I would rather have the bolts to turn, we have a 5240 with snap ring and it popped off when running (we always check it is installed properly but was worn just enough) and stripped the splines on tractor...expensive fix!! Bolts or 2 shafts would be my choice.

We have a 1994 Case International 7220 and it has both shafts and you don't have to change them. Its a really nice feature

I don't know why you farmers don't use snap ring pliers. They have them in all sizes and make it so much easier to remove and install.
