Ryan. as a kenyan, kisumu is a safe rural area, continue mixing with locals and they will hapiily accept you to their community and trust me no one will touch you. those sides they burn thieves. i know you may be used to individualism in the west but here people are a community and knowing locals will be a huge advantage. have a lovely stay

I like how the physical environment is not all divided up by roads, you can just wander in the communities and still be among nature at the same time. That is something that is lost in the concrete jungles of the West (and Japan too).

Pro tip: Man, walking around alone, in the dark in rural Africa is NOT a great idea. Trust me, I'm South African and we know these things. It's not a question of 'if' but 'when'...camera, phone...maybe your life. Not worth it. As for drinking in taverns, same rules apply. Things can get real radical real quick when the guys have had a few too many. Enjoyed the captions, improves the viewing experience & adds some spice :-)

@@Mantaray911 He has pretty much said that he does not feel safe. Before too long (if not already) everybody will know who this lone white dude is carrying camera gear, phones and a wad of cash is. It's a pretty poor place with a lot of unemployment and restless youth. They will know his travel patterns, and it's just a matter of time before he gets rolled if he is not careful. Not to be critical, but this is just the reality of living in a place like this.

I first came across your channel when I was preparing for a move to Kobe (from the UK). I lived in Japan for about 5 and a half years and I lot of your content really resonated with me! I love the place but it drives me crazy in many ways too...
Anyway, I am impressed by your adventurousness, seems like you are getting the most out of life! Mixing it up! I've always been fascinated by Africa but a little scared to go, so I am, to some extent, experiencing it vicariously through you! Kenya is a pretty safe country, big British presence and influence, economically, culturally and in security training and military cooperation.
Tons of expats in Nairobi and Mombassa, huge Indian presence as they were brought in as helpers by the British colonial power and stayed after independence. Great shopping malls where expats go to, although the occasional target of Somalis,

while it must be amazing to be in Africa that sure does not look a foreigner can just relax there .. i mean if you cant even enjoy just being there and going for a walk around that makes it too much hard work ... for most foreigners i imagine it would be hard to find happiness in a place like that where you constantly got to watch your back and look over your shoulder.. ..unless you get to know some locals and become good friends with them ... then.who can you trust there . ?
