Step 1.
Cover the gas tank and front fender.
Step 2. No need to pull the radio or unplug so many wires. Simply remove two bolts from each side of fairing brackets and rock faring forward to access handlebar bracket cover bolts.
Otherwise, great video guys. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the tutorial I just ordered 14 inch bars, cables, and wire extensions for my FLHT not as hard as I pictured it and it saves me a grand from having Harley install them
You guys are great. Took the anxiety factor way down. Seems like patience is the key to getting this done correctly. Great video.
Steve OConnor thank you yes it does take patience. But its not bad i think the worse part is just trying not to scratch anything lol thank you for commenting and watching

This is the best video out for helping install larger handle bars . Great job guy and thank you
Thanks for the video guys! Exactly what I was looking for to install LA Choppers Twin Peaks on my 2009 FLHTCU.
Pretty much a video of me and my brother-in-law doing something.. Good job!
Thanks for the video fellas. Really helped me get my bars installed!
Wow great job. I was thinking about doing some of this and my stereo install myself. I think I'll go to a shop lol!
Really Like The Way Those Bars Look Opposed To The Pointed Curvature Ones.
beginning in either '12 or '13 HD gave you more electrical wiring and more brake line so you didn't have to extend them, earlier than that you do have to extend everything.
Walter Alexander thank you we were un aware of that. it will be nice to have that info for future questions.
I just put 12” bars on my 01 only need the brake line extension
I did my 2012 Street Glide and you don't have to remove the radio. When you tilt faring forwards it clears the clamp bolts. Little less work.
I was going to say same thing. Why remove radio
I have an older version of this. Mine is a 1996 and has throttle cables. Do I need extended cables for that if I go to 12" bars? Thanks
you guys made it very simple for me thank you
Hi guys .. i want to install 12 inch handlebar on FLHTCU 2007 ( without ABS ) .
I have to change the clutch cable or throttle cable or brake line ?
Nicely done!
Great job guys. I would recommend replacing all the torx with Allen bolts while they’re off. Or in the very least make sure you have the highest quality torx wrenches, sockets, etc you can afford
Shut up
How did you get your finger under the ignition knob? I couldn't get my pinky in there and had to use a screw driver. Also getting the screws out of the radio were a pain but how about getting them back in?
Hello. Did you use any extension on the electronic throttle? (You could activate the international subtitles, we are watching from Brazil. Your video has helped a lot, as it is very expensive to do it at an HD dealership, and not many people have the courage to make this change).
Maybe I didn’t catch it. Did you need an extension on the throttle wire?
I have a 2011 street glide can I use stuck cable and wireless for 14inch ape ?
Do throttle wires need extension. Looked like u used what was there
Really nice. Thanks
Hey is this a 2013 street glide ?
Video was great about to install mine on a 2007 Electra glide
Joseph Beaudoin did you have to buy wire ext. Or cable ext?
How did they turn out on your 07 EGlide? Any extensions needed?
Also for future reference, Yaffe bars usually measure out 2" more than what you order. I ordered 10" for my bike so I wouldn't have to extend anything and they measure as 12" and had to reroute my cables and got really lucky. now I'm installing 16"s lol. getting all new cables this time and internally wiring. 2002 Electra Glide true conversion to Street Glide.
Jacob Anderson we noticed they were little taller because the red street glide that was in the garage in the video has 12" and mine were taller lol but im glad because im enjoying them.
So with true 12s on an older road glide, would I have to extend or reroute?
So you didn't have to remove and re-pin your handlebar controls? I had to get a longer clutch cable.
What is that fairing pouch that fits between your bars behind the windshield? Looking for one for my 14 ultra limited.
Josh McNeil I believe it's just called windshield bag problem with a 14 is you have the vented fairing so that would be blocked but you could still do it
Im confused... Does it work with the factory clutch cable or not. In the video it appears you use the factory cable and re-routed it but then you have captions saying that you did a +4 cable?
Good question! Wonder the same after watching the video and reading the description. Any luck to clarify this ?
Are Those 12’s they look tall... I am stuck between 12 or 14s
Where is the link to the 4in extension clutch lever?
What year is the ultra your doing this on ?older then 98 ?
Did you guys change the brake cable or
So you didn't have to buy extended brake lines? I have an 08 ultra glide I want to put 12" apes on but the "installation kit" for an abs equipped bike is more than the bars themselves 🙄
Did you have to change brake cable?
Roughly how long does it take you guys
LA Chopper's 12" Twin Peaks 1 1/4" bars you can use all oem cables, lines and wires! $231.73 on eBay
What year bike ?
Mario Sanchez 2012 Street Glide, but update, I had to get a longer clutch cable, but reused the oem brake line
Why 4" extension? 12" bars stock wires should be fine?
👍🏻nice thank you🤙🏻
I’m installing Arlen ness modular 13in bars on my 08 street glide, should I need clutch and brake cables?
Did you end up needing to extend them?
@@itiswhatitis6000 yes I did. I ended up getting a burly cable and wire kit.
If you’re in the kcmo area maybe you guys can help me with mine?! 🤔
Will I have to change cables if I put 10" or 12" bars on my 09 road glide?
Did you do them
@@AJV4L2007 yeah did you done it ? Coz i got 2009 Electra glide & just bought 12" mini ape for it but still not sure if I should get 13" cables kit for it or the original would fit ?!? 🤔
will this same setup work on my 06 ultra classic? I didn't see or hear what year your bike was in the video. thanks
jon tucker mine is a 2013 so im un aware because of different frames but never hurts to try then if doesnt order longer wires and cables but all i had to change with these bars is clutch cable if you get harley 12" i believe it would work.
thanks, and I appreciate the quick response, very cool channel, keep em coming
jon tucker your welcome shall try we wish harley would sponsor us because these videos are not cheap lol
2 Mostly Bald Guys Roger that
Great video...
