Where's China Beach and Tour of Duty? Completely overlooked shows
I've served in several hot zones, and I don't make a habit of watching war movies, but Bubba on the river's edge in Forrest Gump, while only one scene, was the biggest tear-jerker.
Yep... for sure.
"I wanna go home..."
Black Hawk Down had a bunch of dudes teary eyed in the theater.
I still haven't ever seen that movie. Is it worth watching?
@@Daddymac8686 yes. Especially with surround sound
@@Daddymac8686 I did, US Forces had got couple of deaths in this movie.
Albert’s death in All Quiet On The Western Front hit so hard, when Paul died I just cried.
I watched a little bit of that movie and what got me is when they called ceasefire they were in enemy territory like it was nothing. Just walking past each other.
When the medic Wade dies in Saving Private Ryan.. makes most of the deaths on this list look like a fun children’s party
The death of Gomer Pyle in Full Metal Jacket after being constantly bullied shocked me
A detail about Herny Blake's death. No one was told that's how his story would end. They handed Gary the sheet and told to go in and say what was on it. The reactions were one shot genuine
Wades death in saving private Ryan should have been on this.
James... Earn This. Earn It!”
Captain Miller. 😢🎉
Pretty much every death in Saving Private Ryan was devastating. Especially Private Mellish.
Then that coward Upham goes all tough on German prisoners who surrendered.
My sister and I saw Top Gun for the first time a couple of years ago with our mom. When Goose died I was shocked. It was so sad and just out of the blue 😭
Top Gun is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions!
Yeah watching Pete try and get to his best friend and then watching him float with him when the rescue chopper ultimately arrived was sad as hell.
Medic Wade's death hit MUCH harder than Miller's
In War Horse so many different characters and horses perished I cried so hard.
When his horse companion gets beaten down and has to be shot. Makes you hate the German army so much.
Henry Blake’s death was unlikely, unpredictable, and reactions of the cast were real as I have heard the cast on Leno or Carson or wherever, say that when Radar came in he was supposed to say other lines. No one except Radar and the director knew
Goose's death gets me every single time especially with that sad music accompanying the scene. Elias's death really upset me as well especially as he was a genuinely good guy.
You guys forgot China Beach and Tour of Duty. Cherry and Mutsadas death were so sad.
I would also add the implied deaths of the cast of Blackadder Goes Forth series finale.
It was an extraordinary end to a wonderful series. As they died going "over the top", only to fade away was gut wrenching. Then for the scene to come back into view as a field of poppies, to the sound of birds singing was an absolute gut punch. A stunningly effective way to pay respects to the fallen of WW1, without a single word needing to be said.
John Basilone from The Pacific
Well good job with this video I teared up multiple times watching it
Sergeant Elias's death in Platoon, completely broke my heart. Of all the deaths on this list, his & Gooses death were the hardest to bare.
Lance Cpl. Blake saving that pilot, while questionable, was still a heroic yet life-costing decision. Godspeed, Lance Cpl. Blake!
It makes it worse cause his brother is saved
Saving Private Ryan - German stabs the Soldier while Upham is on the stairwell listening.
The soldiers pleas still haunt me
Darn it Mojo, good list but ever so sad. Reminds me why we hate war so much and the warmongers who want to send our sons to the slaughter.
Can you do Saddest Deaths in Disaster Movies and TV Shows?
Whole death scene of Mellish in Saving Private Ryan; men in moment like this I really wish this world would not exist.
*GLARING OMISSION:* The death on Iwo Jima of *REAL* Medal of Honor recipient - marine sargeant John Basilone in the HBO mini-series 'The Pacific' (i.e. follow-up series to Band of Brothers)
All Quiet On The Western Front and Casualties Of War made me cry. One of the few movies that made me sad and cry.
Archie Hamilton death in Gallipoli.
Not putting jarhead or fury is wild
...Gallipoli (1981) ...Archy's last sprint from the trenches "...what are your legs? ...springs: steel springs" 😢
I have never seen 1917 but my older sister has but apparently Thomas Blake looks a whole lot like our brother so it was like traumatizing watching a person who looks a whole lot like her brother die
Clean’s death in Apocalypse Now should’ve been on this list.
Clay Spencer from SEAL Team was pretty heart wrenching. the dude was just trying to stop a veteran he was helping from committing suicide and a guard shows up at the wrong time and holds Clay at gun point and shoots him cause he thought Clay was gonna raise the gun he took from the veteran and aim it at the guard. thats also a death that shouldnt have happened but Max Theriot was getting ready to do another show called Fire Country
These were good scenes but i wish you'd also included the final scene of the German movie from 1992 called 'Stalingrad'!
What about the death in that Michael j. Fox movie with Sean Penn where that young girl is brutally rapes and then she's finally killed. I mean I feel that was one of the most shocking deaths in history of Cinema because you know she didn't ask for that life to be that way. And you know that was just so disturbing to watch and that was the only movie that I've ever known that will ever have. Probably Michael j. Fox with the rape scene in it even though he didn't do the scene. Sean Penn did but still I forget what the movies called but you know I'm talking about but it's a very brutal movie. I mean it is wow I'm not going to spell to spoil it. It would be the understatement. You just have to see it to believe it. Cuz yeah but I feel her dying one of the saddest death in war movies and I can't believe you left it off the list. That should have been number one
No offense, but how this video doesn't specifically bring up the death of Laurence Fishburne's Clean character in "Apocalypse Now"?
Every death in Apocalypse Now, especially Tyrone 'Clean' Miller.
The end of Waltz with Bashir was shocking!
