  • This tutorial is an easy guide to Cattleya orchid care. Cattleyas are easy growing orchids which donot die easily. They are very resilient in terms of low light dry conditions and low humidity.

    Basic care for cattleya orchids
    Light requirements
    Cattleyas need bright filtered light for proper growth and blooms. Keep them in bright shade so that they can grow well and bloom profusely
    Water
    Cattleyas are high water orchids as they need high amount of water. but they can tolerate dry conditions for days without showing any stress
    Humidity
    Catleyas are high humidity orchids. They can tolerate a wide range of humidity and are resilient to low humidity
    Fertilizer
    The hybrids need continuous fertilizing all throughout the year for vigorous growth
    Potting
    Pot your cattleyas in big chunks of bark , charcoal,brick pieces and a water rertaining medium like sphagnum moss.

    Very informative video . Cattleyas are my favorite orchids . I live in the Tropics so thats how i care for mine.

    I bought two cattleya seedlings before 6 months. I could not see any new growth still. What should i do mam?

      Orchids take some time to adjust to the new environment bcoz their previous environment was different where they were growing. It is normal for orchids to take time to adjust. Seedlings are more vulnerable. Since it's spring you will see new growth very soon. Keep watering them. Keep them in bright shade. Maintain humidity level with a humidity tray if it's less than 70% in your area. If possible grow them outside or try to collect rainwater and water orchids with it. I am sure your Cattleyas will grow well. Gud luck 👍
