I liked your lesson on audio editing. Your presentation is clear and slow enough for me to follow along. I'm a beginner with Studio One and have a questions I have not seen answered on other UA-cam videos I have viewed. That is, how do I listen to an already recorded track while I record on a new track so I have two recorded tracks I can mix the way I want. For instance, I want to listen to my recorded guitar while I record singing on the new track. Thanks if you can give me some tips. Carl
Just installed Studio 1. I've recorded an album in the past (several years ago) using "Logic" so I am familiar with the process but like I said, it's been a while and I used a different DAW so I thought I re-acquaint myself with some of the basics. I'm digging the tutor. He's proceeding through the tutorial at a good pace, not too slow, not to quick. And even though his has a thick west Texas accent I can understand everything he says, no problem. blah ha ha lol. Yes, I know, he's from down under. Hi! You made me buy S1 Pro lately. And I'm discovering more and more gems in this software. You have a lot of to cover in your videos! 1 of best things I see is dragging midi to audio track - and it renders the tracki - but keeping midi source with audio track - amazing! And all that library you can build putting your midi sequences - and it renders audio previews and keeps all plugins and settings - so you can drag'n'drop it anytime into your new project!

After 11 videos that say they are for beginners this is the only one that really gave me what I needed to know right away. My needs were very simple just 2 tracks - 1. piano 2. my vocal. Mission accomplished. Now I have to find a clear simple video on mixing and exporting to mp3. Any suggestions.

Liked and subscribed! A complete novice to this and I have been looking on a lot of videos for understandable Studio One instruction. All of them seem to assume the beginner knows so much and the cursor moves everywhere at lightning speed. So thanks for how you do this all around. Basically what I need is to create a track for my vocals as one track and then add a karaoke track, add effects as needed, mix and export. Would be soooo great if I could find that information!! :-)

I have tried recording with DAWs monitoring on, and even with low latency I do notice going out of the rythm, and that ended in me cutting the audio file to quantize and this sounds weird, but I have fixed this in three ways already and im going to share all three methods, from the cheapest to one that will can hurt wallet. Method one is to use a DI-box (Direct Injection Box) connected to a guitar amp with effects and audio interface, method 2 is to hook up a mixer in front of audio interface and send signal to your amp and effects for monitoring or use with headphones if you dont have amp. This second method brings some extra noise to the mix as the mixer have its own preamps, method 3 is to record through BOSS GT-100 or another amp modelling unit with built in audio interface, and most of these new amp modellers have audio interfaces and they have the option to record effect signal with the DI signal on seperate channels at the same time with no latency, and this is the best option but also most expensive one. DI box with cheap practice amp and some pedals is the cheapest option to get zero latency monitoring.
Your vidio was very helpful. I would like to know where to fing the shortcuts using the varios keys on the computer keyboard. I am using windows. In addition I have a Roland RD300-SX midi piano/keyboard. How do I set it up in the Sudio one software and where do I plug in to my Audio Interface. I have a Presonus Studio 68C. Does the keyboard record as and adiop tract or instrument track
I have a song file recorded, but it is divided, im trying to grid them on studio one, but the grip/snap only works on bars grid, but i need do snap it on the end do the audio file, but it seems not to be possible 😢

Hello Mike! I’m really enjoying your videos, they’ve been very helpful in navigating through unfamiliar territory with the Studio one which I’m very new to. I have a question I’m hoping that you can help me with. At 16:40 you’re talking about the Ampire presets. When I click on mine I’m only showing Default. A most helpful video! Thank you!! I don't quite get whether I should record in mono or stereo. I'm referring to one fingerstyle guitar track with two mics. Each mic in mono for recording? Stereo during mastering?
I followed the editing section directions exactly and can’t make it work. I watched and listened on my iPad as I attempted to follow the directions in real time. Several times. I tried to move the record head to the error, but I couldn’t make that happen. Also, did you say control C and then control V?
Thanks for the easy-to-understand tutorial. Any additional thoughts on recording guitar through a microphone instead of direct-in to the audio interface? Some folks prefer the natural sound of the real amp rather than a plug-in. I would like a lesson on that.
I’m trying to understand when you fade each of the joined tracks, why do you then drag the second track over the first track? Wouldn’t you want leave it so the first track fades and then the second tracks fades in?
I spent months chasing latency by restting buffer size and such like before I found out about the 'Zero latency butten' on the main output channel to the right of the mixer window it's a little squiggl below the fadder click it and bang, no more latency with buffer set to 512.

