i mean they wanted to leave crash at CTR (thus the aliens plot) cause they felt they had exhausted all they could without it becoming stale, same with Jak & Daxter. much rather prefer that philosophy with game design than pumping out sequel after sequel every other year that's a repeat of the last
From what I read somewhere a lot of new developers that joined naughty dog in the uncharted era hated jak and daxter and wanted to make non fantasy titles aka the last of us

To me the world of jak has always felt inconsistent. The protagonists exist in a closed loop, but other than samos, we never meet the haven era sages. Furthermore, the metalhead timeline is confusing and somehow the resistance built a city at the ground zero of the assault. I have always felt that a 4th game should strive to clear up much of this side of the timeline
@@CarlosMartinez-ij7mb There is another problem in jak 2. The metalheads seem to form a contradiction. They emerged from the gate and invaded the land. Their leader implied it was the only gate. Somehow, the area immediately by the gate was cleared of metalheads, despite this being ground zero, and a city was build in this place. This becomes clear from Samos' hut being inside the city walls. Was the gate somehow resealed? we don't know. how did Samos' hut survive being the first thing any larger creature using the gate would crash through?
I have always thought that they should have went to mar for a continuation of the jak series for multiple reasons. 1: that section of the lore needs explaining, especially after 3 and ashely's comment at the end "mar? Like, the actual mar?!" after jak reveals his true name is mar. 2: if they wanted a gritty, realistic reboot, that part of the lore works great in that aspect since it was a full on war between mar and his people versus the metal head onslaught. People will die in a story like that. 3: that would give them breathing room to also have someone else to do jak 4 in the style of the original trilogy in some way, shape, or form, like sumo digital as you said. They have a good track record with Sony properties, and especially platformers in particular. They are more than likely to figure out which direction to go with out of the original trilogy to use for 4 in particular. So, have naughty dog work on the mar game, and give jak 4 to someone who would have a high likelihood to get it right like sumo digital or someone like them, and also give them the time and budget to do it, unlike what happened with high impact games and the lost frontier.
I agree with you on this one. I would love to see a new J&D game, but they need to really restart it from the beginning with a clear view of the story and lore in mind. I reckon they had some ideas of how it was all going to pan out and continue when developing the first game, but the demand to switch to the GTA style gameplay threw a spanner in works and they had to rework some things- like they had to travel to Haven City in the beginning of the 2nd game as the GTA style gameplay wouldn't fit in the colourful world they created for the first game, which had the domino effect of what ended up being a cool, but confusing story across the 3 games. I quite like that the 3rd game did attempt to bring back some of that first game feel with the temples and riding animals and more of the "old world" feel. The series has the potential to tell a great story in a world with its own cool history and lore- as long as they're clear on it from the beginning rather than just kind of winging it and making it up as they go along.
Yeah Jak 3 really combined a lot of things from the first 2 games like the way you travel from one location straight to the next one and also have the haven city gta-like missions, the eco vents and light eco, the flut flut-like leaping lizards, it was pretty cool to see stuff like that make a return
@@DemonSaine Haha, I grew up mostly with Xbox but still got to play most platformers I guess. But they really are wonderful and I can't wait to finish 'em.
I grew up with the Jak trilogy and jak 2 is my favorite game of all time and I’m looking at the comments and everyone wants to forget jak 2 and 3 which is heartbreaking. Those games were very successful and i have fond memories of them. Why on earth would people want a reboot? The games were fine on their own. Also what if they screw up the reboot? That’s gonna hurt the hardcore jak fans such as myself. The best idea would be to make a remake of the trilogy, fixing the checkpoints in jak 2, also the vehicle controls…….. and the next start would be Jak 4.
Jak II is my favorite out of the series also. It was the game from the trilogy that I ended up playing. Its sad that most fans are divided when talking about how much the series had changed over the course of 3 titles. But N D at the time were only giving what people wanted which was a more mature/darker story while everything else stayed pretty much the same. I think this had been a smart decision when trying to attract new fans but still trying to keep the ones you have however now it looks as tho that kinda backfired on them lol
@@haidenjennings9439 so true! I remember playing Jak 2 a lot. I eventually got the trilogy on ps2, even Lost Legacy. That one is tossing the story to left field.
