- Stormy Cityscape and Rainy Night in Manhattan, New York for sleep and study. The rain didn't last very long, but there was still some good thunder sounds. Video was filmed at 27 stories for the view but audio was captured at 15 stories for better listening. For privacy purposes many of the windows in this video with a lot of activity have been converted to still images. This video has a view of Midtown facing North during a thunderstorm. It features sounds of sirens, people talking, traffic and more.

I already listened to it like 5 or 6 times, I just put it on loop. If I remove my headphones, the absence of soundscape makes it dull.
Is not the best views of new york in reality, my floor was with a point of view of the the famous buildings much bigger and more higher.
There is something so soothing about cities at night knowing that people are still around doing their things, it feels comforting. I live in an Italian province and the absolute silence drives me crazy
I get you but in the big cities sound never ends, some times it drives you crazy but sometimes it gives good vibes. I was shocked when I moved to a small town at the university in Cappadocia because there was absolute silence sometimes and it felt relaxing in a way. I love both ambiances.

Sound of the big city is kinda nice, don't think I would be able to live in a small town, but sometimes it's a bit annoying, specially if you live in downtown area.

One of my favorite memories is sprinting down 7th Ave in a thunderstorm just like this to get back to my hotel. Hearing the thunder bounce off the buildings was an insane experience

I think one of the coolest part of this video is slowly watching the windows and lights dim down the later it gets. Just like watching the city start to quiet down a little bit.
watching this video reminds me of the time i was in new york for a business meeting , my room was in a luxury hotel at the 35th floor , i woke up in the middle of the night and went over to the window and drew open the curtains , i remember it was snowing and there was snow scattered around my window , it was such an amazing and soothing sight , there was steam coming out of vents over buildings and i could hear the distant wailing of sirens just like in this video . I made myself a cup of coffee and took a chair beside the window , enoying the beautiful sight of falling snowflakes skyscrapers as far as the eyes can see , after finishing my coffee i went to bed and had the most amazing sleep.

@@junkjournaldavao If you can drink coffee before sleeping... you may have ADHD. It's not diagnostic by any means, but caffeine actually having a calming effect is very common amongst people like me.

The City that Never Sleeps. So happy to call it home. It has bad things but so many good things. That red light going off and on is epic. The word NOMADIC on the lower left is "final truth." We are the urban nomads. Every single lit window is New York minute in the making. Every window light that goes out is a story going to sleep I have a folder with all New York clips. You are going to the top of the list.
I'm working in Germany and it's too quiet at night so I play this to help me fall asleep.

I've been studying for a graduate school entrance exam for the past few weeks and lost my focus, this increased my focus and attention by so much that it's crazy. I'm not sure why, but listening to white noise of cities helps me. I just play this in the background with some soft music and I'm in another world. I especially love the sound of distant sirens.

This is insane. I had a business trip to NYC earlier this month (December). I spent multiple hours close to my hotel window where my desk was set to review documents, slides, notes, etc. The feeling and sounds are exactly the same. Loved this.
There are people who like birds, people who like the sea, people who like meadows. Those who fall asleep to the wind brushing the leaves, to rain hitting the patio and to crickets playing their evening serenade.
I am not one of those people.
I prefer to fall asleep to a different serenade; one of sirens and horns. To that unmistakable, ever present atonal hum. The kind of subtle background noise that makes the quiet of the country simply unnerving.
Thank you so much for these ambience videos. I live in a city, and would rather never leave it, but when I must, it’s nice to fall asleep to familiar sounds.

rain + new york is my favourtite ambience of all time, just slight rain while getting back to my hotel after visitig the MOMA was pure bliss, and a hot chocolate in my warm room with the window opened was even better

The sound of rain makes me very relaxed. I like walking in the rain, listening to the sound of rain falling on my umbrella and recording it. Sleeping at night gives me a few minutes to sleep.
I miss New York TERRIBLY and this video surely isn't helping. :P I live in Los Angeles and we seldom get beautiful weather like this, but every time I've been to New York (I've only ever gone in summertime), I've experienced these epic thunderstorms and they never cease to thrill me.
