Carp fishing A1 pits: underwater edition

- Part three of the margins and maggots series. Join me as i try to get footage of carp feeding underwater. Action from both above and below the surface carp fishing pit 4 in the margins using maggots.

Liam Addis thanks mate filmed on pit 4 but I would avoid that lake as it seems to have suffered the most in the floods. Pit 3 5 and 6 are fishing well. Pit 2 and 3 will be weedy I did a film fishing pit 3 in the weed, might be worth a look called fishing in weed on the channel
That’s good to know. We where thinking lake 5. Prob gonna get down there for around 8am. Any particular pegs to look out for? Would there be plenty pegs early doors Saturday? Liam Addis no problem mate any help you need just ask. The pits get very busy at the weekends especially this year. You can drive all the way around lake 5 so have a good look around. It will be busy sat morn but there is always people packing up and leaving especially in the mornings. Take a marker rod there are bars that run parallel with 4-5 split bank and 5-6 split bank approx 30,60 and 90 yards from the banks big bars you can’t miss them. There are also plateaus in the north east corner and south west corner. Deep margins and shallow corners it has it all

brilliant underwater footage...those two carp feeding and how they rejected the hook mind blowing.. stalking is true water craft well done thanks again..need a fix with whats going on in the world.
Thanks for the support James. Not being able to fish pales to insignificance to what some families are having to go through right now but it’s understandable that we feel constrained from our love of the pastime. When I set out the channel it was always to try and bring different things to UA-cam like the stalking, underwater stuff and the french river fishing. I’m not a big fish angler just jo average that turns up on a Friday night and battles for swims with everyone else. Only when Editing this film afterwards did I realise how often they were picking the rig up and dealing with it, when watching from above I thought they were turning away at the last minute, lesson learned!

I often watch my films back to try and learn through my own mistakes. Sometimes it doesn’t sink in on the day

do you find that the A1 traffic + the trains just disappear after a few visits👍,you hear them but don’t listen to them 😁,tight lines 👍

Didn't know they stocked any new fish in the pits? Which pit was this?
Pit 4 mate they stocked it with about 50 fish late 2018. Then January February time last year 2020 they got flushed out in the floods. They have since put about 30 more in but it is a low stock now. Other lakes on the complex have had stockings over the last 5 years also.
Hindsight is always 20-20 vision. Nice effort, easy relaxed presentation style, & no constant "subscribe like share" spiel which I find insults my intelligence.. 9/10 mate ( not giving u a 10 as then there's nothing to strive for lol)
Thanks Jerry Parkins for the kind words and description. You are 100% right without the camera I would have presumed I had “been unlucky” or “the fish weren’t having it “ but the camera never lies I got it wrong and paid for it!

Great video ,,Ive Never fished those pits tbh they look great ,,bit far for me to come from blackpool how many lakes are there and which lake is that your fishing cheers ,,

What rig do you recommend i always struggle on pits
Hi John depends on which pit mate, main thing is to be on the fish. If I’m fishing the margins and I can see the drop I will try to use an inline lead and a stiffish material and if stalking I will use maggots or a chopped down popup so it just sits above the hook which will be laying flat on the bottom. For range fishing I will use a Ronnie rig on a helicopter setup so there are no tangles and will present a over any bottom. On say pit 3 I would put out a wafter on a semi stiff German rig also on a helicopter rig, as I have noticed the leads sink in to the silt over night on that lake.