Jak II and Jak III might have been popular with *new players to the series* but for lots of us that started with Precursor Legacy the change of game genre and the cranked up difficulty was the worst thing that happened to the series. Naughty Dogs didn't even try to be consistent, apart from Daxter's occasionnal puns nothing remained from the original game; all of a sudden the series went dark and depressive and we had to fight with guns. It became the opposite of the fun, bubbly and bright game Precursor Legacy was. Its like suddenly they thought "Hey, screw the little kids that love Precursor Legacy, let's target teens and young adults instead for the remainder of the series." If Jak II had been released several years after Jak and Daxter, it'd might have made a bit of sense to change the gameplay entirely, but it came out barely 2 years after, so that decision made no sense. I magine how confused my 7yo self was to discover that the sequel to one of my favorite game ever was nothing like the original and went from cheery platformer to dark shooting game. I was crushed. And I clearly wasn't the only one
Jak & Daxter 1 was my favourite, for the awesome artsyle and animation and the great scenery and precursor tech in a nature filled world. But even though i was taken aback by Jak 2 when it came out, i couldn't stop playing it and eneded up loving Jak 3 also for the awesome new powers and really cool vehichles. So even if i really want a continous theme starting from Jak 1, at the same time i don't want Jak 2 and 3 to not exist, i love that style too and the seeing Jak having to adapt and accept a completely different world to what he grew up in, the opening to Jak 2 was awesome in this aspect. Maybe they could do it where Jak 2 is still in the city but there is more nature around and the world looks a little brighter, they could add the ancestors of the locals from the village in the first game and have them as surprise quest givers that show up later in the game when you explore the city more "huh this guy looks familiar" and then boom ! you see thier fmaily photo or they happen to mention thier family or profession that matches one of the villigers *OG skidd mcmarx voice* "Ah what am i doing you ask? Well my family is a long line of infamous sculptors, so we gotta keep our skills from fading after our home started to change so much, oh and the pet? ....Funny thing is we also have an inkling to seek out exotic shiny pets, which is why this cute little glitter ball is hanging around, they always seem to help inspire us for some reason......Aint that right Buddy....buddy? ...oh no..where did he go!?". Daxter: *looks at us through the screen* "oof Dejavu am i Right?" Jak: *smacks daxter across the head without looking* Jak: "We will help you look for him, can't have gone far" i don't know, something like this where we have the best of both worlds. Heck you could even have a spin off where you follow kid Jak back to the past where he grows up in the village and you playthrough the story that leads up to Jak & Daxter 1, even experiencing the moment Daxter gets changed into an Ottsel........Or just make another Jak X with Insomniac and Naughtydog characters as Special guest racers. so many ways they could go about this. we just need another studio to take the wheel like Toys for Bob or Vicarious Visions as they have done a great job proving that this can be done right.
It'd be easier to just give Jak and Daxter to another company. It seems clear Naughty Dog is moving away from it, but they can't keep it up forever. Sony is already taking interest in reviving some of their Playstation IPs... not only we have Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and Medevil back... but also God of War going strong. All we're missing is Ape Escape, Parappa the Rapper, Twisted Metal, and Killzone (There are others but these are ones most people remember.)
THANK YOU! We all need to come together to make it happen. I cannot stand seeing my favorite duo being left on the side like that. We need a Jak Remake or a Jak 4.
Soft Reboot where you play as the kid Jak that went back in time but something when wrong and things changes with a new timeline. Like a Flashpoint Paradox kind of story. This way you keep the original timeline intact while you play a new timeline with Young Jak in Sandover Village. I always prefer Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy over the sequels. I want colors and fun environments. Hated the gray, edgy tone of Jak II and 3.
