I am absolutely baffled by this take. It does nothing that they didn't do better, and in the case of Orion many multitudes better, in their past instrumentals...
@@MasterRyan97 I couldn't disagree more! 😂 I guess that's the beauty of music. But for me, Death Magnetic has some of Kirk's worst solos. Everyone goes crazy for Unforgiven 3, but I think it's sloppy, generic, lacking melody and structure (two places where his classic solos shined), the tone's crap and drenched it too much wah even by his standards, and the only decent part of the solo is him repeating the main riff. I much, much prefer Hardwired. In fact, I prefer Load over DM, and I think it's not close. Songwriting's much better.
@@leerobbo92 Yeah, everyone's opinion is definitely different! I can kinda see how it lacks melody though throughout the songs on DM. But Unforgiven 3 is my fav song from Metallica mainly because of the solo. It always gives me chills! A lot of the songs are like that on this record for me. Hardwired is good. I feel like the riffs are very melodic in Hardwired, but the solos aren't as memorable to me. I like it though. I think I prefer 72 Seasons over Hardwired honestly. Hardwired has my favorite guitar tone though! Load is amazing. Always loved that record. Always excited when they play some of the songs from Load/Reload era. The mixing and mastering is probably the best as well. It's very fun to listen to.
What if I told you there are actually two versions of this song...the JH version and the KH version. James and Kirk recorded longer solos, but due to time constraints, they cut them in half and slammed the two sections together. The first part of the solo is the first half + the last lick of James' solo and then it goes into the first half + the last lick of Kirk's solo. The Death Magnetic DLC for Guitar Hero Metallica included the two versions with the full solos intact.
I could never put it over lightning, master or justice but there's definitely an argument for it being better than kill em all. It's a great album I think just the production let it down
@@imagereflection4826 I know it's trendy to hate on the Black Album, but there isn't a hope in hell's chance that anyone in their right mind thinks DM is better.
This will always be one of my favourite songs from Death Magnetic and one of my favourite instrumentals, it's so damn good and plus all those riffs are just top notch (not to mention one of James's absolute best solos, that man just goes off and it's great)
i actually was pretty impressed with this one after listening, i think i like it more than ktulu but not as much as orion, the switch at 5:00 from this mellow into happy is so good also pls can you play call of ktulu for the utubes
There's actually 2 versions of this song. The other version was released on Guitar Hero Metallica. The other version is considered the James Hetfield version. The one you just played is the Kirk Hammet version. Just an FYI.
This song has to be in my top 3 of all-time by Metallica. The instrumentation really tells you a powerful story without lyrics.
Mine too

@@leerobbo92 the build up, breakdowns, and epic solos was brilliant on many Death Magnetic songs including Suicide and Redemption.

James' solo in this song is def one of my fav metallica solos overall
This is one of my all time favorite Metallica songs.
To live is to die would have to be my favorite do to the pure emotion behind it
I just rediscovered how amazing the middle of this song is a couple days ago.
People tell me I'm crazy but Death Magnetic is an Top 3 Metallica Album
We might be crazy, but we're right
I’d say top 4. Puppetz, justice and lightning are elite
I could never put it over lightning, master or justice but there's definitely an argument for it being better than kill em all. It's a great album I think just the production let it down

Fun fact: that first solo before the wah insanity is actually james's solo !
timestamp?
edit: just got there now anyway, thanks haha
Best is a stretch just due to the competition. But its a fucking sick ass song for sure
I always listen each week, it's really good this music

Love this song! 🤘
i love this song
Always loved this song! Merciful fate on garage inc is another long masterpiece!
one of my favorite metallica songs, probably top 5
Killer! 🤘🏼
that James Hetfield Solo

Still my favorite Metallica song and maybe Death Magnetic is my favorite Metallica album.
... Have you only ever listened to Death Magnetic? That's the only sane explanation.
@leerobbo92 Don't worry I have listened to all of their albums. I just really like the songs.
To live is to die has to be number 1 with Orion close second in my humble opinion

You should try do Chimaira instruments of destruction I think that is the best instrumental ever
Puppets, justice, lightning, kill em all, then maybe death magnetic, 72, hardwired, black album
This entire album is in Rocksmith+ now 🤷♂
Mercyful fate ftw for best instrumental
Only reason you've never played it is because it's over the time limit. :D
I'd day its better than to live is to die but no way ahead of orion or ktulu
My opinion this honestly should have ended the album
Your title = wrong
This is probably their worst instrumental lol
true but it is hard to compete against Anesthesia, Call of Kthulu, Orion or Live is to Die. I personally like it
L
That doesn't even make it bad, think of the competition
I love how James Hetfield sounds in this one!
