The Perfect Animated Iron Man

- Avengers Earths Mightest Heroes has one of the best versions of Iron Man in all of marvel despite the fact his charater exhibits very little growth. The growth he does have is meaningful and fun to watch. He does suffer a little from it being an avengers show and not an Iron Man show, but none the less he's almost perfect.

They had no right to Draw Janet so fine
That one episode of emh had me like😳
Definitely Kickstarted alot of pubertys
Indeed
Didnt realize how much Wasp in this show coded my taste in women lmao

What i mostly love is you can tell Tony is battling his alcohol addiction only through his appearance. In a lot of episodes he has sunken eye bags, messy hair and looks a bit more pale than usual, visually hinting that he is severely hungover or intoxicated. Obviously its a kids show so they couldn't show him drinking, but this was a great workaround. Hes trying to hide his addiction from his teammates but you can see it clear as day that hes been on the bottle.
Wow. This is something I never factored in but it's made the show so much better. There have been conscious efforts in the show to make Tony look unwell at certain points.
@@joshjones9749 this guy is overthinking it do not take this as being the actual stage
@user-pm6nx1fs2w I'd have to watch again but what he's saying Lines up with what I remember.
@@joshjones9749 I just told you this guy is overthinking it
@user-pm6nx1fs2w Ok fine lol that's your opinion. I'll make my own judgment if that's alright...damn 🤣
My favorite moment of Iron Man on this show HAS TO BE during the Ultron Arc, ultron ruins his armor & left him "powerless"
What does he do?
Dust off the Mark 1 & then use it to kick Ultron's Butt
I even love how he's able to defeat most of his finest suits uisng an old rust bucket, because HE CREATED THEM & HE NOWS HOW TO DESTROY THEM
MY FAVORITE ASPECT OF THIS TAKE OF IRON MAN was how he is always desesperate to DO THE RIGHT THING, How he always tries to be a better person after all the bad things he did in the past, & that thing is used as both a virtue & a flaw
To the point everytime he & the Avengers fail he gets mad & furious(like in the episodes of Powerless & Who do you trust? )
He desperate to prove hes made the change his good intentions often lead down the road to misery.
@Battle-Brother-Ixaris like how he unintentionally led Simon Williams to become Wonder Man.
You can tell they took heavy inspiration from MCU Iron Man even before the character would go on his saga-long character arc, and that's not a bad thing since both this show's take and RDJ's Iron Man are some of my favourite adaptations of Tony Stark/Iron Man. I also think the show Iron Man: Armoured Adventures had a pretty underrated take on Iron Man in my opinion too
Teenage Iron Man all the way!
I love armored adventures, so underrated
Dude armored adventures was freakin great! I miss that show
Armoured Adventures really made the concept of a young Tony Stark work like a charm. The suits were also badass in that show
Armored Adventures deserves more recognition than it gets
EMH is my ideal Marvel Universe.
Same
he and robert downey jr mastered it
MCU iron man sucks 😂
That isn't even Iron Man, is just an RDJ self insert(like 90% of the mcu cast)
@@ArcTrooperRod-269no. Actually not. You're confusing that would just the pathetic excuse for comedy the MCU has become now
@@user-pm6nx1fs2w Sadly, nowadays the MCU is hit and miss.
That's just Eric Loomis' voice
@@user-pm6nx1fs2w ¿Now? Are Iron Man 3, Thor 2 & 3, Age of Ultron & the Iron Boy Trilogy recent movies?
Avengers EMH really did every marvel hero and villain justice! When I was younger I always felt this Tony stark was a jerk and was my least favorite avenger. But as I got older and watched the Robert Downey Jr movies I realized that was apart of his character but that he was always struggling to be better and improve on his own way.
Except the ones that had very small cameos, like Mandrill and Dane
@@user-pm6nx1fs2w not every character can have the spotlight, but they were all memorable and me look up the characters in the comics
@AndreNitroX dude you f****** just contradicted yourself. Talking about all the Marvel heroes and villains were done Justice, yet when I bring up those that weren't, you're going to turn in the other direction
My favorite Ironman episode of the series is when Tony bought Wonderman company and gets into a argument with Hank about it.
When we think Wonderman dies we find out in reality Tony only bought his company because he wanted to work for him not seeing the consequences of his actions its really interesting.
