Ducky Docks!!! Oh my lord. I am so honoured. Consider yourself lucky that there is no camera here to catch my happy flappy quacky dancing. Thank you. I love this build. I'd love it even if it had a different name. There is something so special about the way you work with industrial elements. Extraordinary.
Looking amazing. Every time while you're prepping, I think "oh I wouldn't do it like that". And then always after the detail I think "she was right, and mine would look rubbish!" And surely the waterfront district should be Floridon.??
I think the improved outside connections mod might help with that insane ship traffic! It makes the game wait until the ships are full(er) so you end up with less in total. Also this is just mind blowing. This series has had that effect more than any other I’ve seen.
@@fewcandy Yeah ships are shocking, I always up my ship capacity to a more realistic number like 1000. And Deffo the outside connections mod. Best port ive ever seen! Can't wait for your airport! :D
I distinctly remember when I first started watching your content and you only had about 3 episodes or so out. As I'm always very selective in what content I consume, I wasn't ready to fully commit until I saw your first industrial build. That's when I knew that this was something special. This build just made it full circle to that initial reaction I had but in a much more grandiose way. I'm fully committed to the FewCandy universe now and cannot ever see myself not intensely waiting for anything you put out as I'm convinced, without a shadow of a doubt, that I'll absolutely love it. I'm sure you're tired of me saying this so many times now but you are ridiculously talented, your episodes are always of the highest quality and each one leaves me literally awestruck every single time. What a build 🥲
Wow thank you so much Ahris! I think this is the nicest comment I’ve ever had, made my day to hear you enjoy it so much! The content will keep coming and hopefully to the same standard! 😄
You are my new favorite City Skyline UA-camr because you didn't spend a ridiculous amount of time with roads and water pipes. Instead you went deep into the building and designing. You even did a prop montage. Every second spent watching was worth it. Thank you for sharing your video.
Not sure how I missed THIS of all episodes! It's another example of how you expertly mix the functional in with the aesthetic. My only gripe is the vanilla containers are like... neon. I hate them, but you still manage to make them look good. Brava, FC!
I wish we all could park as well as the person you parked those new cars nose to tail! One way that might help reduce the ship traffic is to greatly increase the passenger capacity of the ships (the Dover-Calais ships have at least 1000 passenger capacity for example)
This is really cool. It's fun to see Auridon looking more and more like a real city! I was driving through Seattle the other day and noticing things I usually wouldn't pay as much attention to, like the skyline and the cargo docks.
Finally aught up to the video that brought me to your channel in the first place. Your industrial detailign always amazes me, not to say that the rest doesn't, but compared to other content creators you seem to get the industrial side of it a lot better than others.
For the record, I would totally watch 5hr timelapse of detailing because honestly, the detailing is my favorite part lol. You could always consider uploading full detailing video's as an aside lol.
First off - absolutely INCREDIBLE build. Amazing level of detail and it looks so good seeing the whole thing alive with activity. Definitely makes me think of a real-world port, like Singapore or Rotterdam! Secondly - random little idea that came to me for a build on that land adjacent to the harbour (something I quite enjoy building myself): a science/Innovation district, using some of the High-Tech Unique Buildings, a smattering of IT Cluster and suchlike. Make it an 'innovation hub' for science laboratories, educational centres, modern factories, etc. Kind of like Auridon's Silicon Valley, if you get my drift?
8:33 Akruas made a whole series of videos about realistic train tracks. According to him the recommended maximum slope for train tracks is 1.25% with exceptions in special cases. In any case 3.9% is would be impossible IRL. There are also limitations on the radius of the curves of train lines.
This video dropping to my inbox was the last bit of motivation I needed to finish cleaning up at home. Just based on the thumbnail I know this one will be good!
Heavy Lorries joining onto the highway on the left lane? That will finally give those overpowered hospitals some use when putting all those injured on that road back together from tiny pieces and mash. :-D Just my opinion. Better built a highway patrol station on every slip road and a rescue helicopter station next to it.
I know you dont use much assets from the workshop but someone made storage units for all types of goods and they look just like stacked containers. The height of the containers varies how full the storage warehouse is also. I find them really pretty and a great adition to make a harbour look more realistic and having a function to them
Thanks for your great work. I used this episode to help me build a small cargo port. I’ve tried only a little bit of the detailing - which is totally astounding and unfathomable for me to follow - so can only watch and not do. But without this vid I still could never do what I’ve done so far. My next task now, lies in getting in a connecting train cargo hub to link to the harbor, so will check out your build for that one.
Ahh that’s so nice to hear the vid can provide inspiration! ❤️ I may go a little ott on the detailing! But hope you can follow the train hub connection 😄
