That was a great video, as long as the youtuber stays on topic the time length does not matter to me. You always get to the meat and I like that. I get really bored when the meat is 5 minutes and the video is 30 minutes of fluff. You do great and this video was awesome . Seems all we ever see is the successes. It can be a bit depressing when we compare our reality to that. Thank you for doing such an informative honest video
Your videos are probably the most educational on youtube! Thank you for talking it straight without painful intros, in video ads. Ebay seller discussion straight from the hip!
I refer to you as my EBay mentor so I’m always happy when I get notified you have a new video. For me, your length of video is what fits into your schedule. Always happy to watch. Short or long your videos are always top notch
I appreciate hearing what’s probably not a good item to source. I mostly see videos showing items that are big sellers. However, I have found that to be untrue. What sells for one doesn’t always sell for another.
OMG, you do not come across as fake at all! I only recently found your channel, but I can say I've gained more knowledge from your videos than any of the 100,00K plus YTers out there. I am going to "JOIN" and support your channel today because you have inspired this old man to get back into the eBay game! Keep the vids coming and THANK YOU!!!!!
So appreciate your sharing of things that don’t sell. That information is just as valuable as what does sell. Especially knowing I’m not alone in the “I thought it would sell” department.
I just passed on one of the steam irons at the thrift store yesterday and the Stanley a few weeks ago. I looked up comps on both and even when I saw the Stanley's werent selling well it was hard to walk away. Glad I did. Lots of good information. Thanks for what you do.
I vote for more of these videos, too. Boy... DO I have some stinkers sitting on our shelves, too. It's a part of the process, we'll always have laggards, but over time we learn and our laggards' lifespan in our inventory should decrease as we learn and share. Thanks for the info! --Marty
Loved this video. Liked the longer length. I had suggested to another well know UA-camr to do the same before I started watching you because we need to see the other side not just always the highest best sales. And on that channel my idea got shut down by one of the channels aggressive moderators and the UA-camr herself did not even speak on it or intervene. So thanks for listening to feedback in your comments and also if you do start having moderators be careful who you select as some of these mods take their 'jobs' too seriously.
We have one of those green Stanley thermos that you are showing there. I love it! It's so funny when we pull it out during football games or my kids games. It's like people forget those things exist! We put hot chocolate in it.
Oh they do if you look behind them...Most of them are hoarders. That's why jake is so great...he's all about STR. The $$$ is in the churns. That is the secret of all retail stores.
I feel like 12-16 minutes is a proper video length. Good video. I'd like to hear more of what you avoid. I've been focusing on good sell through rate items only. Just so it moves
This was my first video from you. I just went to full time selling 30 days ago as I was making more doing this on the side than working a 9-5 I’m nervous but so far the deals are coming and cash is still flowing I’ll keep the stuff you mentioned in mind especially camera lenses.
I would say at this point, unless you are OK making 2-3x mark-ups...everything in a typical Thrift Store is an avoid. These places have caught on. In my area they mark any decent named brand clothing item from 11.49 to as high as 79. Most shirts start at $11.49. Most would barely bring $20. Even at half off you are maybe going to 2x your money. Doable but a huge investment sitting. I think their goal is to simply replace resellers. Once they catch onto the rest of their store its over folks...
Thanks for the candidness. It sucks when I sell nothing like right now, and makes me wonder why I bother, then I’ll have a lot of great sales. It’s tough sometimes and def the nature of the beast.

I've had pretty good luck with electronics, as well, although some things can be hard to sell, depending on what they are (heavy items with expensive shipping, for example). Ive also had good luck selling random, hard to find, and discontinued items.
I’d never heard of you before I found this video in my feed. Great information and format here. Subbed to see what else you put out. I make my living off of eBay as well, and live to soak up new information and perspectives from those with a realistic/positive outlook.
All we can go is learn fron our mistakes. Myself I bought a few bundles of third party controllers and OEM Nintendo wheels. The wheels would sell most times it's with a copy of Mario Kart Wii which isn't cheap. The other controllers that sold quick were all Xbox One but non were tested vs the PS3 controllers have just sat and those are all fully tested and work great. That is the worst part when you buy an item that isn't price or seasonal sensitive so you truly don't know what to do to fix it.
When it comes to older golf clubs look for 7 woods, 1 driving irons, wedges, and putters. Any wedge over 60* loft is good to. These usually have some value. Golf clubs my favorite category. Just wanted to say I watched your video on sunglasses. Recently found 2 pair of Oakley’s. Both sold the same day! I never even looked at sunglasses until I watched your video.

