Perfect video...I just got my new 2022 Tacoma SR5 nice all black package with the dark gray alloy wheels and blacked out badging. Happen to have purchased the same tonneau cover and installing today. Thanks for sharing the installation video.
I just ordered a Tyger trifold and installed it last week. Took the Tacoma back and forth from to Chicago to Madison last weekend doing 75-80MPH with no issues. Very happy with it
I got a Gator SFX Tri-Fold and paired it up with a Dee Zee Rubber Mat to cover the bed. I love that combo. It keeps out 98% of water and keeps the bed itself protected. Can’t really go wrong for the price (less than $400 for both)
My new truck will be here in the next week or two. My current truck has a Leer canopy, which I really enjoy. I will probably get a similar canopy for my new truck, but in the meantime I am considering a tonneau cover. This video is a big help in choosing one that won't break the bank but gets the job done.
Congrats! Just folded her up and back down today again loading up some boxes for shipping and it still works great to this day! Tyger makes quality stuff.
I like this trifold cover and the price. I have the Toyota trifold cover on my 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport and it was a $650 option with installation. It works well to keep the bed mat clean and dry but it costs way more. It was convenient to buy it and have it installed by Toyota but now I wished I would have bought one in the $250 price range. I had a 2009 GMC Sierra SLT diesel 4X4 and I paid $550 for the dealership installed Access brand roll up type cover. I didn’t think it would last in our snowy subzero weather but it worked like new for the time I had the truck (I traded it in for the Toyota). It was sealed to the bed rails by industrial grade Velcro. The cover was some kind of vinyl that I treated once a year with 303 UV protectant. It allowed me 100% access to the entire truck bed which I really liked. If my Toyota tonneau cover has the least bit of problems past the warranty period I am going to get another Access roll up cover.
You want to hear a funny story? (In case you said yes) I have the Tyger one but I wish I got the one you have and spent a little more! Isn’t that funny! I like the hard material on yours to rest my Yeti full of coffee or tea or soup. It wobbles on the Tyger. I know my Tyger will last a long time though. And the soft material does give it a diff look. A little more adventure style if you will. And yes the roll up types are cool!
@@brianruperti great! I got mine installed after watching your video! Much appreciated. I thought (based on the cryptic instructions lol) that the front clamp was supposed to go onto one of the aluminum brackets. Should have watched the video first!
Great video! I may be getting this cover for my green taco very soon. I want something to mostly keep rain and snow out of the bed. I’m not sure I want to spend $2k for a diamondback but I know they are probably worth it. Have fun on your trip!
Thanks! Well just so you know, it went through 2 rainy days already (of course right after washing the truck) and also through a truck wash and almost zero rain got in, and only a tiny bit of water from the pressure washer and that was only in the corners by the cab. Other than that, 95% water tight. 👍🏼👍🏼. Minimal flapping at 60-80mph on highway. I like it more than I thought. Only drawback, my thermos wobbles if I rest it on the top, where as a hard cover would’ve been a great table for my thermos.
I paid $250 nine months ago and it sat in my house until I felt I needed it on. They offer for long bed as well. You’ll pay about $280 for a long bed cover. Loving it. Of course for $799-$1,199 I could’ve had a hard cover but to me it wasn’t that important to go had cover. The black hasn’t faded much at all. No splotches or peeling anywhere. No rips or bubbles of any type. I check the hardware once a year and re tighten from vibration but other than that very happy. Cheers!
I find im have trouble getting the metal brackets to slide on the Toyota tracks… it’s so tight… I either have to grind some of the bracket or find something else….. Any idea why is so tight?
Hey man I’m always here to help. This cover keeps out 90% of water. It’s not 100%. No cover truly is... but this cover is really, really good. I wish they were paying me 🤣 I’d love to do a commercial for them! Buy one. They’re a great value and so easy to install.
2 years later.. just bought one thanks to your video! Gets here tomorrow & will follow all these steps exactly!
Hey glad to hear!

Heres a tip on the Q molded rubber: lift up slightly and the strips will fix themselves. There is a little give to allow for it!
Just learned that on my own thanks for the reminder! Life is easy with it now :-)

Curious as to why you moved the metal tie down bracket from the middle to the inside location? Was it to get a better bite? Great video by the way.
Wanted to create tension. Thank you
So being a year later how is it holding up to the elements. I’m looking at this for my 21 trd pro

Are you referring to the aluminum h shaped ones?
So this one is the soft trifold?
Is the alloy trifold a hard shell?
This is a soft trifold. The alloy is hard yes
@@brianruperti alloy for me...thank you
I see you got the bedmat. Makes a world of difference doesnt it?
The bedmat has changed my life!
