      Thank you Mark appreciate the comment and kind words. It’s in south west France and called the Charente. There are a few films I have done on this river on the channel from day sessions to multiple overnighters trying to build a swim up. I’m not a big fish angler I’m more interested in the adventure and challenge in the fish I’m trying to catch. Hopefully I can bring that to UA-cam, something different to the normal stuff.

      @@grahamchurchward7159 ok quite a way away then. I was going to suggest a trip to future fishing in Newark, there’s a few anglers work there that have fished the place. I think most places are busy nowadays with Covid and I don’t see that changing any time soon. You need to buy a season parking pass for clumber as the parking charges are very expensive. Personally I would go when the weather is very rough, more chance of seeing fish moving and less chance of walkers and disturbance and just keep yourself to yourself. I know from people I work with non fishermen that live local the fish spend a lot of time in the out of bounds areas

    Wish I knew you were here I only live an hour south of there and would have popped up to say hello. Although primarily a barbel/chub fisherman I often catch carp and my biggest is also a 27lb mirror. I recently lost one far bigger than my PB and have lost big cats as well. My local is the Dronne but although I have had a couple of goes on the Charente I have had no luck. I want to have a crack on the Dordogne this winter as there are some monsters there. Like you I fish rivers and love the quality of the fish. Keep up the good work.

      Daniel Walker thank you Daniel, I’ve been fishing in France since 1993 first trip was made in a Ford RS turbo with a yellow dingy on the roof 😂 blanked for a week on some random park lakes 😳. When you are on the rivers it is like a proper adventure trying to put all the pieces together to make a result. As long as you lower your expectations fish size wise everyone you catch is an achievement with some special ones along the way.

      Andy Entwistle hi Andy if you go to the carte de peche website and use google translate it will show all the information in English. To fish the rivers in France and the vast majority of lakes for coarse fish all you need is a rod license like in England. There is no club or day ticket required on most rivers. On that website you can also find links to the area you are going which will show waters and where night fishing is allowed, you can also get the carte de peche while out in France as you drive around you may see signs outside bars or even garden centres indicating this. You can buy 1 day 1 week or yearly permits this way 👍

      Andy Entwistle hi Andy no problem mate ask away whatever you need to know. Believe it or not every year my other half sorts the carte out for me online so I have never done it myself since you had to go into the shop in France. We buy the yearly one as we go out for two weeks twice a year so it makes sense financially. We know the name of the association locally to where we go so put that into the carte de peche website. I only fish at the minute in the Charente maritime so have not needed to get any other stamps or extensions. I have looked at the website and it’s baffled me but this is what I believe. There are three main areas roughly north, south and east. You can buy a permit that covers the whole country or like me you can buy one that covers all the departments in the area which for me is south. I can then buy a stamp to cover me fishing in say the north area if I want to fish somewhere else in the country that’s not covered by my original choice. I would imagine you have the choice for 33euro to pick one of the regions ie north, south, or east. But couldn’t get that option to come up on the website. Hope that is of some use, if not I would ask the question on the carp forum website in the foreign section as there are some good lads on there that will help you out.

    Which hard hook-baits do you use mate? I found the Nash scopex squid hard'ons really good, but it's very hard to find them in 24mm, literally lol. Then there are the CC Moore Hard Hookbaits, but they on the other hand are softer than the Nash ones and it's also not very easy to find them. I'm using these when I can get hold of them and also there are some hard & light hook-baits from a small German company called Carpforce which I find very nice and had plenty of fish on, but they are only available in 20mm... I do double up on these however.

    • @waitingfortheweekend2441
      @waitingfortheweekend2441  4 роки тому +1

      Continental Waterways hi mate the baits I’m using are from dynamite baits and are the complex T. Unfortunately they are a mixed size in the pot 20 mm being the biggest and there are not many. They are harder than out the packet and deter the silvers but would be no match for a cray. I’m going to look into making them for next year just need to research what to put in the base mix to harden them off. I think we used to put egg albumin in but I think it will be trial and error.

    • @continentalwaterways4923
      @continentalwaterways4923 4 роки тому +1

      @@waitingfortheweekend2441 you have to put the right dose of egg-albumin mate. Cannot be arsed about bait production myself right now, too many other things on the list with priority. You can go over the Nash hard' ons with your car and they don't break.. and they come in 24mm... just as rare as it gets to discover in the shops and I cannot understand why... probably not enough demand by UK anglers fishing with 12mm across the bank lol
