“Half a stop sign”. Lol now i can’t unsee it. 🛑
😝
The Boogie Bag needs one zippered pocket in the main compartment. And yes, the strap is awful, you especially notice it when you get some serious weight inside the bag. And I totally agree with you on the strap and the importance of really thinking it out and using quality materials. The strap should never be an afterthought on an expensive, well-designed bag. It is the strap that is dictating your comfort on waist packs and slings, just as much as the bag.
Thanks so much for the honest and straightforward review!
I’ll address a couple things here, so you can get it from the proverbial horse’s mouth:
The hated strap - The Boogie was built for rucking and to support hard use. The 1” nylon strap fits easily under/behind a ruck and/or hip belts. The bag was never intended to be worn cross-body. The reason it isn’t seatbelt webbing is because with friction and use, seatbelt webbing starts to fray, puff out, etc. It may have a nice handfeel initially, but with the intended use of this bag, it wouldn’t be as durable and would look pretty bad. The strap is utilitarian, to be sure, but doesn’t fail.
In addition to that, the buckles are removable and intended to be able to used with PALS/MOLLE e.g. being able to use additional male connectors and attach to the inside of a GR1.
Availability has always been an issue and is being worked on. Scarcity has never been a “tactic,” I make as much gear as I’m able to.
Price point is what it is because IF you like this bag, it won’t need to be replaced. I’ve never claimed anything about the Boogie Bag (or any other gear) other than it being durable and made for hard use. It is, and it is. Also, I want to ensure I stay in business and am able to grow my business, which is in progress.
Thanks again for the great review. I’m really glad to see the Mr. Treeger recommended over the Boogie as Wayne from Camel Chops is a great dude.
If you’ve got any questions, just slide in my IG DMs or send me an email!
Thanks for the response! It's an excellent bag and you're doing great work.
Good overview of the pack, while taking into consideration that this is a one man shop. I've had a boogie since the beginning. I was initially against the thin strap as well. However, after a few GORUCK events and miles in the woods, even trail running, I've come around to it.
This pack isn't designed as a crossbody bag. A sentiment I agree with the maker on. I'm not a crossbody guy. A replacement strap can be bought elsewhere and put in place, if you choose.
Great review Klint! And I absolutely love the comparison with other bags. Really helpful.
For me I need a 1.5” strap for crossbody wear. This shines more as a hip pack so maybe not needed but definitely should use a premium material for the strap.
With the size and functionality of this bag, we are talking about an extremely crowded space. I'm so glad you showed other, better options for the same price or cheaper. That's what sets your channel apart from all the rest. Great job Klint!
This is a very good and informative review! I like how you take into consideration the way each bag is made and by whom. Also, thanks for the mention 😮
Love the honesty!
I'm with you on that one Clint I want more too I want more bag for my money lol no I'm with you on the strap thing it's got to be at least inch and a quarter to inch seatbelt strap You're not alone trust me❤
Kargo has one that looks very similar. Haven't tried it. But I have their loculus, which I really like for a bit larger sling.
The Packolab Samurai is so good.
Agreed - I have a new one on order :)
I have a Boogie mkiii and a Mr Traeger and love both. I do run the Camel Chops strap on the Boogie bag, it is far and away more comfortable.
Nice!
I think you forgot the slingshifter and the 5.11 lv6 as comparable and more affordable bags.
Agreed
Been behind one since I got into Carryology… but because scarcity, I’ve been getting more uninterested and now looking for alternatives. I got a 5.11 and currently eyeing Stoic out of Texas for a backup. Having said that, if you want to make space, I can get it off your hands 😂
I agree that strap is out of place. I have no problem with the price of the bag, but it’s annoying they cut corners on one of these least expensive components. Have you tried swapping it for another maker’s strap? Even the detachable Alpaka one seems nicer and like it would fit.
I pretty much immediately traded and sold these bags. I didn't love them enough to keep them - I can't see them cracking my top 5 small crossbody bags
Bellroy makes a bunch of premium-feeling slings/waist packs.
Some great slings for sure from Bellroy
So right out the bat one of the things I don't like there's not $200 worth of space in that bag😮
Great review! Thank you. Do you have a recommendation on where to pick up patches?
Any particular theme? Etsy and Amazon are cheapest places
Not a competitive price and the 3 to 9 straps are not appealing
This bag sorta reminds me of the Kargo Hip packs as far as shape.
Agreed
What is your top edc laptop bags right now? And when will a new 2024 best laptop backpacks video come out? I’m having such a tough time deciding on what backpack I want. So many options
I'm putting together my best of 2024 video towards October. I'm putting out a new one today for a laptop bag that I really enjoyed. I have another two more on order too - lots of good backpack content coming.
Have you ever tried a Hill People Gear Belt Pack? Would love your comparison to a Boogie Bag.
I haven't! Actually I've never owned a HPG bag at all .
@@ThePerfectBag well, if you ever get the chance, I would love to hear what you think!
I'm afraid to ask,but what happened to the Temu vid i barely watch a few days ago? Also bit out of topic, but i'd love to see your accessories(bracelets, hats, etc) links that you often wear in this channel. They're quite my style as well.
I took the Temu video down - some folks are expressed concern over that sponsorship and I don't want to show support for anything divisive or offensive to any of my audience on the channel. Just ask on any of the gear you are curious about!!!
@@ThePerfectBag That's completely fair,LOVE the transparency and integrity man. Thanks for answering.
Also mostly your bracelets tbh. quite like the rope-y/Leather-y ones.
Yeah for the price point it should have had some hook and loop in the back on the inside😢
Interestingly enough - since I shot this review someone told me that the soft feel material in the back of the bag is actually hook and loop compatible. I didn't know that...so that's a win.
I use a Wave organizer on the inside. It is definitely hook and loop.
It's way too small for the price point I don't care how wonderfully wonderful it's made PS I love your work Clint keep up the good work what would help out to you is as you if you can tell us the leaders of each bag how many liters are in a bag that would really be helpful once again great job Love your program❤❤❤
Good call I should have clarified size on this one.
How do you like that wallet?
The little blank canvas one? It's solid. Wish it was an inch bigger both ways
Bought one and resold at retail immediately. It's a $100 bag with a $2 strap being sold for $200 and resold for more. Really hated the positioning of the straps too. Don't like how they stick straight out to the sides. They don't conform to your body unless you only wear it fanny pack style.
No it's not a bit of a problem My vanquest dendrite blows doors on that bag price point size wise and everything sorry
Not worth 200…. These bag prices are getting out of hand
