i mean- the f22 and f35 obviously can’t carry as much as an f15ex but they can carry a not insubstantial amount of weapons. it can carry two 1000lb JDAMs while also carrying two aim120s and two aim9s. the f35 can internally carry the 500lb jdam, 500lb pave way 2, 1000lb JDAM, 2000lb JDAM, the JSOW, cbu103/105, then obviously also the aim120 and aim9. it can carry around 5700 lb internally. but the f35 has the ability to carry external pylons, which does defeat most of its stealth but it’s still less observable than the f15ex. with the external hard points the f35 can carry 22,000 lbs of ordinance (assuming it’s the A variant- the B can only carry 15,000 and the C is only 18,000) which is about 7,000 lbs less than the f15ex but only 2,500 lbs less than the regular f15e. the f35 is designed to do practically everything you can imagine a combat aircraft to do with at least a decent level of competency. but with the f22 that plane is absolutely 100% designed for air superiority above all and the fact it can hold 2 1000lb bombs is just a lucky afterthought.
@@acid6urnswhile I’d agree, a single F-15EXs could carry as much (almost) 30,000lbs (29,500). 2 F-15exs could carry more than 15 F-22s. That’s a substantial increase. That being said, using the F15 as a bomb truck or missile bus would be the better alternative especially with heavier stand-off weapons being employed
Different weapons for different platforms. For anti-ship role, F-35s can carry low observable JSM and supersonic AGM-88G/SiAW. Maybe even hypersonic MAKO. While F-18s/F-15s can carry stealthy JASSM/LRASM and AIM-174B.
@@johnsilver9338 I believe only the F/A-18F models will carry the AIM-174 due to the Mako hypersonic missile and AIM-260 being developed rather quickly. The AIM-174 is just a stopgap really until they’re both implemented. Especially the Mako being its small enough to be used internally

Favourite fighter jet doesn’t have to mean the greatest fighter jet. It’s not the biggest or fastest or most well armed or anything, but I’m still a huge Gripen fan because it’s just a lovely looking little aircraft. That it’s also been designed to be cheap to run, operate from short bits of straight road and be turned around in minutes by small ground crews are all bonuses. But mostly I like Gripen because it’s just so damn pretty.
The missiles ability to receive mission data after launch enables many things, of importance ist that it can be handed off for targeting/retargeting, further along the path. This enables the delivery system (including rapid dragon) can stay safely away and more capable/stealth resources can be used for targeting if needed.
Funny how people these days seem to think they can judge who you are and your beliefs through a screen and keyboard. Now you asked about my favorite fighter and to be honest new jets are cool but I am a sucker for the classics. of those classics the fork tailed devil or P-38 Lightning is my favorite. Lockheed went out on a limb and built a long range winner with this one. Along with making it a heavy hitter with 20mm cannon and a few nose mounted Ma Duece.
They didn't really go out on a limb so much as someone in procurement went to GB to evaluate the Mosquito, came back and said, "yo we need one of these with less wood, built in America, and while you're at it find a use for this massive stockpile of Allison engines because we can't build enough Merlins."
I think you should mix up countries, land, air, sea, mission to keep variety going unless you have short term themes, but you should promote that if that's the case.
The norwegians designed a stealth missile back in the early 2000s with infared homing. called the NSM Norwegian sip missile or strike missile. made by the kongsberg group
Yes, the 15 has range, and much more refueled, of course. It’s a bomb truck with the ability to scoot after the shoot. And a mixed strike with 22s, 35s, and drone packs…
I've often thought about a stealth missile retrofitted with an M29 (Davy Crockett nuke) warhead as the explosive device. You now have stealth capabilities combined with the yield of a GBU-43/B (negating the GBU weight) without the need for a dedicated or existing stealth based airframe to carry out a bombing mission with the new missile. The tactical application I suppose would be to specifically target aircraft carriers. Not only would the yield be devastating but would guarantee that the carrier is put out of action with one strike. Not only that but if it's programmed to detonate before it's shot down, provided wind direction was factored in before launch, then you have a double odds (2/3) of taking out the opposing carrier by direct hit or indirect VIA fallout vs a 1/2 odds of hit or miss on standard missiles. If the radioactive plum blows over and successfully hits the carrier, you essentially take out the crew which in turn renders the carrier inoperable. Lastly because this out at sea, it eliminates or reduces the risk of collateral damage from fallout that would be questionable on ground based targets. Don't get me started on the ethics, I'm only hypothesizing the technical feasibility on such speculative hardware & tactics.
