You are right, they are designed to rust. I am basically just taking off that layer of rust to bring back the original clean finish. As long as you don't seal the club with any finish it will rust again over time. I left the club face rusty to keep the added spin feature the rust gives you and the club performs just like it would being all rusty. I actually have this club in my bag :)
Actually I’d put that in my bag. He maintained the integrity of the face and this club will get a chance to regain a normal patina, rather than the salt water bath that these guys are giving these Clubs so they can post a rusty club for sale. I’m 65 and been around golf since I was 8. Good luck,
Thank you Daniel! I am really happy with the performance too, maybe it doesn't compete with a new SM8 wedge for 180$ but that's not the goal here. I am a hcp 8 and it works for me, thought people would enjoy a cheaper alternative to expensive wedges.
atleast you kept the rusty face for spin, i saw one vid where the guy removed that too and ruined the wedge lol id play yours def
What type of paint did u use ?
Clubs that have an oil-can finish are designed to rust. You're actually destroying the club by removing the rust.

Anyone have any luck finding replacement oil can shaft stickers?

Would had been nice to redo the oil quenching!
That's a great idea!! Maybe on the next wedge it's time for some oil quenching :)
But you’ve taken off the oil can finish ! This is not a restoration it’s sacrilege. You want a polished finish don’t buy the oil can version
If you are new to golf, please do not do this. He 100% ruined the purpose of an Oil - Can finished club. 🤦🏻♂️