To be honest, I think they could easily incorporate all things jak & daxter, (Including "Daxter", "Jak X", and "Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier") Simply by doing something akin to Ratchet & Clanks multiverse/Crash Bandicoots multiverse/Sonic Generations. All they'd need to do, is send Jak back to Sandover Village through the rift, and have them bring back Gol and Mia. Samos even said, "Yes... Gol and Mia... The dark eco... PROBABLY destroyed them...". You could interact with all the sages now at their villages, Kiera could become the dark eco sage, Gol and Mia could go through a time rift like Jak did and mess with time. There are SO MANY possibilities!
As an extremely huge Jak fan for the past 20 years I use to only want a jak 4. but Now I think the best thing would be do what crash/spyro did and just remake the games keep everything ultimately the same mechanically and just update graphics and quality of life stuff. Blue point I think would be an amazing choice as they have recently shown with demon souls. that way the games are still great for the original fans and the games are good for the modern new gamer because ultimately imho these games still hold up fairly well and the issues people have with them can be easily fixed. it'll catch people up to the current story/lore and then you can finally release a 4th jak game because the longer time goes on without a new game the more the original trilogy goes into obscurity and is out of the publics mind which makes it harder for them to consider making a jak 4 as it wouldn't be profitable.
It's dead in the grave out of respect for the past. Everything Sony could want in Jak they can get in Ratchet and Clank. There's no need to risk Jaks legacy. Naughty Dog has Uncharted and the Last of Us
Playing Kena Bridge of Spirits made me realise how incredible a reimagining of The Precursor Legacy could be. With bigger/added levels and maybe a more fleshed out plot it could be the perfect game. Or even if it was just a Spyro Reignited style remake it would still be amazing to play.
I know this is far-fetched but I think Ember Lab would be perfect to make new Jak & Daxter. Kena: Bridge of Spirits reminds me of TPL and the art style fits a lot more than realistic Last Of Us or Uncharted.
I'd love few things more than a new _Jak & Daxter_ game, and since Sony owns the IP, Naughty Dog wouldn't necessarily need to make it. Now on the one hand, it would be somewhat disheartening to see the next proper J&D entry without their logo on the cover, but on the other, I'm not exactly eager for it to come from a development studio co-headed by one Neil "We Don't Use the Word ‘Fun’" Druckmann.
it is possible to do realistic gritty and high fantasy at the same time. We can have realistic Jak and Daxter and a talking animal. These things don't really null each other
Honestly, if they do a new Jak game, I want it to be a reboot. As much as I love the trilogy, the story got out of hand with the infinite timeloop in 2 and the future stuff It went from light-hearted platformer to serious action-platformer and it was always odd to me as a kid
Personally I’d like to see a remake trilogy like crash and Spyro but instead of just having jak 1, 2 and three I’d throw daxter’s solo game in there too since it takes place between jak 1 and 2
With the whole time loop story line there is actually so much grounds to do a "and then a big three part saga started when the time loop was broken and new Jak had to deal with all this weird new stuff aided by his alternative timeline future self". i think it would be a really cool balance if you had Arkham style game play for the older Jak and a more Platformy aproach for reboot Jak, all you've got to do is look at all the vast sprawling cities that you could never explore to know that it would work perfectly,
Man, this makes want to play the Jak & Daxter series again, I need this game on my PS4 file, was so fun, especially Jak x, and I still hope a new Jak 4 game comes, hey if Crash is getting a 4th game, Spyro too, maybe Jak can as well, right?,……., right!?! :D
I think that Jak and Daxter should come back as a reboot. They could look back on what made the games great, but they could reimagining the story from the originals just like Ratchet and Clank on PS4. It won’t be Naughty Dog developing it. It has to be a different studio. This studio could be interested in remaking and remastering classic PlayStation games for modern hardware. I would love for them to also remake or remaster Ape Escape or Jumping Flash 1/2.
Jak and Daxter is one of my most beloved childhood franchises. Absolutely adored the first game, and still do! Honestly, I'd take anything Jak and Daxter-related, though personally, I'd love it if they did a faithful remake of the first game, with an art style that kinda marries both Crash 4's, and that of a Pixar film, and then they can make an entirely new sequel that goes in a completely new direction afterwards. Really though, I just wanna see them come back. I would cry tears of joy the moment they return lol
If they were to bring back Jak and Daxter they could take the god of war approach and do a soft reboot and give us a new style of gameplay, keep the core elements of what people loved about the originals and expand upon it but also make it fresh. Heck they could even consult with Cory Barlog to give them pointers on how to go about it.
