In case you missed my september wrap up, i ended up reading my first hockey romance on the plane to the US and, well… ua-cam.com/video/l7_F11DyCqY/v-deo.html
The first time I ever went to Topping I was in Bath with my bf, and it was late and dark and a bit foggy and raining. And we were a bit wet and miserable but all the shops were shut. And out of the mist we saw this light, and we went closer and it was a bookshop! The staff welcomed us in and made us coffee and we had a happy browse and bought some books, and then they helped us make a dinner reservation for a restaurant they recommended… the whole experience was magical and we were genuinely surprised to see it still existed when we went back in the daytime.
You definitely don’t have to feel bad at all about owning paperback and hardback copies of a series. I do the same exact thing. I have both paper and hardback copies of Caraval and I’m working on owning hard and paper backs of Once Upon A Broken Heart. ✌️😂
Listened to “Paladin’s Grace” on audio after picking it blind for a twelve hour car trip with my husband, thus introducing him to the phrase “climb you like a tree.” 10/10
YES you need to read How The King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories ASAP! Anyone who doesn't love Cardan needs to. There is untold stories from his childhood, Cruel Prince scenes from his pov, and an extra chapter at the end that takes place during Queen of Nothing with Jude. Plus the book is just gorgeous, it can be read in like half an hour. I'm so happy you gave him another chance!!
I clicked SO fast when i saw the T. Kingfisher book- i ADORE her stuff, shes currently my favorite author currently! 'a wizard's guide to defensive baking' is something I will never shut up about! And would highly recommend her newest "hornhedge", its a really cool flipped sleeping beauty retelling thats has some really interesting world-building and then just the sweetest characters I've ever met. love her!!!
As someone who’s sooo excited for Curse to release, I’m now also impatiently waiting for that video. I actually first discovered the series and Stephanie based on your videos and recommendations. I’m actually meeting her on tour next week 😊
I have the waterstones exclusive covers of once upon a broken heart and ballad of never after and I absolutely adore them but you're really doing everything here to convince me to go get the hardbacks too 😂
Paladins Grace is so great and I’m so happy to see someone talking about it! I love the whole series. Paladins Strength is probably my favourite though. i hope you do a video about the series because it definitely deserves the love.
Thank you so much for recommending One For My Enemy to me, I loved it so much that I made a Kpop soundtrack playlist for it to fit the vibes, and I loved the playlist so much that I got inspired to make a Kpop UA-cam channel to post that playlist, so indirectly you inspired me to start my Kpop channel! Thanks Cari! (If anyone is interested the channel is called Reveloverboy and the One For My Enemy playlist is pretty bomb I must say).
You are spot on with your take on the Elise Kova series. The vampire one was SO LONG. And every time something would be resolved some new random thing would appear. I fought through it in the end. But I absolutely could not finish the siren one. Couldn’t do it. I made it 23% through and that is where it will stay.
it was such a delight to see that you had uploaded another video!! also, I'm happy to say I finally got around to reading again after seeing your raven cycle video and you know what? I understand the raven cycle hype and am now a changed person 😭
@@caricanreadalso I discovered Toppings in Edinburgh last winter (accidentally bought like 10 books and also got a big tote which I use every week for my library books) and I loved it! hearing you talk about it in Bath is bringing back my memories from my trip which is so nice too 😊
I bought One For My Enemy wayy before you read it, but once I found out that you did read ut and adore it so much, I started reading the book right away. And what a surprise! I actually enjoyed and LOVE it!😫😍 Considering The Atlas Six is such a disappointment for me, OFME is truly something. And I agree, it's definitely not for everyone due to Blake's writing and the plot she creates. (Also, that Hodderscape version of OUABH😭 I'm so mad that they don't have the big blue cover anymore but I'm so glad when this new version came out so I immediately bought one😂)
You need to read Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman. Kurt would probably like it, too. It’s about Einstein discovering the theory of relativity. Each chapter is about a different version of time. So good! And I know nothing about physics!
I cracked up at the Titanic bit, but also... GIRL... the one time you thought it was a trilogy and came prepared... it was three stand-alones?!?! WHAT ARE THE ODDS?! 😂 P.S - This past week I also re-read the Once Upon a Broken Heart and Ballad of Never After to prepare for the release and I cannot wait!!!!
When you take off the signed first edition strip you should put it behind the dust jacket rather than throwing it away. Just for future prestige purposes.
A trilogy i really recommend is The Shadow Game trilogy. Set in what I could only describe as the fantasy version of las vegas, we follow our protagonist Enne Salta on an adventure to find her missing mother. Yet it is only after following the few hints she was given, does she come into contact with the one person who can turn her life upside down. A City of Sin, a place that can corrupt even the most innocent and strong of souls, and a game only one has survived.
I read books online a lot just because it's more affordable at times and sometimes you just have to hit those illegal websites, but when I am buying physical copies I never buy books I've already read, but Once Upon a Broken Heart series is an exception because I love it so much and I live in Australia so I can get the UK covers and they are a need.
Not sure anyone else mentioned this but Paladin's Grace is actually part of a trilogy focusing on three paladins from the god that died's order. Just finished the second one, Paladin's Strength and many say it is their favorite in the series! Someone else mentioned Swordheart which takes place in the same universe and has crossover characters. It's also my favorite T. Kingfisher!
How do you plan your reading with Libby? I also use the library most of the time and I always feel like I’m waiting for my holds and then they all come in at the same time😅 any tips???
