Crazily enough, the Coens did write Buscemi's and Goodman's parts with those particular actors in mind, but didn't have a clue who they wanted to play The Dude. But I agree, it is as if it was written for him and only him in mind. I can't imagine another actor even coming close to nailing it like Bridges did.
Richard Peterson was well know to many that went to Seattle concerts in the late 70's and well into the 80's. He was outside busking his trumpet at most shows. They had him as guest on the rock radio stations many times as well. A bonafide character. Jeff's quick impersonation was dead on.
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is either my favorite, or second favorite movie, depending on which day I think about it. I have never heard that wonderful story before and it's made my day! Jeff Bridges is a treasure.
Richard Peterson. Holy Hell. I’m from Seattle. He used to open punk shows. He opened for DOA and played Hungry Like The Wolf playing piano and Trumpet at the same time
Sea Hunt was my favorite show on TV when it ran. It is amazing the to think of how they could have made so many great stories out of scuba diving. Loved it.
Honestly, now I want a gritty underwater adventure called "Son of Son of SeaHunt" where Jeff passes the SeaHunt baton down to another generation, complete with trumpet cues.
SEA-HUNT {original run} was my favorite show growing up as a kid! it inspired me to become a certified diver on my 14th birthday in the summer of 1969. missed a chance to be a Navy SEAL while serving in the US Navy but still went on to become a successful professional diver
2:34 that trumpet imitation was so real it fooled me 😃 I was looking away from the screen at that moment and genuinely thought that a trumpet payed on the show, all of a sudden 😀
Seeing as it’s TIFF in Toronto 13 years ago I’m covering TIFF as a journalist. I’m Absolutely exhausted leaning against the wall outside a fancy hotel after yet another press conference. There’s a limo sitting barely an arms length away The window rolls down and it’s Jeff Bridges “Hey man. I just wanted to say hi. You having a good festival? You look like you’re going hard. I appreciate what you do” I could barely believe it. Firstly because it was just so kind, and secondly it was THE DUDE.
The Dude for President 2024! But, really, JB has such a body of work from The Last Picture Show, to his Oscar winning portrayal in CrazyHeart, to Starman, Against All Odds, TRON, Jagged Edge, to my personal favorite, True Grit! The Dude truly does 'Abide'!
I just seen TUCKER: A MAN AND HIS DREAM for the first time recently and Jeff Bridges is so good as Preston Tucker, this charismatic 1940s entrepreneur who goes against the Big Three auto companies in Detroit.
this was just lovely, so lovely. I remember Jeff's performance in that movie, it was spectacular! Also, hope they talk about Iceman cometh with was a fantastic movie, or filmed theatre. Robert Ryan was too good in that one. And Beau should get more praise as well. I'm curious about his experiences with Ashby and the Landlord.
Being a kid in the 50's from Chicago next to the Lake, I watched Sea Hunt Staring Lloyd Bridges he was a stud a good looking man! I remember both boys Jeff & Beau in a episode! Also Lenard Nimoy playing a romantic lead in an episode too! But what I've always admired was Jeff always differing to his Father even as Jeff Star was rising and his Fathers was dimming! I never saw him or allow others to put his career over his Father's! Besides Sea Hunt! Lloyd Bridges was a Great Hollywood Leadman that had acting chops and never took second chair against any Hollywood leadman of his time! Sea Hunt and his voice over in that series was fantastic I loved Sea Hunt and eventually I saved up and bought a used tank, regulator, mask, snorkel, fins and a neoprene crotch suit to take lessons at the YMCA to get certified to dive and my tank filled! But the waters in northern Illinois weren't as warm or as clear as they were on Sea Hint! Loved the Bridges Family and in a way I felt like I grew up with the Boys! And respected Jeff's acting pedigree way before the Big Lebowski! But the Old Man was better! Better looking and could Scuba Dive! None those boys can! CMTFU!