Just beginning with S1. If I record a track with effects and add another track, it is picking up the effects from the previously recorded tracks. Ruining the new track completely. How do I fix that?? Thanks for the videos!!

I got as far as recording some bass and I could see the wave form as I played but I could hear nothing in playback! Clearly a basic error - but what is it?
after mix down even after setting the start and end bar it still runs very long after the song is over, how do i cut that dead space out so its only what i want of it?
Watched your video, did the settings but my meter is peaked out no matter what I do and crackles, very frustrating, everyone makes it look so simple... have watched dozens of videos and no recording is happening yet, in Ableton, garage band and Studio one five ... what am i missing? I have a Presonus audio box usb, Studio one version 5 and a PC.
I've been a Sonar user for a long time and I have used Cakewalk by Bandlab. It's still great but sometimes it seems to be a bit outdated. So I looked into other DAWs. I got Studio One two weeks ago and I have to say that it's awesome. I'm still using Cakewalk but Studio One will probably become my first choice.

If I want affects added later in the song and not through out the whole thing, say on guitar, then can I do that during the editing or mixing process? I want guitar distortion going into the chorus but want the rest of the guitar to be clean.

Can someone help me? I installed studio one with the studio 24c I recently got but there are no different amp models in ampire, only mcm800 and 4x12 cabinet. What could I have missed? Would be very happy with any help.
I realize I'm coming at this backwards, but starting many years ago I used a hardware synth and sequencer (pc3x) and analog mixer (Yamaha aw16g) to record roughly 90 songs. I'd like to import the individual audio tracks in each song from my pc3x sequencer into the Studio One DAW and mix, edit them there, eliminating the Yamaha mixer/recorder. Have you done any tutorials to cover folks like me? Surely I'm not the only one...

I notice when I turn the volume down on my guitar track it affects the tone going into the effect. Like turning your volume knob down on your guitar to get a cleaner tone. Is there a way to turn the guitar track down with the same volume into the effect so it doesnt clean up?

I liked your lesson on audio editing. Your presentation is clear and slow enough for me to follow along. I'm a beginner with Studio One and have a questions I have not seen answered on other UA-cam videos I have viewed. That is, how do I listen to an already recorded track while I record on a new track so I have two recorded tracks I can mix the way I want. For instance, I want to listen to my recorded guitar while I record singing on the new track. Thanks if you can give me some tips. Carl
Just installed Studio 1. I've recorded an album in the past (several years ago) using "Logic" so I am familiar with the process but like I said, it's been a while and I used a different DAW so I thought I re-acquaint myself with some of the basics. I'm digging the tutor. He's proceeding through the tutorial at a good pace, not too slow, not to quick. And even though his has a thick west Texas accent I can understand everything he says, no problem. blah ha ha lol. Yes, I know, he's from down under. Good vid Creative Sauce, I've subscribed and will be watching more of your vids.

Hi! You made me buy S1 Pro lately. And I'm discovering more and more gems in this software. You have a lot of to cover in your videos! 1 of best things I see is dragging midi to audio track - and it renders the tracki - but keeping midi source with audio track - amazing! And all that library you can build putting your midi sequences - and it renders audio previews and keeps all plugins and settings - so you can drag'n'drop it anytime into your new project!

After 11 videos that say they are for beginners this is the only one that really gave me what I needed to know right away. My needs were very simple just 2 tracks - 1. piano 2. my vocal. Mission accomplished. Now I have to find a clear simple video on mixing and exporting to mp3. Any suggestions.

Liked and subscribed! A complete novice to this and I have been looking on a lot of videos for understandable Studio One instruction. All of them seem to assume the beginner knows so much and the cursor moves everywhere at lightning speed. So thanks for how you do this all around. Basically what I need is to create a track for my vocals as one track and then add a karaoke track, add effects as needed, mix and export. Would be soooo great if I could find that information!! :-)

Very good video, but just a little tip, if you want to repeat parts you just select it and click "d" on your keyboard and you can do so repeatetly...