I give an item about 1.5 years to sell with multiple "sell similar" refreshes. If it doesnt sell by that time, i do a batch of writeoffs and clear it out. It helps mentally to get rid of these mistakes, and frees up space too.
Great Video! I'm can watch up to 10min but some resellers are posting 30min video's and I just don't have the time to sit through all the content which is a shame. I have few that offer enough BOLO that are outside my knowledge that I will sit through. I actually just took a truck load of slow movers back to goodwill because I just got tired of looking at them and needed to declutter. I also had someone give me about 3k paperback romance novels and while they would be pure-profit I'm just overwhelmed at the thought of trying to list them all.
Thank you for another great video. I really appreciate your honesty, and can relate to the Jumanji game and assuming that everything in a certain brand will sell. Not all Levis jeans and SuperDry products have a great sellthrough rate.
Another item the Thrifts are onto. Ridiculous prices. I wear the cheapest jeans you could buy...Wranglers "rustlers" brand...new at Walmart these are like $2 more than what the Thrifts list them at.
@@markevans7937 I do a lot of activewear for men. Jeans are def over priced at thrifts near me. I have a couple places that do $1 and $2 days so if I found something I’ll get it then. So if they do sit it isn’t that big of a deal.
Really enjoy your insights and candor. Just started reselling this year and I've got a "dumb pile" that reminds me every day to pick smarter. However I need new stuff to list, so do the best I can. Today was a grind. Got some so so stuff and just cross my fingers. Recently promoted my entire store and sales have picked up. Thanks again!
@JrideFlips ashamed to admit that I went the whole 12.5%. Had an entire week with zero sales and panicked. It only runs 30 days, but sales and offers sent all day long.
I also have all but about 5 items at 2.6% and have had no sells for a week now and just intermittent offers. I have a variety of items in my store, but probably 60% are clothes. I’m trying to back away from clothes and be more selective, but my clothes finds are $1 each at the consignment store I frequent.
Thanks for another great video. I meant to ask on your previous video about sourcing through ebay. Do you also source through what not as well it seems like there would be good opportunities there as well
Hey I noticed your Ebay's about me has a typo near the beginning "Out top categories...". I know it's inconsequential but I noticed it and couldn't not let you know.
Yeah just watching this video, a lot of the issues you have would be resolved my comping them. Dymo label printers are usually worthless, except obviously the shipping label ones and the special ones like the Rhino product line of dymos and the ones that connect to your PC are worth the most. Outside of those I mentioned, dymo label makers are crap, pretty much any label makers are worthless. But you now know that, but your issue is pretty easy to resolve. No more blind buying :)
I watch videos that are short, to the point, and informative. I get bored after a minute by UA-camrs whose videos are shopping for items to sell. Those videos were the most misleading when I first started reselling two years ago.
I like the longer videos...have you done any research on the best time to release your scheduled listings? just assume it's eastern time in the morning for them to get up and see them or does anybody know numbers? I looked on UA-cam College didn't see too much regarding that topic.... we do know eBay's busiest from 4 to 9 in the evening but is that when we should release the listings?
I don’t think it has a positive or negative affect either way. I would say to post at the same time everyday however for increased consistency in your business or side hustle
A little confused on the steam iron. You said you sold one the same day for 70 bucks, but then you started buying the same ones and found out they were walmart brands not worth much? So the first one you sold was only worth 30 bucks and you sold it for 70? Or you saying you sold a different model of that brand that was worth more than the others you bought? Also, wouldnt looking up the comps before buying them up resolve this issue before having backup inventory of cheap steamers?
Hi Great video thanks for the info…… How do you build an EBay store??? How much did it cost you before you started making money “profit” on EBay???? Thanks for your help All the best
I made profit my first week. Sell things that cost a dollar or things around the house and you’ll be immediately profitable. I work 14 hours a day for 18 months to build my store to 2500 items now I just work 3 hours a day on eBay
I go through my listings once a month.. the items not selling get a price drop. 2 things happen, the item moves to the top and 2 they generally sell. You’re still making money just not what you wanted..
I got an email from Stanley to take out my listing on Ebay unless I'm licensed with them and it's not a VERO. I ignored them and it sold but I'll probably won't list them again because I don't want to get sued.
Occasionally I enjoy long form content but in general maybe I have ADD but I find it hard to watch content past about 10 minutes unless it's extremely riveting or engaging.