I know not completely relevant o this vid, but I have read the the JASSM/LRASM are capable of being launched from a MK-41 VLS system. Great for use on a ship
Americans and DARPA never cease to amaze. Now what Top secret missles and bombs, weapons . We don’t know exist. IE the F117 we didn’t know about it until first Iraq war and had been active for years prior .Americans are very good at keeping secrets
Re the question: Favourite...so hard. It doesn't matter what you like be that weapons, type of food, a movie, a place etc etc. Somebody will take your preference as an insult to them. My advice for whatever it's worth is:- carry on doing what you love doing and ignore the thin skinned because you will never please everyone.
Wait, I was told those censer mounts on the sides of the cockpit would be empty on the EX because they did not want to pay for said censers. I see the censers are mounted on the rear as well. I REALLY hope those ARE the EX being shown and not, say, the SA or QA.
F-18 Hornet and Super Hornet. Saw the F-22 demo at an airshow, though, and its flight capabilities are absolutely insane. -Of note, I hear there's also the Quicksink program, using the heavier JDAM's or glide bombs.
It's a bit weird that you never considered stealth missiles before. I assumed they were a thing as making a stealth missile sounds vastly simpler than a stealth aircraft.
I think what that war will come down to his ship and naval convoy air defense. In my opinion USN has it pretty well covered, we just need to perfect reloading @ sea and hurry up with the HEL-AD (or whatever they call the laser defensive weapon of at least 300-500Kw for downing AShM's)! I like what USAF is seemingly doing with the FAR more "attritibal" Tempest 50 UAV's which are very cheap, modular UAV's which can/will take the place of a more capable UCAV like Reaper when all that is needed is persistent ISR of a much cheaper/less capable system. They're also likely to be used as loitering munitions. Which is the reason why I brought them up, you could use something like these cheap attritibal UAV's/loitering munitions in the thousands to quickly burn through the PLAN's AD Interceptor stockpiles..!
Yea i dont feel like you have a bias I just feel like your way to trusting of Russian sources I think i agree with you on your favorites I do thought like the f35 I am a big fan of the f111
the f15e does hold a lot of ordinance but i think the fact that the f35a with external pylons and only one engine only comes up 2,500 lb short of the f15’s payload capacity is just as impressive if not slightly more so
also if you’re asking if the f15 will ever get stealthy engines, probably not. there was already an attempt at a stealth f15 back in the day and even with as much stealth as they could cram on it the f15 was still hopelessly easy to detect. the ‘stealth’ f15 was roughly just as observable as a stock non stealth f18 super hornet.
*Sigh* I feel like the world missed the boat when no one opted for the reduced RCS F-15SE with the outboard pilons package. Reduction down to Viper sized RCS would have been useful trucking stealthy munitions closer to enemy lines.
C/D models are air superiority fighters. E models are strike fighters. The new EX model is can pretty much do whatever you want it to so long as it doesn't involve stealth.
I think it is a health mixture of surface vessels, submarines and and airplanes. The opposing force should not have the possibilty to know what hit him next.
PRC has the biggest rocket forces on the planet... and thinking that they will sit and take punches is hilarious! All those bases, naval or airforce, are in their range!
America: Had a literal stealth nuclear cruise missile in the 1980's that was specifically banned under later disarmament treaties and has developed various other low observable conventional cruise missiles and glide bombs over the last thirty years. Matsimus: I didn't think stealth could apply to missiles.
According to the engine, the speed limit is about 3,000 kilometers per hour. Maybe 3.300 km/h. This is for interceptor catching fast bombers and reconnaissance aircraft and slow missiles. A bomber needs a maximum mass of about 30 tons, a speed of more than 1,000 km/h and an altitude of more than 10,000 meters to hurl high-precision bombs diagonally at 70 km or more. An invisible aircraft needs to be able to move at a high altitude at a lower speed, let the speed be average, because a high-speed object will see the radar.
Is it possible to get away from a long-range anti-aircraft missile? Such things happen now. During the execution of the task, the launch of an anti-aircraft missile is detected and reported by radio, the task is stopped, all the time it is clarified from which side and which course this missile is moving. And I got the impression that not only burning traps are used that shoot out to the sides, but also some kind of maneuver is used to change direction and altitude. But I wasn't around here, I was just reading an article on the Internet with recordings of conversations between pilots and the control room. First of all, it does not always save. Secondly, it may be a fake planted on the Internet. ua-cam.com/video/cA5eartth80/v-deo.htmlsi=MnCOEYkKxAnLQWC2 Therefore, I do not know if super-maneuverable aircraft are needed now. Is dogfight at close range relevant in World War 2? With such maneuvers, the maximum speed is quickly lost.
