    The art design for the new show is cool but fans have grown tired of teenage HS Spider-Man and clearly pining for 70’s, 80’s, and early 90’s Spider-Man

      I agree I would love to see a more mature Peter one married to MJ and going through life they way he did during 80s era honestly college age Peter would also be great!

    1:03 I assumed that because X-Men 97 is set in 1997, while the Spider-Man the Animated Series ended in 1998 with the arc where the Mary Jane that came back was a clone of Mary Jane, I had a theory where X-Men 97 takes place during the 4th & 5th seasons STAS and that the Mary Jane that shows up in X-Men 97 was the Clone, and that Spider-Man 98 will actually have Spidey save Mary Jane in 1998.
    It’s a good theory, but since the team behind X-Men 97 states that 94 Spidey saved Mary Jane off screen. I practically just toss the theory to the garbage can.

      If they do reboot the show and bring back John Semper your theory could still hold water!

    What I want is avengers earths mightiest heroes season 3. Do u think that’s a possibility ? Also how about Spider-Man unlimited ? That ended on a huge huge cliff hanger as well and I feel like that’s a Spider-Man show that different enough from freshman year, tas, and spectacular.

    • @HeroCourseDropOut
      @HeroCourseDropOut  Місяць тому +3

      Oh man unlimited was a fun one a reboot of that could be neat but I feel like they wouldn't be able to nail down that grittier art style. EMH would be an easy reboot for them most of the OG is still sctive.

      I really didn’t like Spider-Man Unlimited (the show not the game). But since that ended on a cliffhanger, it would make sense for the show to continue… if Marvel’s up for it.

    The only real rebuttal I have is that everyone's favorite wall-crawling menace actually got two shows at the same time before with Spider-Man 1981 and Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends but since the former show only got one season (the latter got three) I don't think Disney greenlighting multiple shows about a single character even one as popular as Spider-Man is likely. I know Stuart Green will be sad when it's clear this will never happen but we all will have to accept the truth eventually.

    • @HeroCourseDropOut
      @HeroCourseDropOut  Місяць тому +3

      I know DC used to have this HARD rule that in order to avoid confusion they wouldn't let 2 different versions of a character exist its the reason it took like 3 seasons of THE BATMAN before they finally added Robin to that show since Robin was appearing in Teen Titans during that period he was blocked. I sometimes think Marvel has a similar rule but its slightly altered I think they want all portrayals of spider-man to somewhat stay in line with the MCU version of the character.

      @@HeroCourseDropOut I would actually prefer we get a revival of Spectacular than a revival of the 90s series, don't get me wrong I love both (I remember literally cheering so hard when I saw Peter found MJ that my parents asked me what was going on). Still, I am biased towards Spectacular Spider-Man because it was one of the things that cemented Spider-Man as my favorite superhero and was the first Spider-Man I watched from beginning to end. Furthermore, It only got 2 seasons as opposed to the '90s five. Even though I do think a revival of the '90s series is more likely because it's more iconic a revival of that series will probably do better in terms of ratings, and no one likes this fact but show business is both show and business so if a revival is greenlighted it's more likely they're going to greenlight a show that will do better. Finally, I know that I'm gonna sound like a pessimist. Still, despite the fact that Spider-Man is my favorite superhero I don't have that much faith in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. I would be saying the same thing if Spider-Man 97 or season 3 of Spectacular Spider-Man was greenlighted, for two reasons and that's Disney doesn't have the best track record with Spider-Man shows, because so far they've made three (Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Spidey and his Amazing Friends). They have yet to make a good one. While X-Men 97 was amazing it's only one of two Disney+ shows that I've loved the only other one being Andor (which was one of only two Disney Star Wars things I liked the other one being the Jedi: Fallen Order Games), don't get me wrong there has been a fair amount that I've liked (like Loki, and the Mandalorian), but the batting average for Disney+ certainly isn't good. Now I'm not a part of the Fandom Menace and I don't ever want to be associated with those crazies but that doesn't change the fact that anything that Disney puts out doesn't have my confidence. But hey if Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man turns out to be good at least we can all make the joke "Disney has finally made a good Spider-Man show and it only took them 15 years to do so, but hey fourths times the charm." On a separate note, what are your thoughts on the upcoming Spider-Man Noir, and Silk series?