No mention of Lt Doug Roberts off screen death in the classic WW2 movie Mister Roberts? I’ve watched the movie at least 30 times over the past 50 years, & it still shakes me up when Ensign Pulver says those 4 words: Mister Roberts is dead.
Independence Day - 1st Lady death
The death of Thi Oanh (played by Thuy Thu Le) in Casualties of War (1989) should definitely be on this list.
In the '84 version of Red Dawn, the deaths of Powers Boothe(Andy) and Charlie Sheen(Matt) always hurt.
Lon Survivor and save private ryan got me
Sergeant Hietanen in Finnish movie The Unknown Soldier (Louhimies version). First he lost his eyes while trying to save rookie and then ruzzians attacks the ambulance full of wounded and takes fire and then got shot while trying help others with out sight. 😢
Sgt Elias death pose in Platoon's movie poster is on the of the most iconic death pose in movie fandom. It serve as a guide to how characters should die when shot in the back and has been referenced or parodied many time in many other settings especially in football when player wanna get dramatic when being fouled from the back
I have that poster framed in my living room. It's such a beautiful shot even though it's incredibly sad.
Did you hear of the blooper with that scene?
Desmond Doss was from Lynchburg, VA which is 45 minutes north from me
54 Massachusetts. The movie Glory.
give'em hell 54!
@@jc2367 My homie!
i forget the name of the movie, but that one movie where the father has the son pretend everything is a game and ends up dying but when his son his rescued, he thinks they won the game.
I reckon you're thinking of Life is Beautiful, a great movie. That ending was truly sad
These were great BUT what about Josh Hartnett in Pearl Harbor? If you've not seen that scene, you gotta! It's beautifully heartbreaking😢
When the AT-ST hit those two ewoks and buddy tries to wake the other one up.
Goose’s death was emotional and shock
🏆🥇
@@BlackHatCinephile your comments are pointless spam and it's sad that you don't get it
So full metal jacket or apocalypse now doesn't count
I'm not much of a war movie buff, but the saddest death I know in a war movie (I guess it's more of a boot camp than war) is Vincent D'Onofrio's character in Full Metal Jacket.
You should include Archie's death in the final scene of Gallipoli (1981).
Fives (Arc Trooper), Tech (Clone Force 99), & Gregor (Clone Commando)
They Each Died In “Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Season 6/Lost Missions), Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Season 2), & Star Wars: Rebels (Season 4)”
Good Soldiers, Follow Orders :,-( !!!!
Am I the only one who got this wrapped in an ad for a war-based video game?
Richard Harris - The wild Geese tops it all for me
Katsumoto's death at the last battle, "Last Samurai"
You forgot Setsuko from Grave of the Fireflies (since, despite being a civilian girl in WWII Japan, she died so tragically)
A sad one for me was Wade's death in Saving private Ryan 🥺.
You seriously didn't include Irwin Wade from Saving Private Ryan? Thanks for screwing up another list WatchMojo
I still can’t watch the war scenes of Samuel and Tristin in ‘Legends of the Fall.’
I wish I’d never watched ‘The Green Berets’ with John Wayne.
I spent most of Saving Private Ryan crying. Basically from five minutes into the movie and on and off the rest of the very long movie I had tears streaming down my face or in my eyes
"Saving Private Ryan" has that effect on many of us. What particular moments resonated with you the most?
@@WatchMojo I don’t remember specific moments too too well. It’s been over a year since I saw it. But Captain Miller’s death, the opening scene where a huge amount of people die, the ending when Private Ryan is finally safe but still has to grieve the loss of his brothers and friends…The whole movie really
@@WatchMojo MOJO make a family guy video if you want to
I've not seen Homeland and All Quiet On The Western Front. I think with M.A.S.H, I saw the first two series.
Where's the "Top 20 Best Supervillain Teams" video?! #WatchMojo
Henry from M*A*S*H should be top 3 and John H. miller #2
Lieutenant Jack Geoghan in "We Were Soldiers."
What a bunch of sad deaths
What about Tyrone woods and Glenn Doherty in 13 hours 😢
Bubba forest gump
William Wallace s' death is the saddest in the movie Braveheart after its John h. Miller
👍🏾🔥🔥🔥
the ending of Stalingrad (1993)..
Von Ryan's express frank Sinatra operation day break the two Czech resistance fighters and brave heart just to name a few
Clearly this list is in no particular order.
What about Fury?
VON RYANS EXPRESS? Anyone
I think you forgot Hitler in the basterds
Ad read for a war game was.... not good, after talking about the horror of war
Can you please do a top 10 planet of the apes moments from the new franchise?

He'll no stop monkeying around foo
Stanley mellish?
Where are Toye and Guarnere from Band of Brothers!
Thankfully the survived their wounds. You can see Guarnere during the interviews on BoB.
They had only lost their legs and they still were laughing
Yeah, but they were barely able to move and they were losing so much blood. I read somewhere that Toye died later from his injuries so I would have assumed Guarnere did too. Most of the aftermath of Episode 7 I tuned out because I was heartbroken by their deaths, as well as Muck, Penkala and the man who accidentally killed himself with the Luger.
@@CulannBurke man, Guarnere literally appears in interviews in the beginning of each episode, at the age of 78, how could you think that he had died. Unless you didn't finish the show, in the ending speech of veterans their names are revealed, Bill is one of them. If you didn't finish yet, make sure to do it, this last speech is heartbreaking
@@CulannBurke Hoobler got killed with Luger by accident
Red Tails ans that one brad pitt movie 🎥
Close should have won Best International Feature last year over All Quiet on The Western Front
