Jon I'm really contemplating on getting the M8 would u say that the m8 is a upgrade if I'm coming from an iPhone5...what your personal opinion on the m8
I have to say, this has got to be the best mini-review of the new HTC M8 that I've seen. It's informative, interesting, features quality picture/video examples to see what this device really brings, and more. A very stellar presentation, liked the razor ad at the end, well done to everyone that contributed to this video from TLD !
I agree with you buddy on the sleep button/"Power Button" placement. Volume Down spot is where it should. You make very excellent videos. I love the extreme attention to detail you take in all that you do. Much better than all the rest of the tech community doing videos. Keep up the good work Jon.
I picked up the M8 on launch day, I was a long time Samsung fan...since the Galaxy Epic. All the features you mentioned were the main reason I made the switch, I would of made it last year with the M7 but didn't due to the lack of expandable memory, so this year it was a no brainer.... But one of my favorite features was the motion launch features...especially the double tap, it definitely makes turning the phone on easier then reaching for the horribly placed wake button. Nice video once again...can't wait for the full review.
***** I watch a lot of videos too and its only overheated once, it did get hot but to be honest it wasn't any different from when my Galaxy devices did it. The device is prefect for media consumption, especially with the Boom Sound speakers, no other device comes close.
***** I also sold my Note 3 to get the M8. The Note 3 is one of the best phones out, the only reason I switched was for the boom sound speakers and I like the narrower feel of the M8. I do miss my Notes display size sometimes though.
Thanks for the impressions, I really appreciated the camera demo. It really shows what we can do with the camera. No other impressions have shown the amount of things we can do on the camera. I thank you for that! (:
Just picked this phone up. First HTC experience and very impressed! I do find myself lookin' for the power button near the volume rocker, but I'm training myself to use the motion gesture. Also, the speakers on this phone are amazing! People usually wish they could turn the volume up when playing music through the phones speakers. I've found myself turning the volume down, because its so loud and crystal clear. BTW, thanks for the review!
More UA-camrs and just ads in general should show ads they way you guys did. That was actually awesome haha. Didn't even know until you mentioned the brand.
I personally own an HTC One m8 and is a guaranteed awesome phone. I don't really have an issue with the lock screen button and the boom sound is killer!! HTC has come out on top this year.
I loved everything about HTC one (2013 edition) (the best of the best build quality, the great hardware and so on) but I had one problem, expandability (it wasn't a huge issue, but I would have like the option to expand if necessary) and now on that they have added that on the M8, I believe its pretty much complete (plus, most of the new feature that comes with it), I would not hesitate (if I had the check) on buying one. And I should mention how greatly done this video was, very nice job. Truly appreciate you highlighting and explaining the best new features on the HTC One M8, and I am looking forward to seeing your full review on it.
I got this phone a week or so ago and I'm loving it so far. My take on the reasoning for the sleep/wake button placement is where it is comes from the Ir reader located directly behind the button itself. It bothers me a little as well, but If it didn't have the power button there, 3rd party accessories and cases would cover the ir reader up and would hinder the use of that feature, which I'm really enjoying btw.
I got the M8 last week, and I actually am not having issues getting the sleep/wake button, but it could definitely be placed better next time. Still love the phone though!
I love the sleep/awake button placement, since you can awake the phone with motion launch, it does not really matter where the button is, furthermore when im driving and my phone is in cup holder or the special phone stand in my car, having the button on top actually have sense... I can easily activate my phone and quickly check wheather I have any new notifications or not. In any other situation, I use motion launch to awake the phone screen.
Thanks Jonathan for the great video, looking forward for more to come!! Got to test the Samsung Galaxy S5 today with the Gear Fit, excited to see how the two phones matchup!
I use an iPhone as my "daily driver" so when I got the HTC One M8, it was easy for me to find the sleep/wake button as it is in a familiar position where my hand instinctively goes to.