If you want another example of a platforming game doing well, don't forget that the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger games are also doing pretty well for a series of that size. The original games are getting re-releases and support still. Wouldn't be surprised that once they're done porting Ty 3 to everything and polishing it we'll hear an announcement of Ty 5. For those that don't know yes, there was a Ty 4. It was a smaller 2D sidescrolling game that made Krome Studios enough money to bring the first game forward onto current consoles, Steam, etc and actually work on it in order to ensure it's a good port. Which then sold enough for them to be able to do the same with the second game, and so on. As for Jak and Daxter; my understanding is Sony does own the IP, and theoretically someone other than Naughty Dog could make a Jak game, I mean technically someone else already has twice. But I've always heard unconfirmed rumors that ND not only have first dibs but somehow have to give an OK before another studio can make an attempt? I don't know why that would be, maybe some part of the contract from when Sony bought ND. But again this is just rumors and "they said they said...", with never saying who "they" even are, that I've heard in my years dipping my toes in the fandom. So take it with a full shaker of salt. But assuming that little tidbit does have some truth to it. With how in some interviews Naughty Dog staff seem to talk about how the industry is now too mature for cartoony games at all, and we only need super realistic HBO dramas, or whatever. Yeah I could see them vetoing a Jak game by someone else.
A remaster of 2 would be fantastic. So much room to explore. Much preferred the take on totalitarianism instead of the arghhhhh evil aliens are coming to get us bullshit.
Truthfully, I think all of the games were well done as far as the story was concerned. I do have my reservations about Jak 2, but I think that was because Naughty Dog was trying to figure the right balance and direction to go. I think steering more towards the adventure aspect as opposed to the more GTA drive and shoot approach, as they did in Jak 3, was an excellent move. Jak X was also a nice side story. I wouldn't want another purely racing title for the franchise, but it was still fun to see that story unfold. As for the PSP titles, I was only able to play a little bit of Daxter before my PSP stopped working, but it was another good side story that bridged the gap between the first two games. The gameplay was more like the first game as opposed to the second, if I recall correctly. I ended up getting the PS2 port of the Lost Frontier, and I loved it! Not only did it show how the heroic trio in the game were evolving and coming into their own, it also showed that there was potential to expand the lore to an even greater degree, leaving a cliffhanger at the end that made me crave more. Even to this day, I boot up my PS2 to replay this lovable series, and I will happily acquire any title that continues it.
Look, with how Naughtydog handled TLOU2 do you really think they're sane enough to bring back Jak and Daxter. They're probably thinking that Ubisoft's way of handling Rayman was a great idea without noticing how Assassins Creed was kinda dropping in the parkour aspect which used to be the biggest selling point.
i wish they hadn't have made Jak X. i am not a fan of racing games, sure they had missions with racing i made it through but i never got through Jak X. too difficult. i really wanted to know the story line but i didn't want to have to slog through all the horribly hard races to get there. love all the other Jak and Daxter games, if they wanted to add some more adventures to any of them i would love it. kinda like a credit scene but a playable level or levels. like whip cream on your dessert kinda thing.
As much as I love ultra gritty classics and darker stories like soul reaver and silent hill I wouldn't want Jak and Daxter to go that route. I could see it working with an atmosphere like Metal Gear Rising era MGS, darker atmosphere but still campy and occasional humor. Even then I'm still not sure how the series would work with more "grit".
Jak 4 was meant to be a reboot done by NaughtyDog but instead of a reboot they should just make a proper follow up after Jak 3 and take inspiration from Insomniac's Ratchet and Clank Rift apart.
