Even when I was a tween and watched this I knew it was just a show and that kids my age in real life can barely interact with the opposite gender much less know what love is. I mean the boys in my class at that age only came up to the girls' shoulders and still believed that "girl germs" was a thing.

Cellphones and social media in some ways polarized couples from enriching the love lives they already established, (because meeting new ppl became harder with social media and smartphones), and on the other extreme you have wild male and female promiscuity, but a drought of stable meaningful relationships. My take is CCS, predicted my generation’s romantic-Psych-social development, but romanticized the more wholesome aspects and liberal stigmatized same-gender relationships. Agree?

I started loving her when I realized everything she's done, being in love with Syaoran, and still being able to become Sakura's friend and... boy, she's strong as a rock and soft as a feather. I absolutely adore her.
In CLAMP's world, love knows no bound. We can say they are fifth grader, but with the magical world and stuff, they are mature beyond their actual ages. In Clear Card, we can see it's not just a crush, Syaoran and Sakura truly love each other.
If someone told me during the first 90% of this anime that I'd be sobbing for Meilin of all characters, I'd have assumed they were lying. It's so well acted, too. The way her voice just breaks as she's leaving Shaoran's house as quickly as possible because she's holding in tears as best she can is simply heartbreaking. Add in the fact that Tomoyo's comforting her because she's in the same exact situation, and man, does that hurt. A+, CLAMP. A+.
I appreciate that, despite being the only noncombatant of the group, Tomoyo is the strongest, emotionally. Meiling just needs to get it all out of her system, and Tomoyo is just patiently letting her. You know it eats her up too, with her feelings for Sakura, but she keeps it together because Meiling needs her to. As much as it sucks, she's long since made peace with the fact that Sakura doesn't return her feelings, and tries to be a pillar of support for her more emotionally immature and fragile friends.
Everybody needs to be heard and get things out of their system. It is not immature at all. I still think Meiling needs better friends. Tomoyo is passively hearing her.
Both Meiling and Tomoyo deal differently with their feelings and we should simply accept that people are different. Tomoyo is really strong for having loved Sakura forever and still be happy for her when she finds true love. Meiling is also really strong for having tried her best not to upset Syaoran. Yes, he did notice she was devastated, but her every effort was towards not crying in front of him, and trying to get it over with as soon as possible. She knew he would pick her up the next day, so she only had a few hours to get over the love of her life. And people call her immature. Although she's like 10 or 11 years old. Most adults would not be able to deal with it as well as Meiling did. Or Tomoyo, to be fair.

Now after watching her episodes on clear card I admire her character so much. She’s so incredibly mature about her heartbreak and so supportive and caring about both. I wish her and syaoran had more moments together as friends though. You can tell he cares about her so much. She deserves some love.

And going to Saukra’s friend who is just there to listen and let her vent. And Meling shouted at how much she did love Li. And she admitted how she even cared and liked Sakura too. Even though it hurt, even though Meling had to give him up, the more comforting part of letting him go was knowing that Li is going to be with someone that truly cares about him, Sakura.~ Serious, who COULD hate Sakura?
calforrai The English dub didn't even have this scene in it. For whatever reason the dubbers tried to downplay the romance as best they could, resulting in a lot of the Sakura Card arc being incomprehensible in the dub, even in the Australia/New Zealand airings.

I can only currently watch the dub (thankfully there's the other dub rather than the American release I had as a kid, the only thing I'd give the American release over the original is the intro is better, in my opinion). I can't deal with subtitles it's too much of a Hasselhoff, having to constantly pause the video so I can read what they're saying. I'm a slow reader. I'm studying Japanese and am gettin better but not by much is very difficult. Anyway back to the point of this comment Mei-Ling guessed he was in love with kinky, because he called her Sakura (which is the same in the dub), I'm currently goin through the show again and from what I remember back throughout season 1 (I'm on 2) I've only rarely ever heard him call her anything but Sakura.