Attention Jonathon Morrison I have discovered something very important about this camera that people need to know and especially you reviewers. There is a supposed protective film that comes on the main camera lens. It's really prone to scratching however it can be removed but most importantly once removed it increases the resolution dramatically. We've been discussing this in the HTC M8 group on Google social. Everyone that's removed it says the same thing. It makes it look just as good as the s5 mega pixel shooter. It normally cast a slight haze that's very notice when it's removed. My lens looked really scratched after using alcohol some use toothpaste or nail polish remover and with a little elbow grease you can see it come off. As I say the effects are irrefutable and this needs a video. Thanks Chris Enlightened.
Just a note, top camera is a 2MP depth sensor, bottom camera is the 4 "UltraPixel" camera, but otherwise great job on this. Also, can't help but agree with you on the power button placement, it drives me up the wall sometimes!
I love my M8. The speakers are great for media and Sense is surprisingly tasteful for a skin. I totally couldn't live without the motion launch gestures, as the power button is indeed in an awkward position. I just wish you could double tap to power on in any orientation, like when it's flat on the table. I also can't help just admiring the fit and finish of this phone. The gray version is so unique and striking.
Thanks for the update, everything you've said in your review is spot on. I'm at 24hrs with my new M8 and loving it! I've had every generation of iphone and over the years I've tried to switch to android multiple times and have always been disappointed until now. It always seems as though android phones come across as cheap and unreliable while Apple always came across (although a very restricted OS) well finished and stable, especially for business use. HTC almost had me with the M7 if it would've had expandable memory. I do wish the M8 had a 64gig option as I've always preferred built in storage over micro sd from a performance standpoint. Anyways great review. Thanks again.
I got my M8 yesterday. I got gold, and my friend got gunmetal grey which looks better in my opinion. I AGREE with your thoughts about the sleep/wake button placement. I Will probably bee using motion launch a decent amount. It Would probably be annoying for someone who doesn't want to use motion launch and has small hands.
I'm an iPhone user, but I plan on switching the M8 once my contract need to be renewed. That being said, I think the power button on the top of the M8 will be a pretty easy pick up for me :)
The placement of the Sleep/Wake button is actually something I don't mind, since I will be coming to the M8 from an iPhone 5 (which I still love as a device.)
this is random but is an electric razr from like bruan or phillips worth the couple hundred dollars over manual razrs? (since ur ad was about shaving LOL)
I like the way you did add the DollarShave video into it... Enjoyed the video. Hopefully Carmelo will join the Bulls next season... I'm sure you'll find joy in that..
In re the sleep button position: I'll move on to the M8 from using a HTC One X, so it's currently placed where I'm used to (I had the One X for 2 years), but I have sometimes wished it was placed on either side of the phone just because it would be easier to get to if holding it with one hand. Like, say, when you're pulling it out of your pocket (I have small hands and the phone is quite sizable, so to unlock it without risk of clumsily dropping the phone, I have to hold with one hand and unlock with the other. Hoping this motion sense helps).
Great review. found you through the Austin Evans video, YOU ROCK. So, I have a Dell Venu Pro 8" but really want a 10" what is your fave 10" tablet? Maybe a compare video?
Based on you and DetroitBORG's videos I just had to order one of these bad boys for myself. I love my Note 3, but I never use the pen and find myself wanting to downsize a bit.
***** Thanks for the reply. I'm going to upgrade from the S3 and the S5 camera looks promising besides capturing 4K ( don't care much cos 1080 is plenty though 1080 at 60fps video! ), but the M8 looks amazing, besides the asymmetric screen with the HTC logo in the bottom.
HAHAhahahahahaha this is the best embedded ad I've ever seen, dollar shave club or not. Absolutely fantastic video by the way. If I wasn't a fan before, I definitely am now.
I am really fine with the placement of the power button on the M8. I only use it to power off the phone. The notion launch justifies the placement of power button.
Good job Jon.. i want to ask you a question. How about the touchscreen sensitivity comparison between new htc one and iphone 5s? I am using samsung galaxy note 2, and i experienced my phone touchscreen sensitivity is too slow compare to iphone 5.
Great video thanks for sharing i'am really thinking about getting this phone I have the iPhone 4s right now i'am going for the HTC ONE M8 or the iPhone 5s
Should I wait for the iPhone 6 or does this phone take good standing for 2014? I'm personally an Apple fan but i dont have high hopes for the upcoming iPhone model.
Awesome Jon, thanks for the shout! Totally agree with everything you said! And the ad...effing AWESOME!
Haha no problem. Loved your review today! Thanks for the kind words too!
I watched it just for the ad
awesome
Awesome buddy