@@JrideFlips I'd say about a 7.5 , interesting topic not too dense it was really palatable a little fluff in-between subjects pacing felt good. That being said that is the opinion of one person, I just caution about morphing your content too much based on individual feedback. I think in general I prefer 5-10 minute video for casual viewing and maybe 15-20 on in-depth topics.
I am trying to find a payment system to use to get paid people say Zelle I hate Facebook marketplace people get shot at and jacked that was today in florida
I personally appreciate short videos. I’ll come across someone’s video that I would like to watch (any topic, not just reselling) but if it’s 20 minutes or more, I pass. I have too much to do do waste 30, 45, or 60 minutes on a video.
We only want the Rowenta irons made in Germany. The ones from other countries are crap. Sell the good ones, say where they are made, and donate the others.
I spend my days reworking business policies to fit the new Ground Advantage deal. Speaking of krap...as I walked out of the second thrift this morning empty handed it dawns on me...I need to seriously rethink my sourcing game. It is clear that short of some dead guys belongings nobody had the time to process, the stuff at most Thrifts is really garbage in 2023. It's left overs at best. The home runs are getting fewer by the second. If I only sold 2-3 skus I would be out of business. If you do not hit the fresh carts you are really wasting your time shopping a Thrift. There are now armies of resellers combing the aisles. All whacking away on their phones. I rarely see less than 3 resellers pushing the junk piles in the electronics section. Total waste of time. Even these hair curlers you rave about...total nothing burgers. I am literally down to looking for rare picture frames, pictures, flower vases, and linens..it is that shopped.
I like the longer videos because I’m learning so much from you. I appreciate you teaching us so patiently.
Glad you like them!
It’s refreshing to see a video on things that haven’t sold, not like every other UA-cam seller that just shows the highlights and unfulfilled profits!

Thank you for responding for my question you have amazing eyes all the best
thanks for the info great videos
Thanks. Ten minutes is short and sweet with great information.
Glad it was helpful! That’s for answering my question!
I think I have two of those M12 chargers sitting as well lol
Awesome video
I go through my listings once a month.. the items not selling get a price drop. 2 things happen, the item moves to the top and 2 they generally sell. You’re still making money just not what you wanted..
I got an email from Stanley to take out my listing on Ebay unless I'm licensed with them and it's not a VERO. I ignored them and it sold but I'll probably won't list them again because I don't want to get sued.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Do u sell much internationally
Thank you!!!
Perfect but more is better
I like longer videos!
Roger that!
We can't sell 2nd hand electronics in Australia without getting a safety certificate first.
10 minutes is a nice length video for me.
What's the sweet spot of how many items listed on your store is it 300 to 500 nice video
I have 2500 it depends how much mouth room you have. How many you want to list each day, how many items you can acquire lately
@@JrideFlips wow that's incredible I've got 175 listed lol I need to get more inventory 😂
@@featherstonehobbies my personal favorite for a part timer is 1000 items
@JrideFlips right so for part time I need approximately 1000 items listed wow that's mind blowing 🤯
@@featherstonehobbies not needed just a good place to make a full time living working only part time
Amazon's the platform that will not let you sell new branded parts without a invoice from the brand owner or distributor
I just sold a cafe cocoa today. So at least one of your competing listings is gone 😊
Occasionally I enjoy long form content but in general maybe I have ADD but I find it hard to watch content past about 10 minutes unless it's extremely riveting or engaging.
On a rage of extremely riveting and engaging where did this fall 1-10? Be as honest as possible if you could😊
@@JrideFlips I'd say about a 7.5 , interesting topic not too dense it was really palatable a little fluff in-between subjects pacing felt good. That being said that is the opinion of one person, I just caution about morphing your content too much based on individual feedback. I think in general I prefer 5-10 minute video for casual viewing and maybe 15-20 on in-depth topics.
@@Malkuthe thanks for the feedback!
I try and convince my wife that 5 minutes is plenty long enough, she doesn't buy it 😂
I'm so lucky to still be hitting 2k+ a month
I am trying to find a payment system to use to get paid people say Zelle I hate Facebook marketplace people get shot at and jacked that was today in florida
this video could not have come at a better time.
There is an eBay war brewing behind the scenes rn. I hope this is a positive video

It doesn't stand for cd rom..it stands for cd recordable.
Thanks 😊
@JrideFlips The CDR can be recorded on once, to re-record on one you'd need the cd-rw which stands for cd re-writable.