Na bro; your not biased. You just love mil equipment. Like me lol. Fav jet; fat Amy is growing on me. F-35. As for 4th gen F-15 all the way even though I spent my time around F-16s in my day.
The missiles are indeed expensive but I think the Air Force will help decrease that price. The more the US buys, the cheaper the missiles get. The navy knows it needs more missiles.

@@baronvonslambert Could you imagine what a beast that would have been with Merlins?
My favourite fighter jet is the Saab Gripen
JAS 39 Gripen; but then again, I’m biased.
Hopefully things are starting to improve for you with the algorithm.
-P-47. It was in service until 1955 in the U.S. The last ones served with the Peruvian Air Force in 1966.
Cool this video is about lrasm
America uses nsm unfortunately
The USA does indeed use the naval strike missile. The USA also uses NASAMS.
Since I saw "Top Gun" for the very first time, I've been F-14 fanboy. Nothing will change that fact.
Say shares the same shape as the jsow and the JASM; yes it is very stealthy actually
This is a great fighter
Yes, the 15 has range, and much more refueled, of course. It’s a bomb truck with the ability to scoot after the shoot. And a mixed strike with 22s, 35s, and drone packs…
What was the opening music? That tune slapped
You aren't biased.
You cover whatever you find interesting.
I don't care where weapon systems come from. I just want hear about them 😊
Yes he is bias, he likes airplanes and the shapes of them. Go look up him hating and loving the gripen. 😉
You seem very far from biased, but being balanced is a good way to be called biased these days!
F-4, Mirage 2K, F/A-18C, and an honorable mention to the MiG-29
Avro Lightning it was a beast
Another great episode. Helps to know ones enemies (russia) and their capabilities.
What I like it have so a high payload. I think that makes a interesting combination with the F35 which has only a small payload.
Your contents are great as always. Bias or not, great job Mat. Anyway, I vote for unbiased 😅
Not specifically fighters: F-117 (the most sci-fi thing created by humans), F-111, F-35, F-22, Su-35, the cutie Su-25 Frogfoot (in UA livery), B-2, B-21, F-15 variants, F-16 & F-16XL cranked arrow delta, SAAB 35 Draken (#1 sexy plane, F-22 a close second), JAS 39 Gripen, YF-23...sheeeeet... B-1 Bone, B-52 BUFF, A-10. Surprisingly don't get too misty for the YF-12/A-12 or SR-71, but they look cool and are an engineering marvel.
I never found you biased. Don’t change
The F-22 is the greatest air superior fighter yet designed, but the F-15 is demonstrably the greatest multi-role fighter to ever take to the skies. Yes, I'm an American and we always brag on own stuff, but c'mon, facts are facts in this case. 🇺🇲
@@stevenscoggins170 F22 while a marvel of engineering it still hasn’t been in air combat like the F15 which has a 104(?) to 0 kill/loss air combat history.
@@Angl0sax0nknight neither the F-22 nor the f-15 has seen modern combat and the only reason the f-15 has a kill the loss ratio that is that impressive is because it's gone against second and third gen Jets I want to see an f-15 go against a su-35 or a j-11
@@Angl0sax0nknight No, but it has conducted multiple air combat patrols in the Middle East. It's not our fault nobody wants to tangle.
@@Iamabot4708 Dude, make up your mind! Its either they been in combat or not in combat. How are you going to acknowledge it's been in combat but claim it hasn't been in combat??????? LOL
My favorite fighter jet is the one best suited to the mission.
HALO is not meant to replace the LRASM. It’s a smaller in number hypersonic augmentation. The LRASM is meant to be used in large numbers. So yes there is already a large stock pile of the LRASMs…..
Lrasm does already have a active production line with a few hundred produced
I believe in affordable upgrades. That's
The ticket. Especially for combat vehicles. And planes.
For those who think Mat is being a Russian fan boy:
Know thy enemies so that you can defeat him.
It’s just about the tech, doesn’t even come to enemy or not.
@@gazraytwhat I'm saying we're talking about technology not a culture
Or maybe because this is an English language channel and it is harder to find information on Russian systems in English? So he does more videos on systems that his audience may have trouble finding information on.