Big Labowskie 2 having a running gag about how Labowskie is an old man now is actually perfect. Yeah, dude's old now, play into it alongside an entertaining original story.
I saw T&L with my dad when it came out. I remember that nice lady at the door when they were cutting the grass. And I remember Jeff's face drooping after that beating.
I want to know how much money it would take for Conan to drink an entire Miller Lite while having an entire hair cut at Supercuts. I love Conan. I also love his commitment for ads for products he would never use himself. Old school!😂
I still regard Lloyd Bridges performance in Hot Shots 1 & 2 as one of the best comedic performances of all time. His boys have made me laugh but old man is still the champ
I could listen to Jeff Bridges talk forever and never grow tired of it.
I can recommend his "Sleeping Tapes" It is an amazing relaxing listen.
@@maxthue Thank You! I am going to check them out.
@@SmirkingRevenge saaaaaame. 😌😴
Jeff’s voice is so soothing.
Same with Sam Elliot.
Check out the Jeff Bridges sleeping tapes, if you haven't. Works like a charm.
"Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you"
@@spenserquerry4718 Sleeping tapes? Is that why Conan goes to Jeff's house at night?
Boy do I have a movie for you!
All I could hear was an uncleared loogie. It was almost nauseating to me.
He's so silly for someone his age. I love it so much
At 74, dude still has the best head of hair in all hollywood
Tied with Kurt Russell
@@oliverclothesoff3219 His dad had a beautiful head of hair.
I am glad to see how much his health jumped back. He is like ten years younger than a couple of years ago.
That shirt really ties the room together.
I want it!
The whole Bridges family is a great acting legacy. An outstanding bunch.
Love Beau Bridges!
I almost feel like the big lebowski was written for Jeff. He has been the dude his whole adult life. What a fantastic way to live. Lol
Total joy.
Yaayy❤ Jeff Bridges. So good to see the dude happy and healthy.
Richard Peterson was well know to many that went to Seattle concerts in the late 70's and well into the 80's. He was outside busking his trumpet at most shows. They had him as guest on the rock radio stations many times as well. A bonafide character. Jeff's quick impersonation was dead on.
I loved how he used to use his feet to shake the coffee can full of coins in time with the music as he played his trumpet.
Sounds like the guy was on the spectrum maybe
Jeff Bridges is a truly great actor and a wonderful family man who adores his wife and kids.
The dude abides
The Dude evolves 🗿👽🗿
Yeah well that's just like your opinion man
What is this from?????
@@hammer3122 'The Big Lebowski'.
@marklar7551 that should be the sequel name LOL
Jeff Bridges automatically puts me in a better mood.
Yes!
Same
Yeah it's like he just radiates happiness 😄 I wish I was more like that
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is either my favorite, or second favorite movie, depending on which day I think about it. I have never heard that wonderful story before and it's made my day! Jeff Bridges is a treasure.
The Dude! Another fantastic episode. Thank you! ❤❤❤
I could listen to Jeff Bridges talk about anything for hours, dude's a legend
Richard Peterson. Holy Hell. I’m from Seattle. He used to open punk shows. He opened for DOA and played Hungry Like The Wolf playing piano and Trumpet at the same time
Was Duran Duran in Sea Hunt?
Neither Duran Duran, nor DOA we’re in Sea Hunt as far as I know, but I know nothing about Sea Hunt
Sea Hunt was my favorite show on TV when it ran. It is amazing the to think of how they could have made so many great stories out of scuba diving. Loved it.
My Dad was the film editor on Sea Hunt. Charles G. Craft ACE.
"..but you leave a little something too." Kwik wit hall of fame joke 😂
Leave them rubbers at the dock!
Honestly, now I want a gritty underwater adventure called "Son of Son of SeaHunt" where Jeff passes the SeaHunt baton down to another generation, complete with trumpet cues.