Kevin was filling in for you.
Jon I'm really contemplating on getting the M8 would u say that the m8 is a upgrade if I'm coming from an iPhone5...what your personal opinion on the m8
That little skit at the end was awesome! Thats how ads should be lol

hey which 64GB micro SD card would you prefer for m8?
I am planning to trade my galaxy s4 with m8, will that be a good idea ? *****
Nitish Mehta yes any day
Great video Jon! You nailed 4 of my 5 favorite features!
I saw your tweet!
That was by far the most amazing ad Segway, and ad itself, at the end! I actually watched the whole thing! :D
Woo! :D
Thanks Jonathan for letting me help make the spot in this video. I loved it
No problem man. Thanks again! You're a star haha
***** LOL.... I wouldn't go that far
I have to say, this has got to be the best mini-review of the new HTC M8 that I've seen. Thanks so much dude!
Stellar breakdown of *****'s top 5 HTC One M8 features. Well worth a watch, top notch stuff!
Thanks a bunch man! :)
***** y Welcome as always man!
I have to admit that was a really good intro to your sponsor :o Also, great video and sound quality is great too as always hehe.
Appreciate that!
I agree with you buddy on the sleep button/"Power Button" placement. Volume Down spot is where it should. You make very excellent videos. I love the extreme attention to detail you take in all that you do. Much better than all the rest of the tech community doing videos.
Keep up the good work Jon.
best ad insert ever... seamless from end of video to beginning of ad! very nice
Glad to hear that!
Nice video, and cute shave club skit! I'm seriously considering the M8 at this point, especially with that storage expandability and boom sound.
I picked up the M8 on launch day, I was a long time Samsung fan...since the Galaxy Epic.

***** Nice 👍
Note 3 was a beast just too big for my hands.
BEST AD TRANSITION EVER
Agreed!
Epic ad placement. Flawless
LOL, the advertisement impressed me the most :))
That's a good thing I suppose haha
Syed Ariff any idea when this is out in Malaysia? Can't wait..
yoska de jong Probably in late April. I'm so psyched for it too man! One of the best Android phones ever made!
Yup! Late April huh, and no idea how much.. I know this guy who has a few already form Europe and is selling it at 2999, haha crazy
Thanks for the impressions, I really appreciated the camera demo. It really shows what we can do with the camera. No other impressions have shown the amount of things we can do on the camera. I thank you for that! (:
Great video! Nice explanation of the best new features. Keep it up!
Thanks Matt!
I'm subbed to you.....

BTW, thanks for the review!
More UA-camrs and just ads in general should show ads they way you guys did. That was actually awesome haha. Didn't even know until you mentioned the brand.
Nice video man! You did a good job with the details of these features. Looking forward to your review!
Thank you!
This is literally like the best video with the best way to present ad!
I personally own an HTC One m8 and is a guaranteed awesome phone. I don't really have an issue with the lock screen button and the boom sound is killer!! HTC has come out on top this year.

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback man :)
***** Anytime, man :) I had to post one because of how greatly done your video was.
Woah, I've never seen bomb sound in action till that. That's an amazing speaker!
It is!
You put so much quality in your productions! Enjoyed watching the whole video!I hope that one day I will reach your level!Keep it up!
I got this phone a week or so ago and I'm loving it so far. Awesome job on explaining the camera features! Thank you for the examples for us visual learners.
Fantastic and creative combination between your main video and the ad haha, like it (y)
legendary phone, gonna buy this soon because i saw someone's selling for $100
Haha I love your transition from talking about M8 to BBall to Dollar Shave Club
Just got the phone today and this helped me big time.
Ahaha that sketch at the end was amazing! Mike and Kevin did an excellent job! :)
They did! Thanks dude!
Thanks Jonathan for the great video, looking forward for more to come!! Got to test the Samsung Galaxy S5 today with the Gear Fit, excited to see how the two phones matchup!
The skit at the end should be how all adds on UA-cam channels should be! :D great video, might consider getting the One M8
I use an iPhone as my "daily driver" so when I got the HTC One M8, it was easy for me to find the sleep/wake button as it is in a familiar position where my hand instinctively goes to.
even from the 5s it was a little awkward to me but that's why I like hearing different opinions!
perhaps its because its harder to reach up to the top of a much larger phone
I consider you the best tech youtuber, nice video John!
Lotta amazing company but thank you!
Best ad placement ever :)
***** that's the way every UA-camr should display their sponsors. That was awesome great video *****
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video with cool Ad... Thats why you are one of the best tech channel in UA-cam...
Really nice video, and thumbs up for the smooth transition into the ad.
Really nice video best one iv seen on this phone, any chance you could do an episode on the best gaming laptop out currently

The TLD videos always provide something extra that others just can't.
Just did the trade in with htc. I cant wait for it to get here!!
That advert was actually amazing haha!
Just a note, top camera is a 2MP depth sensor, bottom camera is the 4 "UltraPixel" camera, but otherwise great job on this. Also, can't help but agree with you on the power button placement, it drives me up the wall sometimes!
I had the M8, currently I have the note 5 and although I love the note 5 the one thing I miss about the M8 is the camera features.
Awesome video Jonathan, I love the ad in the end ( it's kind of weird saying an ad is awesome but yeah)
You are awesome and please bring more videos. Looking forward seeing you more often on UA-cam
Thanks a bunch! That means a lot :D
I agree with you guys on the placement of the lock button. I keep clicking the volume keys when trying to unlock it.
I love my M8. The speakers are great for media and Sense is surprisingly tasteful for a skin. I totally couldn't live without the motion launch gestures, as the power button is indeed in an awkward position. I just wish you could double tap to power on in any orientation, like when it's flat on the table.