I loved when iron man was forced to accept Doctor dooms help, accepting that he can’t always be the man to save the day
@@AndreNitroXDude you are seriously taking that out of context. He wasn't exactly forced to, he was snarking at Doom cuz he thought that Victor couldn't do this s*** alone because of the kind of guy he is. And that was a Skrull trap anyway
@@user-pm6nx1fs2wDoom wasn’t the trap, otherwise the device he gave Tony wouldn’t have worked
I believe the skrull queen said they uploaded a virus, the episode was just structured in a way it seemed like it came from Doom
To be honest it confused me too until I really thought about it
@flash-fire117 I can't tell who's Dumber: you [r the people likin your s***. Skrull impersonated Victor so is to get Anthony to put the thing into his armor which upload the virus into it
@@user-pm6nx1fs2w explain why the device to reveal the skrulls worked if Doom was a skrull
why hand Tony the means of their defeat
I'm sure I'm biased because this show was what introduced me to the Avengers, but all of these characters are my preferred characterizations. I thought the MCU did well overall, but this show is perfection. I need to rewatch this show again soon.
Valid point.
It's not just bias. The MCU did great with some characters and dropped the ball with others. EMH is just really well done in general. It's unfortunate that they cancelled it so soon only to replace it with an inferior series.
@@MrDj232Just because Disney wanted Brand Synergy because of the MCU being very popular during that time and would dominate the Movie industry for a nearly 10 years
I'm Hoping for it's resurrection I mean come on you had to live under the rock to know about the successful revival of x men 97 and EMH could easily return as well
Let's just be real, you're going to hear "the best adaptation of x character" very often with the main cast of this show. Its just law. Like gravity, spider man self narrating and super man's curly hair
For a show with only 2 seasons, they manage to do a lot of good character development and stories for a lot of the cast
I think slow incremental character growth works better with Iron Man considering his ego is a big part of his character and it wouldn’t make sense for him to change a bunch all at once with that character trait
26:26 there is also the matter of Tony not really believing Thor comes from a mythological realm, hence the "imaginary land" crack.
I need to point out- the destruction of the Norn Stones was NOT part of Loki's plan, as evidenced by the conversation Thor has with Loki when the former returns to Asgard during the next episode.
However, the destruction of the stones isn't a big deal as far as Loki's concerned, so it doesn't matter too much.
Also, Tony did NOT get sent to Asgard when he destroys the Norn Stone in his vicinity. As the Dwarf King explains, he's actually in Nidavellir.
Damn I was going for mistake free, thank you for pointing this out.
Would you ever talk about Iron Man: Armoured Adventures?
I really liked that show because it wasn't the usual "Take this guy who's supposed to become a superhero when he's an adult and make it so it happens while he's still a kid or teenager and have him facing all the villains he shouldn't be until later on for good reasons" thing. It's just "What if this stuff happened to him while he was younger?" Ya know?
Not like Smallville or definitely Gotham
@user-pm6nx1fs2w more importantly. The fact he has a better father figure compared to his original depictions
@@corvo2696 that is in no way more important
@@user-pm6nx1fs2wit is though, his father is absent or straight up dead on most depictions and even before that he neglected him and we’ve seen the side effects of that.
It’s the opposite in that show though from what I remember and how Howard behaved
@@yxrackman2397 read my comment. It literally isn't
As always your videos are the perfect reminders as to what the earth's mightiest heroes stand for. If I could ever make a request, could you do an analysis of Tony's character in Iron Man: Armored Adventures because that show never really got the recognition it deserved.
You’re so, undeniably, beautifully, incredibly based for that request. IMAA was amazing, I was so lucky to grow up with that show
Your episodes got me to rewatch this show. I forgot how epic it was, really takes me back and it's such a shame it was cancelled when it was. With X-Men 97 coming back, really hope this show could get some kind of revival
Shout out to the guy constantly asking for a Wasp Video he's a real one 😂
Earths mightiest heroes is incredibly but I do think Armored Adventures is very close.