Ducky Docks is amazing!!!!! What an insanely incredible harbour, hours of prop detailing that is so much fun to watch in the timelapse, and boat traffic for days! I also loved the crazy amount of walking p0rn that is happening in this area, all the pink ladies and men coming to visit, yay!!!! The rail line driver at the beginning, Mr Confused going to Confused from Confused, AKA building, building, building, was my favorite! I hope he made it, whoever he was and wherever he was going. Godspeed, Confused. Love love love this build, Few, and I was super happy to be in the discord yesterday and got to see the work in action!! Woooooo!!!!
it would be nice if you put a customs area near the toll booth in the harbor, where goods and trafic can be checkt before they letting it pass. I think every middel ore large port having such areas in real life. but orther than that what a great piece of art work you have done here, unfortunately I don't have the patience to build similar things in citties skylines
Oh my word, this build is so unbelievably good!! Every build just surpasses the last! As always can't believe your skill and attention to detail FC. Is there a mod to deal with the passenger ships? I find that I don't like placing them because of the ridiculous amount of ships they generate lol
Thank you Heather! Yes there is an outside connections mod I could use to ensure ships are full before they enter, and of course I need to also increase capacity and that should hopefully fix it!
You could get rid of that level crossing if you do some adjustments on the roads. Instead of having a road junction there, you could lower the crossing road and use ramps to connect instead. the road would go beneath the main road and the train tracks.
an idea for fixing the ship traffic I think there's a mod that makes intercity trains and ships have to fill up their passenger count before setting out, and u could use improved public transport to edit the passenger count of the ships to something crazy high so there's not 20 ships at one time
Just amazing details. Have a feeling I will be returning to this many times for "inspiration" for my industrial areas. Do you use Transfer Controller/Manager to manage the warehouses? The base game is so poor at routing industrial traffic to keep factories supplied.
Thank you! I don't actually use that mod! I'm not currently using any transfer manager mods, so managing with the vanilla mechanics at the moment. I used to play with more effective transfer manager but heard it was causing some instability so ditched it.
Awesome port build, love the night shot towards Downtown 🤩 It would be really nice if the cruise ships and the metro weren't so overpowered in the game, but at least it makes things look super busy 😂
What about marking all the area that now lies behind that toll booth as 'Auridon Freeport'. I think that this checkpoint most likely would represent the customs office.
There is much I could say about this episode, but I will focus on a bit of back story. Auridon's harbor goes back to the original founding of the city. All that is left is a few factories; if anyone wants to check will find the ownership goes to an unimposing night club owner. (Along with a fishing dock.) ...A hint for you Candy fishing helps with goods for commercial. Put in fish markets and fish factories. You now are set for exporting and importing. "The spice will flow" (You can use the back story if you like; I can be too vain for my own good.)
New to your channel. So nice to stumble upon women playing the game and uploading vids. 😀Do not play it myself - computer cannot carry the game. Now subscribing to your channel.
Suggestion: Look at the Tampa, Florida port area. Specifically Harbor Island and Davis Island. They are high end residential areas next to a major port. Might give you some ideas of what to do with those islands between the port and downtown. Suggestion #2- Cargo airport in that empty area where the breakwater joins the mainland, with the runway running perpendicular to the breakwater.
A long time!! So the whole episode was about 5 hours of building, most of that the detailing timelapse, but then I spent about 3-4 hours planning the build before hand. Definitely requires some patience! 😄

really nice build. One thing is bugging me though. The cargo train yard is only connected to the internal passanger rail line. I know it's not functional but it still feels wrong.
Thank you! The cargo train is yard is connected to the cargo train line which runs down to the cargo ship hub. Always make sure my internal, intercity passenger and cargo networks are completely separate!

Really great port design FewC! love the combo of different port vibes into the area :) Big fan of the train line sat on the quay too! lovely stuff =)

Increasing the capacity of the ships could also help, I think they default to just a 100 people.,
Thank you! Yeh definitely can look at this mod and increasing capacity, good suggestions thank you!

You could do what Biffa did in New Tealand and use the 1 way shipping lanes and build a water roundabout. Might help with the ship traffic

I love the rail yard and the old factory sections. The view from the main road is really nice too. Great work as always!

😂 yes it wasn’t the ideal traffic solution! Highway patrols and medical helicopters most certainly needed 😂
There is actually a highway exit to the left here in the south of Germany close to Stuttgart. I always chuckle when I pass by there.
Quay side's are always straight having the same water-way depth, even smaller cranes are fitted in line with the big cranes.

Oh gosh, I loved your city and level of detail. UA-cam randomly recommend your video to me, now I have a new inspiration for build. Like it 😉