The problem is including the concept of "Mar", ramblings of more adventures ahead and that Jak X ending with Rayn there's no way to make a follow up a new audience can get into in 202x, Insomniac actually were kinda lucky with how ItN story ended because their idea for RA fit with how they could continue from the original timeline instead following the movie/2016 instead. It's one of the reasons despite some flawed aspects of the execution is why RaC after deadlocked (main series anyway) changed story direction but kept trying to add to the core gameplay. Bringing back Jak with this logic in mind is going to annoy a decent part of the fanbase no matter what no matter how well executed it is.
I loooved Jak and Daxter as a kid! Still do. I remember being so confused and frustrated with the direction the series took in Jak 2, I could never like the sequel as much as the 1st game considering they didn't feel like the same series. They were too different, not even the same genre anymore. Took me years to actually finish Jak 2 and Jak 3 because I didn't like the gameplay and the difficulty had been cranked up exponentially compared to Precursor Legacy. If they reboot the series, I really hope they stick closer to Jak and Daxter rather than the sequels cause that was the best game out of the 3 imo
I think the announced remake/remaster/reboot is going to be Twisted Metal. It has a TV series coming out, and there are unconfirmed reports that a PS5 exclusive will release in 2023 by the studio that made Destruction All-Stars. The first 2 games take place on Christmas Eve, so announcing around that time makes sense too.
I would do a complete reboot with an updated form of its original art style, change only a few things in the story to make it feel new and head the story in a slightly better direction.
What they NEED to do is get everyone who was involved with making the first 3 games together to make the 4th game. also they HAVE to keep to its roots. The cartoon like style is what made the game so popular and successful. We don’t want a realistic type J&D that’s not the roots of the game. The real fans want jak 4 to feel like a continuation of the 3rd just with modern cartoon graphics that compliment the original series. As a jak fan who grew up on all 3 games I would be HIGHLY disappointed to play and J&D game that was realistic. That’s not how the game was. so doing that would ruin the game. stick to the roots and explain more on mar. Doing it this way it’s bound to be very successful in sales and a great game overall plus the OG fans would be very satisfied. their doing the same with Spyro.
Jak and Daxter was a great series, and seeing the return of many early PS mascots and games return in recent years gives me hope for a new game, maybe it needs to be undertaken by a new developer that has a clearer vision of what they want from the start The world has always been interesting, and maybe that needs to be a main focal point. We just finsihed a Jak and Daxter playthrough on our channel. Still amazing games that hold up. A new game has a lot to live up to
Jak and Daxter games back then just hit different than any other game for me. I think it would be hard for naughty dog to replicate or go beyond what they've accomplished with these legendary titles in the past. Not saying it's impossible but I really don't want to see a new one slapped together just to shut people up. Fingers crossed we get blessed with another Jak and Daxter masterpiece someday.
Game Nr. 2 felt already like a soft reboot for me, it was soo differrent in mamy aspects for me. But afterall all 3 are all platflormers the hover races, secrets and guns (& pointy ears ;P)
It's been "three whole console generations" since the last Jak & Daxter game debut, *IT'S WELL OVER TIME TO BRING THE JAK & DAXTER IP BACK FROM THE DEAD..* 😕
hot take: I want to see a Jak and Daxter 2 get made. Not jak 2, but a new sequel to the first game. Forget about jak 2 and 3. I want the J&D 2 to have a focus on pretty environments, platforming, punch and kick combat, eco mechanics, new interesting levels, revisits to old levels. Bring back collectables and even include a little mission structure like jak 2 had. Make a new antagonist if they have to, or just bring back gol and maia. Bring back the 4 sages and develop those characters. Let the sages serve as eco upgrades as they teach jak new stuff thru the game. Bring back the sculptor, the farmer, bird watcher, uncle, and geologist. That's my dream
This is what I think the issue is with Jak and Daxter. It is my fav game series of all time however, it came out at an interesting time when Naughty Dog obviously wanted to make games more aimed at an older audience than previously however, graphics hadn't caught up quite yet to the realism that came after. Unfortunately I think the essence of Jak 2 and Jak 3 carried over onto the Uncharted series and if you think about it, it makes sense. I would love to see the Jak series come back, but there is no way of knowing what it would look like, would they keep it in a cartoon-esc style would they go for realism, you can see the issue. The Jak series has a bit of an identity crisis and exists in limbo in a very transitional period for video games. Ratchet and Clank translates far easier as the style was well established with it being more like a cartoon rather than realism straight from the get go, so it wasn't hard to bring it to the modern era without losing what makes it feel like a Ratchet and Clank game, if that makes any sense. I think the concern is, how do you bring Jak into the modern era without losing the charm it had.
