I never understood what the directors and whoever were playing at with the twins. Especially Susan. She was either played by English speaking or Scottish speaking actresses. Never just one. Same with Peter. Then they killed her off without really developing the character
Brilliant episode - an ordinary family drama (appendicitis) made riveting by brilliant directing, acting and writing, with Anne Reid as Valerie outstanding like always and a lovely reminder of Albert's love and care beneath his miserable moaning exterior. Also there's Hilda wreaking psychological havoc by threatening a 'bogey man' - almost certainly the root of Peter's eventual chronic alcoholism. Compare and contrast with the 2024 drivel.
Not as feisty as 2024, better or worst storylines in 1970, or 2024, actions spoke more than words, or the other way round. I was still at school in 1970, two years later and it was all over, such a shame that many of the actors in this have passed on, as they were household names.
great to see this episode quality dosen't spoil viewing much
Anne Reid ! Brilliant actress
This Susan is played by Wendy Jane Walker who then played the part as an adult and was the Susan that married Mike Baldwin
Who hasn't been married to Mike Baldwin. Or Ken Barlow for that matter. 😆

Brilliant episode especially the ending. Thank You. Do you have the next one 8th July please ?
Or the next two please leading up to the wedding ?
@@mariabrabiner7491I was born that day so I'd love to see it. I believe that was the day they announced the death of Jack Walker
