Rumberger K1X-II - The best clarinet mic for live electronics?

- German manufacturer, Rumberger, is a leader in clarinet and sax contact microphones. Here I put the K1X through its paces using reverbs, delays, and other effects that usually destroy traditional microphones.
The sound quality seems to have improved a lot in this V2. Still, after listening to the examples on your blog, it seems to me that Intramic continues to have a more "natural" sound. A side-by-side comparison, if possible, between Rumberger and Intramic would be fantastic. Thanks for another great video!
I just got the PiezoBarrel pickup recently, which is very similar but you can plug it directly into an amp, though it might have worse sound quality than this pickup. I've been loving it, and for bass clarinet players you can get the JDWoodwind 3D printed necks, which are compatible, sound perfectly fine, and you don't have to mess up a real neck.
I long ago bought a Piezobarrel mic which I fitted to my Vito bass neck and used a Roland bass amp. As I upgraded to a low C bass I bought a 2nd neck, fitted the mic socket (and a SPIT KEY) and it works fine - great sound without any feedback. I use an XVive guitar wireless link to my pedal board (delay, wah and octave). I had to renew the Piezobarrel mic this year due to old age. Me and the mic both.
Great information. I might need this, Thanks!
Great video, thank you.
I've been weighing up switching to rumberger from my current pickup on my contrabassoon (all my solo playing is electroacoustic)
As a dutch viewer i loved the "Concertgebouw"! 😊
When they make a Blu tooth version I'll be interested
So good. Great to know there's a good direct signal available! 1:28
I have a WP-1X in my b50. Love it.
That cable though…. it would probably drive me crazy.
If you could get a wireless mic pack that might be a killer solution.
But the pickup works very well to my ears.
Speaking of microphones, ever thought about using a lav mic? Love your videos but it can be hard to hear speech. I would love a barrel mic for experimenting with clarinet as a rock instrument. Add some effects, a little distortion and rock out with my Bach out hehe
Yeah, I've been thinking that's needed. I use a shotgun mic and it just doesn't pick up the voice as well.
@@earspasm I mean on the plus side when you play your instrument , a room mic makes it sound more natural than direct micing :)
Hey thanks a lot for the review. A question; can you wireless that mic. ? since it requires phantom, do you know any wireless company offers phantom with their device?
Do you know if this also works on a german clarinet or does it change the sound too much ? Would be really nice if you have an answer. Gettings from Germany
Hello, it also works without problems with a German clarinet. We have thousands of pickups in German clarinets in use... :-)
Best regards from the Rumberger sound products team
Good to know thanks for the answer. Maybe im going to visit your Shop in Rosenheim. ^^
@@jannisri476 We would be very happy to have you visit us.... :-)
Have you tried viga music tools intramic ?
Do you try the intraMic ?
I want to go directly into my guitar pedal.... yes? Does it come with a 1/4 inch solution in addition to XLR? Looking to be a lot of $$$ for us in Canada with the 30% exchange, installation and shipping. Know of any Canadian retailers?
Just got to chapter 7... needs phantom power. Hmm...
I will drill with my hand drill. I get it by eye.