Imho the best thing would be have the trilogy be remade in the same vain as crash/Spyro/demon souls/etc where it still carries everything we love and hardly changes much other than quality of life. That way the series is re introduced to the public and it’ll please both new and old fans. Then if all sales are solid it would then make more sense for a 4th game to be made and at that point find the original writer and key team members on board with that project.
One of my favorite ps2 games by far! I would love to see the first game rebooted and remastered. Give it a clear vision, but don't stray too far from what the game originally was, and it'll be an instant hit.
If Jak 4 will be in same art style that looked like Jak 1,Jak 2 and 3, mayyyybee lost frontier and Daxter would have his sassy comments in the game like Jak 1 2 and 3, it would be good.
Well, I’m glad Jak and Dexter is turning 20 in December, later this year. The game awards is coming to December this year, too. I hope the PlayStation mascots do deserve a comeback, and a revival. Same as Sly Cooper 5, which is in development for the PlayStation 5, Twisted Metal is a PS5 exclusive, same as Destruction AllStars, and I know Spyro 4 is a rumor.
I wouldn't want a reboot. I'd like a continuation since there's so much they could do with the lore. They should emphasize platforming and exploration more than guns in a Jak 4, though. I could see them bringing back Gol and Maia somehow and explaining the House of Mar.
The Jak fanbase is either not big enough or not loud enough. I don't see any Jak super fans or YT channels all about Jak. It's a niche audience like fans of Pac-Man World and Kao I'd argue Jak is just less popular than most other beloved platformer characters.
Daxter could still talk they would just have to make it is one default eco power possibly adding more prevalence to Finding the dark eco Sage. Because they don’t know how long before he stops being anthropomorphic Ie Daxter being a dunce at the basic channeling eco while Jak being extremely talented at it.
Loved 2 and 3 but that first game is one of my favorites of all time. Would give anything for a remake or a new game in that style. Some of my best memories came from playing that game with my big brother. We need now!
Also it was going to be made but other fans kept complaining that it's not cartoony enough like the original series they don't want it realistic it would look too freaky to scary. But what they don't realize is that it was going to be a reboot so of course it was going to change but as krew would always say Ah well.
Never quite understood why the ideas that led to Jak & Daxter couldn't have led to a Crash game. You said it yourself, The Precursor Legacy is everything Twinsanity wanted to be. Imo the game could've very easily become a Crash game instead of a new franchise.
Everytime a State of Play happens I hope for a Jak & Daxter remake lol I don't get why SONY isn't remaking it when it's legit 20 years old Some of us now have kids that are old enough to play it tbh Thank you for this video though
Everyone: “we’re sick of sequels and reboots, give us something new, companies are creatively bankrupt, why do we get a CoD game ever year?” Also everyone: “more sequels and reboots please”
Not a good comparison. CoD is every year. The last Jak game was well over a decade ago, and since a lot of people don't count Lost Frontier, it was 15 years ago.
@@whiskeycompany13 Fair enough, but it's still about time for a new Jak game given that it's been over a decade. Whether counting Lost Frontier or Jak X as the last game, or Jak 3 as the last platformer.
I was always more into Ratchet and clank back in the day when I was growing up, my older bro bought ever Ratchet game in the original Trilogy on the PS2, This is side note PS2 is my favourite console of all time, So glad I grew up with that console and it's games
I would love a remake or reboot. HOWEVER! Precursor Legacy is a must. It is my absolute favourite of the trilogy (I do still love the other two) so I would be devastated if it wasn't included in some way. I would love a reboot trilogy that followed the same game progression as the originals. Precursor Legacy style first, then the start of an edgier/darker story and then split the difference a bit.