Did I miss what year this is? 00-07?
Replaced my bars on a 2010 ultra classic and now I have zero power from the battery everything is plugged in I’m confused on why this happened. I’m in the process of backtracking to see if I missed something but as of right now zero power will not turn on at all 😩
Check your fuse also as it may have blown
Ur ignition switch is probably miss aligned. Check videos on UA-cam for instructions
Did you have to extend the TBW harness or not?
Bikers Against Bullies USA OHIO no we did not have to it was long enough on 2013 other years im not sure.
Thanks. I have a 12 limited. I'm hoping not to extend them on mine as well.
Bikers Against Bullies USA OHIO your welcome.
So when do I bring my 13 Street Glide over to do a set of 12" Twin Peaks? Lol
So can you see out of your stock mirrors after that
Yes I prefer them down with them up I couldn't see past my shoulders so under I can see better around me. Everyone is different though so I would try it if not put them back it's super easy.
Did you guys have extend front brake line ?
Nope it reaches
What model year is that bike
RikWCrlsn 2013 electra glide classic
hi guys, did you extend the brake line??? and if you do what's the new size?? thanks
Jaime Pacheco Espinoza nope the brake line reached on it no problem
this was the original brake line?? mine I think can't reach... I try to solve first the clutch line
Jaime Pacheco Espinoza yep mine is original
My electra is 99 and yours??
Jaime Pacheco Espinoza mine is a 13 so yours might be different
Did you have to bleed the abs system ? I was told i have too. I dunno
Mr Lazy my bike is non abs and i have never researched it so im unaware of that if you have to
2 Mostly Bald Guys i see you didnt even have to open the brake line so long as i dont open it i wouldn't havd to bleed it. But yall did an awesome job. I have a 13 ultra and i wad going go 10's now thinking 12 wire the same way , external
Mr Lazy thank you just know with 12 you will have to do a clutch cable. But im telling you now well worth it very comfortable ride i love it!!!
2 Mostly Bald Guys i kinda like the bars hidden behide the bars not over. Still a thought 10 or 12. What yr is that ultra
Is it a classic or limited, last question,
How tall is the guy on the bike at time 17:21 ?
6'1ish maybe little over that
2 mostly Bald Guys.... I have a Roadking and wanting taller bars to prevent pain in my traps. Because the bars cost 400.00 and 300.00 for cables I want to make the right choice in height. I’m 5’10 “ 200 lb . So how do you like 12” or do you think 14” would have fit you better
@@goodboyringo9716 I think 14 probably would have been better the only reason I went the way I did was I went the max for not changing cables and harness. At the time didn't have money and the bars were stupid cheap. At 5'10 I would say 12 would be good for height. I will say the amount of times my hands go numb is far less which helped alot.
@@2MostlyBaldGuysKC ... Yes you did the right thing to save 300.00 on cables. My bike is a 2000 Road king that I bought new so it doesn't have long cables.
If I could save 700.00 , (bars & cables) I would but I get pain riding 50 miles so I'll need to do something . Sad day when changing bars cost 700.00
👊🏾
Was the stock brake line long enough?
I've watched this a couple times to see how they did the brake line. That's the only thing that doesn't look long enough for mine
Why take radio out? Waist of time doing that
well lol that alot of fckin work to change the handle bar , i like the way it was before hmmm that ape hanger kindna looks abit off now sorry however great video
It's a good thing they put those bars on there bike and not yours right?
So what year Harley is that? You should put that in the title. Decent vid except for using all the wrong tools...
Did you ever get an answer? I have a 06 SG and I'm about to do 12".... wondering if I can use stock cables or what all I need without finding out in the middle of installation and having the bike sit...
Put the egnition shaft back in to unlock the wheel now can't get it back out. ? Wth
Man those almost look 14" bars.
You should not have to remove the radio.
I thought I could do it, I’ll pass!
Sv
Nice teaching vid...but I think I will just work a little O.T. and pay somebody. Thats ALOTTA cramped, tedious work
Ralph Martinet yes it is. But if you buy the bigger bars thick it's easier or if you buy bars pre wired even better
OK thanks...you two fellows seem like good peeps!
Ralph Martinet well thank you we try to be. Thank you for watching
Ralph Martinet..... Always work on your own bike , save money and learn, also the extra money you'd pay to someone for labor you can buy tools.
OMF PAINFUL to watch
I would of took My time and pulled the pins so you can run the wires internally. ...
Michael D we did but it wouldnt all fit we sat there forever but the dimple under wouldn't allow us to feed all together needed 1 1/4 bars for more room
2 Mostly Bald Guys that a bummer ....they look awesome though!!! I'm getting ready to to 12"hellbent bars on my dyna fatbob! they're 1 1/2" bars so I hope them wires fit lol
That should work with room to spare remember i have radio controls so extra wires. We had like 12 or 14 wires on each side
2 Mostly Bald Guys yea that's true! still looks great with the ferring hiding most of it ...thanks for the videos!!!
Michael D thank you and thank you for watching
So many cringe moments in this video. Glad you guys got them installed, but sheesh.
jspiers1 thats how we roll lol thanks for watching!!!
The biggest issue yall skipped over. The fly by wire hiw to hook up in the bars. I just waisted 30 minuts. Thanks for nothing....
Lmao 😂😂😂😂 all that
