Yeah, we knew it was coming. I had been feeling it for months, even though I had never played a gacha before, but it was still shocking. We knew once the story was done that was it, but it’s still heartbreaking. I still feel really thankful that they will complete the story and was able to enjoy it for 3 years every single day since release day.

honestly same here lol, the first thing I remembered when I read the news was the first time when I started playing on day one, I didn't know what the term gocha meant just installed it and was exited that finally there is something new in the world of nier, I had just moved to a new dorm no furniture, the smell of the new paint, and exams were coming up during my bachelors and this game was my little escape from stress :).
I just got into NieR yesteryear, and only recently started considering downloading the game for myself a few weeks back. Was doing the stupid thing of "only download it once you complete the other NieR games". Well, hindsight is 20/20. Both NieR RepliCant and Automata are finally 100% complete, and I can finally start Re[in]carnation but now, the EoS has been announced. Had my wallet ready and everything. Here's hoping after the End of Service for NieR Re[in]carnation, we get an offline version release, and if not, here's hoping someone rips it for preservation so the people who want to experience it all can, y'know? I already know there's tons of important and interesting lore in the game, alongside amazing characters, just from the wiki. I yearn to experience it all. Dunno, but fingers crossed that some form of preservation happens. In any case, that's the way the coin lands I guess. Gotta make the most of the time I have with this title now.

Big fan of the NieR series. And also a musician, I've enjoyed many hours arranging and playing NieR's astonishing music. When Rein came out - I've installed it immediately, made a few steps across the cage, and left it there. Gacha and NieR were not sitting right with me together. Years later I decided to watch a video I've saved long ago too, that just retells the main story of Rein, I had no plan to play but it was interesting to know what's the story about. Need to go and say thanks to the author as from that video I've figured out that gacha component is not that important to the main story. And so I started playing, it was about 3 months ago, YoRHa event was going on and it gave me 3 of my favorite costumes. And I loved the game, with its beautiful yet sad, depressing or even sometimes suffocatingly soul-crushing stories, astonishing visual design and music, and even interesting gameplay. NGL - I've enjoyed gacha quite a bit too. I've decided to save some of the main story for later and stopped at Sarafa's part. After the EOS news was announced, I've continued with it yesterday and quickly found myself in the ROOM. You know, the one full of lunar tears and Kaine's makeshift house in the middle, with that same clumsy painting of her grandma inside. And with the music, one of the most beautiful soundtracks of the whole series. The room of memories of a happy past, of nostalgia and even mourning. What a timing, I've almost lost it. No need to say that EOS news is sad to me. Not only because I haven't had enough time with the game but also because all of the game beauty will be just lost to the deprecation abyss. But as they say - don't be sad it's over, be happy it was going. And I'm happy for the time I've spent in the game

I really am sad about this but thats normal for NieR. im sooo glad i stayed since the begining when this game came out of course most becofe the story, its really been a blast espacilly sun and moon really remindet and gave me the NieR feeling automata and replicant gave me. And theres been so much more info about the nier universe in this game that i was screaming alot couse as we know yoko taro doenst reveal that much when it comes to the story in the main games! Im really gratefull of the game and i will miss it a lot but i hope there will be alot new project coming along and i hope that this is not entirely the end :) thanks for everyone that supportet the game! This is my first gacha game that I've been invested in. I love the Nier series and I've been playing this game since launch . While the gameplay isn't anything remarkable sinice it's a mobile game. The game is rich in story/stories. I'm kinda bummed about the EOS coming soon due to the time, effort and money I put into this game, but I regret nothing . But, I'm also kinda relieved that Yoko was able to finish the story. Also I'll be able to take a breather since it everyday felt like a chore trying to keep up with events. Still, I've enjoyed my time playing this game and I'll see it through to the very end.
After they close the game i'll never play a mobile game again. This happened to me too with Mobius. This completelly destroys my heart. These games lifetime is so short that i can't handle anymore, i'm gonna stay away from them as much as i can. I finally oppened my eyes. I love Square, but in the Mobile games scenario... omg.