@@Iamabot4708 Yep. Getting sick of the narrative x good, y is bad. We can’t even talk about y because y bad 🙄
It’s just that even in comments you can find legit Russian fanboys or people trolling as one because they find it funny to support evil.
The trouble with social media is just saying you like something is enough to drive some people to feather spitting rage. It doesn't matter what you like be that weapons, type of food, a movie, a place etc etc. Somebody will take your preference as an insult to them. My advice for whatever it's worth is:- carry on doing what you love doing and ignore the thin skinned because you will never please everyone.
LRASM-ER IS on the way 😊
Wait, I was told those censer mounts on the sides of the cockpit would be empty on the EX because they did not want to pay for said censers.
F-5. Hands down.
I've found you based... not biased except for loving Field artillery in ways that most people wouldn't understand...
intelligent weapons
F15 is still in production to this day. Greatest fighter jet ever, hands down.
F-22 is probably the best fighter aircraft
personally i like the Gripen
My favourite is the f86: the f15 and the f22.
Saab Griffin, Raphael, and the typhoon.
Looks wise. Nothing beats the Rafale. F22 is a close second with the F-16 3rd.
Yea i dont feel like you have a bias
I just feel like your way to trusting of Russian sources
I think i agree with you on your favorites
I do thought like the f35
I am a big fan of the f111
The LRASM-ER or XR and JASSM- XR are supposedly to have a range of 1000 miles. An anti-ship missile with that kind of range is absolutely incredible.
Berkut Golden Eagle SU - 47.
My favorite fighter jet is the NORTHROP YF-23 BLACK WIDOW II, but the F-15 EXCALIBUR will do.
Fairey Gannet. Not a fighter but.........
The Eagle is a gangster of a fighter. It can carry a boat load of ordnance.
Will the Eagle ever receive engines similar to the Raptor?
the f15e does hold a lot of ordinance but i think the fact that the f35a with external pylons and only one engine only comes up 2,500 lb short of the f15’s payload capacity is just as impressive if not slightly more so
also if you’re asking if the f15 will ever get stealthy engines, probably not. there was already an attempt at a stealth f15 back in the day and even with as much stealth as they could cram on it the f15 was still hopelessly easy to detect. the ‘stealth’ f15 was roughly just as observable as a stock non stealth f18 super hornet.
@ Vectoring
My fav is sr71 :3
Great leaders study their opponents.
*Sigh* I feel like the world missed the boat when no one opted for the reduced RCS F-15SE with the outboard pilons package. Reduction down to Viper sized RCS would have been useful trucking stealthy munitions closer to enemy lines.
Harrier. Is F15 a fighter or an interceptor?
C/D models are air superiority fighters. E models are strike fighters. The new EX model is can pretty much do whatever you want it to so long as it doesn't involve stealth.
my fav jet fighter is MiG21BISON
I think it is a health mixture of surface vessels, submarines and and airplanes. The opposing force should not have the possibilty to know what hit him next.
PRC has the biggest rocket forces on the planet... and thinking that they will sit and take punches is hilarious! All those bases, naval or airforce, are in their range!
the missile knows where it is because it knows where it isn't.
How many can they build per month, what is the 67 month spool up capability. Weapons are only useful if you have enough of them to wage a war.
Added; for larger aircraft I love the B-1b. Something crazy that a plane that big can act like a fighter jet.
F-15's bring down satellites in space. No other plane gets to boast like that. A god amoung mice.❤
My favorites are reversed. My absolute favorite is the F-15, followed closely by the F-22.
One day you have to start talking about Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, etc...
The missiles are indeed expensive but I think the Air Force will help decrease that price. The more the US buys, the cheaper the missiles get. The navy knows it needs more missiles.
my fav gave of all time is by microprose. the OG x-com. the firaxis remake of it, and the sequel (and all addon content, and some mods) are fantastic too. wildly different gameplay but very good "similar" but different modernization of the original concept. in fact, should fire up some of the firaxis remake right now.
My favorite fighter jet is the Mitsubishi F-1. It, kind of, looks like a SEPECAT Jaguar on steroids.
If I am wrong I want somebody to correct me because I would love to see it but I don't think the F-15 has ever showed up in any movies where was the underdog in any way.
Independence Day
@RTmadnesstoo those were all Legacy hornets.
I don't think Matsimus is a russian fan boy he might be a British fanboy, but he's ours now a Canadian