I have finished all the jak and daxter games and I must say jak and daxter trilogy is my favourite playstation 3 game of all time I wish we could see a live action or a 3d animated movie as soon as possible
I have so many good memories of playing Jak II. It was one of the first PS2 games I've ever played. Would love to see it ether rebooted or remastered :)
Honestly one of my favourite franchises. Definitely deserves a new game.
I hope the jak4 rumours are true
Even jakX was a beast game when it came out some might go as far as to say it was better online than nfs the heat 😆
Me to I loved all their games

2:50 Everyone who has been begging for a new Jak game in a nutshell.
more accurate would be 2:52 ;-)
Still remember playing the first Jak and Daxter
As a long time Spyro fan, I couldn't agree more.
@@DemonSaine I have all 3 Jak and Daxter games but haven't finished 2 yet or even played 3 at all. All of that sounds so awesome!
@@Beregond1861 how have you not played them yet lol they’re amazing games and such a big twist coming from the first one. can’t wait until you play it
@@DemonSaine Haha, I grew up mostly with Xbox but still got to play most platformers I guess.
I started with the 1st game back then and definitely think Jak II is my favorite. It was so different but in a cool and unexpected way.
Maybe they could do it where Jak 2 is still in the city but there is more nature around and the world looks a little brighter, they could add the ancestors of the locals from the village in the first game and have them as surprise quest givers that show up later in the game when you explore the city more "huh this guy looks familiar" and then boom ! you see thier fmaily photo or they happen to mention thier family or profession that matches one of the villigers
*OG skidd mcmarx voice*
"Ah what am i doing you ask? Well my family is a long line of infamous sculptors, so we gotta keep our skills from fading after our home started to change so much, oh and the pet? ....Funny thing is we also have an inkling to seek out exotic shiny pets, which is why this cute little glitter ball is hanging around, they always seem to help inspire us for some reason......Aint that right Buddy....buddy? ...oh no..where did he go!?".
Daxter: *looks at us through the screen* "oof Dejavu am i Right?"
Jak: *smacks daxter across the head without looking*
Jak: "We will help you look for him, can't have gone far"
i don't know, something like this where we have the best of both worlds.
Wish they would make a new twisted metal
@@idefrodo777 There are rumors of a new Twisted Metal game.
It kills me that such a legendary franchise gets hardly any recognition these days.
THANK YOU! We all need to come together to make it happen. I cannot stand seeing my favorite duo being left on the side like that. We need a Jak Remake or a Jak 4.
Yes definitely
Soft Reboot where you play as the kid Jak that went back in time but something when wrong and things changes with a new timeline. Like a Flashpoint Paradox kind of story. This way you keep the original timeline intact while you play a new timeline with Young Jak in Sandover Village.
I always prefer Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy over the sequels. I want colors and fun environments. Hated the gray, edgy tone of Jak II and 3.
Bro that is such a sick idea! Imagine if young Jak got to stay in the past and we finally saw what was behind that precursor door
Behind that door was that time travel device
Honestly I really really really really want Jak & Daxter to come back because it’s a popular game so yeah I really really really really want them back

If Jak and Daxter ever gets any new game it better keep a cartoon animation style as it has. Otherwise it’s not Jak and Daxter
I grew up on this game, it's amazing. I would love to see a reboot of this game and see what they come up with.
These things don't really null each other
I’d would love to see a reboot, jak and daxter has been one of my favorite games and I still go back and play them
I didnt really enjoy the 1st game too much. But absolutely loved Jak 2 and 3.

Haaaaaa I'm surprised someone actually that series especially from Netflix 😊
@@raphaelbrown6314 it’s a good show… aside from the rushed ending
I just want a jak 4 with the same charm it's my favourite series
Honestly, if they do a new Jak game, I want it to be a reboot. As much as I love the trilogy, the story got out of hand with the infinite timeloop in 2 and the future stuff
It went from light-hearted platformer to serious action-platformer and it was always odd to me as a kid
We still missing Rayman as well.