My main game nowadays is Lost Ark and im feeling pretty lazy this last months to play it, just because im engaging too much into the VR scenario. I really love this Mobile games because sometimes in the go they're so handy and nice, but the thing about you know one day will be over its depressing. Mobius, now Nier... I'm no trust anymore. Honestly, this news made me sadder than I thought it would. I knew this was coming, that the game will end this year, but I didn't expect to see this announcement before the JP 3rd Anniversary. And after the story ends it's only one month before the game is completely gone. It hit me hard. I'm a bit relieved that I won't need to sink so much time into a single game anymore, however this was part of my life for over two years. I hope Nier Reincarnation will be preserved in some way for other people to enjoy, as it's such a unique experience. It would be a crime to not allow them access to a huge amount of lore this game has provided to the Nier series. Anyway, thank you for your videos, I found them quite helpful and it was nice to have a fan like you among the creators for this game.

Rein was my first gacha. I started playing it a little over 6 months ago, and discovered it after playing Automata and Replicant. Although it's very grindy, I really enjoyed logging in everyday. Ngl, I'm pretty heartbroken it's ending, I spent a lot of time playing in those 6 months. I'm going to miss a lot about it. I'm glad that the story will be completed, at least. Have you tried Honkai Star Rail? I'm kinda glad I have at least it to fall back on. I love the gameplay and the story. Lots of positives in it for a gacha! I tried Honkai when it came out and think the battle system is really top notch although the anime vibe isn’t totally my thing. I may give it another try with a new account for their anniversary!

Reinca was my first gacha, I got to be in the CBT as well! I remember being completely stunned when the game went live and I calculated how much I would have to save to get one pity back when it was 300, and how much money that would be lmao. But after Automata event I saved everything for Zero and was so happy to get her ❤ Anyways thanks so much Farplane! I've always watched your vids before I make any pulls and I'm looking forward to the music channel, that sounds so cool!! (If you're looking for another gacha I recommend honkai star rail, it's high quality story and it's nice on mobile! So far there's not much powercreep and it seems the devs are actively trying to avoid it, we get alot of nice future proof units like Kafka and Topaz that enable playstyles which has been really nice)
I will remain until the end, with my head held high. Fan of the Nier series, it gave me two years of good times, a very good story, I love its music. Their gacha system was one of the friendliest I've tried. My first automatic game, that didn't take away from its interest with those doses of history and immersive music. sad sad day, but I'm very thankful to the devs they have put an amazing job, and delivered an amazing story, I was a day one player, I remeber the music hit me immediatly and I knew its gonna hold up to the nier franchise, and boy this game was with me through some tough times and helped a lot during them where I could just enjoy some well-written story and escape everything and the funny thing I was not even familiar with gocha games hated the grind at first but it grew slowly in me and here I am still gonna play it till the last day. and thanks for the hard work covering it, it was a pleasure :).

