same church all her life. Was a big believer in Jesus & God & had a very strong faith. She was even the treasurer for her church for about 40 years. Lived in Alabama in a very small town. I always imagined that she would pass away quietly at home. How wrong was I? She was on her way to cash her SS Check & happened to pull out in front of a logging truck. She was killed on impact. The driver of the truck said that when she pulled out in front of him he barely had time to hit the brakes and hit her at about 60mph. Luckily it was quick for her. BUT WHEN I HEARD ABOUT IT, IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME TO WRAP MY HEAD AROUND HER DYING LIKE THAT. While I will admit that she was getting older & closer to death with each passing day. It still surprised me cuz I never in my wildest craziest dreams thought she would go out like that. And it made me question my faith. I'm not proud of that fact but that was the only time I ever considered that God wasn't real.
This scene really makes you think twice about engaging in all talk with strangers
This shopkeeper did an equally amazing job

@@beatrizbeserra7680 I like it but it's not a masterpiece.
So many unrealistic things ( of course it's a movie, I understand.. but they were too many). Some examples:
- Empty police station (they were complaining that crime rate was rising...). The officer doesn't put Anton in a cell and then he turns his back on him. Btw no manhunt after a police officer is killed.
- Anton walks around with a shotgun in daylight through hotels and offices, with literally no people around.
You can't force reality to fit your wishes like that, even if it was the book dictating it (didn't read the book)
Sorry for my English, it's not my primary language
That coin saved his life. . .damn right keep it separate!
When death came knocking & passed on while leaving a souvenir to remember the occasion.
The acting in this movie is pure brilliance
The most menacing bad guy ever...
He's not the bad guy. The bad guy stole his money. He's just pissed off and very calm. Think about it. If someone stole 2 million dollars from you, how would you be towards everything and everyone?
@blacktiger5985 a psychopath is more than a bad guy..... money stolen or not.....
More cinema bad guys than him.......
Michael beach in the movie one false move......

Such a powerful scene, perfect reaction from the clerk.
He ain't no clerk, he's the proprietor, he married into it. It's his wife's father place, they used to live in Temple, Texas before, raised a family there, in Temple.

Can't help but laugh at his last look.
I have to rewatch this film. It is cinema genius.
i've since rewatched. the pacing, acting, dialogue, gorgeous visuals, etc remain stellar.

What u stand to win is nowhere near as important as what you stand to loose.
Literally what I was going to ask.
lose, not loose.
Well, that's the clever paradox here isn't it?
I sure do miss 1980.
The reaper in person
That has got to be one of my favorite parts of that movie 👍.
When I first watched this I told myself dam I would have lost because in a coin toss I will always choose tails
Statistically, because there's/slightly/ more weight on the heads side, it's slightly more common to land on heads than tails. Wasn't going to show my cards, but saw you needed to hear this lol. Choose heads from now on. And if you lose anything like that, stick to what lost. Keep choosing heads, etc. statistics my friend, statistics (:
@@traditionalnative thanks for the tip but I’ll stick to my own ways

a couple of seconds shy of perfection.
True legend ❤
Damn bro I remember this scene..really powerful and how people's perspective on life is so different..How some just live and others live by chance, luck or direction and it all converge at that moment with a coin..Intense conversation woth so much on the line and I don't think the man realized how much danger he was in until after the conversationstarted...Perfect writing and imagination..
A virtually unknown actor who was able to "out-crazy", Woody Harelson!🧑🏻💼😈☠️ FLIPPN' epic! This guy was absolutely terrifying!
"Well done" followed by advice intended to be helpful. And just when you thought you knew Anton....:)
So intense Javier nail it in that movie hope the make the remake
Chilling!
Poor old guy didn’t realize that coin was his life. And the psycho with his twisted sense of right and wrong honored the coin as a guiding mechanism for his actions. Crazy awesome script!
His voice is scarily relaxing
which it is
Gotta say Javier was awesome in this film, he was deserving best actor that year, anyone else was runner up.

When you lose twice after trying once.

One of the most intense scenes in the movie
one of the scariest characters in cinema every
Which it is”
You left the main dialogue
. . .out . .
Most I ever lost in a coin toss was the coin.
He is the scariest character ever.
Every action has a fundamental alternative life or death. Is this good for my life and align with my values, or does this hurt me and conflict with my values. Your life is a culmination of your choices. The coin represents the man's life. On the coin are his two fundamental choices - life and death. When the man gets lucky and chooses correctly, Anton tells him to appreciate the coin and keep it separate from all the others. He's essentially saying, "You're life is indeed just another life, and there are many lives out there, but this is YOUR life. So cherish it and don't just give your life away to some duty premise that devalues the self.
Anton is agitated and possibly even offended by the man's purposeless chatter at the beginning, as if the purposelessness coming out of the man's mouth is actually contagious. But when Anton finds out that he married into his current life situation, that's what spurs Anton to try and teach the man an important lesson about how important personal values and choices really are.
It's ultimately the choices of the characters in this movie that lead them to come face to face with Anton, and meeting him is simply cause and effect in Anton's eyes or a culmination of choices that lead to this very moment. I think he's meant to represent reality and pose to the people he meets this fundamental alternative of life and death. When you don't embrace principles that are tied to reality and you don't make your values explicit to yourself, then you're leaving your life to chance because you're actions will be determined by implicit value judgments controlled by your subconscious. It's a life of chaos.
I am not lying thos scene sent chills down my back!!
Scary scene. Executed perfectly by these two great actors. No pun because no execution. That Qurter Dollar stood for his seemingly simple country like at that moment. That hits home with me harder than the high intensity of this scene. Superior job in this scene. 😢😅
The most terrifying killer with the most ridiculous haircut.
Javier Bardem, gran actor Español, esposo de una actriz Española, Penélope Cruz.
This is the scariest scene I have ever seon. Any movie I put myself in that guy's position, If you've seen a picture of me I look like this guy. But my personality is not like his my friends at work told me this.
La ciudad no es para los viejos .Excelente película ,sobre un Psicópata.

The shopkeeper watched this movie years later with his woman while trying to Netflix And Chill. When this scene came up he went catatonic and hasn't snapped out of that state since.
The best city for young women
For most people who don't know the man who portrays this character did a phenomenal job of depicting a real life sociopath the man has no emotional quarrels whatsoever between life and death it's just all a coin toss to him
