- After Hot Wheels releases Thrill Climbers in Car Culture, I didn’t think it could be topped. The very next mix might have done just that. Modern Classics 2 is insanely cool, and there are a lot of models to pair with this set of 5. Let’s get into all of it, including my major Mercedes hoard. Enjoy!

They still categorized as toys, man. They are designed to take some tumble.
Try to drop models like Tarmac Works, Mini GT, TLV, etc and you'll understand what real damage is
The premiums are more durable. It’s the mainlines which I am petrified of dropping. Whilst they are cheaper they are also much easier to break

This set is pretty fantastic! n btw, Never once in my life have i ever seen hotwheels "on sale" or discounted. You always seem to be INSANELY lucky with good finds, i hit about half a dozen stores 4-5days a week consistantly and i have real trouble just FINDING the premium cars let alone multiples on the pegs... and discounted at that. Of course i can get them 2nd hand for +5x the price 🙄🤬 LOL

I like a lot the modern classics. My set of 5 is already on its way. At first I didn't like the Hello Kitty tampos, but now I find it quite nice and different to what we are used to see :)

Decent mix. The Mercedes looks amazing (although a bit too slammed for my taste). The Jetta is very cool too. The Siliva is decent but I'd prefer seeing some alloys rather than black rims. The Honda could use a different livery. The subaru is nice but let down by the terrible rims. Those flower rims are one of the worst real riders. I think the mainline looks better.
Oh I love that classic Mercedes. I was also excited when the 190 came out.
Still waiting on this set to drop locally (no pun intended). I do have the Hello Kitty EG and 22B STI already though. Absolutely stellar set and my daughter loves the Hello Kitty, will have to do a showcase vid as well. Great work as always, Mr Lamley.
I feel like I’m the only one that’s not a fan of the Hello Kitty Civic. Other than that it’s a perfect set

I feel the same. Kinda wished the Civic had a normal paint job and the Jetta had a stock GLX look. But that's just me. Not a fan of visual tuning and love a clean realistic OEM look.

Your comment on using the F&F castings later is gold. We got the 2016 STi from that as well, happy camper here. The Jetta is hot like you said and the Honda is too. All fire. I really cannot wait to get some 22B's from this series though, then the Honda and Jetta.
Definitely prefer Thrill Climbers but still a great mix.

The 22B is my favorite. They finally got it right with the tail lights, added the STi stickers on the fog lights, and added the side badge and decals. They should have went with the gold six spokes instead of the current ones but no biggie.

The rear curtains and color of the Merc make it my favourite!
I would love for Hot Wheels to do a 70s or 80s Cadillac Fleetwood or Deville to go with the Mercedes

The Civic EG is a pretty creative idea; my favorites out of this set would have the be the Subaru and the Mercedes!
Both the Mercedes are amazing!! Wish I was collecting what the 190e came out with Period Correct.

The 22B was also released in Dark metallic red in Basic, looks great with full tampos as well, different wheels though, they are a 5 spoke gold on the red basic version

It is a fantastic set sir, I am going to buy a case because they are going to be hard to find. I say it was the Mercedes that hit the floor. Not so sure about the laced Wheels on the 22b, but i do like it.

Most of these sets will not be on the pegs in NYC , Target, or in Macy’s . No more Toys r Us .

That Merc is AMAZING!! I hope I'm lucky enough to find this whole set! I was looking forward to the 22b Subaru, but those 'Grandma's Doily' rims. ugh... so awful! I'll prob still get it tho.

for me the THRILL CLIMBERS series is the best so far and for casting it is the mercedes 280 sel
I agree that it's a great set. I just got mine in, and can't get over the quality of the Benz. I think the only thing that could have made it better would have been a truck. Maybe the Hardbody or a C-10...

This set was crying out for that 96 Carrera to be premium but they make a worst civic than the clean yellow one smh.

love this set. Merc is star, obv. awesome customs casting with the EG. the S14 is the lagger. Subaru card art is odd - wrong hand drive vs. model, no roll bar

This set arrived in my mailbox today, and it’s sweet. (Although, I still don’t get why they did the Hello Kitty deco, or any deco, on the Civic when the rest of the set is so clean.) The Thrill Climbers are still my favorite Car Culture set of 2020, though.

Where did you get the parking lot mat?
The Datsun 510 sedan from Hotwheel is one of my favorites. The only thing I have a issue with is that the 510 sedan because of the round marker light on the Quarter panel. The 1971 510 did not have a round marker light. Ther marker light's on the car are rectangles. I would like to see the year of the car correction or a proper marker light on the hotwheels 510.

You asked about other colors on the 22b, it was also done in a burgundy red with gold wheels
In my oppinion, it's probably better if the Civic coloured in plain black and having the 22B with Classic 555-like deco. But i'm suspecting they didn't do that so the black Civic (probably) been kept for future FnF Set & 555-style deco 22B for future rally set

One of my next door neighbors literally has the Subaru Impreza WRX STI in real life, though, sadly, not as in good of a shape as the Hot Wheels car. I honestly should talk to him and see if I can be a good neighbor and help him fix his car up right. Between a 100 acre scrap/junk yard, and some businesses that specialize in JDM and aftermarket parts, maybe some more junk/scrap yards, and the online website of Subaru, as well as its local retailers, I am bound to find some parts to have his ride upgraded to custom showroom perfection.

I don't think the 2020 Modern Classics is *the* best set for 2020. For me, Thrill Climbers is still the best set for 2020. But, it's still a great set and the '72 Mercedes 280 SEL is easliy a candidate for best Premium model for 2020 imo. Thanks for the presentation!