One thing that always bothered me about not only this but alot of animated adaptations of Iron Man around this time is that they all try to an impressive of the RDJ Iron Man. Its why I like Matthew Mercer's voice for Iron Man because he gives his own unique voice for the character.
Funny thing about that...Eric Loomis wasn't doing an RDJ impression. He actually sounds like that.
@smashmaster521 really, I didn't know that thanks for letting me know
@@smashmaster521 That’s interesting, wow, he fits so well as Iron Man
@@Lezminfurtunately, he's voice have changed & become deeper with the years & now he really doesn't sounds right to the character, so everytime he voices Tony in a marvel project his voice sounds pretty forced & unnatural
FUNNY how Matt Mercer Iron Man's voice & Marc Worden's Iron Man voices SOUND EXACTLY THE SAMEA
Is both Amazing & Frightening
Is like both Jeff Bridges & Fred Tatasciore voicing Flynn & Clu ik TRON
26:17 T'challa low key the MVP of this team. Ninja skills, technology, magic, a constantly level head- my man's got it all.
He is the MVP
T'challa here is the reason why I knew Black Panther was gonna be cool before it came out. What he lacks in strength and toughness like other Avengers, he makes up for it with finesse and wisdom, which for me personally is more attainable than strength and toughness, so he's a role model.
I like the crimson dynamos design
Look up Kevin Dewitt Marvel

Funny how recency bias has ppl calling X-Men 97 the best animated show, when in reality EMH is the best
I don’t know as a certified biased X-Men fan I gotta go with 97 🤷🏾♂️
I think EMH and the DCAU of the early 90s are on par. I haven’t seen X-Men 97 yet but have high hopes.
Personally I would go with spectacular Spiderman
JL(U) still the best
Avengers EMH was the last best Marvel animated show and Ultimate Spider-Man was the last tolerable.
X-Men 97 is just a 50/50 continuation of the original 90s X-Men cartoon. The people are both right and wrong actually
i could probably talk about the lyrics of the theme intro and them matching the characters "tormented and upset" as it shows hulk "lost from when we wake" showing captain america
"No way to go back" showing thor "im standing on my own" showing iron man.
Loved this version of iron man
I loved this adaptation of iron man so much.
Honestly, my favorite Iron Man adaptation ever is the 90's cartoon version. But my second favorite Iron Man adaptation is EMH. Yes, I like these two versions more than RDJ.
Season 2 was absolutely amazing because the voice actor for Iron Man, who was the main character in the Airplane comedies, really got to show off his acting chops
@@user-pm6nx1fs2w It was. That season is why he's, my favorite. I also liked his guest appearances in Spider-Man and Hulk. He sounded and acted more like how Tony Stark did in the 60's, so that's how I think Tony Stark should sound.
This man really puts in all the work and effort. Props to you :)
I discovered your channel via my recommended tab and tapped on it out of curiosity. I haven’t regretted it and I really love your videos!
“Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was an excellent depiction of the Avengers.” Said to no one’s surprise.
One of my favorite scenes is towards the end of season 1 when Iron Man is alone in the dwarven realm and gets attacked by an ogre (I think). His armor has been destroyed, so he uses the arc reactor in his heart to give what he believes will be his final blast to defeat the enemy. He would have died if the dwarves weren't smart enough to replace the cover for the arc reactor, and he just does it without a thought.
ive watched this and the cap video and i gotta say from what ive seen damn good job cant wait to see what more you have in store.
Really enjoyed this video and RDJ performance in the MCU has a major influence on the character not just in animation but in the comics as well. I loved watching this series when it first aired and still go back and watch some episodes. You did excellent of going over this version of Iron Man and explaining how he evolved character wise throughout EMH's run.
This is how most superhero teams such as Justice League and Avengers should begin in live action
You should talk about Iron Man Armored Adventures
That's the only superhero show I like where the characters are de-aged and they encounter & battle all the people that should not until they are fully grown up for very good reasons.
This show is very much more just "What if he was younger when this happened." It didn't do like Smallville and definitely not Gotham
Fuck yeah, new video! I love your takes on this show, and while I may not see it your way, I never disagree.
You’re articulate, knowledgeable, you draw a line between fact and opinion (which is very important because these videos are 85 opinion and analysis) and you make it very clear that you are only articulating your opinions and you don’t expect people to agree with you, nor are you trying to make people agree.
These videos really feel like open letters, encouraging discourse and exchanging ideas, and I hope you get recognized and really really blow up.
I’m glad this is getting across to people it was the whole idea behind my channel to have others be critical of the media they consume, I’m glad you enjoyed it