Great beginning. Want to see how to add tracks
I have tried recording with DAWs monitoring on, and even with low latency I do notice going out of the rythm, and that ended in me cutting the audio file to quantize and this sounds weird, but I have fixed this in three ways already and im going to share all three methods, from the cheapest to one that will can hurt wallet. Method one is to use a DI-box (Direct Injection Box) connected to a guitar amp with effects and audio interface, method 2 is to hook up a mixer in front of audio interface and send signal to your amp and effects for monitoring or use with headphones if you dont have amp. This second method brings some extra noise to the mix as the mixer have its own preamps, method 3 is to record through BOSS GT-100 or another amp modelling unit with built in audio interface, and most of these new amp modellers have audio interfaces and they have the option to record effect signal with the DI signal on seperate channels at the same time with no latency, and this is the best option but also most expensive one. DI box with cheap practice amp and some pedals is the cheapest option to get zero latency monitoring.
So with the GT 100, you record it via USB

Does the keyboard record as and adiop tract or instrument track
I have a song file recorded, but it is divided, im trying to grid them on studio one, but the grip/snap only works on bars grid, but i need do snap it on the end do the audio file, but it seems not to be possible 😢

Hello Mike! I’m really enjoying your videos, they’ve been very helpful in navigating through unfamiliar territory with the Studio one which I’m very new to. I have a question I’m hoping that you can help me with. At 16:40 you’re talking about the Ampire presets. When I click on mine I’m only showing Default. How or where are you able to get all the presets in the preset folders including Charlie Sheen? Thank you for your help!

A most helpful video! Thank you!! I don't quite get whether I should record in mono or stereo. I'm referring to one fingerstyle guitar track with two mics. Each mic in mono for recording? Stereo during mastering?
I followed the editing section directions exactly and can’t make it work. I watched and listened on my iPad as I attempted to follow the directions in real time. Several times. I tried to move the record head to the error, but I couldn’t make that happen. Also, did you say control C and then control V?
Thanks for the easy-to-understand tutorial. Any additional thoughts on recording guitar through a microphone instead of direct-in to the audio interface? Some folks prefer the natural sound of the real amp rather than a plug-in. I would like a lesson on that.
I’m trying to understand when you fade each of the joined tracks, why do you then drag the second track over the first track? Wouldn’t you want leave it so the first track fades and then the second tracks fades in?
I spent months chasing latency by restting buffer size and such like before I found out about the 'Zero latency butten' on the main output channel to the right of the mixer window it's a little squiggl below the fadder click it and bang, no more latency with buffer set to 512.

Just beginning with S1. If I record a track with effects and add another track, it is picking up the effects from the previously recorded tracks. Ruining the new track completely. How do I fix that?? Thanks for the videos!!

I got as far as recording some bass and I could see the wave form as I played but I could hear nothing in playback! Clearly a basic error - but what is it?
after mix down even after setting the start and end bar it still runs very long after the song is over, how do i cut that dead space out so its only what i want of it?

I have a Presonus audio box usb, Studio one version 5 and a PC.
I've been a Sonar user for a long time and I have used Cakewalk by Bandlab. It's still great but sometimes it seems to be a bit outdated.
So I looked into other DAWs. I got Studio One two weeks ago and I have to say that it's awesome. I'm still using Cakewalk but Studio One
will probably become my first choice.
I found the transition reasonably painless, since the principles are the same. Good luck!

Thank for the very knowledgeable video. One question though. If I want affects added later in the song and not through out the whole thing, say on guitar, then can I do that during the editing or mixing process? I want guitar distortion going into the chorus but want the rest of the guitar to be clean.
How do u copy a track (the hook of a song) and place it again on another spot of the song? Like how do u copy and paste without erasing the track

Can someone help me? I installed studio one with the studio 24c I recently got but there are no different amp models in ampire, only mcm800 and 4x12 cabinet. What could I have missed? Would be very happy with any help.

I realize I'm coming at this backwards, but starting many years ago I used a hardware synth and sequencer (pc3x) and analog mixer (Yamaha aw16g) to record roughly 90 songs. I'd like to import the individual audio tracks in each song from my pc3x sequencer into the Studio One DAW and mix, edit them there, eliminating the Yamaha mixer/recorder. Have you done any tutorials to cover folks like me? Surely I'm not the only one...

Great video. One of the problems of the other instructional videos, is they MAKE IT TOO COMPLICATED. We all want to know how to operate the system, for recording our first song. I notice when I turn the volume down on my guitar track it affects the tone going into the effect. Like turning your volume knob down on your guitar to get a cleaner tone. Is there a way to turn the guitar track down with the same volume into the effect so it doesnt clean up?
