In a time devs can make serious money for their creations, customers should expect serious - improving quality. Carenado well earned its reputation for a questionable/non existent update policy. Microsobo should really voice the expectation for developers providing continous improvents alongside the simulator, not only fixes when technology changes to the point of incompatibilities but quality improvements and enhancements. Really hope that products get reviewed more critical. It really makes me angry to see devs a la CaptainSim or this guy spaming with light mods mmaking quite some money for delivering unusable crap. Thanks as always. 💙
The WT 530 beta GPS unit is breaking everything, in many planes. If you remove it, everything works. This has been reported to Carenado but I doubt they'll do anything, instead wait for Working Title to sort their issues out. Milvis is also affected and has already stated that they "don't support 3rd party avionics" so they aren't fixing their planes either. It's disappointing and a bit shocking that it's having such an effect, but it's also a beta GPS product you're installing, so it's hard to fully blame Carenado in this case anyway. They deserve criticism for other problems though.
As another commentator mentioned, there is a patch for the 750 so it works. I decided to wait until the 530/430 comes out of beta and then I'll install it. The GTN750 will then work with it. I use the GTN 750 autopilot so I don't have to work with plane's autopilot. I haven't flown this plane in awhile. Now, after your review, I'll have to give it a try again.
I own an Ovation. You definitely need the boost pump to start it. This one has the old Mortz gauges that require you to replace them ALL when one breaks. Also, the IO550 in the Ovation is limited to 280 HP (it can produce 350 HP in other applications) so there is no hurting it real life either. For a piston airplane it’s fast, all weather with TKS, comfortable, reliable, good looking and strong.
The AP-VOR-NAV does work. Just tried it from KGON to HFD VOR at 114.90 at 3000 ft. The HFD VOR has a range of 40 nm according to LNVMAP.. It flew right over the VOR using AP-NAV-2 (top right gage).. Nav-1 didn't activate until I got in the air. Maybe mountains blocked the VOR signal ? "VOR signals are transmitted on line-of-sight. Any obstacles (buildings, mountains or other terrain features, including the curvature of the earth) block VOR signals and restrict the distance over which they are received at a given altitude." The stock ALT-FLC commands/events can be used instead of the pesky FLC panel. I have my stream deck/mobiflight home made panel set it for it. The trim switch I guess was never meant to be used. Mooney is my fav plane and have been using it since day one it was released.
I think you might of been too far to the right of the VOR radial when you engaged VLOC. As soon as the needle starts to move towards the radial is when you should engage NAV on the AP. Great video thanks for posting! Beautiful plane and scenery!
Good video and good piloting. I owned and flew an M20e and used the M20r since Alabeo. Others here have highlighted the AP problems caused by the unauthorized exchange with the GNS530W installation. As you recall, the original Carenado M20r's G530 booted up as soon as electronics switch was activated. This GNS530W screwed up the Carenado's autopilot but you've highlighted some meaningful work-arounds. Thanks for that. BTW, the power and prop should have been pulled back to squared (24x24) but maybe that's too realistic for some. LOL
Altitude controller is also broken due to the Working Title unit being installed. Same device is also in the Bonanza V-Tail and it's broke there too. I reported it to Carenado some time ago and they said they'd have a look. Haven't seen anything being updated. I just totally removed the WT 530 package in content manager because it breaks everything. There's a free PMS 530 that has everything the WT unit has anyway and it doesn't totally break a bunch of planes in the sim. Milvis for one has now stated in response to this mess, "we don't support 3rd party avionics" and suggest people only install 1 3rd party GPS at a time because they aren't fixing their planes. I figure other devs probably hold the same position. It's someone else's beta product you're putting in their plane after all.
Seems to be a under rated plane. Had this a good while its quick and sounds great. I am a big fan of the 6 pack style aircraft, old gauges are cool imo. Everything is well modelled and the plane itself is laid out very well so everything is readable and in view. Not a fan of the avatars from carenado. Its a bit more fun than the pipers and bonanza. Great video reviews recently.
Jonathon - after watching your video and noting the autopilot problems, I checked out the product in the MSFS store to see if their was any mention of a fix in the 13th January changelog update... The only autopilot changes/fixes were related to to the Working Title GNS and the TDS GTnxi - the only other comment was "other minor bug fixes." Despite that I bought it anyway and I'm sad to report that the same problems still exist. Altitude change still doesn't work - it blows straight past the altitude requested in both ascent and descent rather than automatically setting altitude hold when reaching the programmed altitude. The same problem exists with vloc navigation - plus I got a bonus bug - my heading select doesn't light up so I can't tell if it's set or not without waiting for a course deviation. [begin rant] Add to the above a fairly aggressive autopilot in general, and it would be fair to say it's simply not good enough! These are really basic bugs which directly affect core functional control and should be really simple to fix for an outfit with the experience that Carenado has. I sincerely hope they read your comments and get off their butts to fix these problems. I think I'm more irritated than usual because I absolutely love the aircraft. It's a dream to fly - stable and forgiving yet very powerful...but apart from tootling around locally it probably won't get the use it deserves from me. 😕 [/end rant] 😂