Proud follower of Dudism!
Keep abiding.
So awesome. What a bright point in some dark times.
LOVED Jeff Bridges in Fisher King!!
2:34 that trumpet imitation was so real it fooled me 😃 I was looking away from the screen at that moment and genuinely thought that a trumpet payed on the show, all of a sudden 😀
Jeff is the coolest actor and so talented. Same with his brother and legendary father.

I want the long version of every Jeff Bridges story!!!
The Dude makes every day better.
His voice 🥰
Smoking for decades will do that.
Love that Bo Burnham got shout out by Bridges!!
I could definitely take a whole video podcast of this episode. Jeff Bridges gives a great interview.
So glad Jeff finished the Thunderbolt and Lightfoot story after Conan interrupted him!
he is the coolest grandpa anyone could ever ask for
The Dude for President 2024!
But, really, JB has such a body of work from The Last Picture Show, to his Oscar winning portrayal in CrazyHeart, to Starman, Against All Odds, TRON, Jagged Edge, to my personal favorite, True Grit! The Dude truly does 'Abide'!
And he built all that in a cave with a box of scraps!
“I bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.”
“The dude evolves” that was a good line from Matt like always.
The actual Jeff is closer to being The Dude than any other character he plays. Maybe even more than the role of Jeff Bridges.
Starman, The Fisher King, Jagged Edge and Crazy Heart. His range is just amazing.
I feel that both Starman and The Fisher King are under-remembered now.
@@WhiskyCanuck 100%.
I’m happy to see Jeff still kicking! Jeff hasn’t lost his sense of humor.
Jeff, what a legend. Against all odds remains one of my favourite movies of all time!
I love when the star of R.I.P.D. makes an appearance at places
I didn't even know that Sea Hunt existed. I used to watch SeaQuest DSV in the 90's and I can see where they probably got their inspiration!
Glad to see his health is better
I just seen TUCKER: A MAN AND HIS DREAM for the first time recently and Jeff Bridges is so good as Preston Tucker, this charismatic 1940s entrepreneur who goes against the Big Three auto companies in Detroit.
Conan DESTROYS Jeff with FACTS and LOGIC
That's, just, like, your opinion, man.
Jeff has amazing posture for a gent of his age.

"Supercuts. Come in and experience the irony."
Jeff is just the best.
Brother Beau is a really nice guy.
Great guest. Jeff Bridges can really capture an an audience's attention.
I wish someone else was a fan of 1972's Bad Company, I almost never heard Bridges talk about it and it's one of my favorite movies.
That plate of sowbelly looked effing disgusting.
I've been a fan of Jeff Bridges ever since I first saw him in King Kong (1976) as Jack Prescott. This was a fantastic episode.
"Lloyd Bridges: investigator submarino es muy macho!"
The dude evolves! Show this to the Coen brothers.
Man... I wanna be like him 😂😂😂 the guy is almost 80 and his vibes are amazing 😍
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is an all-time favorite of mine.
Jeff's laugh is amazing

Every Time I lost my keys in the house I would yell out "KEY HUNT!" 😆
i used to see Richard Peterson in Seattle, and indeed he said his fav music was the incidental music for Sea Hunt!

Conan said everything I've been thinking about Supercuts lo these many years. Spooky,
The Dude evolves. 😎
Son of Sea Hunt, is all well and good. But I really came for the SUPERCUTS ad. Especially Sona: "Oh good!"
i love when Matt breaks first. The Dude is still The Dude.
Jeff has not left the character “ The Dude “ behind after these years.
.......Jeff is a truly nice man , I met him in Vancouver when he was doing tron 2
Jeff Bridges is simply the coolest person to ever breathe our air.
Arlington Road is a movie that everyone needs to watch.
My dad lived in the Seattle apartment where he partly filmed American Heart! Great movie, by the way.
Such a legend man
I love The Dude. I will become him when I'm 60
Jeff Bridges is the best and coolest guy around…
I have the same sandals as Jeff Bridges 🤔.
I'M WEARING THE DUDE'S SANSALS! 🤯

Greetings Programs! Great interview
This aggression will not stand, man. Lebowski 2024
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is GOAT quality
Loved thunderbolt and Lightfoot
“Who comes in to tell you…!” - Mel Cooley comes to mind 😂
Sea Hunt and Johnny Quest were the only cool shows in the 70's and they were 20 years old then.
By this time in the interview my lungs were aching for air!
Gosh feel stupid, forgot about the great Lloyd Bridges, loved him so much, laughed lots too, imo? Thank you needed a laugh today. 👵👍🇬🇧😅