Sometimes I have to triple check to see if I have it in my pocket cuz its so slim and with no edges is hard to notice.😊
Thanks for the update, everything you've said in your review is spot on. I'm at 24hrs with my new M8 and loving it! Awesome video, great Explanation. Well made and top notch quality. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!
K. That was probably the best Sponsor sections of a video I have seen.
The dog's name is Big Mac. HOW CUTE. Great review by the way! I am seriously considering this phone over the GS5.
I got my M8 yesterday. I got gold, and my friend got gunmetal grey which looks better in my opinion.

Thanks for the input!
Great stuff mate! It felt like a review watching the video which is a good thing!
Glad to hear that! Thanks!
The HTC One M8 is a great phone. I been using it for close to two months and it's great.
Haha love how you worked the sponsor into the video. very creative :)
:)
haha nice. great video, mentioned my favorite team, and incorporated an advertisement in a creative way. good stuff!
this is random but is an electric razr from like bruan or phillips worth the couple hundred dollars over manual razrs? (since ur ad was about shaving LOL)
I've never owned a crazy razor like that haha.
I like the way you did add the DollarShave video into it... Enjoyed the video. Hopefully Carmelo will join the Bulls next season... I'm sure you'll find joy in that..
Let's hope haha. Thanks!
Great video! Love how your always descriptive and explain all things. Looks like a cool phone but sticking with Nexus 5!

best dollar shave club plug ever.
:)
I am very impressed with your advertisement... Great video...
Nice video, subscribed :)
Also loved that ad, i actually watched it rather than skipped, lol.
That ad was amazing =)) Adv student right here so yeah
I always look forward to your review videos! Thumbs up! 👍
Htc one m9 with 8 ultrapixel camera that takes good shots with power button and sd card location switched = perfect phone?
and with htc sense 6.5
When does the m9 come out?
i guess february or march
Owismael I have a HTC one but wanted to upgrade so I'll wait until the HTC m9 to get the sexy beast that is the one+one
Frank Shang No because HTC will get hated by everyone, thinking they copied apple
hey man, amazing review! what is the name of the song you played as the sound test at 7:30?
I have an M7, i can't wait to make the up grade to the M8
Maybe your best video so far, keep it up!
Great review. found you through the Austin Evans video, YOU ROCK.
So, I have a Dell Venu Pro 8" but really want a 10" what is your fave 10" tablet? Maybe a compare video?
for tablets I'm still an iPad guy
Based on you and DetroitBORG's videos I just had to order one of these bad boys for myself. I love my Note 3, but I never use the pen and find myself wanting to downsize a bit.
Nice! You'll dig it.
I work at T-Mobile and I can't wait for the launch of this beast! Hopefully its not too overshadowed by the S5 :/
Thanks for sharing this video. I have a htc one m8 too& didn't know I can use some useful tips. Thanks
Great review. Is the camera picture quality that bad? Cos the pictures of your dogs look sharp. And that's the only thing holding me to buy one.
It's not great but it's not as bad as some make it out. Not better than the iPhone 5s for sure.
I liked your review, very informative, well spoken. I planned on buying a m8 soon and found this very helpful. thanks =]
Thanks for the video.
Heard that the pictures taken by HTC M8 are not of good quality. Any idea...?
Power button alignment is on perfect place, I like it when it's on top , easy to access
HAHAhahahahahaha this is the best embedded ad I've ever seen, dollar shave club or not. Absolutely fantastic video by the way. If I wasn't a fan before, I definitely am now.
Woo. Thanks!
I like how u tied the ad into the video. New subscriber keep it up. :)
Thats a hell of an ad... good job and nice video ... love this channel
I am really fine with the placement of the power button on the M8. I only use it to power off the phone. The notion launch justifies the placement of power button.
Would love to see you review some pico projectors!!
This video was EPIC bro, and your name is just as EPIC lol!! You da man Jonathan. Peace
Great video! Really enjoyed it from start to finish.
Nice sketch! Great video!
:D
Good job Jon.. i want to ask you a question. How about the touchscreen sensitivity comparison between new htc one and iphone 5s? I am using samsung galaxy note 2, and i experienced my phone touchscreen sensitivity is too slow compare to iphone 5.
Doing ad in the video like this is awesome, enjoing watching the ad that way.
I loved the video, phone, features, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!!!