(it has also display size issues in many of my aircraft). The aircraft has been broken half the time I owned it (since 2020 ??) but this time I think the fault is not with Carenado.
We should get a group of M20’s in a group flight lol😊 Ya my alt gauge seemed defunct as well. I had my landing fail to open a few times too. Not sure why it refused but had to belly land her😊
I have the Carenado Mooney for MS 2020 and I fly it regular and have got my head around the altitude preselector but I cannot see how Carenado can not fix this problem which has been very well documented, it would seem to be such a simple fix but they still haven't done it.
For me the Carenado products are out of question. I bought a couple of them and they just disappointed. The sound quality is not good, there's no system depth. It may be good for the players but not for the immersion seeking simmers
i miss flying that plane in the sim. bought it soon after it was released when it was on sale, and flew the heck out of it for months. MS should pull that aircraft off the marketplace as it no longer functions properly.

Agree. Found the same thing. Also, if you use the PMS50 In--Cockpit WTT mode it defaults the GPS to the PMS50 GTN750 and won't let you switch to the 530. Altitude: Set the altitude and arm. Then, select the VS and engage. It will then stop at the altitude. Each A/P I have used is different.
This airplane is absolutely gorgeous(the actual plane and the carrenado 3D model). What a shame that it’s a carenado product. Sound design is immersion killing, and the flight model is just stiff. For an aircraft that’s meant to be hand flown, this is just unacceptable. What a shame, this is the ultimate single engine piston vfr machine.
I've used a lot of Carenado planes from FSX to P3D to XPlane11, but the support and fixes have definitely decreased when MSFS came along. Sad thing is, they are the only dev who makes the GA planes I wanted such as the Seminole and Seneca. Was disappointed with the PC12 as well.
First of all no matter the topic an always interesting watch but been bitten twice by Carenado so no more of that rubbish Seneca and Sky Master but am using the Skymaster not too bad.
Hello, im not getting any replies to my question on other video's but i thought i would try one last time here, I just received an email stating my new computer has shipped and i should get it in a few days.. i have never played MSFS before but have played with google earth FS ok sorry back to my Question: my internet is slow here about 15 download and only 1.5 upload will this be too slow to play.. and how long should the download of the game take ? it sounds like even with a fast connection it takes hours... should i even forget trying this out ? TIA
With 15 megabit you're probably looking at a couple of days to do the initial download. Don't worry though - the installer does this for you, and recovers too. You'll be able to run at medium settings without too much difficulty - I used to before we had faster internet.
@@KE6DOA There's no point - the sim gets updated every month from Microsoft - sometimes the updates are big. DVD versions of it tend to come on more than 10 DVDs, and are useless after the first install - because then you end up waiting for a day for the updates to happen (on a slow connection).

My dad had an m20 when I was a kid. Super smooth and easy to fly. I miss that plane. Glad I can fly again in msfs.

I've had no issues with it since it was last updated. That said, I've got rid of the GTN750.

I have it mapped to the spoilers axis.
Check the left side of the pilot's yoke for a small red button below the AP/TRIM DISC switches.

Yep - maybe I wasn't clear. The issue of course is that following Sim Update 11, the Working Title 530 is standard.
