A great video of a wonderful event, Glenn. My favourite things were: Seeing so many different kites instead of the usual festival dominated by PLK items. The brilliant "alien carrying kite-flier" which was done so well. The sky full of kites at the end - just lovely. And best of all, seeing lots of children at a festival actually flying kites and having fun instead of being made to just look.
It's a great festival, it's a great feeling to see so many kites together. I haven't participated in festivals for 2 years, I have experienced the festival with the video Great display
Billy, good to hear from you. We are holding our own. The forest fires and high temps are punishing as it goes to air quality, but the fires are not close by. I am displeased the AKA convention is cancelled, but I do have hope of getting to the East sometime. Best regards, Glenn
Glenn! Awesome video! I especially enjoyed seeing the diversity of the participants, e.g., the young ones who are apparently having fun being mentored into future kite designers. And the adult children enjoying their young ones is touching, esp. in these times. Loved the original kite trains & so many hand-made kites! Many recognizable kites & accessories as well as many I've never seen before. That's such a fantastic thing during kite festivals. I'm guessing the people were equally fantastic. I had a tie for my personal favorites: the large bol w/ the black widow spider at the center & the flier in the green alien's grip costume which made me backtrack this video 3 times before I figured it out. Ha! Ha! Amazing! Thank you for sharing this. Robby
Robby, the festival is an overload of things to see. My video is far from what was flown. It does make an arguement for getting a kite you have had an eye on before supplies run out. Kite making workshops are a good resource too. I'm glad you liked the video. I'm glad I could attend.
Wow. So much great stuff here. I don’t know where to start. The alien carrying the kiter was brilliant! And to think, I thought our Kites Over Lake Michigan was cool. Next weekend we will get to see some of this great stuff again.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate here too. All day yesterday, we had torrential rains, and more is expected tonite. Hopefully, it gets it all out of its system before next weekend.
Wow what a visual feast of kites. Where do I look ? Seemed like a mix of weather over the week but still everyone got to fly. Love that mass grouping at the end. Did I see one of my kiting hero's, Joel Scholz and his new Pterosaurs ? Fantastic he is still active in the kite community. Thanks for a great video Glenn. Trust you are both well after the long journey. No flying in NZ just yet as we remain in Lockdown. Coming down a level soon so maybe next week.
Mix of weather is exactly right, Carl. As such, the spectacle was largely muted. Scholz had three and did not intend to produce them since they were too labor intensive to make. He did fly them when he could. The Mass ascensions combined. The giant kites in the back with cellular kites up front. Our Stratopshere DDC got a special award.
Michael, when the wind is up, there is scarcely any wiggle room. So many people were anxious to get their big and new stuff up that it was almost solid, with a predictable number of train wrecks. Big kites just get bigger which makes it interesting when the wind turns.
Looks likes young and not so young had a great time great to see kite flyers ingenuity being shown in new designs and themes loved the BOL racing and Alien morphing into a Rev flyer
Colin, I agree with you. For a first year come back, the event went well. Personally, more blue sky would have been appreciated, but we get what we get, right?
@@PanyingPilot we certainly do get what we get but considering the effort kite flyers put in to provide a spectacle I don't think it is always what we deserve
Very nice video, great that it is slowly possible with you again with the kite festivals. Great kites at the festival, especially at the beginning, I liked the star chains and that older rod kites and newer kites were also seen ... Thanks for showing us ... 👍👍👍

Jim, I agree on every point! Thanks for the review.
Took me a few seconds to figure out how the alien carried the man. Haha!
@@CMChen He was a real show stopper, Chen. Good to hear from you.
@@CMChen Yes, CM, that was very clever. I've seen something a little similar before, which made it easier to work out.

KOM is cool, do doubt about it. I look forward to your report. WSIKF is certainly special. When the weather cooperates, its epic.

A lot of neat kites there Glenn. Love the big flowforms. Definitely one to attend.

Your name came up in conversation, Kupper. You are getting famous. We have to correspond about flying at Fanoe.
Great footage from the middle of the action Glenn, Superb array of kites.
It was the same at every point of the compass when conditions were good, Jonny. Appreciated,
GREAT 👍 you have a great eye for kites
Thanks for the compliment Abigail, flying always comes first, but we also like to do the video in a way that makes sense to us. Stay well!
Sharp!!! a different look at the WSIKF. I like the hands on approach.
Hi Jim, we both provided unique perspectives. Yours is appreciated!
Excellent video Glenn! Was just getting onto YT to reference your Fish Mouth video & this popped up!
Dano, glad you liked it. Timing is everything!
Thanks ! Hurrah ! Hurrah !
Thank you my friend, I am grateful to you.
Hallo mein Freund,
I would love to be at an event like that! Wow!
Save your pennies and plan ahead! Put it on the bucket list.
@@PanyingPilot but I use my pennies to buy kite stuff 😃😃😃