Thanks for the ride. Sad to see it end, but good that it ends on completing the story. If you are looking for new Gacha: Honkai Star Rail is the biggest turn-based one and it's deserved. Great story/lore, graphics, less grindy and the combat is much more satisfying. Reverse1999 more Niche, has superp story and voice-acting, but the chibi style in combat is not everyone cup of tea. There is also a lot of promising new titles starting this year, so I hope you find something to rekindle your passion.
This is a was already going to be a tough year in gaming for me since I was going to retire from my 9 1/2 years journey for Destiny 2 (and D1) after the Day one raid, but losing Reincarnation 6 weeks even before that stings all the more. I've been playing Reverse: 1999 on the side, but while I like the gameplay, the story doesn't have the spark that kept me invested. That said, I'm glad Reincarnation was my first gacha and undoubtedly my favorite NieR entry.
Gentleman, it has been an honour Honestly its heartbreaking because no other gacha had me emotionally invested as Nier Rein's story and writing. But I kinda expected the Eos after the persona collab haha. really enjoyed your content Farplane, its a shame it had to be this way.
Also! if you're looking for gachas I have to preach about the best one I play which is Punishing Grey Raven (PGR) The game is kind of a lot to get into but simple to keep up with and very generous. The main reason I'd recommend it is to see if you like the style of game because the company that makes it is coming out with Wuthering Waves which is basically a sequel. It's going to compete with Genshin Impact. Open world combat style of game. PGR is fun and has a cemented community but if you like it it, could be fun to get on the Wuthering Waves train while the game is still in beta and play it when it comes out could help you grow.
I think NIKKE is the game for the Nier enjoyer right now. Besides the obligatory collab, the game really has themes similar to Nier, since the nikkes are androids too and there's an ongoing war with machines, themes of identity, sacrifice, war etc it's very engaging, but people need to get over the whole "this game is just about ass" just like they did for Nier. As for the gacha element, it's overall better than Nier, as well as the monetization scheme (you can be a low spender, get skins etc or 100% free, can save for big units "pilgrims" and pity carries over from any banner, until you can buy the banner unit with 200 tickets - bros, imagine buying a nier costume with like 200 bookmarks). the devs over at shiftup are clearly fans of the series (+ they are also cultured)
The only thing I'm mad about is that the crossover event stories are not going to be in the Library on 28th March, I never got to actually see them and I'm not going to until the very end of the game
I honestly didn't even realize this game was a gacha when i started playing, i went uh-oh when i realized it was but it ended up not being a hurdle at all and this has by far been my favorite mobile game period. It's not technically my first gacha, i played I think 2 or 3 others but they were much more Americanized and didnt have that same vibe. One was that Star Wars one which i didn't stick around for and the other was a MTG tower-defense-strategy-pvp thing, which i absolutely loved but it was not a gacha in the same way at all. Watching the datamine of EoS was heartbreaking, but it's important to stay strong and enjoy what we have left, and cherish the memories we made getting here. I didnt realize pvp turns off in april, rip T_T i guess ill chase X scores in subj in April. I might boot up a new account and playthrough everything just for the story. I was also thinking of doing more artwork, but was gonna put it off. I won't be putting that off anymore, I'm finishing my current project, and starting Feb 1st I'll work on more Rein stuff. Lastly, regarding the music, that'd be cool. The only reason I'm here playing this game today is because of the Automata OST. I used listen to a lot of game OSTs while working (i consume a lot more long form content now) and Automata OST slapped so hard that I ended up watching a review for the game and then playing it and falling in love. Even before Automata my theory is that if a game has a good OST that's a sign that it's a solid game. Music is such an easy thing to neglect in games so when a studio really pours love into music, you know everything else is gonna have that same amount of love in it.

You should definitely give Limbus Company a look. Is very close to NiER Reincarnation in terms of structure, dark themes and it seems Yoko Taro inspired. The combat is very deep as well. And turn based too.
Started during Persona collab, even though I regret spending any money on this game. It was fun auto play with some story. I stopped listening to the story after it went away from English voice acting. Once everything is documented, I'll go back and rewatch for story to know what's going on

That's not being entirely honest. While you can eventually go infinite and get all the new units without spending money, the real trap is the gearing system that you need to endlessly invest in stamina to eventually beat the odds. Star Rail has the same trap.
@@providencebreaker1558 There's lots of ways to narrow down the stats you want. And imo, the gear grind in E7 is much easier to handle than reincarnation. You can auto battle up to 30 battles. Convert useless gear into exp or conversion gems, level up epic crafting in the workshop, equipment conversion in alchemist steeple, reset a piece of gear, and modify a stat that is out of place. Not to mention the frequent crafting event where you have a whole month to craft exactly the piece of gear you're missing. Save reset gems for that.
I knew this game was coming to the end when they discontinued the English voice dubs about 8 months back. When I read the reason why they discontinued the English dub, that's when I knew the game was in trouble and foreshadowing the end of service.
They are focusing on ever crisis. It's the future. Fortunately and unfortunately. This is gone along with opera omnia. If we are lucky they will implement opera omnia into ever crisis. It only makes sense. If money is the objective then we'll get ever crisis packed with other ff characters. Nier i can't say but I'm not surprised

