I watched this video the day it was released and then today for the second time. I understand a bit more now but I am still confused. :-) I completed my first top down raglan sweater a week ago and for the German short rows in the round (combined with raglan increases) I watched somebody else's tutorial. In short, your method is completely different from anything I have seen so far (I watched several different tutorials as I am really a beginner knitter) - all the tutorials I have seen work the GSRs (short for German Short Rows) - if I use a clock dial for illustration - somewhere from 4 or 5 o'clock to somewhere between 7 and 8 o'clock, going in concentric rounds, with most "fabric" added on the back part. Your method is entirely different but you have the most beautiful (and the most round) neckline I have seen. My neckline turned a bit more squarish (especially at the front) than I would have liked, but as I said, it was my first raglan (and in general, my first work in the round) ever. I also like how you knit the purl stitches around when done with the ribbing, that is so neat!\ I guess I will have to try your method the next time but I will not use the yarn overs - I find them a bit too confusing when combined with the increases and the GSRs - maybe when I am bit more advanced. I believe you mentioned that the most GSRs are done at the front - but why? That part I don't understand. Also, this is the first time when I see the front part has more stitches then the back, I guess this is to make up for the "deeper" neckline at the front? Thank you for this tutorial - I hope I will make it to your level one day. 🙂 I watched your orange kiddie jumper tutorial when working on my raglan to learn how to do work the sleeve decreases.

Short rows are different in this jumper, I used to do German before, but learned this one recently and found it very nice. In kid's jumper I used German ones. Neck line is the most confusing part of top down raglan, but when you understand and practice, all becomes very clear. I would recommend you just practice for the sake of learning. Try to make couple of little samples of just neck, you can always unravel them. Watch both videos with attention and practice, I'm sure you'll get there!