Hey man, keep up the great work! Your videos give me something to focus on at work so I can get through those rough internship shifts. Thank you for making such great content!
Wasp video sounds good
Another great video.
shiiit if i was tony during every kang encounter i'd be scanning his tech and scavenging any pieces that hulk manages to break and doing my utmost to learn it. sure it might be advanced at first but its all based on existing scientific principals and later concepts and reverse engineer it and modify it to his needs/ purposes. People have been reverse engineering for years and with his knowhow and genuine genius plus he could implement a failsafe that ( incase of ) makes it destroy itself so it never falls into anyone else's hands and doesnt cause kang to further advance beyond what he already has access too.

Why does bro look like a supervillain in this shot.
Great job on the video
90s Iron man is just so 90s, and then some how doing a Mid-Season Shark Jump became even more 90s; somehow
Keep up the greatwork btw and love these vids and all of your vids in general but wanted to say this too.
The arc I loved a lot in this shows run was the powerless moment when Hawkeye and Cap ,Thor and Ironman fight an enemy that strips them of there "hero identity and powers." (Cap,Thor,Ironman) all powers were taken away and they had to learn a lesson on how to be more mindful of the non enhanced heroes and show it's okay to be normal and no matter what you can still be a hero.

Marvel: Earth's Mightiest Heroes was the VERY LAST bastion of the beloved, traditional and original characters before "Current" disney ruined them.
You could tell from watching this series that the creators loved their job and paid respect to the original comic creators and content.
Heck, that even got it right that Hendry Pimm WAS Ultron's creator and far better than his crybaby of a LIVE counter part.
Nah I wouldn’t say Disney “ruined” the characters.
Like realistically EMH is the example of great Marvel cartoons prior to transitioning to the synergy branding of the MCU.
Also don’t get the complaint you are pulling up with MCU Hank Pym. Like I agree that undermining his impact to the Avengers lore suck by not having him being Ultron creator, but the movies did perfectly capture the character’s comic personality of bi-polar mentality and rather estranged eelationship towards people close to him.
Honestly i feel its better to appreciate both version rather than make a competition out of both. After all both takes inspirations from one another in its depiction of charactwra
You wanna know something else that's great about this show, the avengers DON'T antagonistically hold Tony's past over his head like they do in the MCU.
26:06 k but T'chala is such a lad, he's just chillin' all the time 😂

@@sageoverheaven I feel the same, even at his most serious moments it doesn’t feel as sincere but that’s just me
@@comicalcosmonaut959 I think he hit his serious scenes hard pre-endgame (really peaked in Civil War). But the quips did gradually become a part of his personality that I found a tad overpowering.

Most of the issues come from Tony's ego thinking he's the smartest person in the room, which many times he's not. Tony's main response is 99% of the time to attack and escalate the issue.