Ubisoft didn't do ANYTHING for his 25th last year, I think they don't care about him anymore.
I always thought that the first Jak & daxter was somewhat influenced by Crash in a way
I’m asking the same thing, except, it’s the Director’s Cut of Robots! XD
as in Robots the movie tie-in game? If so I am craving one too.
I still have them for the ps2
If they were to bring back Jak and Daxter they could take the god of war approach and do a soft reboot and give us a new style of gameplay, keep the core elements of what people loved about the originals and expand upon it but also make it fresh.
Heck they could even consult with Cory Barlog to give them pointers on how to go about it.
I would love it if they continued off where Jak 3 was. Barring some references to the racing game as some side story thay existed
No offense, but that would be lame. That classic style of gameplay, albeit more polished, is exactly what I would want.
This was the game that made me realize I loved video games and was the first one I did on my youtube
They would need to update the controls a bit. They are pretty outdated.
Did it ever come out what beloved classic remake was being worked on.
Lol, I was just binge watching Jak & daxter videos xd
I would do a complete reboot with an updated form of its original art style, change only a few things in the story to make it feel new and head the story in a slightly better direction.
Chilling at sandover beach is my idea of heaven
Jak and Daxter was a great series, and seeing the return of many early PS mascots and games return in recent years gives me hope for a new game, maybe it needs to be undertaken by a new developer that has a clearer vision of what they want from the start
The world has always been interesting, and maybe that needs to be a main focal point.
Where in the WORLD is Carmen Sandiego?! 😂😂
@Merrick73Baby No. It had interesting levels.
I wanna see a reboot of the first game at least, made by toys for bob.
Don’t judge, a man can dream
Imho the best thing would be have the trilogy be remade in the same vain as crash/Spyro/demon souls/etc where it still carries everything we love and hardly changes much other than quality of life. That way the series is re introduced to the public and it’ll please both new and old fans. Then if all sales are solid it would then make more sense for a 4th game to be made and at that point find the original writer and key team members on board with that project.
Jak as well as Ape Escape and Parappa are well overdue for a new game.
One of my favorite ps2 games by far! I would love to see the first game rebooted and remastered. Give it a clear vision, but don't stray too far from what the game originally was, and it'll be an instant hit.
Yeah the first jak and daxter was the first ps2 game I played.
If Jak 4 will be in same art style that looked like Jak 1,Jak 2 and 3, mayyyybee lost frontier and Daxter would have his sassy comments in the game like Jak 1 2 and 3, it would be good.
dont forget that lost frontier wasnt made by naughty dog so theres always hope for another studio
It's a niche audience like fans of Pac-Man World and Kao
I'd argue Jak is just less popular than most other beloved platformer characters.
The game being rumored by bluepoint is unfortunately fortunately Bloodborne reboot and it’s sequel.
One of My favourite childhood games.
Everytime a State of Play happens I hope for a Jak & Daxter remake lol
I don't get why SONY isn't remaking it when it's legit 20 years old

Everyone: “we’re sick of sequels and reboots, give us something new, companies are creatively bankrupt, why do we get a CoD game ever year?”
Also everyone: “more sequels and reboots please”
Not a good comparison. CoD is every year. The last Jak game was well over a decade ago, and since a lot of people don't count Lost Frontier, it was 15 years ago.
@@dapperfan44 ok then. the exact same comment, but the cod part is removed.
@@whiskeycompany13 Fair enough, but it's still about time for a new Jak game given that it's been over a decade. Whether counting Lost Frontier or Jak X as the last game, or Jak 3 as the last platformer.

I have so many good memories of playing Jak II. It was one of the first PS2 games I've ever played. Would love to see it ether rebooted or remastered :)
I’d honestly play whatever jak an daxter they came out with reboot, remake, don’t matter that game was my childhood
I absolutely loved the first Jak & Daxter so much. I've never played a Sly Cooper title though.
Jak is in trouble, I am getting worried, but in the mean time, I want Daxter (prequel to Jak 2).
