What a Nice result when I saw rust vernish I thought what is he doing but when I saw end result I was WoW Nice They also have blueing paste so u can blue metal without heat treatment Good luck with next restorations
This proves the old adage 'you can't polish a turd'! Far better to have filled the pits in the metal with a metal compound and finished with a coat of black paint.
I'm a Locksmith and my Heart goes weak after I watch this Video....... With a Steelhammer push on a 75 year old Part to open the clutch? A bit less of Oil and a lot more of time is the better way.
Soak in diesel fuel for a month or more -- that also penetrates things like the clamp that holds the barrel. Slow but effective, also good on brake calibers with frozen piston.
Can you explain the process and reasons for your "finishing" steps? From "rusty varnish" to dyscylated (sic) water to steel wool to "re-greasing" to final torching.
Loving Ur channel and love to know what equipment you use as I had a M42 but I found it was wrong paint work and found out it was a Luftwaffe sd which I restored well do u have any vids on this for future reference
Nice work. As it has a rifled barrel, it would be considered as a firearm in the UK, and the police would smash your door down and shoot you for possessing that.
Wow, quite an interesting process you use to get that fantastic patina at the end! Would love to know more about it, really looked good IMO. Honestly when I saw that thing I really didn't think you would get it apart, that was impressive! One question, was the heating and quenching required to keep the metal strong while you were unscrewing the barrel?
I'm heading straight back towards the time of operation good wood, and the St. Gore assault. It's when we were seeing these old-timer military defense bunkers. 😒
I agree Der Noob,, it is NOT a mortar,, much too small for armament, but yes, the right size for a grenade launcher... I have seen them fired from rifles and shotguns...
@@thesturm8686 Yep for sure ,I actually found 2 more still with paint, just a bit of rust. want to be careful not to remove it when cleaning.Any hints would be much appreciated.Cheers
@@kerrymcmanus9188 use degreaser soap its orange and rub it easy once it's done clean dry it with a hairdryer so you dont rub the paint off when drying it the handel is it's not rotted away put some wood preservatives on it
Well Lele,, I have found lots of things downtown Nuremburg,, but the best is in the Ardennes and Black Forest,, also near Munich or near Berlin,, BUT the cheapest and best if from Russia as they have tons of it,, however you cant bring some back as it is still functional, without permits and licenses and fees and import costs,, unless you find a dealer and they will sell and ship it to you,, most would be knives though as guns are pretty expensive and cost more to ship, and again, they would be considered armament and may not be able to be imported,, and SOME places have legal restrictions on swastika and nazi items sent to their country as well,,,, might research it a lil bit before buying,, yknow/?
You will learn to not use such crude, potentially damaging methods. Hammers, pipe wrenches, and hard jaw vises do unnecessary scratches, gouges, and dents.
C est pas un mortier ,mais un lance grenade pour le k 98 kar. Belle piece. Dommage pour la meuleuse,de l acide oxyalique. A mon avis c est barbare comme restauration. Bon n c'est vrai que le résultat est vraiment bien.,
Why is all these restoration videos the items are always gold rusty in colour it's impossible for everything to look the same no matter what the item is
the term restoration means to return something to its former condition what you have done is preserve you have done that very well but it certainly isn't a restoration a bit disappointed with the end result sorry
There are more professional ways of restoring things like this. Evapo rust is more effective in rust removal. You should always clean dirt off then spray it down in penetrating oil to loosen parts then remove all parts for cleaning.
приспособление для стрельбы гранатами с помощью винтовки, на дуло надевалось в ствол вставляли гранату и делали выстрел холостым патроном примерно так.
Hello, not a mortar, but rather a grenade launcher that could be fixed to the Karabiner 98k
I thought that's what it was
It has to be fired in a mortar posture.
@@jyotirmayamohanty5723 For long range shots yes, but for close range shots it could be fired like a rifle
Ah! That's what I was thinking.
He was close
No mortar but a „Schiessbecher“ produced in huge numbers for the battle at Kursk 1943
I noticed that the engineer didn't use the sandblaster to remove all of the rust. I've seen it done before on the Chip channel. 🍟 😳 😂 😐 😒 🤣 🍟
I am so proud!!
A restoration that started with the acid bath BEFORE they tried to take it apart. Well done sir!
Мортирка это всегда праздник!
Great video. What an amazing transformation of this K98 cup launcher.
The rifling on the tube is still perfect. Unreal.
Keep doing what you do, absolutely love your work!
Absolutely amazing!

Thank you for your interest and support.
that is a German WWII Mauser 98k Grenade Launcher the rifled barrel helps the round fly strate
Great job! I would have liked to see you weld a few more of the deep pits.

Amazing job, keep going.
I'm sure you'll be famous on yt very soon
I try to make good videos and I hope so will be as you say.

His technique worked did it not?
Give the lad a break buddy he is doing the best he can with what he has got
Oh true..

But you and the others guys here in UA-cam are doing a great job
This is amazing the way you do this.
Amazing job!!
you made a museum quality piece.
Very nice patina
Fantastic job on it.
That wire brush you’re using needs restoration lol 😂
Can you explain the process and reasons for your "finishing" steps? From "rusty varnish" to dyscylated (sic) water to steel wool to "re-greasing" to final torching.

Just as well he does not live in the UK then!
Danimal Von that’s why gun people live in the Good Ole USA!
I live in the UK and that is in fact utter bollox.
@@jonvincentmusic Well, they tried to do that to me.
Interesting information, I didn 't know. Luckily, I don 't live in UK:))
Have you restored ammo as well to try it on? Just kidding. Great work.
Yes, I can try to restore, but the UA-cam will not approve such a restoration. :)

I believe it is only to expand/shrink the metal to make it loosen more easily ,

Well done!!
Wow such an amazing find and the restoration is well done to. These videos help me alot so i know how to deal with these rellics when i find one 👍

Not a restoration. Clean and refinish.

Check out military history visualised they show this German grenade launcher and how it fits on to a rifle 👍
I like your videos, but it hurts watching you use a steel hammer when you should be using a mallet
Found one of these too ,
and now we should test it! xD

Rifle grenade launcher, not a mortar.

It was actually a RIFLED grenade launcher for the K98
