  • Symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder can qualify you for Social Security disability if these symptoms interfere with your ability to hold a full time job.
    In this video, I discuss my experiences representing #PTSD #disability claimants in hearings before Social Security judges. I have found that SSD judges are receptive to claims of #anxiety, depression and hyper vigilance but not in every case.

    Homelessness for several years, having your kids kidnapped by CPS,and a history of adult abuse (Physical,mental and/or sexual) as well as sexual assault (rape) can also cause it as well.

    why are these triggers even up for discussion? ptsd is ptsd. nobody is going to try to get SS for dropping their icecream or something. this makes me so mad!!!

    I do not know Mr. Ginsberg but from what I hear, I see he is very knowledgeable. As Mr. Ginsberg states, documentation with medical support. I would add a list of medicines that you were ordered from your psychiatrist. A history of employment but there is a pattern to this science and behaviors.

    I wish you practiced in my area sir . Would cleaning up a military plane crash with body parts and tissue strewn among the wreckage be considered a PTSD trigger ? Thanks again great informative videos we paid into the system and when can longer work we deserve to use the system we earlier funded for others .

      +nisw1918 It could be - I think that in cases where there has not been direct physical/sexual/emotional abuse over an extended period of time, you would need strong support from a mental health professional. If your experience triggered something from your past that would make your claim stronger. Again, however, support from a treating psychiatrist and/or psychologist would make your case much stronger. Good luck!

    On Thursday, I had an appointment for a general exam for my disability case, im not sure if this was the {ce} everyone talks about, but The evaluating Doctor, added PTSD to my chart, even though I did not list it as one of my disabling problems. Is that usual?

    • @ssdattorney
      @ssdattorney  Рік тому

      It is not usual but it is not totally unusual.

    My 6"3 300+ pound stepdad would physically abuse me when he couldn't control his rage and anger and left marks on my body. The abuse went on until I entered high school and he moved out of state. Police have me on record for running away to escape the trauma. Later on in the military, I was assaulted by a fellow airman that left me bloodied up, in pain, and a concussion. Struggled to be in the military and almost got kicked out- I ended up with an honorable discharged as a Persian Gulf War era vet 2000-2004. I have my court date late April 2024 and my VA disability is ongoing being reviewed.

    What about Complex PTSD. If I can get your help may be helpful.

    • @ssdattorney
      @ssdattorney  3 роки тому +1

      Edwin, PTSD cases are tough because many times the only records come from the VA and VA records are very hard to use in SSD cases. Further anxiety disorders cannot be imaged so judges have to rely on office treatment notes and therapists notes. My experience has been that to win a PTSD case, the record needs to contain evidence of suicidal behavior; or records of recent and multiple inpatient mental health hospitalizations; or unsuccessful psych medication trials.

      My experience has been that judges are receptive to PTSD/depression cases when there have been suicide attempts and/or inpatient mental health hospitalizations.

      Thanks for the response I'm currently in a claim with the military for disability and compensation for my PTSD once I finish them I will move to get ssd.
      She said I have occupational and social impairments with deficiencies with work school family and thinking. I think that's pretty severe.

    • @ssdattorney
      @ssdattorney  4 роки тому +1

      Your condition may be severe but you need your doctors to be more specific. Would you be off task 15% of the day? Do you have a markeed impairment in attention and concentration. Would you be unable to get thru a workday without interference from PTSD symptoms? The more quantification you can show, the better.