I degraded to “dailies only” for a while and since ever crisis came out I don’t log in much anymore. But I have a pretty good roster in it and even spent (too much) money to get A2. While the story is good the whole experience of going through a chapter without being able to speed up or skip the dialogue, and also having to complete a million path actions in a new town were just such a slog to me. But yes I still have the account and the app installed!
Hi! that will be my first gatcha shut down, although not the first gatcha that I play, I'm still playing Genshin Impact, mostly because my daughter, we play together, I love the combat dynamic and elemental reactions in that game, as well as world exploration and puzzles, as a long therm Assassin's Creed player I know how to explore one open world and collect everything very efficiently. That said I don't recommend starting this game now, the story is very long and the game delivers in a tedious dialogs without skip button that you have to go trough and is not enjoyable to watch, on top of that there is the company, Hoyoverse, very stingy and tone deaf towards the community, they picked up most of the feedback complains we gave for years playing Genshin and applied all in their newer game: Honkay Starrail instead of fixing the problems in the game we play, that was really dirty, rewards on the new game are many times more generous than it ever was in the Genshin. One game that is about to start soon and I'm Hyped on is Wuthering Waves, I think it has a lot of potential.
I am still playing War of the Visions and Nier collab soon. Now, I have to work (spend!) more to get all of them 😅 This has been such a great game. I came from SEA so that’s twice for this game 😖 to me, it is 1 of those games I purposefully got a capable device so I can play it fully.

I really am sad about this but thats normal for NieR. im sooo glad i stayed since the begining when this game came out of course most becofe the story, its really been a blast espacilly sun and moon really remindet and gave me the NieR feeling automata and replicant gave me.
And theres been so much more info about the nier universe in this game that i was screaming alot couse as we know yoko taro doenst reveal that much when it comes to the story in the main games! Im really gratefull of the game and i will miss it a lot but i hope there will be alot new project coming along and i hope that this is not entirely the end :) thanks for everyone that supportet the game! This is my first gacha game that I've been invested in. I love the Nier series and I've been playing this game since launch . While the gameplay isn't anything remarkable sinice it's a mobile game. The game is rich in story/stories. I'm kinda bummed about the EOS coming soon due to the time, effort and money I put into this game, but I regret nothing . But, I'm also kinda relieved that Yoko was able to finish the story. Also I'll be able to take a breather since it everyday felt like a chore trying to keep up with events. Still, I've enjoyed my time playing this game and I'll see it through to the very end.

After they close the game i'll never play a mobile game again. This happened to me too with Mobius. This completelly destroys my heart. These games lifetime is so short that i can't handle anymore, i'm gonna stay away from them as much as i can. I finally oppened my eyes. I love Square, but in the Mobile games scenario... omg.

My main game nowadays is Lost Ark and im feeling pretty lazy this last months to play it, just because im engaging too much into the VR scenario. I really love this Mobile games because sometimes in the go they're so handy and nice, but the thing about you know one day will be over its depressing. Mobius, now Nier... I'm no trust anymore. From now on ill take my Switch more in consideration for this purposes.

Honestly, this news made me sadder than I thought it would. I knew this was coming, that the game will end this year, but I didn't expect to see this announcement before the JP 3rd Anniversary. And after the story ends it's only one month before the game is completely gone. It hit me hard. I'm a bit relieved that I won't need to sink so much time into a single game anymore, however this was part of my life for over two years. I hope Nier Reincarnation will be preserved in some way for other people to enjoy, as it's such a unique experience. It would be a crime to not allow them access to a huge amount of lore this game has provided to the Nier series. Anyway, thank you for your videos, I found them quite helpful and it was nice to have a fan like you among the creators for this game.

Too bad that they put so much affort in art, story and music for this game, gameplay wise it was so dissapointing. I wish all of this was made for a real NieR game. It could have been amazing. At least the full story recap videos are gonna be popping soon.
Losing all of those is often one of the biggest bummers about these games closing!
Rein was my first gacha. I started playing it a little over 6 months ago, and discovered it after playing Automata and Replicant. Although it's very grindy, I really enjoyed logging in everyday. Ngl, I'm pretty heartbroken it's ending, I spent a lot of time playing in those 6 months. I'm going to miss a lot about it. I'm glad that the story will be completed, at least.
Have you tried Honkai Star Rail? I'm kinda glad I have at least it to fall back on. I love the gameplay and the story. Lots of positives in it for a gacha! I wanted to thank you for covering Rein, always happy to watch your videos.
I tried Honkai when it came out and think the battle system is really top notch although the anime vibe isn’t totally my thing. I may give it another try with a new account for their anniversary!