    • @HeroCourseDropOut
      @HeroCourseDropOut  29 днів тому

      if i had my choice at reboot, im going spectacular as well, from a story telling standpoint alone it was the best spider-man show, but you're right if a revival is going to come it's going to be Spider-man TAS. i get your point about not trusting disney ultimate spider-man was a hard show to get behind and so was the last avengers show, Disney gave Man of Action too much authority and IMO man of action works best when they are creating their own work like ben 10 and generator rex. they really didnt know where to take spider-man it felt like family guy for kids when they were in charge. and spider-man 2017 was just ugly to look at. now as far as Sony's TV verse with SILK and Noir, this is where i'm acutally REALLY nervous sony's stand alones have bee really bad lately but i do love nicholas cage so while i am nervous i will be open minded.

We'll get a confirmation within the episode hes doing alright and found MJ as well as still the same Spidey we grew up with. One way they could bring back Spectacular Spider-Man is making it into a movie unless Marvel and Sony decide to work together. Also, I wouldn’t mind if Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man aired alongside the 90s series or Spectacular since they were both Spider-Man shows in the 80s that aired at the same time.

    I’d prefer to get new things than to just live in the past. I have never watched any of these reboots/revivals of TV shows. Even when they were based on shows I watched. I enjoyed the original series in their time. And accepted that they ended, I grew up, and moved on. I may still revisit the original series on occasion, but trying to revive it just feels like it will always pale in comparison to the original. It always feels weird to see these characters back and aged since they looked different when I last saw them. When it comes to new shows, that previous frame of reference doesn’t exist so I’m not going to make any comparisons and I’m more likely to enjoy it.

    So basically the ending to 90s Spider-Man is pretty much like how Teen Titans (2003) ended. It's not really a "cliffhanger" but rather just an open ended conclusion leaving the show's ending to be up for your interpretation. We already know that Spider-Man saved Mary Jane. We already know that the Teen Titans will continue to fight crime and protect their city. It's redundant to actually show what happens afterwards. Teen Titans vs Teen Titans Go! was really just a one-off thing that can act as it's own standalone story (despite bringing up some things from the past. They were just eye candy really. I still pretty much enjoyed it.)
    This is where I feel a lot of people need to put aside their childish nostalgia habits and actually appreciate the artistry of good storytelling and how to write a stellar ending. Yes, they could've done more seasons but how they chose to end the story can still pass for a definitive ending regardless. People (especially fanboys) need to grow the F*** up!
    However, I think there can still be room to show a scene in Spider-verse 3 of the 90s Spider-Man reuniting with her Mary Jane. I couldn't recall seeing the 90s cartoon anywhere in the second movie.

      This is my Favorite comment. This is litterally why this video got made. Spider-man TAS had thought behind that finale, I mean Spider-man met his creator. And the parallel to teen titans chef's kiss! The problem used to be nostalgia blinded us to the new but now that xmen 97 exists and was damn good thatbgoing to make shows like friendly neighborhood a harder sell to an audience that just wants a Spider-man 97

      I'm just saying as someone who didn't grow up watching any of the superhero cartoons from the 90s or early 2000s. The only superhero cartoons I ever saw growing up were Teen Titans, the 2003 TMNT, and Wordgirl. Other than that, I'm not much of a huge comic book reader, and I always felt that you didn't really need to be one in order to enjoy other superhero media. So why now are nerds all of a sudden gatekeeping outsiders and general audiences from engaging in the media they want to consume? That doesn't seem right to me. I saw the Blockbuster Busters retrospective on the 90s MAU and from that, I've learned that the 90s animated version of Secret Wars wasn't really that good. The 90s Hulk and Ironman cartoons aren't really that interesting to me either. Unlike DC, Marvel on the small screen have always struggled to maintain a strong run of shows which is why they always seem to have reboots every couple of decades. This may not seem much of a bad thing for some as TMNT also has a similar thing of changing every couple of years, but these two IPs never seem to have a sense of definitiveness in the same way the DCAU has.
      Hell, even some TMNT fans have similar aggressions towards something like the 2003 series for misrepresenting the 80s Turtles in the 2003 show's finale and vise versa for the thinking the 2012 series for being more appreciated of the 80s Turtles is Nickelodeon ignoring the existence of the 2003 series.
      In my opinion, X-Men '97 should remain as its own thing and not bother trying to do the same for other shows of that bygone era. It's too late to do a 90s animated style show for Captain America and Marvel should really just learn to move on. And I think the same we must do for Spectacular Spider-Man. I already gave up on the continuation of that show a long time ago. There are better things to look forward too. My personal preference are the movie versions of these characters because I have a busy life and I find it a lot quicker and simpler to digest than having to binge an episodic run of events like a TV show or comic book run. But that's just me.