Reinca was my first gacha, I got to be in the CBT as well! I remember being completely stunned when the game went live and I calculated how much I would have to save to get one pity back when it was 300, and how much money that would be lmao. But after Automata event I saved everything for Zero and was so happy to get her ❤

(If you're looking for another gacha I recommend honkai star rail, it's high quality story and it's nice on mobile! So far there's not much powercreep and it seems the devs are actively trying to avoid it, we get alot of nice future proof units like Kafka and Topaz that enable playstyles which has been really nice)

I will remain until the end, with my head held high. Fan of the Nier series, it gave me two years of good times, a very good story, I love its music. Their gacha system was one of the friendliest I've tried. My first automatic game, that didn't take away from its interest with those doses of history and immersive music.

sad sad day, but I'm very thankful to the devs they have put an amazing job, and delivered an amazing story, I was a day one player, I remeber the music hit me immediatly and I knew its gonna hold up to the nier franchise, and boy this game was with me through some tough times and helped a lot during them where I could just enjoy some well-written story and escape everything and the funny thing I was not even familiar with gocha games hated the grind at first but it grew slowly in me and here I am still gonna play it till the last day. and thanks for the hard work covering it, it was a pleasure :).

If you are looking for new Gacha:
Honkai Star Rail is the biggest turn-based one and it's deserved. Great story/lore, graphics, less grindy and the combat is much more satisfying.
Reverse1999 more Niche, has superp story and voice-acting, but the chibi style in combat is not everyone cup of tea.
There is also a lot of promising new titles starting this year, so I hope you find something to rekindle your passion.

This is a was already going to be a tough year in gaming for me since I was going to retire from my 9 1/2 years journey for Destiny 2 (and D1) after the Day one raid, but losing Reincarnation 6 weeks even before that stings all the more. I've been playing Reverse: 1999 on the side, but while I like the gameplay, the story doesn't have the spark that kept me invested. That said, I'm glad Reincarnation was my first gacha and undoubtedly my favorite NieR entry.

Also! if you're looking for gachas I have to preach about the best one I play which is Punishing Grey Raven (PGR) The game is kind of a lot to get into but simple to keep up with and very generous. The main reason I'd recommend it is to see if you like the style of game because the company that makes it is coming out with Wuthering Waves which is basically a sequel. It's going to compete with Genshin Impact. Open world combat style of game. PGR is fun and has a cemented community but if you like it it, could be fun to get on the Wuthering Waves train while the game is still in beta and play it when it comes out could help you grow.

I think NIKKE is the game for the Nier enjoyer right now. Besides the obligatory collab, the game really has themes similar to Nier, since the nikkes are androids too and there's an ongoing war with machines, themes of identity, sacrifice, war etc it's very engaging, but people need to get over the whole "this game is just about ass" just like they did for Nier. As for the gacha element, it's overall better than Nier, as well as the monetization scheme (you can be a low spender, get skins etc or 100% free, can save for big units "pilgrims" and pity carries over from any banner, until you can buy the banner unit with 200 tickets - bros, imagine buying a nier costume with like 200 bookmarks). the devs over at shiftup are clearly fans of the series (+ they are also cultured)

The only thing I'm mad about is that the crossover event stories are not going to be in the Library on 28th March, I never got to actually see them and I'm not going to until the very end of the game

I honestly didn't even realize this game was a gacha when i started playing, i went uh-oh when i realized it was but it ended up not being a hurdle at all and this has by far been my favorite mobile game period. It's not technically my first gacha, i played I think 2 or 3 others but they were much more Americanized and didnt have that same vibe. One was that Star Wars one which i didn't stick around for and the other was a MTG tower-defense-strategy-pvp thing, which i absolutely loved but it was not a gacha in the same way at all. Watching the datamine of EoS was heartbreaking, but it's important to stay strong and enjoy what we have left, and cherish the memories we made getting here.
I didnt realize pvp turns off in april, rip T_T i guess ill chase X scores in subj in April. I might boot up a new account and playthrough everything just for the story. I was also thinking of doing more artwork, but was gonna put it off. I won't be putting that off anymore, I'm finishing my current project, and starting Feb 1st I'll work on more Rein stuff.
Lastly, regarding the music, that'd be cool. The only reason I'm here playing this game today is because of the Automata OST. I used listen to a lot of game OSTs while working (i consume a lot more long form content now) and Automata OST slapped so hard that I ended up watching a review for the game and then playing it and falling in love. Even before Automata my theory is that if a game has a good OST that's a sign that it's a solid game. Music is such an easy thing to neglect in games so when a studio really pours love into music, you know everything else is gonna have that same amount of love in it.

Thinking about other gachas: have you tried Arknights? not only it has an interesting and fascination story, but it also has a very wide variety of amazing music. I should mention that is a tower defense game, so it maybe not be of everyone taste but the music is fantastic so it’s worth a try

DC Legends did a solid to do similar before their EoS. All the completionists got what they wanted in the last month of EoS.

You should definitely give Limbus Company a look. Is very close to NiER Reincarnation in terms of structure, dark themes and it seems Yoko Taro inspired. The combat is very deep as well. And turn based too.

Started during Persona collab, even though I regret spending any money on this game. It was fun auto play with some story. I stopped listening to the story after it went away from English voice acting. Once everything is documented, I'll go back and rewatch for story to know what's going on

That's not being entirely honest. While you can eventually go infinite and get all the new units without spending money, the real trap is the gearing system that you need to endlessly invest in stamina to eventually beat the odds. Star Rail has the same trap.
@@providencebreaker1558 There's lots of ways to narrow down the stats you want. And imo, the gear grind in E7 is much easier to handle than reincarnation.
You can auto battle up to 30 battles. Convert useless gear into exp or conversion gems, level up epic crafting in the workshop, equipment conversion in alchemist steeple, reset a piece of gear, and modify a stat that is out of place. Not to mention the frequent crafting event where you have a whole month to craft exactly the piece of gear you're missing. Save reset gems for that.
Thank god I never put money or time and just read the wiki lore. It’s sad but I learned the hard way when they nuked Terra Battle

I knew this game was coming to the end when they discontinued the English voice dubs about 8 months back. When I read the reason why they discontinued the English dub, that's when I knew the game was in trouble and foreshadowing the end of service.

They are focusing on ever crisis. It's the future. Fortunately and unfortunately. This is gone along with opera omnia. If we are lucky they will implement opera omnia into ever crisis. It only makes sense. If money is the objective then we'll get ever crisis packed with other ff characters. Nier i can't say but I'm not surprised

someone needs to rip the game and preserve it. the characters and story are way too good to just poof into oblivion. I'm not takin it well. A lot of time was spent on this game and i really only ever bought any of the packs or gems not because i cared about gettin any advantage in the game but more because i love ans support the company and want nier as a franchise to continue on.

I degraded to “dailies only” for a while and since ever crisis came out I don’t log in much anymore. But I have a pretty good roster in it and even spent (too much) money to get A2. While the story is good the whole experience of going through a chapter without being able to speed up or skip the dialogue, and also having to complete a million path actions in a new town were just such a slog to me. But yes I still have the account and the app installed!
Hi! that will be my first gatcha shut down, although not the first gatcha that I play, I'm still playing Genshin Impact, mostly because my daughter, we play together, I love the combat dynamic and elemental reactions in that game, as well as world exploration and puzzles, as a long therm Assassin's Creed player I know how to explore one open world and collect everything very efficiently.
That said I don't recommend starting this game now, the story is very long and the game delivers in a tedious dialogs without skip button that you have to go trough and is not enjoyable to watch, on top of that there is the company, Hoyoverse, very stingy and tone deaf towards the community, they picked up most of the feedback complains we gave for years playing Genshin and applied all in their newer game: Honkay Starrail instead of fixing the problems in the game we play, that was really dirty, rewards on the new game are many times more generous than it ever was in the Genshin.
One game that is about to start soon and I'm Hyped on is Wuthering Waves, I think it has a lot of potential.

I'm a big fan of NieR but I haven't payed to Reincarnation cause it's a mobile game. 🥲 Do you think it could one day end up on console ? (It really is a disaster because it is a CANON game but I think Yoko Taro has plans for his serie and, in my opinion, NieR Reincarnation is nothing more than a transition to something else in NieR/Drakengard saga) but it still hurts... 😭 You have all my fan support ! ✨🙏🏻🙌🏻
